  1. {{{ldyjocelyn}}} How sad for you!

I might've been testing my cellstreams a time or 10 today. OK, fess up. How many of you have, like me, signed up for CH and CV cellstreams just in case one or the other goes out. LOL!

And this is why we need more rail service in this country - safe travelling. (well, until people walk on the rails - Monorail the coutntry! Yes!

WORD to this. I love trains. I had the pleasure of using the Japanese train system for a couple of years--it was so wonderful. Just took the train to DC a couple of weeks ago. Parked a few steps from the station. So much less stress and strain than flying.

  2. This program is encouraging all states to tell their single, youngish residents that they should avoid sex entirely until they turn 30.

Yeah, right. Good luck with that.

ldyjocelyn, I think you have the right attitude. Not worth risking your life for. Sorry this bad weather has come up. I know the hardest part for me is often making the decision what to do, whether to go or not. I know you'll make the right decision.

  3. When I responded that there is a HUGE difference between people scaling his fence, stalking him at home or ripping up the grass at his mother's and inviting a TV station in to see what he chooses them to see, I was told "We all see what we want to see". :glare:

One more example why I love this place! :)

I was going to comment, but then I saw this....

some people are looking through shit covered glasses.

    'Nuff said, and BWAH!!

  4. I ain't skeered of no bug--and just in case, I did another scan, and it didn't come back, so pfffffttttt.

Can you believe that I hatesssss Christmas music? I do. Except when Clay is singing it. Then I can't pick favorites cause I love so many. Especially on the day when my AIW CD came.

my favorite Clay is Chilling Clay...singing beautiful complex melodies.

Mine too, with some rock, pop, country, and R&B for flavor and variety.

I bet Clive has a good friend in that insurance company and got them to screw my mom over because he knows what an...enthusiastic Clay Fan her daughter is!

Yeah! Yeah! That's the ticket! I broke the code in the insurance claim paperwork! It said, "Ineligible for this procedure" and it really meant, "Clive Davis told us not to pay you 'cuz you love Clay Aiken!"

    Damn, I'm smart. :P

    I believe, I believe! [/snark]

Clay is a grown ass man and can handle it.

    Multiple choice:

    A. Thread Title!!!!11one!!eleven!

    B. I'd like to see that. :P

    C. WORD!

    I second A, B, and C!!

  5. jmh123...maybe they have a secret pod people language. I suppose many phrases would be code for Clive is F'ing me ..from Clay

I think you nailed it!

oh well...now the focus would be the high sales Daughtry is expected to have...I hear Clive didn't want Clay to rock so that he won't compete with Chris...uh huh...

Yup, and Clay was dying to rock out, if only he were allowed to. (I think the truth is in the middle--he didn't want to go for Top 40/urban/alt rock but neither did he want to go for all slow ballads. Hot AC was what he had in mind, according to him.)

Funny how I tend to take Clay at his word and listen to what he says. Guess I'm delusional that way.

  6. This is me listening to All Is Well:

    173820904.jpg

Sorry bout the cat, Clay. Heh.

IMO, this is the best recording since the demos (with the exception of "On the Wings of Love"). I've always been mystified as to why no producer could replicate the quality of a $2000 demo record made to karaoke tracks. Now I know that whatever it is, Clay Aiken, if allowed to, knows how to do it. This bodes well for the future, whomever he's recording for.

Add me to the list of people waiting to see Christmas Clay with long hair. Sigh. Here I go again:

    173820904.jpg

  7. Entertainment Tonight, the entertainment show with the highest ratings, led with the story the night after the AMAs, and ended with it. Not the winners, not an AMA performance, or Michael Richards, the TomKat wedding, but the Feud, and Clay's few seconds as a presenter. Just like with the AI5 finale. I think that's what Regis was alluding to when he said, "What was his name?" Everyone knows who Clay is. His Q factor must be through the roof. And everyone is talking about him this week, everyone, my family members who don't even watch TV are talking about him. My sweet old dotty mom who lives in a kind of groundhog day world, has asked me for three days in a row now to "explain the bruhaha over Clay" (having forgotten already that I tried to explain it the day before).

Of course RCA couldn't possibly have anything to do with this, and there couldn't be any element of it orchestrated in his favor, because TPTB couldn't possibly be looking at his potential as a Star, and his management company couldn't possibly have arranged any part of this as a part of an image-changing series of appearances spanning the last several months. Nah. Just divine coincidence.

Karma is that man's bitch, however. Really, I think, because he is a good man. He always takes the high road. He reminds me of a big old clunky dog who just can't quite contain his exuberance when he's happy and having fun, and sometimes steps over the line because he doesn't know his own strength. He is snarky, sharp-tongued (as we've known all along) but never with the kind of malice so many have leveled at him for the last three years. But he will give back what he gets, fearlessly. People are seeing the real Clay these days, more and more, and they seem to be wanting to see more, do they not? I hope that a way will be found to make that possible. He's a guy who should be on TV, quality TV, not this manufactured stuff which is (for now) a necessary evil, but a regular presence. If not a talk show, then a variety show, or a recurring acting part.

At any rate, I don't think his career is in any danger.

Hey, wonder if SNL is reflecting on the ratings possibilities of a hosting gig rather soon?

    [/random mental ramblings]

  8. Where's Kelly (Ripacrite)'s picture? Will people ever think Ripa's who is being talked about when you say the one name, Kelly? And the lack of recognition would not be just because Kelly's a common name. There's a Jennifer there, a Jessica, a Tom.

