  1. Pretty new board. :nana: I know you will change to the original green when you can, right? Works good, too!
  2. you had to ask this question today Welp, I run three Clay sites and no I've never accepted any kind of help although highly encouraged by friends who know my financial situation. I just believe in Clay it forward and it's all fun and all that jazz. Usually when things get really really tight I just downgrade or switch servers heee. But last year (and close your eyes Salud) I had a Clay personal website budget line of about 100/mo. Thankfully, for right now, FCA (the main website) is being housed for free by Ansa's wonderful husband. Don't know how long I will impose upon him for that but it was a life saver when it happened last year. The media site will be switching servers soon because my rate doubled. Looking into that now. As for the forum FYI, it's $20/mo. I downgraded this one too because really we didn't have much traffic early last year. I'll have to check into seeing if this level is still good enough. There is an issue happening right now that I don't want to put on a public board but let's just say if the board ever like disappears I'd probably need a quick $200 that doesn't happen to be in my bank account right now. It's a funny story that I will explain when I can. Anyway, for the first time I'm not going to say no I don't need help. But I don't want things to get weird. Please don't feel as if you have to donate anything. And if I get anywhere near that magic sum I'll let you know and tell you to stop. Paypal email is: aearlye@yahoo.com I can't believe I wrote this..I feel so dirty. That was tough and on top of it I think when Ansa reads it she'll have a heart attack. Sounds like it's a good thing I asked. :F_05BL17blowkiss:
  3. Couchie this just reminds me to ask you something I've been thinking about. Do you accept donations to defray costs?
  4. Two sites I use to compare/shop best flights are bookingbuddy.com kayak.com
  5. Yes, Scruffy does a masterful job of this. See 21b_BestOf_SRHPT_2007_Banter_FtMyers_scruffy132. About midway through it.
  6. Thanks for responding. I can't find a techie thread, but you probably solved the dilemma. I have the dual core processor but only 1 gig of memory. Shit Crap! I was hoping to use the XVid files so I could play them on my widescreenTV. Any suggestions? Should I just get the Large WMV instead? *sniff* I'll Pm you about your generous offer.
  7. It's not nice to tease the newbies... I d/l Scarlett's excellent FtMyers Xvid and can't get the DVD to burn
  8. Yes, YES, YESSSSS!!!! The one wrapped in Black and Silver. Orgasmic, for sure.
  9. Welcome back xxxclay - Seems we do share a lot of the same thoughts. Play, maybe if someone is upset at what you or anybody is writing, then they can understand how what was said about Clay and his friends might feel to him. Maybe? Just? If they apologize to him maybe I'll reconsider thinking this fandom has serious issues. But I don't expect to see this or anyone recognize that the collosal breakdown of graciousness is a more serious matter than what happens in one little corner of the world. My two cents. Just a general reminder that this is an open board with no back rooms and cubby holes. When I first read Plays coded message, I saved it so I could ruminate on it for a while. I really wasn't sure if this was due to a post, a PM she received or what! I think I get it. I don't feel a need to apologize, but I do need to be more tolerant of those who cannot control their worry and feel they have just got to "get it off their chest." This has always bewildered me. Why is every bitter, mean-spirited, pot-stirrer allowed every courtesy and protection on the boards, while Clay, the ostensible reason for our fandom, can be bluntly and crudely insulted with absolute impunity? I'm not saying there should be no criticism. I just think there's a respectful way to express one's opinion, and I don't think it's censorship to ask that of fans. That's why I thank God he doesn't read the message boards often. I'd hate for him to see the kind of petty, cruel, and unfair statements about him that go unedited on nearly every board. I totally and whole-heartedly agree. During the discussions tonight, someone smart asked when did all this outright cruel criticism begin. Couchie said LTS and I think she is right. It started there, and seems to have escalated with his interview in TV Guide where he announced he was leaving Hollywood. I believe a little earlier, when his Fan Club saw the light of day the criticism was a topic du jour for weeks. Then we had the Americana Tour - "oy" that wasn't pretty. It seems the fandom has become entrenched with this approach, and we must always be respectful of posters opinions even if they show total disrespect to Clay who is always the subject of disrespect. I agree couchie. Every board is entitled to make their own rules, of course, but I believe that being able to air differences and discuss conflicts is really necessary at times, and that things fester if you don't that can eventually destroy a board or at least, make people reluctant to post and drive members away. Now the way you do the discussing is important, but I don't think you can make rules to make people be nice to each other. You have to foster an atmophere of trust and respect, and our admins have done a fine job of that. And what the heck is wrong with respecting Clay as much as we respect anyone else? I've never understood that. Sure, criticizing Clay is OK, but there's a respectful way to do it, and a mean and cruel