  1. I have kind of gotten addicted to watching Clay's bluegrass song he sang for his grandpa.

Was anyone there? On the YouTube version someone post

it was so special hearing what Grandpa had to say.

I wondered what his grandpa said. Seemed like a very special moment and I just discovered it!!!

I was there in the 5th or sixth row. I didn't hear what his grandfather said but I believe it is on one of the videos . I'm thinking jojoct. He said "Go boy" and a few other short comments. That song was discussed at length by my three friends who went with me on the almost two hour drive home. None had seen Clay perform before in concert. They absolutely loved the JNT5. It was a wonderful night in Raleigh.

    :tomato:

There was also the lighted banner which went around the venue. It said "Welcome home Clay". :bloomingflowers:

I was there too, sitting just in front and to the left of Mr. Aiken. Tribeca, it might help to know a little of the backstory; I'm not sure if you've read LTS, but in it Clay tells us that his Grandpa suffers from Alzheimers. Usually Clay feels that he recognizes him, but he can't verbalize Clay's name. However, Clay's music calms him and he listens to it quite regularly.

That night, when they started the bluegrass piece and Clay dedicated it to his Grandpa, Mr. Aiken several times "shouted out" to Clay~saying "you go, boy" and "you go, Clay", and trying to sing along a bit.

It was very emotional simply because of his recognition, which doesn't often occur; and the connection between them.

....and a little story about the banner around RBC: it actually said "We celebrate you home". For the life of me, I can't remember the name of the guitarist in Clay's band who at that time was his musical director as well....anyone? Aaargh!!

In any case, he had been contacted prior to the Raleigh performance, and helped with his contacts at RBC (the whole tme keeping it completely quiet from Clay) to arrange for this to happen. It was set up by the Raleigh Claymates, and was a complete surprise. I think it went well. :cry4:

What a night! Another one for the memory books, for sure.

FYI, hosaa has an absolutely WONDERFUL montage which blends the LTS reading and Clay's performance that night. I've looked, but I can't fnd it in the jungle that is clackunlimited. I know I have it, so later tonight I'll upload it to sendspace if someone hasn't found it by that time.

ETA: There is one HERE for CV vault members, from goldarngirl and luckiest1 which I'm sure is equally awesome....

goldarngirl and I also did a montage for the Raleigh performance of Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem, as a bonus with our Clearwater JNT05 series. You can hear Clay's papa in the audio.

Pretty wild to realize that the AI3 Solitaire night was 5 years ago! Man, that was a great night. I remember being nervous about Clay hitting the note....had he been sick recently? I think so. In any case, he nailed it, and the story about tossing the panties at Simon is classic, I remember hearing about that too. Good for him!

The countdown is looking great, thanks so much aikim.

I was there too. All has been said, but it was a wonderful moment. I love the song, just as a performance, as well.

I was there also!! I remember tearing up when the scroll around came on saying " We celebrate you home". I was sitting a few rows behind & to the side of "papa" & could hear him shout out to Clay. There's a wonderful video somewhere ( I know I saved it somewhere) of what appears to be Clay tearing up when he hears his papa shout out to him. I took 4 friends with me to the show who were casual fans & they all loved it!! Good memories!!

ETA- Found it, for those interested!! Clack Unlimited- Concerts- JNT 05- 051222- Raleigh-Star of Bethlehem- jojoct.

Listen at around 1:23 & you can hear papa & Clay's response to hearing him!!

Star of Bethlehem... one of my mostest favorite Clay moments. I thought I heard Grampa say, "beautiful" at least once, but his voice is garbled and those of you who were there and close probably have it right in what he said. I'm sure it is one of Clay's favorite moments, too.

I thought the montage with Clay reading about his grampa from LTS at the beginning is just great.

Com'on, Clay... we want some more moments like this... where have I heard that phrase before... :cryingwlaughter:

    Wow

I am glad i asked. You guys were so lucky to be there. I thought I could tell how special it was from the video but you made me feel like I was actually there.

I read LTS a few times. The first time I just could not put it down. I cried :( through a lot of it. My niece tried to read it but she could not get passed the sister suicide part. I don't know why my sister gave it to her to read but I am only the aunt not the mom so I don't get to question even though I have in the past.

Oh I forgot to say....Clay's AI3 Solitaire appearance and performance is one of my all-time favorites, for so many reasons. He was just all kinds of wonderful---from the way he was dressed, to his hair, to the way he walked out so confidently and in charge to that microphone so far away from the three bozos, from the way he touched and fondled Ms Microphone, to the way he eyefucked us all, from the swirling camera work to the glory notes.... :hubbahubba: GAH...he was incredible. I was SOOOO proud of him...

ETA: Ok...just had to watch that again... and I'd forgotten about that killer smile at the end of the song. Kill me now, why doncha', Mr. Hawtness?

    that describes it pretty good.

I remember that moment like it was yesterday. It was so great to see Clay come back as a star.

LOL at Clay throwing undies at Simon. Bet that was really Canfly throwing her underwear!!

  2. thought you guys might enjoy this post that was on the AI boards

Posts: 307 I'm rooting for Danny............fellow Wisconsinite and he seems like a really great guy. The WSJ (Wisconsin State Journal) has done a lot of articles on Danny from interviews with him, his family, friends and minister. Danny's the first Wisconsinite to make it into the top 36 at AI so have to go with my 'home boy.'

IMHO there are a lot of good contestants this year. Matt for 'bluesy,' L'il Rounds for R&B, Adam with his Broadway type background, etc. I skipped most of last season; just didn't care for the vocals on most of the contestants and several of the ones I liked didn't get that far.

