  1. Scarlett....what do you mean, "they're all in an inner directory"? If I go to a vault, do I have to just go to a concert venue, then pick a videographer and then check to see if there's an mp4 version of it? Or is there a way to find out what exists in mp4 version and then select from that?

It seems hunt and peck to do it the first way....

Thanks...I'm going to bed now---got another early morning and a full day of the conference tomorrow. I get on the plane Sat. afternoon, so I hope I can get some loaded on my new toy by then!

    :F_05BL17blowkiss:

Run a search for "mp4"" on the CH "Clack Alerts forum" to bring up the ones that already have mp4's. Also the iPod love thread has lots of links posted to converted files -- lindylo at CV and gerwhisp @ CB do a lot of conversions. And you can post requests too.

I mentioned the mp4 directory specifically for my files because all of mine have had them for over a year -- I convert my own straight from the HD files so try to use them instead of running conversions from the wmv's.

Eeeeee, Kareneh! (pauses to imagine what sort of things you're scanning)

You know, Clay should just open a techie mail-order company --> everything you need to support your habit fandom, with specials for items pre-engraved with messages from him. Along the theme of the "Snuggle up with Clay Aiken" blanket *pauses to snuggle closer and tuck in the ends*, how about "Scan along with Clay", "Clay in your PocketPC", "Large (1 TB) Clay Hard Drive"etc.

  2. omg!

I have a video ipod! Unreal. Luck. Wow. Cheap. Holy moly. Not the newest one but still....

Now what do I do?

I don't remember anything about how to convert or get what I want onto my ipod? I didn't have mine long enough two years ago to really learn before it was stolen!

Scarlett! Gibby! some other techie! Help! I'd love to get some things up/downloaded for my Houston trip!

    Please :praying:

YAY, Muski! It's soooo fun to have a new toy, especially one that allows you to enjoy Clay anytime! Check your PMs. :)

I just got a new toy tonight, too - a new HTC 8900! It's a pocket PC, so it's my phone, PDA, mp3 player, on-the-go internet connection, and video player all in one. I'm having fun figuring it all out!

Yay, Muski!!! I still keep most of my files on an original video iPod. My favorite converter is a free one called Videora but many of the popular files in the vault have been converted to mp4. All of the ones I've uploaded (eg. the DCAT shows that I have processed and the Holiday on Ice clips) have mp4 downloads and they're all in an inner directory.

Can't wait to see yours on Monday!

I dropped my primary cellcert phone into some water during opening weekend so I need a new phone. I ordered the 8GB Nokia N95 today.

Whee on the Pocket PC, Gibby!!! And for the new monitor, play!!!

  3. KAndre & Ansa,

    :whistling-1:

I resemble that remark. Look at it this way, we will all have smaller noses when we are done this. No consolation???? Ah well, I feel bad about putting you

both through this awful tedious work of playing with Clay. Sorry

    Liver

Hee, and such horrible, horrible work it is. BWAH. Geesh, to be made to watch Clay over and over and over........ ;)

It's cruel and unusual punishment! Hey, luckiest1 I can take your next watch!

  4. Thanks for the banner-love, ladies :F_05BL17blowkiss:

I made a February calendar wallpaper loosely based on it. If you want, it's located here on my yuku page along with another one. There are also clickable links for the same papers without the dates on them.

Oh, I forgot to tell you how adorable the banner is

and I love the calendars :woohoo: even though they make my heart stop!!! :ilovemypc: and :F_05BL17blowkiss:

  5. CG, I was at a seminar today about a book I'd read long ago and the reasons I do things or get affected by them was illustrated very clearly.

    Can I Do Anything?

My circle of concern consists of all the things that interest me, that affect me, people and things I love or fear or worry about, etc - Clay Aiken, the economy, Clay Aiken, math/science education for girls, Clay Aiken, global warming, Clay Aiken, violence in our society, Clay Aiken, health care, Clay Aiken etc.

My circle of influence consists of the things that I can affect, change, push one way or another, etc. - optimizing my chances of getting to Clay Aiken shows, improving the quality of TV clips, influencing the way people see Clay Aiken fans by not being pushy or demanding or intolerant of other fandoms, choosing whether or not to bring tabloid-reading into my life, etc.