way to do it. I don't understand why some boards allow so much of that, but, again, that's their right. But I DO care, and am fascinated by, comments like jmh's above. I tend to agree with you somewhat; I might agree more if I had ventured to poke my nose out of here (which I did not). But I'd LOVE to hear~why you think that is? What has caused the huge turnaround from the days of wine and roses....to the days of whine and noses out of joint? And do you think we'll ever get it back? Some boards will never get it back, I hate to say it, but that's what I think. I think there's always been OTT behavior, just as I said in that post. But there's an atmosphere of hysteria that's become more and more prevalent. One cause, already mentioned by cindilu , the EW blurb, but more than that, some supersekrit message that went flashing around to the mods of all the big boards and other folks--the content of which I've never heard. This was closely followed by a barely veiled suggestion at the OFC that Clay wanted us to let RCA know that we all hated the idea of a covers album, and pretty quickly this became the accepted POV on the big boards--saying you didn't mind the idea could get you a big smack-down in a hurry. Along with this was a back channel suggestion, gradually made more public, like RCA was behind the tabloid shit in an attempt to control Clay and make him record those covers, and these grew into "RCA is out to destroy Clay": because he dissed Clive in his book, or they just don't like him, or he's leaving RCA after this album so they want to "devalue" him." Add in the Gnat and his lies, and the participation of a segment of the fandom in trying to "handle" that situation for Clay, and all of a sudden you've got a fandom that thinks we need to protect Clay from his "enemies" and that those enemies are everywhere. I can now and then get sucked into that one myself--it's a powerful force. That has its roots in AI, of course, the anomaly, and things that followed, but it's grown much, much worse, IMO. Instead of celebrating the joy, the focus has turned to smiting the enemies. That's just my take on it. Another great post! And another.
  10. Equally vomit inducing. If only it were so! I had no idea if the blurb was true or not, but how many times do we have to go through the gnashing of teeth, before we learn that it not O-fish-ul until CA says so? This fandom Pisses me off BIG TIME!
  11. Nope, I actually thought I had read it somewhere. By the way, I didn't get the connection because I never met any of you except Ethel. Told ya I'd stick my size 10 in my mouth.
  12. I was asking about the teasing? What am I not getting? (I know I'm going to feel like a complete idiot) *wincing*
  13. Well shit crap, I want to laugh too, but I don't get it. color me clueless
  14. Don't really care about local sources since I don't know them. Kinda meaningless to me. If you feel it is true then you can bask in your knowledge that Clay is stringing her up right now. It's not my place to do it. I'm sure there is an audience for those who would like the juicy details of the local knowledge but I don't think it's here. Look I don't care if you hate the idea of a tour. I don't care if you like Kim or Ruben. I've never been a fan of Ruben. Many have posted a lot of good reasons why there shouldn't be one and none of them slammed Kim and Ruben in the process. Maybe I'm making the line too fine or maybe people don't know where the line is..I don't know either..but I hope we find it. This isn't an admin note. Feel free to discuss this openly. It's YOUR board - you help decide what kind of place it's going to be. And maybe it will turn out this place isn't for you. One person asked that their membership be deleted today because they don't like board on board talk. I obliged her because I feel being able to talk about things is better than having to hold your tongue or take it to PMs where things can become more insideous. That's one policy that won't be changing. :F_05BL17blowkiss: couchie Good on ya! What does Local people mean? Are these Insiders? Pfft - most people don't know what they are talking about. Kim never says anything that can be constured as negative about Clay and she has had questions about him in the middle of her own interviews way too often when she is supposed to be selling herself. Sometimes it costs the lesser known person to be friends with someone more of interest. Unless it comes directly from the source, why even bring it up? Grapevines only grow grapes... Couchie, didn't you sing at one of the JBT's. I hatesss angst!
  15. QUOTE(playbiller @ Sep 10 2007, 10:04 AM) Do you ever get the idea that people who declared to love Clay unconditionally, have conditions?
  16. Thanks, jmh123! You were such fun company -- and you just about saved my life *g* with that frozen thingy in the 104 degree inferno-- me with my busted knee stuck in my chair-- Most, if not all, of us in that section (in front to the far left looking at the stage) were seemingly oblivious to the presence of "the creep" and his mother-- BTW: Anybody know (or have experience with it): is knee replacement surgery all that it's cracked up to be?-- I'm starting to look into it-- I'm getting very annoyed with the limitations of end-stage arthritis of the knee joint. It gets in the way of easy travel to see Clay in concert. Hi and welcome from another newbie. Yes, I can! I had this surgery done in February. PM me with any questions. I'd be glad to help you.
  17. Floridians don't go in August or July for that matter. Come again in November thru April.
