So here is an article explaining Clay's Insider stint...he is interested in talk TV ...EEEEEEEE!!!!! love me some more CLay on TV!!!!! and it seems he is making a difference in rating too...COOL!!!!!

New Name in TV Talk: Clay

Clay Aiken has done three stints as a celebrity interviewer on 'The Insider.' *

By DANNY HOOLEY AND JOYCE CLARK HICKS, Staff Writers

Singer Clay Aiken seems to be training for a new career lately -- as a TV interviewer.

In the style of Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath, now a co-host for "Extra," Aiken is a semiregular celebrity correspondent for "The Insider."

Since Aiken's Sept. 18 debut as red-carpet interviewer for the Emmy edition of Pat O'Brien's syndicated celebrity show, he has appeared on the show twice more, covering the "Dancing With the Stars" dance-off and visiting the set of "Reba."

Clay Smith, supervising producer of "The Insider" for Paramount Pictures, says that, so far, Aiken is hired on a story-by-story basis, and that nothing is planned for him in the near future. That may change, though.

Smith says Paramount and Aiken's camp may meet this week to discuss extending the relationship.

"I think that Clay aspires to many things beyond his recording career, and I think he's just investigating possibilities right now," he says. "He is such a natural, and so good at what he's done here at the show. Viewer reaction has been amazing."

That reaction, he says, has come in e-mail, letters, phone calls and ratings, which he says are up four-tenths of a percent from when the show premiered in September 2004.

"When you're up almost half a point in this competitive market, I think you have to attribute a lot of that increase to Clay's appearance on the show," Smith says.

Aiken's stint with "The Insider" was sparked by a friendship between Smith and Roger Widynowski, Aiken's publicist at RCA Records. Smith says that one day, when Aiken's name came up in conversation, Widynowski mentioned that if any openings for a celebrity correspondent occurred, Aiken was game to do it, "whatever that may lead into."

As the Emmys approached, Smith thought of Aiken.

"He [Aiken] was ecstatic, because he is apparently a television junkie. He knows every single thing about TV," Smith says. "He loves it. The Emmys are his favorite awards show, and he just knew the nominees forward and backwards."

"The Insider" airs weeknights at 7:30 on WRAL.

Aiken fans can get an up-close and personal look at the singer when he plays the RBC Center in Raleigh on Dec. 22.

William Joseph Joins Holiday Tour With Clay Aiken

BURBANK, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 10/19/2005 -- Piano virtuoso William Joseph will open for Clay Aiken on a holiday tour scheduled to cross the country in November and December spreading cheer to thirty-five cities, including a three-night run at New York City's Beacon Theater and two nights at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.

In addition to performing holiday classics such as "Carol of the Bells" and others, Joseph will also perform tracks from his debut album, "Within." Discovered by legendary Grammy® Award-winning producer David Foster, William Joseph released his solo album "Within" on 143/Reprise Records. "Within" features a mix of original compositions, reworked rock classics, as well as classical pieces from his days as a child prodigy.

With early influences ranging from Elton John to Metallica to Rachmaninoff, Joseph is a true crossover artist appealing to pop music fans and classical aficionados alike. Amazon.com raves "Joseph is blessed with a forceful technique and an ear for drama that recalls [Roger] Williams in his prime, and approaches his material with a kitsch-be-damned, crowd-pleasing verve that occasionally invokes 1970s prog-rock excesses without apology."

The press release is here!

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Clay Aiken might sing "I'll Be Home

for Christmas," but he won't be, as he embarks on his "JOYFUL NOISE 2005"

tour, his second consecutive holiday tour. The RCA Records artist will perform

40 shows in 36 cities, starting Nov. 2 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

The tour then crosses into the United States, and concludes with two shows on

Dec. 29-30 at the Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, Florida.

"JOYFUL NOISE 2005" tour is the sequel to Aiken's first holiday tour,

which was a huge success, playing to sold-out theaters at every stop. The 2005

tour will feature songs from Aiken's platinum-selling "Merry Christmas with

Love," the best-selling new holiday album of 2004. The song list will differ

from the 2004 tour, and will include a number of songs Clay recorded for the

album that didn't appear on the CD, as well as new arrangements for some

traditional favorites.

