Clay Aiken wouldn’t even have been eligible for this list six months ago as it was September of last year that the pop singer finally came out as a gay man. Speculation about his sexuality ran rampant almost from the moment he made it to the final twelve of the second season of American Idol where he quickly became a fan favorite. But Aiken consistently denied he was gay until he finally appeared on the cover of People Magazine in 2008. Despite topping the results of fan voting for most of the show, Aiken lost the American Idol crown to Ruben Studdard in a very tight competition.

Well I do think Clay is being diplomatic and is obviously not going to get drawn into the type of interview that they were looking for. But I also think that Clay's reality with AI is not the fans reality with AI. Simon Randy Paula and Ryan are the face of AI but they are not all of it. Both Debra Byrd & Micharl Orland have been very supportive of him in the media. Not to mention that Clay doesn't seem to have the persecution complex that many of his fans have for him.

Meh. Just my humble opinions.

Really I think that quote was misquoted or something because when Clay came out Nigel said he didn't know. But, I guess it doesn't matter anyway.

The guy on Idol right now who is openly gay Adam Lambert is either loved or hated but most talk I have read has to do with his singing/performing .

I love hearing that, and I know just what they mean too.

On the TwoP AI Forum recently, out of the blue several people got into a convo about how Clay's AI5 surprise was "freaking awesome."

So many cute doggies. I wish I could have a dog. Had to give my rabbit away last year I was allergic to her (while later found out it was a him). Gave Mandy (named after someone here's favorite song) to my niece & then my sister disvoered she is allergic to rabbits as well. Oh that poor bunny had 3 homes but is happy now with at my niece's school as the classroom pet

Clay not comfortable singing on a stage? Clay Aiken? The guy was born to be on a stage - he comes alive with a mic in his hand.

What I meant was associating with other pop singers not including those from AI. I have no doubts that he will be singing on a stage as long as he can breath.

Clay looks so much better than he did in the bowling party pictures. It shouldn't be long before the swelling is gone from his face.

I love that the audience acknowledged the picture of Clay and Parker with cheers and applause. I am so proud of him living life on his terms. I never really thought about how he wasn't comfortable in the pop world. I'm feeling a little sappy tonight.

I am so happy for Clay that I have just been sitting back reading all the posts taking it all in.

As long as they don't bring their bitching and moaning here, it doesn't really affect me anymore. It used to drive me crazy! But I've learned to just push myself away from other sites during the down times. Of course, I also have learned to find distractions to keep me busy until Clay re-emerges. Okay my only complaint (just one) was that I was reading/lurker here the other night & really needed to go to bed then I read he blogged. Logged in to the OFC which I have been trying to stay away from and read his blog. I really could have waited until the next day for that one.

Although if he had written a blog like Cindi's I would have loved it.

I was curious about what to expect clothes-wise for the GLAAD Media Awards tomorrow, so I looked up last year's event on Getty Images. It looks like the men wore suits, with or without ties, or jackets with jeans. The outfit in the banner up there ^^^ would fit right in.

I mentioned it before but in the Jonas Brothers movie Joe Jonas was wearing a bow tie & his fans didn't like it much either

Just got back from the Hospital and my DIL just had her baby today. It was so wonderful to have such a joyful time since last year was a very hard time for our family when she lost her baby. Our new "little moose"(that is what the Doctor called him) weighed in at 9#8oz and was 21 inches long. Mom and Dad are doing great.

Can't wait for reports to come in about the GLAAD awards tomorrow night. I hope we get some great pictures.

First off, I want to say thank you to everyone who has been coming out to the shows since my last post. The vibe at these shows has been amazing.

Secondly, I have to address some behavior that has become disturbing. We pride ourselves on being accessible to you as fans, but in contrast, we do enjoy what little privacy we can muster. To that end, the efforts by some fans to find our hotel rooms, call our hotel rooms, attach things to our bus, etc., is something I have to condemn. This relationship only works when it remains healthy for both parties, and should this behavior continue, the only thing we can do is take more preventative measures to maintain our privacy, which in turn makes us less accessible to you.

I hope this doesn't come off as harsh. I merely want to nip this in the bud so we can continue to have a great experience with all of you at the shows we have coming up. Take care and see you at the next show.

Every time an artist appears on a show like Idol or Xfactor, their single/album shoots right up the charts. This is true even of artists like Beyonce and Mariah, that is why they jump at the opportunity to appear these shows, despite being established and hugely successful artists themselves.

Not always. Examples--Kimberley Locke and Bo Bice. Neither had albums that had just been released. Kimberley was trying to ignite a new single, and she'd gotten decent radio play before, but nada. Both of them sold a few hundred albums as a result of their appearances.

I think this works best for established stars with hot material at the moment.

Having said all that, I still agree with you that Clay would go on the show if asked.

ETA: Ruben got the "going home" song last year, the one they play at the end of every results show, and an appearance to sing it, and it tanked.

I remember reading Bo's sales went up but his CD was an exclusive with Walmart so I don't know how many were made. Kim more people talked about her dress than her singing. Christain from Project Runway was not very fierce on that one.

I like Ruben but I didn't like that song for the going home theme. The majority of time the sales to go up. That is why most artist try to get on the show. There have even been times that I contestant has sung a song & the orginal artists take on song starts selling more on itunes.

I think Clay would appear if AI invited him and it worked with his schedule. I have no idea if something is in the works or not, but if it is, I doubt we'd hear about it until right before it happened, anyways. So I'm keeping an open mind!

I think & hope he would appear. They sure have mentioned him a lot this season.

..no CD or single to promote (don't think he will be doing any promotion for BOCA)...can't see him being on the show just to promote his guest appearances and not sing. I suppose he could be on as a mentor as some others have done, but that just does not interest me. Kim

You see, I don't see a new album or single promotion as THE reason to be on Idol.

Clay is the ultimate product, and an appearance on Idol would be primarily to promote Clay Aiken. If Clay does not appear on Idol this year, it would mean they did not invite him. There is no way he'd refuse something so valuable, I'd bet my bottom dollar on that.

Did anyone watch the TV Guide Channel last night around 9 p.m. Kimberly and Justin were doing a recap of the Idol show last week and then they did a segment on past Idols what are they doing now? Clay was the second one they did. They had the picture of Clay up there from his album a Thousand Different Ways and said that he was going to be on 30 Rock and they showed a small clip of the show with Tina Fey. I think that it was Kimberly that said Clay is doing a lot of acting lately. Then they put the picture back up said that he would be a presenter at the GLADD awards show and he would be presenting an award to his friend Tyra Banks. They showed a picture of Tyra and Kimberly said, I didn't know they were friends and Justin said yes, they are. That was the end of it. I think that is about all that was said, it caught me by surprise. Did anyone else see it or capture it? It was a nice mention.

They played an Idol trivia game at the casino. The guy asked who won season 2 and the women answered Clay Aiken.

She won Forgot what the prize was.

There is a DVD scene it Idol. I still like the show. Sometimes. I don't think it is fixed but I do think they have a contestant or 2 that the producers want to win so they try to give them advanges (with interviews or Simon favoring them ect....).

I have liked people in each season but only really love Clay. It is neat to watch someone become a superstar.