I can choose to focus on my circle of concern, saying things like "X makes me so angry.... If only they would...." and feel like people sh**[tm:cute tower guy] on me all the time -- the victim attitude.

Or I can choose to focus on my circle of influence, addressing the things I can do something about and then reap the benefits of that success.

It's really fun to watch people on a classic item that is NOT within their circle of influence -- a delayed flight. There'll be one person in a rage, taking it out on the airline gate attendant, ranting about how she needs to make sure the plane gets there on time, how important his whatever-event was and "Does she know who he is?!!", etc. Whether or not that particular plane arrived on time was not within the circle of influence of the jerk or the attendant. What was in his circle of influence was how quickly he could get on the next flight and he could affect that by his behavior towards the attendant.

Not focusing on a concern doesn't mean not having an opinion -- some people see me happy most of the time and think it's because I'm either ignorant or delusional. That's inaccurate. I focus on the good and the part of the bad that I can change, then laugh at the part I can't.

While I'm a believer in Margaret Mead's "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has," it takes leadership, planning, well-targeted actions, etc to achieve this. There's a difference between one person watching a TV show and going, "I feel terrible about <world hunger>. This makes me so sad." and another person watching the same show and saying, "I want to do something about <world hunger>. Let's see, I have a band. Maybe we can have a show and donate all the proceeds. I'll talk the local pub into hosting it. (pipe dream: hey, who knows, if we get enough people interested, maybe Mick Jagger'll call me asking to participate and we can move it to the local soccer stadium)"

  6. FYI - CITH audio recommendations have begun! Hee, I know because I did them. Come on everyone, you know you wanna! Thread is here.

I thought we were waiting for a certain someone to put up her videos? It has something to do with the color red I think.

Hee, well, narrowing it down to top 3 now isn't going to hurt, right? Once a certain someone uploads her clack, we can always add one or two to the list and reorder them if we have to. I just think times a-wasting, and pretty soon no one will even care about CITH anymore. With this fandom it's always on to the next thing! And we've got some time on our hands while Clay finishes his run in Spamalot.......

You know how Liver's got my nose to the grindstone on Canandaigua, right? :officework:

    /JK :)

  7. http://nymag.com/arts/tv/features/43266/

So digging around the NY Mag I found this article on Leno. The picture cracked me up.

I was reading the article in the same issue about Eli Manning and the first part was all about how Tom Brady would have been the perfect quarterback for NYC and listed a whole bunch of his accomplishments. The equivalent for us would have been if that conversation with the stylist had been removed and replaced by, "you know, it's really Fantasia who deserves all this attention", and then proceeds to list al the reasons why she's a much better Broadway star. The NY Giants are in the Superbowl -- and they're talking about the other QB?!! I'm only just sort of rooting for the Giants this time but I was ready to throw something at the monitor.

I think they specialize in getting people to react and talk about their articles, maybe argue, maybe get upset.

('course it looked like she couldn't get a rise out of Clay so it sounded like she was getting very frustrated)

I'm still Meh about it. Don't people normally answer stupidly intrusive questions with stuff like, "Oh, I've forgotten how" or "Doesn't that end with marriage", etc.

  8. So exactly what is New York Magazine and who is the audience for it.

It has 1.8 million readers and descibes itself as "a smart, critical guide to life in the city for readers who want to stay on top of the players, trends, culture and politics of city life . It delivers timely insight on everything from local entertainment options to real estate trends, from the hottest hairstylists to the best neurologists, from the restaurant scene to the singles scene. It's a must-read for New Yorkers who want to know what's new in the city. "

I don't think it's intended to be read by middle america and IMO a "movie star picture" accompanied by a glowing article would be really stick out like a sore thumb in that magazine -- readers would probably wonder how much "payola" exchanged hands on a 90% positive article. If we can't stomach something like that, I think we should ignore it and just go on with our fangirly discussions. It's not a deliberate diss, I don't think it even qualifies as a diss where it's from... I feel like we're looking at this from a different cultural POV, kinda like star trek's data or the terminator wondering why somebody says "Oh, he's so baddd."

