  1. Fear so happy the surgery went well for your husband. I'm gonna have a ton of stuff to watch when I get my new computer. The sound on my laptop is going in and out again...mostly out. And at work..we have thin clients - connected straight to the home office. What's with the Decca thing. Another snow day? Dang I want a day off for weather related reasons! If it's an official snow day do you all not get paid? Do you have to take a vacation day. Can you use a sick day? I'm strangely fascinated with this concept.
  2. Good luck to everyone hoping to win meet and greets. FYI my mom is in a rehab center for physical therapy which is why I'm mia. Have to go visit every evening right after work and by the time I get home I tend to fall asleep right at my computer.
  3. I did join the spark people and I enjoy all the activity going on. It's so hard though for me to do all the things I want to do. It's almost like having another job. Even when I pledge to make time for it nightly - something happens to get me off track. And yes, smaller plates DO work. Congrats to everyone who has lost weight. I'm trying. It will be something I just continue to work on no matter if I have lapses. I am on no particular diet - just want to eat a low fat diet and exercise more.
  4. Jamar, I've been done. The drama used to be interesting in an a train wreck kind of way but it's been a long time since I've even cared about anything having to do with anything other than Clay's voice. A little birdie gave me the ten cent one paragraph version of what's going on and don't care about knowing anything else. Somebody will let me know if my show is canceled before I spend one red nickle (uh what does that mean) or 10 minutes researching a place for a party. My time is that valuable these days. My hope of course is for these shows to take place and that no fan who obviously has done their part is left holding an empty bag (wallet) because I understand that every penny means something these days. Ditto. And Lucky... Absolutely on everything you said as well. Aikim baby is SOOOO cute.
  5. I'd like to push mine too -- actually not mine, but our Y has this system called FitLinxx. It keeps track of everything you do so that you just punch in your code as you go to a machine and all that you did would get recorded in an online system. When you go home, you could view everything you did that day, that week or even 5 years back. Parties, couchie and fear?!!! Please post schedules, even tentative ones, so that we could make time while planning flights! Wow that sounds fantastic especially for someone who can get overwhelmed trying to keep track of things. I did join the spark people. What I do like about it is all the activity going on and the steps taken to get you involved. I like all the recipes and the cookbook feature too. As for the pre-party I'll try to start organizing it in the next couple of weeks.
  6. Fear, my first impression of spark people from outside looking in is SHAM WOW! and then my second impression was revival meeting. But then I clicked on a few message board topics and they seem really really helpful. Can you ask your husband if once you join you feel like someone is trying to sell you something all the time. I don't really do super hyper motivational stuff. It seems like it can be very interactive though. Clayzedover - thanks. I'm thinking i might need the meetings as well. I was really curious about them and think maybe that is the extra something I need. I'm not all that interested in a web only experience from them. I can get all that elsewhere on the net - for free. And I probably wouldn't know a neighbor if one fell on me LOL. I need to start investigating a place for a party in SF for a pre or post party. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
  7. What is this spark people you speak of. I'll have to check that out. I don't normally make resolutions but have made several this year that aren't just about weight but wellness, health, etc. I just spent 3 hours in the grocery store trying to buy the correct things. Jennifer Hudson is doing her damdest to talk me into giving WW a try. If anyone has tried it, let me know what you think. It's the meetings I'm wondering about most. Are they helpful. I guess I should find the scale and start keeping track. Congrats Aikim.
  8. Sounds like a fun night. I'm not a Broadway buff and actually am not fond of shows where folks break into song but I thoroughly enjoyed the Easter Bonnet thingie so I'm sure this will be just as fun. Congrats to National Inclusion Project and all of you who voted. 50K will do a lot of good. Happy New Year. Looking forward to seeing Clay in March. Love Alan in The Good Wife. It's a fabulous show.
  9. Happy New Year's eve. I was off today but worked the other one while I watched the first season of Breaking Bad LOL. Not doing anything tonight but having a party tomorrow. Off to go grocery shopping! I've updated the recipe for the bbq shrimp. I searched some more and found the missing ingredient! What's everybody doing tonight?