"JOYFUL NOISE 2005" tour will feature a new element - a series of

vignettes with a running storyline, written by Aiken. The vignettes will

feature two main characters and supporting roles will be cast in each city

with local actors.

"I've always loved Christmas music and holiday songs," says Aiken. "And

even though there's no place like home for the holidays, I'm looking forward

to touring the country with the second installment of the 'Joyful Noise'

tour."

This is the sixth tour of Clay's career, and it caps a busy year with a

schedule filled with everything from fulfilling his role as UNICEF Ambassador

to being a reporter for the TV series "The Insider." Aiken has also been in

the studio recording his next album, and will continue to work on that project

during the closing months of 2005.

As part of his UNICEF duties, Aiken is the spokesperson for their annual

trick-or-treat fundraising campaign. While the money raised from this effort

is usually earmarked exclusively for other countries, this year, for the first

time, half of the money raised will be donated to victims of Hurricane Katrina

in the United States.

Wrapping for inclusion info:

The Bubel/Aiken Foundation is proud to announce a holiday awareness campaign and fundraiser, Wrapping for Inclusion. From November 20-December 24, volunteers of The Bubel/Aiken Foundation will set up gift-wrapping booths at stores and malls across the country and wrap gifts in exchange for donations. The donations will support the mission statement of the foundation, serving the vision of inclusion opportunities for children of all abilities.

Monies raised will help fund projects of The Bubel/Aiken Foundation including its YMCA initiative. The past two summers, camps for children with and without disabilities, were instituted by the Foundation in collaboration with YMCAs in Kansas City, Missouri and in the North Carolina cities of Concord and Raleigh.

We have secured locations to wrap in many states and cities across the country and we are seeking more wrappers! We are looking for volunteers of all ages and abilities. You can give as much or as little time as you would like! Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate in any way possible!

Why not:

    * Get a team of teachers, students, and parents together and make it a community service project.

    * Post a notice in your church newsletter or bulletin and form a team to give back for the holiday season.

    * Volunteer for a day with your family to celebrate the spirit of giving.

    * Gather a group of students from your school and pair with students from a special needs school to promote inclusion and make some new friends.

    * Ask charitable organizations in your community to make a donation of their time and help wrap for an evening.

    * Have a friendly competition between two groups, grades, classes, organizations, etc. and see who can log the most wrapping hours.

    * Ask your local Boy Scout or Girl Scout troop to get involved.

Come one, come all and join in the fun! Every person no matter what your age or ability is encouraged to be a part of this great event! You decide how much time you can give and when you would like to wrap.

We are also seeking donations of wrapping supplies: seasonal or plain-colored wrapping paper, bows, ribbons, tape, scissors or monetary donations to purchase these supplies.

To volunteer for this great project, to donate supplies, or for more information, please e-mail Trudy Littleton, at tlittleton@kc.rr.com. For additional foundation information, email contactus@thebubelaikenfoundation.org.

Washington Post is going to do an online interview on Monday. You can read the article here.

UNICEF Ambassador

Clay Aiken

National Spokesperson, 2005 Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF Campaign and Recording Artist

Monday, October 31, 2005; 1:00 PM

Clay Aiken, national spokesperson for the 2005 Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign and "American Idol" finalist and multiplatinum recording artist, will be online Monday, Oct. 31, at 1 p.m. ET for a special AUDIO discussion about this year's fundraising program.

United States Fund for UNICEF

Submitt your questions and comments before or during the discussion. An AUDIO link will be provided for listening upon its conclusion. There will be no transcript of the discussion.

Last March, Aiken traveled to the tsunami stricken region of Indonesia where he visited many affected children at schools and shelters. Most recently, he visited Uganda where a civil war has been raging since 1988 and more than 20,000 children have been abducted to be used as combatants or sex slaves. And he has taken his mission to help and protect vulnerable children to the U.S. Congress where he challenged the nation's leaders to keep their commitment to these children.