  9. I don't really find that article that bad. I think the interviewer sees him as someone who uses self-deprecating humor as a defense mechanism, and while some comments may be less than fawning, on the whole, she seems to recognize that he's a smart guy and a talented performer.

There were some very interesting revelations. For example, it was interesting to see that Clay recognizes the "chasm" between him and many men, and his hope that Spamalot will change some minds. If reports are to believe, it has. To me, this shows him to be a fairly shrewd individual.

As for his personal life, I can believe that he's not as obsessed with it as many of his fans are. I can also imagine that this is something he would not want to discuss in an interview, anyway. I don't worry about him, one, because he seems pretty happy, and two, he seems to get along well with the cast. He may have worried about living alone when he first moved to the city, but like so many others, I think he can deal with it.

To me, there really are no shockers in this piece. It's not the typical PR fluff piece, but it's not a hatchet job, either.

I'm not bothered by it either. We are not the target audience of the article and frankly I think a piece that would have pleased us would have turned off the readers of that magazine so much that they would have skipped right over it. This piece might intrigue enough readers to give it a glance and when they do, somewhere in there they will find out that: Clay is smart, well-informed, broad-minded, perfect in a Broadway musical, there's probably a lot more to him than the dork he always claims he is, has a whole bunch of achievements (and they were listed quite nicely), is more recognizable than many NY celebrities, is puzzling, ambitious, interesting... and in the end the article concludes that he will probably fit right in.

  10. I think we would all love a tour with a bigger coverage...unfortunately, tour promoters that do nationwide tours may not be too eager to jump in if there is no radio hit from Clay. I think the trend has been to do smaller clubs or venues first as the cd gets promoted. I think this is what Justin did. I also remember with Breakaway, Kelly started with a smaller tour first. Then if the CD has one or two hits...a bigger nationwide tour may be possible.

I think it will really depend on what the goal is for this CD. IMO ATDW was not meant for fanbase building...but to give the existing fanbase something to tide us over. I do think TC should start concentrating on trying to expand Clay;s fanbase. If that is the goal...then I hope they add radio and TV promo in the plan. There is also the question of what type of production he has. If he will have lots of orchestra...then the tours may be limited. But if its more like MOAM...then there is more flexiblity.

So my wish list...May release...with lots of radio visits and TV...I hope he takes advantage of summer hits like So You think You can dance. He can have a small tour to promote the CD August...then continue promoting during the start of the tv season. If he can have some hits off this CD...then he can have a bigger tour 2009....that would hopefully include visits to Asia, Australia, Europe and Canada.

My wishlist is for a May release, taking advantage of Mother's Day, the TV sweeps and the big finale of a show like DWTS or AI. Touring in the summer sounds good since most of the big shows will be in re-runs. Because he's on the East Coast for the early part of this year, I hope the next tour will allow the eHP to do that Pacific coast roadtrip we've always wanted (Vancouver to Williamette Valley, sampling Dungeness Crab, Wild Pacific salmon and Oregon Pinot along the way).

  11. That reminds me: luckiest1 and goldarngirl, weren't you working on a Best of Houston series? Did they ever make it to the respective vaults?

Our Houston set of montages has been available on our site since November. They were sent to the vaults but have yet to be vaulted. If you are going to grab them from our site, please be aware that you need to use a download manager because it is not a dedicated server and the download will most likely stop and start. Once they hit the main vaults, I'll give a heads up here.\

ETA: BWAH! goldarngirl beat me to it. :cryingwlaughter:

I think it's already on my server (thanks chopped liver, hey it rhymes) so if you'd allow me to help with hosting, I can just move it to the public side. Or you both can do it since you have access. (ie. make a folder called "httpdocs/members/goldarngirl&liver_heeihavetopbilling")

Just to clarify, 00lsee, I promised not to host any Spam items so I didn't make a similar offer earlier. Love you for making it, though, and I know a LOT of people appreciate it.

I'm still at work catching up on stuff I left behind to travel to the bestest weekend ever!!!

Could someone take pity on me and post a screencap from The View? I might be able to pay you back later tonight with a hi-res screencap/clip (assuming I programmed things right when I left home half-asleep this morning). *pretty please?*