I didn't start watching AI until Season 5 which is how I managed to miss Clay for so many years. I saw his performance during Season 5 when Michael S. was on and thought to myself, "who's the guy with the amazing voice," but that's as far as it went. Then, a month or so ago my oldest son commented that if I wanted to hear an Idol with a pure voice (in response to an Idol that doesn't have one) I should take a listen to Clay Aiken and he (my son) emailed me a couple of the tube links.......and I was hooked.

  3. did anyone see this ?

America's Next Top Model Audition Turns Bloody

Things got really ugly yesterday during a casting call for America's Next Top Model in New York yesterday.

An overheating car started all the chaos, the NYDN reports. If you watch the video, you will see that there were thousands of models lined up for the audition. Once the car started overheating people started screaming and running for their lives. It got even worse when people in the crowd started yelling, "There's a bomb!"

you definitely would would have had a headache on the AI boards one night during Spamalot (sorry to talk about different board Scarlett).

Only one person there belonged to the OFC. English is her second language. She was bringing over recaps then she wrote

OMG Clay I am crying so bad right now.

All of us where asking What happened? What happened?

Guess he twisted his ankle but they way she posted it was very scary.

You know one time I posted I was worried about something somewhere & I was quoted and asked about it like 10X. I responded once and was told I was repeating myself when really I wasn't. It was the 10 people who quoted me who repeated me. Does that make sense?

I do my best to not worry but it difficult to change that part of my personality.

Anyway, I was looking for clips of Zootopia on YouTube & they are gone:( All that is left is his 2pt radio interview. Wanted to share with a new fan Clay's cute penguin story. Someone told me Youtube is taking down a lot of videos. Not sure why.

Don't really know how to make those cool graphics but

    Happy Birthday Gibby

  5. What an interesting conversation was going on here well I was at work. We all see things so differently. I have said it before I am always a worrier. Not just Clay just with everything. Though I am not as a bad as my mom who needs to know when everyone of her grown children are if she hears an ambulance.

I do think someone being worried is not the same as someone being negative.

Know this will sound funny but that first day Clay did Spamalot I was at work and I was so worried about him. Could not wait to get home turn on the computer & find out what was going on & how his first night was. And it wasn't that I didn't have faith in him but I didn't have faith in the way things about him & his fans get reported.

Than there was the time I drove 4 hours to see Clay in concert because I thought it was the only time I would see him. I read on a Clay fan board that he would never have a concert at Mohegan Sun in CT. 5 months later he had a concert at Mohegan Sun 45 minutes from my house.

  6. Yes therer was a report on twitter about that. Maybe we will hear Clay laugh in the audience :)

Here is something sort of Clay related

    http://www.poptower.com/news/3152/cb...comic-book.htm

Jericho fans are some of the most dedicated in the world of television. In 2007, devotees to the show produced by CBS Paramount Network Television rallied together to bring back the fan-favorite which was initially cancelled after just one season. The show returned for a seven-episode second season, but was not renewed for a third season. While fans received a little more closure with the end of season two, there were still loose ends that could be addressed.

  7. Please excuse me if I get this terminology wrong

is burning it on to a CD okay?

    Sure!

But burning it to a CD and selling it is quite frowned upon.

Indeed. As is burning a purchased Clay Aiken cd for giving away to a third party. However, there are instances where burned cds of former downloads have subsequently been posted to the internet, then downloaded and burned to cd and then sold on ebay and then uploaded to a shared folder for downloading that have subsequently been burned to cd and then given away. That, I think, is permissible, though perhaps frowned upon by some. Or possibly just pursing of lips, not actual frowning. Subtle, yet important, distinction.

    *dusts fingers daintily*

okay so I can burn the CD the rest well I don't understand so don't worry I won't do it.

I gave my boss who loves Christmas music 2 of Clay's Cd's (MCWL & AIW) bought off Amazon brand new :) but not full price. I don't like her that much. She opened it on the sales floor & one of the customers told her she was very lucky.

  8. Gay-centric?

    :laugh2:

For some reason that gives me a mental image of Clay in the middle of a group of people who are holding hands and going "La-la-la"... I have strange thoughts. :D

I love your strange thoughts :)

    ETA: *waves back at canfly*

Wave all ya want, I ain't sleepin' wit ya!

Well maybe...depends on how desperate I get. :hahaha:

I don't remember why I quote this. Think I just found it funny.

The Gladd awards is now on broadway.com

    http://www.broadwayworld.com/

guess I killed the thread yet again.

  9. well I am not sure I know what I am talking about either

but I did see people post that on the OFC.

On AI boards there were always arguments about Clay being gay (I never got involved in them). There were people who posted HE'S NOT GAY and would fight & fight that he wasn't. Now those same people post about gay rights and have changed everything (which is good but to me kind of doesn't sound real because they just changed so drastically).

    ETA

Scarlet you were typing when I was. I don't know if I should tell you who I am there. I posted there that I thought the fan club should have more focus on Clay's music & I got a PM that told me I should leave the board & that I had an agenda & was not a good fan. That was way too long of a sentence.

  10. do you think there will be people upset that Clay is going to be giving this award? I am not but I remember reading some people were worried that the OFC would turn into a gay eccentric board.

    Eccentric or centric? :cryingwlaughter:

I really don't care if people get upset.....as long as they don't post here. :)

sorry my English ain't too good. I was wondering what everyones thoughts were.
