  1. Great question! Apart from my hometown, my other favourite city in the world is NYC. I have family there and, when I was a teenie kid, my grandparents actually lived on the upper east side of Manhattan. That is, in the days when the now chic townhouses were filled with flats - the kind with the tub under the kitchen table. My mum and I would visit several times a year and, after they moved to Queen's, would visit Manhattan regularly because my grandfather just loved it. To this day, I still get goosebumps when I visit Rockefeller Centre and don't even get me started on Radio City! I love the fact that I got to go back this year (after a four year absence) to see the city again because of the Clay acting in Spamalot. The other place I know I'd never have gone if it wasn't for Clay was Chautauqua, NY. I found it quite surreal, sort of like a Victorian Disneyland. I'd love to go back to some places in Europe, which will hopefully happen after I retire...
  2. Glad to hear that you had a great time. Do you know the names of the bands that came before Paul? Enjoying your sightseeing and safe travels home Since luckiest1 is off sightseeing today, I don't think she'll mind me posting this recap from the Globe and Mail, with more concert details: Concert brings harmony to Plains of Abraham I don't think I would have lasted in the crush - claustrophobia is no fun!
  3. justforfun - Welcome to another dog walker! luckiest1 - I was thinking of you early this morning when I watched CBC weather. Hope it all clears for tonight! I can't wait to hear all the details, since they're predicting a crowd of 200,000 on the Plains of Abraham! Scarlett - Thanks for the photos! It looks like you're all having a wonderful weekend. Everytime it pours rain in TO (it's non-stop today), I think of Iseeme and how you need this weather. Me, I'm staying inside and continuing the "omigod! how long has it been since I cleaned!" summer - hey, it's one way to keep busy... Gonna go - the dust hippos under the fridge are calling my name...
  4. :fest33: Happy Birthday Carolina Clay and playbiller :fest30: Awww, I love Quebec City! Have you seen this nonsense about Macca's concert? Sheesh! Nationalists protest McCartney's appearance. I agree with Charest - they should just relax and enjoy the show, which I'm sure you will! As for first kisses with red-headed guys, me too! His name was Ben, a football player who had tons of freckles and ended up as a friend, not a boyfriend...haven't thought of him in ages.
  5. Claymatron better not be two-timing me, because I'm the one she usually sleeps with! cindilu - Gorgeous banner! Just caught up and read the Fieldnotes and yes, it does sound like Clay had a difficult time with this visit.
  6. I guess that makes you the ohffishal wine taster at the FCA, RIGHT? You knew I never had any doubt that you'd pass this test! Iseeme - I'm jealous that you're working in a garden centre! I LOVE to garden (ask the lovely Claymatron who's seen my back forty a few times) and even if it's work, would love that type of job. Ah, maybe one day.... :1:
  7. I have to add to the conversation about fandoms changing and casual fans out there. I'm another long time Trekker (Deep Space Nine) - was heavily involved in the fandom, posted on boards, sent info to sites, joined one actor's fanclub and went to lots and lots of conventions. When I was involved, I never expected my interest to wane. After DS9 ended, I was still a pretty intense fan until about four years ago, when my Clay fandom grew very deep roots. My older daughter, a fellow Trekker, always says that I like to be current and, as much as I still love DS9, Clay made my life a lot more fun. I talked about this scenario with a number of RL Clay friends - some are shocked and don't believe me that anyone's interest would change, others agree because they've seen it happen too. As for the casual fans, I do have one NJU story from lunch with a friend on Monday this week. She's one of my two co-workers who are HUGE fans of Clay. Neither of them can travel due to family and health commitments, but are eager to hear and see any information and links I send them. They both loved the Amazon videos. On Monday, my buddy Shirley and I were discussing his career and how much she loved the videos from OMWH. This was the first cd I didn't gift to her, and she made a point of saying, "I'm going to buy it because I want the stores in Canada to know he has fans here." Shirley also made a point of saying how much she loves ATDW and that she thinks his version of the songs are better than the originals - she plays it all the time! Hey, I still play it in the car all the time and it's loaded on my iPod too. My other friend Cathie made a point of asking for OMWH for Mother's Day and emailed me the day after to tell me how much she loved it and couldn't stop playing it, especially because "you can sing along with the songs." She said she streamed the links that I sent her "with the door closed so that I can dance around the room." Talking to either of these ladies always makes me feel great. Oh goodie, I'm finally out of here in 15 minutes and off work on Monday, to lengthen my Canada Day weekend!
