  1. The 'victim' is a student at Stanford. His sister withheld his paycheck to get him to go to the concert. Clay said he was smart enough to go to Stanford but not smart enough to handle his money. Bwah!
  2. Sounds like Ethel is taking over the show. Hee I love the concept of choosing a male Victim. Clay really comes up with some great audience participation ideas.
  3. Yes Congrats Couchie I absolutely love Clay's snarky self. "Professional piano players can cover their ears" He's such a riot! Gotta love that boy/man. EEEEE my favorite part is coming up. The 60's (Flirting) Medley
  4. Congrats couchtomato on your meet & greet. I suppose you could DO something that might bring out pissy Clay. Hee. You had better let him know that you & ansa are the owners of FCA. You should give him a card like the ones you sent out with your pins. I can't imagine how you are going to get much work done for the next 2 weeks.
  5. Yep, that Washington Post review would have read the exact same way regardless of the hijinks. I expected this kind of review for the JBT and honestly had been surprised that we haven't seen more like it. I think most Clay fans agreed that this tour was not going to bring Clay 'industry cred' because he was doing a concert of covers instead of his own 'original' material. The comment about this tour not winning new fans. Well pbttttt to him. I've read over & over about how the tour is winning new fans, particularly male fans. These too cool for school reviewers will probably never 'get' Clay & that's just too bad for them. I'm awfully glad that I was able to find Clay at the beginning of his career & I fully expect him to have a long & successful career. You know it's a sad statement when Elvis's music is only 'good enough' for Vegas. What happened to 'the King.' I lived through Elvis's later years & I know all the Elvis impersonators seem to choose the white jumpsuits & capes but that's not the Elvis that Clay covered. I still can't get over what an incredible job Clay does in his ability to take on the persona of the person he is covering in the early medleys especially. The first time I saw him take on Paul MaCartney's rendition of Can't Buy Me Love I couldn't believe how accurate that head shake is/was. Of course this was early in their career & many people might not recognize it but man it took me back. I just can't imagine how hard it must be to sing & try to shake your head like that, but that is exactly what Paul use to do. I'm so glad that Clay decided to make this show as big as it is. He could have easily done an hour of covers plus a couple of new songs and I still would love the show because it's Clay & his voice is unbelievable but instead he took on this huge project & it is really a fantastic show.
  6. I have a theory about this. With all the music that's being sung for this show, I'm wondering if he stuck this in because he already learned it a year ago. If you take a look at the set list, there's many songs he's sung before (GBOF and WDC for example) or was at least familiar with from his AI days (the BeeGees stuff, ANL). My theory is that he threw in some songs he hasn't sung in a while but was familiar with because he had SO many other lyrics to learn! JMO, of course. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I honestly think that is exactly why he included WDC. One less song to learn & learn new choreography for. Personally I suspect if he had not messed with WDC last night but left in all the rest you wouldn't be hearing any complaints today. This may not be politically correct but I think it's because Clay took the smoke out of WDC that most people are upset & they are just complaining about all of the antics as being unprofessional. I watched the clip & there is no chasing Angela all over the stage with the ice. He calls her back & she comes to him for the dance. Then they try to get the ice down each others clothes. So describing it as chasing her around the stage makes it sound much more juvenile than it was. Personally, while I'm not a fan fic reader AT ALL, I sure see a story line unfolding between Clay & Angela & that is a whole lot hotter than a choreographed dance. Oh, and Clay singing on Angela's lap >>>humina, humina (tm ShelleyC)
  7. I love this song EOTR! Their harmonies are wonderful!
  8. The bolded part made me lol but the fact is what she said is true. And I personally don't think screaming in the middle of a quiet song could be called spontaneous. I think it's planned & is definitely done then so Clay will hear it. I would love to blame it on the tweenies but those voices on the clack sure don't sound like tweenies to me! Honestly this bolded part upsets me even more than inappropriate screaming. I do think the majority of Clay fans that travel to several concerts have long past their tweenies years behind and what they are doing it SOOOOO disrespectful to Clay & all the fans who don't live on the internet & see Clay's shows umpteen times. I believe most people found the jokes funny (or at least amusing) the first time we heard them. It's almost like the fans become hecklers when they yell out Clay's lines.
  9. I'm right there with you KAndre, so I would love an answer to this also. Some one broke down the lyrics last night that made me love the song even more. She compared the story of the lyrics to "Love Story." Oh God, that did it for me. I will now ALWAYS love 1000 Days. Some of my absolute favorites in this tour have 'inane' lyrics. It's how the artist sells the song for me. I am inappropriately in love with the 60's Medley. It's just so much fun. I also really love the teasing that goes on between Clay, Angela, & Quiana. It's cute, sweet, & oh so hot. Though I still thing the pinacle of all things hot was when Clay spontaneously sang to Maureen during WDC at Greenville. Actually it's not the singing part, it's when they are both moving up and down to the beat. Woah, I think I need to go watch that one again.
  10. I really like 1000 Days. He so wails on it. I am so impressed with the band. How amazing that they could just perform that song without rehearsing it. I hope Clay can keep this group together for the next tour.
  11. Were they really planning on playing ICHM or was it in response to a request. I can't really hear what Clay was saying. It almost sounded like he was saying that the band could play anything & then he took a request. Is that really what happened? If it is, can I just say that was amazing!