  10. Scarlett - I added the recipe to Cook's Corner. The first ingredient will let you know that it is sinful. I'll cut that in half LOL.
  11. BBQ SHRIMP I went in search of the correct recipe..I knew I remembered chicken broth which the original one I posted didn't have. I see all sorts of substitutes for that butter out there but hey it's new years LOL. 1 cup (2 sticks) margarine 1/2 cup vegetable oil 1/2 cup chicken broth (canned is fine) 4 teaspoons finely minced garlic 5 whole bay leaves, torn into pieces 4 teaspoons dried rosemary, crushed 1 teaspoons dried sweet basil 1 teaspoon Greek oregano 1 teaspoon dried thyme 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon (or more) cayenne pepper 4 teaspoons paprika 1 1/2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice 2 pounds whole fresh shrimp in the shell (with heads if possible) In a heavy saute pan or saucepan melt the margarine, then add the oil and mix well. Add all the other ingredients except the shrimp and broth, and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce begins to boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 7 to 8 minutes, stirring frequently, then remove the pan from the heat and let it stand, uncovered, at room temperature for at least 30 minutes. Add the shrimp to the sauce, mix thoroughly, and put the pan back on the burner. Cook over medium heat for 6 to 8 minutes, or just until the shrimp turn pink. Add the broth, shaking the pan back and forth to mix. Preferably, place the pan into a preheated 450 degree F oven and bake for 10 minutes. Or simmer loosely covered on the stovetop for about 5 or 10 minutes. Serve equal portions of shrimp with about 1/2 cup of the sauce ladled over each one. You will need bibs and lots of bread to sop up the sauce. Also, fingers are a necessary eating utensil. Makes 5 generous (nearly 1/2 pound) servings.
  12. I have searched the web for 3 days and finally I have found my bbq shrimp recipe. No ketchup. No beer. No Worcester sauce. All is right with the world for New Years LOL. Loving the winter scene photographs. Not something I experience much unless I go up to Tahoe. Liney I couldn't even watch Good News. My sound is just jacked on this computer. I can't figure out why it works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't.
  13. Hope everyone had a great Xmas. I spent the day with my sister's family. We watched a couple of movies including This is It which I had never seen. I've been so ambivalent about Michael over the past decade because of his weirdness but that movie was just a powerful reminder of his genius and the love I have for literally hundreds of his songs. I grew up with the Jackson 5. They were my Beatles. I've seen Michael in concert a few times and he owned the stage. That show would have been amazing. And for some reason I thought he was "sickly" and "weak" before he died so seeing that fifty year old man with all that energy was surprising. Lord knows I couldn't do half of it. Now before Xmas is over I will do my usual tradition and watch the El Cajon Good News video about mumble mumble times. It's definitely one of my favorite Clay concert experiences of all time.
  14. LOL Happy Holidays however you celebrate and even if you don't. Looks like everyone is settling down with a good movie or with famiy. Tonight I will start cooking for tomorrow. I'm working so I can take the day off tomorrow. Had to brave the stores to finish my shopping. There were some good deals out there! Take it easy everyone.
  15. Yeah I honestly don't think he will ever sing that song. I hope he isn't poking a sleeping pitt bull. I think most folks had come to terms with that one. I suspect it's nothing like we suspect since our boyfriend is definitely not predictable. I did all my shopping online last night - borders and amazon. Now I just sit back and watch it all make it here before Xmas. LOL I'm most excited about what I had to help my mom buy me heee. The first season of The Wire along with a 600 page companion book. It going to be a very merry Baltimore Xmas for me. I bought these on ebay but the fake copies were just trash. I need the real thing.
  16. I'd love to hear Always and Forever. It's a song I love. It's R&B. He'd tear that song up. I love the original version and heard it recently on the radio. Totally not curious about Touch. It sounded dated in 2003 but I'm sure it'll win since it's apparently a fan favorite. The song I'd most love to hear a recorded version of is Tears Run Dry..second all time favorite Clay song.
  17. You have a good memory Bottle! I can't remember where I put my keys every morning.
