  1. (((muski)))...heh

Well, the older I get, the more I realize that most of my issues really are MY issues...and often have little to do with those people or events I think I am "upset" about. So, my reactions to Clay tell me more about myself than about Clay. That being said, I would LOVE to meet him someday....if only to find out if those eyes have the same effect up close that they do through binoculars. :)

  2. And a lot of angst re: taunting seems to me to be reaction to someone's personal history, like the dislike of sarcasm. It's sort of difficult to deal with everyone's personal history, especially if you don't feel that way.

That's it in a nutshell, O Mighty Mistress. I know I have filters and hot buttons, some of which are almost totally unconscious. When I find myself reacting strongly to something, if I consciously apply my mind to it, most of the time, I can come up with something (usually from childhood) that the incident or conversation triggered. It makes life interesting. heh

And see, I can promise not to mention a secret Clay tells me because the odds are I will never be tested on that promise. :cry4:

First - who knows if what we are hearing he said is actually what he said, or an interpretation run through individual filters?

Secondly, if what we are hearing is correct, he already sounds pissed - almost as if he's disgusted with us. He sounds like a disappointed parent and that gets my back up.

Even if we are getting an exact quotation, it seems to me it still can't help but be interpreted through the individual filters of each person. And some interpretations/filters create pain/anger while others do not. Seems like proving one's own point. Maybe? Fortunately for me, what I happen to "hear" hasn't pushed any of my personal hot buttons. And trust me, I definitely have a "disappointed parents" button. ((HUGS))

  4. Okay...on to more serious matters:

    lover's furious cold shoulder....

In contemplation of my fractured grammar, I have to amend this to read "furious lover's cold shoulder" ...because as broad as they are, as much as Clay Aiken's shoulders have taken on a life of their own and become a distinct erotic fixation to some...so far as I am personally aware, shoulders do not, in general, take on actual emotions. I mean, they can certainly feel...as in "feel a tender caress" or "feel a slow, calculated scrape of fingernails"...but not, you know, actually feel feelings. Wait...I mean, his shoulders can feel feelings as in someone "feeling their solid warmth with eager fingertips" or "feeling their soapy-slick--"...*gasp*...guiltily hands soap back to Scarlett...

    ...Where was I?

Yes, so...yes, I'm sure they can feel those kinds of feelings...But, for a shoulder to be "furious" seems unlikely. As for "cold", a shoulder may be physically cold, as when the shower spray doesn't quite reach while in a certain position or when the comforter slips down around one's waist...but in this instance, "cold shoulder" is an expression meaning "to snub" to "treat with disdain or indifference"...or...er...to "withdraw emotionally and/or physically". In this case, this could mean to "withdraw clackifully", which is what I don't want.

I don't know. I'm confused. And easily distracted by that scissor-thighs gif. Make it stop! (You know I don't mean that...but I feel compelled to at least put up a pretense of resistance). Hm. The thighs look....strong.

    :)

    admires FromClaygary's big girl panties...

Yes, but I bet hers don't say "Tuesday"!

    ****************************************

Okay, so I respect Clay and I will try to respect his wishes...but if bootleg shows up at some point, I'm a hypocrite and would want to see it. But as for demanding/expecting clack of a Broadway show and being angry or even greatly disappointed about not getting it, well...As much as I want to see him in this role, it doesn't seem worth the risk of someone going to court/jail, which could easily happen if the powers-that-be decided to make an example of one of our videographers. I also don't want the media to get a fan-related "scandal" that will distract the public from Clay's success on Broadway.

So...I'm disappointed, but resigned. If anything turns up, I will be delighted, but I will also try to be a little sorry. I mean, I will try to feel guilty as I devour it. I mean...Well, I WANT to be high-minded...it's just difficult! I'm such a clack...uh...floozy.

I do cherish the hope that "our" cooperation on this matter will earn his continued goodwill and make him proud of "us". What can I say? I'm a pleaser as well as a floozy...AND...I'm also a wuss...I admit it...quite simply, I dread the wrath and long memory of this exceedingly strong-willed man. As regards to future clack, there's nothing quite so frigid as a lover's...what was his word? Furious? As a lover's furious cold shoulder.

So, if it truly is a trade-off between seeing/missing this Broadway performance and returning to/avoiding the dangerous and aggravating days of dodging Jerome's aisle-diving...well...

This issue certainly ups the stakes of my getting to New York.

  6. I will eventually write about this in my recap, but I wanted to say that I was utterly captivated by the expressions playing over Clay's face during his performance in DC.

Wherever you get your downloads (and if you have a problem, let me know), this clip is a good example of what I mean 071202_DC_IBHFC-TCS-HYAMLC_4192spooky_large.wmv Video hardly does those eyes justice, because in person, magnified by binoculars, bringing that dear face this close...he really is a lovely and remorseless killer.