  12. I'm loving the whole show but I really like the 60's medley for all the silly fun songs from that era. He so matches the nuances of the originals in the visual performances too. He really sounds incredible. I find it laughable that people have said they think his voice is straining through the tour. I think what they are hearing are vocal stylings that he is playing with. That Solitaire was fantastic.
  13. There's just something about Clay's Sugar Sugar that I really really really love! I can see him singing over Angela's & Quiana's shoulders and hitting that pure tone. It makes me smile every time I hear it.
  14. Yeah, he spotted binoculars from the 2nd row. Asked what could they be looking at. Bwah!
  15. Jacob, Angela, & Quiana really are working just as hard as Clay on this tour. It would not be the same without them. All four of the singers + the whole band work as a cohesive unit. I also think Angela has great stage presence & I love her confidence in the way she happily flirts with Clay. I've always felt she loves teasing the audience with playing the whole "You just wish you were me" vibe.
  16. I really hated that soprano sax during the NAT. I just realized that I haven't even noticed the sax during the JBT and now I understand why. It no longer stands out on its own. I've gone back and specifically listened for it and I found that it really blends in as part of the band. I do love all the harmonizing we are getting on this tour. I do feel that Quiana stands out because of the physical reaction I get when she sings. It may be because she seems to have purer tones than Angela does for me. I'm happy that Jacob is not trying to kill any cats this time around. What he did at the end of Fire & Rain should be illegal. I really think the thing I'm enjoying the most is Clay's interactions with all three of them. I was blown away with the video of WDC from last night when he went over and started singing to Maureen the new keyboardist. Wow, that was hot!
  17. I know I haven't seen this suggested anywhere else but couldn't Fran have just signed on to help get the foundation off the ground for a couple of years. She does have her own Law practice. Regardless, I'm glad that the foundation is doing well and I hope that the naysayers don't find something else to complain about.
  18. I find it very amusing that JFL is that poster because she was slammed when she first posted. People asked her to prove that she was really at the Access Hollywood interview & she posted that he had an orange shirt on. After Access Hollywood showed the interview posters were arguing that the shirt was red not orange. Bwah! I wonder if that was why Clay said who she was.
  19. I hope this is ok. Since Clay said it I figured that it should be ok. If not please delete. Ok, so I couldn't resist the temptation to see what she has been saying. Her last post is short but sweet. The one before that is
  20. Clay said JFL's screen name at OFC is clayandr. That is the poster who said she was at his rehearsal & what he was wearing on Access Hollywood. She posted several times prior to the tour. I haven't been over there since the tour started so I don't know if she kept posting.
  21. Well I guess if Shelley can do it I will too. Shelley, Sapphire & I rode to the concert in SkateJoy & buzzie’s rental car. We had no problem finding the venue, due to Shelley’s detailed planning. The concert was amazing. It really is more like a musical review than a ‘concert.’ Clay does a fantastic job almost becoming the artist he is representing, at least for the icons. His Elvis is not to be missed. I also see teacher Clay in the script of this show. Every decade is introduced by talking about what was happening in the world at the time and how it affected music. They used that time for costume changes & it worked perfectly. The whole show is staged & choreographed wonderfully. Clay was clearly having a fantastic time & so was the audience. He has wonderful repore with his band & back-ups. They are so amazingly talented. I’m glad Clay has had an on going relationship with many of them. There was lots of minor teasing going on between the girls & Clay. There was one point where Quiana & Angela are sitting on the steps on either side of Clay & he is singing to each of them. Well when he started singing to Quiana, she began making lovey-dovey faces at him & he was doing everything he could not to giggle. I see that SkateJoy caught the moment beautifully. See her FCA pics. I really, really, really love Back for More. Did I say really? I had downloaded a cleaned up version on my iPod before the trip and lets just say, Sapphire & I almost made Shelley sick of it. Apparently someone forgot to tell me that it is possible to listen to a Clay song too much. I also really like Just You. Clay just wails on it. After the concert we all piled in buzzie’s car but when we were led out of the venue we couldn’t go back the way we came. Somehow Shelley had not anticipated this & therefore she did not have directions to get back to the hotel. You have to understand that the concert was in the middle of no where & our hotel was also in the middle of no where. Thus began the funniest car ride I think I have ever experienced. Think 1 NYC driver +4 back seat drivers, no locals, no map & all on a Clay high. Squealing in the back seat looking at SkateJoy’s pictures while everyone tries to tell buzzie which way to turn lends for lots of sudden turns, and more squeals. We did find our way home eventually. It really was a fantastic show. I can't wait to see it again.
  22. I didn't know anyone else knew that Kevin Bacon was on Guiding Light. Takes, me back. Yep, I've been a fan that long & he was the first person I thought of when I saw Clay sing Somewhere Out There on AI. He looked so much like Kevin Bacon during his Footloose days. OK, I admit it, I swooned just a bit, even before he opened his mouth and let that glorious voice out.
  23. EEEEEEEEEE!!!! Couchtomato loves the Footloose soundtrack too! As heard on CH cellcert. Me Too!!!!!
  24. Clay just said on the cellcert that Jaymes Foster-Levy is there tonight. I LOVE Back for More!
