  1. I know aikim is leaving soon for Asheville, don't know about anyone else. We are leaving Friday after Mr. Fear's ortho appointment. I wish I could have planned a get together but it sounds like the town rolls up the carpet at 11. I'm concerned there might be a bus line and all plans would be dropped. I'll be looking for you all at the concert. :hello:

Safe travels to those heading to Asheville. I hope the weather is good at least on Friday night. There's a lot of things going on in Asheville and surrounding cities.

    Have a wonderful day!

I will be leaving for Asheville on Thursday around noon. I hope to get to meet you and other FCA board members who are going.

  2. Face Book Information from CV on Privacy Settings and Phone Numbers:

    Quote

And talking about FB: goldarngirl noted that FB now is listing your phone number and your home address. If you don't want to share this info it is important that you go and switch it off in your privacy settings. I also found when I did this that some settings I had made friends only had morphed into Everyone even though I know I haven't touched my profile in a couple of months. Talk about aggravating in the extreme. While there I would check your privacy settings to make sure it is still set to what you would like to share.

Go to the top right of your screen, click Account then Edit Friends. Go to the left side of your screen and click Phonebook. Everyone's phone#'s are now being published. Please repost to let your friends know this is happening so they can remove......their..phone #'s by changing their.privacy settings. (Go to Privacy Settings- Phone - Customize - Only Me)

  3. Tried and True on Amazon...click on the DVD...it says "Director, Clay Aiken"

    http://www.amazon.co...iken+tried+true

    Kim

Can't say as I'm surprised. I figured that no matter whose name was credited, Clay was running that show. He wasn't producing because that was, I suppose, International Media -- but it was Clay's show, and he had Ben directing the musicians, and Ruben and Quiana singing, and he put it on in his hometown, so Clay was directing EVERYTHING!

Which increases my anticipation beyond what I can tolerate without thinking about it pretty much obsessively.

I'm still perplexed by the track list printed on the LP not matching the 10 songs Amazon lists. Anyway, at least Suspicious Minds is on both. I had mused a couple of weeks or so back that I sure hoped SM was on the CD because it could be a killer single, and now that we know it's a track on the LP, I hope that's the case. I hope SM is the song he showcases on TV appearances to promote the album. I think Decca would be doing a disservice if they didn't release a single to download and promote it well in advance of LP release. Radio is so dead now. Besides, I want at least ONE song soon to BUY online and drool over and play a zillion times before June 1st!!!

Clay said during the taping that he was a "micro manager," and I was so very happy to hear that. He is the one that knows what works for him and what does not. The PBS taping was spectacular, so he is good at directing. Now the hard thing is to have to wait to see it on TV!

  4. Anybody else going to the first show? I'm looking forward to this one. Unspoiled. But it also seems a nice getaway spot. I still have to figure things out but I'd love to have a bit of time there if I can.

I am going, and I would love to finally meet you. I have friends that have been to Ashville, and they say that it is a beautiful area. I got my plane ticket last night, and I signed up for Ficus's group at the Doubletree. There is a motel just down the road that is about three years old, and I have friends that have stayed there say it is reasonable and has free breakfast. They liked it. That would have been my second choice. We will arrive on Thursday and stay till Sunday.

I hope you can make it.

  5. Not too many going to Asheville? I won a three nights in the NC mountains from the Gala. It said one hour outside Asheville. I'll probably call and make a reservation for it then. Hopefully it's available. Plenty of room if anyone needs a place. But it is pretty secluded and is for nature lovers: biking and hiking or just looking. :treadmill:

I am going to Ashville. There is a train tour one hour and a half from Asheville that goes through the Smokey Mountains. It takes 4 1/2 hours to do this train tour. I love nature, and I love the mountains.

  6. Well, I watched both nights of AI this week, and right now, I'm not feeling the love for any of them. Some of the girls were ok, was not impressed with any of the guys, based on last nights performances. And that includes Casey. He's cute enough but I thought the only reason he sounded half way decent was because the others were so bad last night.

I read this over at CV. Apparently is was a quote from someone who follows AI but not specifically Clay. I love when others see it too.

QUOTE So far no one sings nearly as good as Clay or Carrie U! I'm not impressed as of yet! Hopefully they will get better but as always, if Clay walked on and sang anything "he would WIN"!!!!

I have been watching also, and I am not feeling the love for any of them. I was really disappointed in the top 24. I just do not get what some are seeing in Casey. He does nothing for me. I just do not see the sex appeal. Maybe it is a case that one has to be there to see it, feel it, whatever. I see nothing special in his voice either. I sort of like the one that looks like Janis Joplin, Crystal. But she did not do so great either this past week. I hope that they all get better as I am finding this season very boring. Maybe, like Simon, it is time for this show to go.

  7. Scarlett has been doing a lot of posting on FB. I think interventions are needed for her and Canfly. Damn facebook games.

I miss Scarlett. Are they farming? It seems almost everyone has a farm on FB. Not me. I already have enough addictions.

Kimiye's post is on CH to which I have no access. Is it anywhere else? I like to keep up on various ways to deal with computer problems.

You can read CH whether or not you are a member, except for the Den, so you should be able to read it. She's a member here, so if she wants to bring it over here somewhere as well, that would be great.

The link goes to the log-in page. I am not a CH member, but I sure would like the virus information.

  8. :whee: I'm super excited for all who are going! :twinklewhore:

I hope this is a super successful event and CD for my bf because he soooo deserves it! It's good to see Mary Brennan's name again too :)

On another note - Has anyone seen Scarlett posting anywhere? I haven't seen her on the boards for awhile now, with the exception of her trying to make it to the GFI event.