  8. I think I'm caught up, so I apologize if this has been posted already - news from UNICEF and promise of a blog! http://fieldnotes.unicefusa.org/2008/06/sp...on_somalia.html
  9. Morning all! Tijala - Glad your fire is cleared up! Bet your hubby never takes the batteries out of the smoke detector again. :PickMe-1: I'm watching SYTYCD too - love it! The kids are just amazing. Sacrificial Love is probably my second favourite on the album, after ALAWH. It strikes a cord with me due to really old personal history.
  10. Claymatron is partly correct about the "bow" that I used to decorate Schnitz. It was a present from the groomer and it's unfortunately (sniff!) not made with her red ribbon. It's very fluffy velour with jingle bells and she gets very excited when she sees it - stretches her little neck up so she can wear it right away. As for extra ribbon, I do have one piece that was gifted to me .... don't know if it was used before or not though... Thanks justclay12 and everyone else! We think she's pretty special.
  11. Here I sit at home, instead of being on my way to the commuter train, since our 27 storey bldg had a very weird fire alarm this afternoon. We have terrible communication about what's really going on during an emergency, and after waiting 25 minutes between announcements, when most of us on the 17th floor smelled burning rubber/electrical odours via the freight elevator, we boogied on out of there! It was late enough in the day that I just came home. Since I'm here, I can post a picture of my little sweetie, Schnitzel, who is a long haired mini Dachshund - she's four, very affectionate and everyone loves her. BTW, she loved her jingle bell collar and her new toys at Christmas.
  12. Okay, go to Google and the maps option on the top left. At that page, type in "London, Ontario" and when you get the map, magnifiy to see the whole province of Ontario. Once you do that, you'll see the outline of the elephant, surrounded by the Great Lakes - Barrie, Ontario is in the back leg and London is in near the "head". I think Toronto is somewhere in the nether regions... ETA: or what my friend Claymatron just said!
  13. OMG, I've lived here my whole life and never noticed the elephant, but I see it now...thank you Google maps!
  14. Man, you're all so chatty overnight - I just caught up! Okay, it's got to be this one, cuz there are lots of us here from other parts of Ontari-ari-ari-o! Belle! Love your name and that you're another doglover. I haven't posted her pic yet, but the littlest member of my household is the Wonder Dachsie, Schnitzel (my daughter named her.) Iseeme - Glad to see that the fires have cleared in your area.
  15. Woohoo - another Canadian newbie! And yes, this is a very nice place to be!
  16. Would it be crass of me to say "I TOLD YOU SO??????" And I'm so glad you brought over that red bow!!! Hee! Hi Bella!!! Hi Iseeme! cindilu - As usual, you banner is GORGEOUS!!! I have to WordyMcWord my friend Claymatron - thank you for all the kind welcomes! I see a lot of familiar names that are on other boards, but who I never had a chance to get to know better. I've got to add huge thanks too to the London ladies for getting me over here. Just caught up on all the fun last night, which I missed since we had threatening thunderstorms, so no online time for me. It's killing me that I can't stream anything here at the stupid office! Would have been the perfect week to reminisce too, with the boss on vacation...
  17. Yes they are! I think they're all pretty terrific.
  18. Wow, first page for my first post on main! After lunch with lots of wonderful ladies on Saturday, I thought I'd join the party here! They couldn't say enough about this board, so I had to check it out. :F_05BL17blowkiss: to goldarngirl, luckiest1, cindilu2, canfly, topaz68, alspaz and FromClaygary Hope I didn't miss anyone...
  19. Thanks! I'm heading over there right now. Oh look, I'm up to two posts!
  20. Well, after having lunch with a great bunch of women on Saturday, I thought it was high time that I got over here! I'm a member of CH, but haven't posted there since last year and spend most of my time right now on CV. I know a lot of my friends are here (the amount of Cdns blows my mind!) and everyone was raving about FCA, so you're stuck with me now! :F_05BL17blowkiss: to goldarngirl, cindilu2, luckiest1, canfly, alspaz, topaz68 (hope I didn't miss anyone) and especially FromClaygary who drove my buddy and I to and from lunch through some crazy weather!