My oh my what amazing company he has on that cover!

He's the only one among them who hasn't made a movie, and, with one or two exceptions, at least one really, really good movie. Our BF is big like a movie star y'all.

    Nyah, nyah, nyah!!

  9. I'm off on the train (adventure!) to DC tomorrow for a conference. I think I've almost convinced myself to leave my laptop behind. Almost. It'll be easier to travel without the extra bulk, even though I have a very lightweight model, and I would mainly be using it on the train anyway, but I won't have any internet on the train, so is it worth it? If I don't take my computer, I won't see Regis & Kelly until Monday. What to do, what to do?

So I might not be online until Monday night. If I'm not, y'all have a blast. I expect to see eeeeeing and squeeeeing in this little pod free zone, at the very least. Enjoy the listening party too! :)

  10. {{{Claygasm}}}. It isn't clear to me whether the daughter is the one who actually obtained the tickets. If so, then I suppose she could feel like she has first dibs on them, but the way you describe the e-mail it makes it sound as if the mother made the choice. In your shoes, I would definitely be  at this friend. She could have at least called rather than e-mailed. Atinal, your response is worthy of Dear Abby, and I mean that in a good way.
  11. I thought you might be referning to my bitch remark about people who are now blaming Faye for the lack of a single on the radio, albeit indirectly. In contrast to above, this would be lack of perspective.

I missed this one. How in the world could Faye have had anything to do with that? Not that these notions people get have to actually make sense or anything....

JennaZ, I've had my moments of jealousy that hurt as well, definitely. You have made a lovely list--and as far as I know, a lot of those firsts are still not shared by more than one, if any other Idol contestants. I don't really keep up with any of them beyond reading the CH Idol forum, so please correct me if I'm mistaken here:

He was the first idol to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone.

The only other to have had a cover was Ruben--which turned out to be a poor seller. Taylor's never materialized, though it had been rumored.

The first to have the cover of Teen People. Any others? Carrie? Not sure....

The first to have a solo cover on Entertainment Weekly. Have there been any others? Not sure...

More TV Guide covers (four including the duel covers) than any other idol. Have any others had even one solo cover? Not sure....

The first to have his own network television special. First and only.

The first to have his own calendar. Meh--lots of those out now. And we can't even get a new one.

The first to publish his autobiography. Fantasia's the only other, so far. And Clay's the only one to make the NYTimes best-seller list, isn't he?

The first to be a musical guest on Saturday Night Live. Only Kelly still.

Was he the first to do a GMA Bryant Park concert? Taylor's the only other that I know of so far, and I think he got Clay's spot.

  12. OK, the selfish bitch reference....someone at a certain board posted the HDD results article HDD always publishes on Wednesdays, and that poster added congratulations to a couple of artists mentioned, whereupon a string of people followed saying they didn't want to hear about anyone but Clay and saying they were selfish bitches unable to celebrate anyone else's success. I was just so tempted to post, "I'm not a selfish bitch...," but I didn't want to be whacked with another trout. I'm complaining about all the complaining. Yes, I see the irony.

ETA: JennaZ, it isn't so much that I love hearing about everyone else as that I thought there was a big pile-on going on that the poster didn't deserve. I do get weary of the constant jealousy of others, AI contestants and others--so-and-so was on Ellen and Clay wasn't, Clive said something nice about so-and-so and not about Clay, and that kind of thing. It seems so petty. Yes, there are artists I resent, and no, I'm not a huge fan of a bunch of other artists. And yes, I'm being petty about people being petty.

\...What makes me suspicious is that he describes promotion as "slim to none." I would bet there are a thousand artists who would beg to differ with the notion that appearances on Leno, Kimmel, GMA, Larry King, The View, Megan Mullalley, Regis and Kelly, Tyra Banks, Marta Stewart, Yahoo!, iTunes, MySpace, Wal-Mart, The AMA's, TV Guide Channel, People Magazine, KTLA, and commercials on shows like Oprah qualify as "slim to none."

Don't forget Larry King Live. Definitely not a standard stop for album promo. And look who else was on his week, during sweeps.

Um.. no biggie, but I didn't forget Larry. :)

Good lord, I am blind. I looked for it, and looked again. Sigh.

  13. I thought SAM was, if not out to get Clay, certainly guilty of neglecting their duties towards him. But I guess they're the less of the evils when it comes to explaining Clay's appearances.

If you can post "I'm a selfish bitch," why can't you post, "I'm not a selfish bitch"? KAndre you did good on that one.

Loved the radio bit with Ryan. Loved.

  14. I think the CH attitude comes from the place of origin - TWOP, the others I really question. How many times can you post at CB that wishing Clive Davis a horrible death violates the TSU - and yet the mods do noting about it.

Of course the CB mods do nothing--most of them are True Believers in the conspiracy. As influential people on the largest board, they gave those theories a lot of potency by expressing them loudly and often at the OFC and elsewhere. CH started when they got kicked off TwoP for being too fangirlie, as did the Bo fans a couple of years ago. A lot of the oldtimers think CH is now too nicey-nice. I disagree. I think in the old days there was more clever, funny snark, which is altogether different from posting things like, "I think Clay's a jerk."

Now let's talk about ingratitude - newspaper article about donated CDs for the military - OK, so you don't like Clay Aiken....

Agreed -- I guess it was more important to be cool than to be grateful or accurate.

ETA: I'm very proud of Clay for the award he received last night, and how typically modest of him to simply mention "an event" and say nothing of the award.