Oh thanks for posting the TG Guide pics, bottlecap!!! :flirtysmile3: He looks so young there.

I was wondering about Scarlett too.

  9. I just peeked in at the Grammys for a minute before I call it a night and saw the performance of Mary J Blige and Andrea Bocelli...Bridge Over Troubled Water...they were accompanied by David Foster. I have to say I didn't enjoy this particular arrangement. Way too many "trills" (is that the proper term?) for my liking .It really took away from the song,IMO..... I love Bocelli and I do enjoy Mary J Blige lately, but I thought she looked like she was straining. I think she was trying to keep up with Bocelli and that's no easy feat....the man slides up and down the scale with great ease.

I really could picture Clay up there singing his heart out...maybe some day.

Can't wait for reports/video from those attending GFI. I need to hear Clay music !!!!!!

    :lilredani:

I liked it in the beginning when Bocelli was singing in Latin. But when Mary J. Blige joined him, it changed completely. I think that Mary J. can really sing, but her voice did not complement Bocelli during this performance. IMO, they did not sound good together. It sounded awkward to me. I did not like her rendition of BOTW. I also did not care for the arrangement. I wonder if David Foster did the arranging?

  10. I saw a package of Buffalo meat hot dogs at the story yesterday. They were each of a goodly size in length and girth.

    heee did you buy it?

Lemmings to the sea: Clay fans.

Thousands of dollars on airfare and hotels and no idea what for. (LOL!)

    I know.heee. If I could I would.

Read on another MB that Faye has spilled the beans on her facebook page. It is the PBS taping! I guess she can talk about it, but Clay can't. Maybe that is why it is on her facebook page?

  11. Well, I have finally started.

I have about 17 yrs worth of crap really good ,essential items shoved into my cupboards ( and garage, piled up in corners etc) and now is the time to declutter. Seriously, no mucking around now.

We will put the house on the market in a couple of months and it is nowhere near viewer-ready.

Any tips on making moving easier?

    :fca:

After living in the same house for 38 years, we decided to sell it and move. We had so much stuff that we had never used or were not using anymore, but kept it just in case we needed it. I packed it all. Six months after that husband got diagnosed with Lou Gerich's disease, terminal, and we had to move again because the new house was two storys. This time I just got rid of all the stuff because we were renting a very small house. I just put it in boxes and called Good Will. We were in rented house for six months, and then moved so that he could participate in an experimental program for the disease. After living in house for 38 years, we moved three times in 18 months. I had to do all the packing each time. This time the move was easy because I had no "stuff."

My advice to you is bite the bullet and get rid of anything you do not need, or have not used for a year. You probably will never use it. A garage sale would be good. I did not have one because I was taking care of a paralyzed husband, so I did not have the energy. Whatever does not sell in garage sale, you could donate and get a tax deduction.

I have a tendency to "save" stuff, just in case. I thought after husband died that I would live simply and not accumulate "stuff." NOT!

Watch the show, "Hoarders" on A&E. It is scary! That always helps me get rid of "stuff," that I do not need.

If you de-clutter your house, it will look bigger, and will sell faster. The garage needs to be cleaned out also. I found that a "clean" house sells fast. Polish everything metal with Windex, including doorknobs. Wash and polish windows. It is not hard to make your house sparkle when you do this. It will not take much work either if you work with Windex. I even used it on my bathroom vanity counters, which were cultured marble. My second house went on the market on Monday, and I had a contract by Wednesday. The people that bought it said that most of the houses they had looked at were "dirty," and that mine being so clean was one of the reasons that they decided to buy it. Thank you Windex!

Good luck, and I hope you find your dream house!

  12. Here is a link to donate to UNICEF for Haiti:

    http://inside.unicefusa.org/site/TR/Events...p;team_id=14820

Here is the donation page for Haiti - please feel free to spread the word!!!

You need to "join" the team - there is a link there, although it's in a really dark color - if you hover, you will find it

This is on the UNICEF site.

This is a page set up specifically for Clay fans. Lets see how much money we can raise as a group!

  13. Agree about the big voice songs, but what is wrong with "Volare?" It is a big band song, with great music, and not so great lyrics, but I would love to hear Clay sing in "Italian." I like Dean Martin's voice, because it is so distinctive, and so is Clay's. So if Clay sang this, it would be a totally new song. I think it would be fun. Kinda like when he killed with "Mack the Knife." I never liked that song until Clay sang it!

Nothing's wrong with Volare. But I don't know nothin' 'bout no Dean Martin singing it (although I do remember Bobby Rydell). It was Domenico Modugno (my mother's record) for me -- the Ultimate One Hit Wonder. He won Song of the Year Grammy ... and that was it for Domenico, I guess. A jazzy Volare in Italian could be fab. I guess Volare is similar to Unchained Melody, it was a hit for several in the 50's and the 60's.

Since WKOFMI and MTK are from Broadway shows, I've been thinking of other Broadway hits from the 50's and 60's that Clay could make magic with ...

Make Someone Happy (would be a natural for Clay)

Just in Time (in that Nina Simone way)

From West Side Story: Somewhere or Tonight

As Long As He Needs Me (hopefully some day)

People (remembering Sir Robin's luckiest people in the world!)

No Girl from Ipanema? Okay then, how about, Blame It On the Bossa Nova? :hahaha: But that breezy vocal style takes me to Dusty Springfield's The Look of Love, which is a TRUE hot classic. And that somehow connects in my brain to Jackie DiShannon's What the World Needs Now. Didn't he sing that on AI. A group thing, maybe?

    Link to Dean Martin "Volare"