Honestly, the man has the most dangerously subtle eyelids I have ever seen. Yes, he often employs them with frankly seductive skill...but when he caresses with them...ah...it's a mix of tender and intense. That slow blink, those drifting lashes, the sidelong glance. All seemingly gentle, soft, soothing, safe...until he drops his chin and openly looks...and the unwary are suddenly trapped by a stunning direct gaze. Inviting. Deadly. Those eyelids. Those eyes. And then...he smiles.

  7. Hey, still need to write a recap (yes, I'm still high from the experience)...but I wanted to just mention a random Clay sighting at Target. Over by the Christmas stuff in Target...one of those kiosks that play samples of various albums. One of my daughters pricked up her ears and asked, "Isn't that Clay?" We looked around for the source of the sound, found the kiosk...and naturally had to press Clay's button again to hear the three samples from "Merry Christmas with Love". His album was $9.99 and it appears that the lawsuit-inspiring "security" software has been removed from this new issue. There were only two copies on the shelf and he looked beautiful with his head resting there amid his twinkly lights. My non Clay-fan kid said that his smile looked like he was up to something. heh Oh, yes. He probably is. :)

Maybe I'm missing something here - and truly I am not trying to stir the turd, as our boyfriend might say - but is there something wrong with someone thing that FOR THEM, IN THEIR OPINION they found the concert somber and solemn?

Actually, I was laughing about the dichotomy, because it just goes to show how different perceptions can be. I was also making a teensy (tiny, miniscule) joke by substituting "opinion" for "complaining" based on our board discussion earlier about how much is too much where expressing opinions is concerned.

    cindilu

I think the difference is when they use 'somber and solemn' as a condemnation, not merely their own personal feelings about the show.

And yes, I also meant THAT. And of COURSE those who want to express it in a condemning or non-condemning way are certainly FREE to do so.

And no...the perceptions of "sober" and "solemn" and "joy" are not mutually exclusive.

    I was LAUGHING, y'all!

It just struck me as F-U-N-N-Y.

And so, I was expressing my OPINION that it was funny. That's it. That's all.

I'm going to go get my giggle back now.

  9. ldyjoceyln

    This show is total joy

This description cracks me up....when there are others complai-...er...stating their opinions ...about how "somber" and "solemn" the show is. LOL! I'll take joy any day!

keepingfaith...you're not going to a show? I thought you were! :cry4:

Y'all, I'm making an extraordinary effort here....I have seen the set-list...I have seen photos...I am even downloading the clack...but I'm NOT watching or listening to any of it. I have audio on my ipod for the RETURN trip home...but this is the first show I'm attending where I have not spoiled myself silly beforehand. Such a display of fortitude and self-control is unprecedented, believe me...but I hope it will help me enjoy Clay's creation even more...seeing it for the first time LIVE. :)

  10. Claygasm

Its a dangerous thing when only one point of view is tolerated and encouraged. There are boards out there like that but thank god FCA isn't one of them.

I didn't see an endorsement of board censorship...just an expression of personal preferences. Which you called unacceptable. In your opinion, of course. Which, IMO, is also just an expression of personal preferences. *g*

Drat! I almost caught my tail that time!

  11. Oh girl, this is just my opinion, colored by many things, but I'd prefer never to hear the words "Clay Aiken" spring from the putrid lips of Sam Malone. Asshat doesn't even begin to describe that prick. I doubt you'd get satisfaction from Sam Malone -- and if he EVER played Clay Aiken songs, I'd never hear it because I refuse to let his dogbreath voice enter my world. So .... ya think my feelings about that human fecal matter are strong enough? I can do better.

bwah! keepingfaith, don't hold back! (((((HUGS))))) thanks, sweetie. :)

  12. Too late, merrieeee, muskifest and I have already met....but now I plan to slink around wearing my fake glasses/moustache disguise to preserve my...er...reputation? (don't worry, I'll bring a set for each of you!) :whistling-1: hee

    KAndre

I dunno - I've always had the impression that many, if not most of the more successful touring musical acts really don't get the radio exposure - Dave Matthews Band, The Dead, etc.

Not to quibble, Oh Mighty Mistress Mine, but while these musical acts don't get monster radio exposure NOW, necessarily, didn't they each at some point have radio hits?

    ETA:

Ah, thanks, ldyj, I knew I had heard them on the radio at SOME point, although my main experience with them was my husband's collection! And DMB, while they were successful BEFORE radio, just illustrate my point from earlier...that the group was not on my radar before I (as in me, personally) heard them on the radio.

    Heh...like a dog with a bone, is I. lol
