  1. lickiest1 -- have a fantastic time with the 3-fer this weekend, and travel safe!

    :Tour3: :Tour3: :Tour3:

I love reading all these recap, and I'll have to check out the thread with the college age students. As a member of staff at a community college, I can legally join Facebook. I might have to do that now and join up with the Claymate groups.

couchie, ITA on the reactions of the Japanese fans. That's so sweet to hear about their gushing reactions, and I LOL'd at them pulling out the words to TWYMMF!

What a lovely bunch of women we all are!! Thanks for the pictures!

Crap. You mean I HAVE to watch the Pala WISYS again? OK, you've twisted my arm. *g*

Clay Aiken and His Orchestra: an Exciting Evening at Fantasy Springs

Clay Aiken And His Orchestra: An Exciting Evening At Fantasy Springs

    Leslie Andrews 07.AUG.07

Clay Aiken, best known from his American Idol fame, performed a knock-out show with his orchestra behind him at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino Sunday evening.

Aiken wowed crowds with mostly covers, but of recognizable tunes, like Paul Young’s “Every Time You Go Away”, Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel”, Badfinger’s “Without You”, Foreigner’s “I Want To Know How Love Is”, and other well-known ballads. Between acts, Aiken told a few jokes that made the audience laugh. He and his backup singers even paid tribute to the Golden Age of Television with a medley of television theme songs.

Fans from all over California and all over the world came to see Aiken perform. Thirteen women from Japan flew out here just to see him, and then follow him all across the United States. “We love Clay,” said Mariko, one of the lucky 13. “He is very popular in Japan. We’re going to see him in North Carolina next.”

“He is hilarious, he is entertaining,” said Carrie Salensner from Los Angeles. “If people would come to one of his concerts, they will instantly love him.” Barbara White of San Diego agreed. “He is amazing, and a wonderful singer,” she says.

Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, Aiken began singing with the Raleigh Boychoir in his early teens. He studied at University of North Carolina in Charlotte, and while working part-time as a tutor for a boy with autism, he was encouraged to audition for American Idol.

Although he came in second place during the second season of Idol in 2003, Aiken was signed to RCA records and then released three albums, including “Measure of a Man”, “Merry Christmas With Love” and “A Thousand Different Ways”. Although most of his songs include covers, he has had a few original tunes that he had lyrically written.

Aiken was appointed to the Presidential Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities in September, 2006. He also is an ambassador of the Ronald McDonald House, and is also a dedicated advocate for education and for children's causes.

  3. Shoot - top of the page again. Dadgummit.

Is that a problem? Maybe, instead of like other boards that celebrate the first page, we should celebrate being at the top of every page! Hee.

Has anyone bought some cough syrup for Clayzor? She seems to have a frog in her throat. You know...."rivet, rivet."

*Thank you, thank you. I'll be here all week. Try the veal.*

As far as "mauling" Clay goes (and I'm writing this with my husband in the room, hee) -- some days I'm all about the mauling. Some days, though...I just want to hang out with him. It really depends on my mood, not to mention what he's doing at a particular moment.

There's also a photo gallery (located here). My favorite, by far, is this one. Such an imp!

    Finally, some pictures from mydesert.com

Keep posting the fan pictures please!!! And if anyone could capture Mr. Imp, I'd appreciate it. Take that any way you want to.

  5. eta... bwah! When I try to read Clay's lips in you avvy it looks like he says, "Maybe we should get coffee".

Which of course, can't be right, since the whole problem with coffee and such for Clay. You do know what he's saying, right? "But I appreciate the offer." (If I remember correctly, it has to do with someone further in the back of the hall offering him a chance to sit with them....)

Coffee. Offer. Not bad lip reading, actually.

Aww, Clay doesn't like one of my favorite books? But I gotta agree on the "Dickens crap"... LOL! He does have a way with words, no? Hee.

Aw man...Dickens was one of the few manadatory authors in high school that I actually liked -- a LOT. (But never, ever ask me about "Moby Dick," OK?) Never even touched "Siddartha," don't even really know what it's about. Bad librarian, right?

And no symbolism? What? Next he's gonna try to tell me he doesn't blog in code!! Hmpfh!

    :cryingwlaughter:

  6. For a while there, I thought I was post-hoing...and then I figured out it was because I just loved watching my avatar. Over.and.over.and.over. *g*

I'm just glad I was able to provide a few avatars. My photoshop skills are limited at best...but I do know how to crop. And thankfully, photobucket is so good at resizing stuff.

I'm loving all the new avatars I'm seeing around here. Even play got a new one!

stpteach, I hear ya about the "break in the action" (and getting into trouble, hee). It's nice to have a few days to catch my breath, watch the new clack, and just drink in Clay Aiken vicariously through clack. Clack -- the next best thing to being there.

  7. I have to admit when I see candid Clay pictures like that, I always wonder if I would recognize him if I saw him in unexpectedly in real life. Clay, you can feel free to stop by my local Krogers and buy your milk, 'cause I probably wouldn't notice you! :eusa_whistle:

I had the same thought....he looks just so regular guy in those pictures that I truly think I'd probably pass him right by. OK, so I'd probably think "he's cute," but no more than that.

    A prezzie for YSRN...

    rollercoasteravatar.jpg

  8. Different strokes for different folks then, I guess. I think he looks adorable in those pictures....but I'm at the point where I miss the bangs when they are not there. Of course, I also know that if he DID show up looking like that in concert...I'd still be swooning. I'm too easy.

I haven't been on a roller coaster in years...and I miss that. If I were riding a coaster with him....good God, I don't think I'd survive. It looks like so much fun in those pictures.

  9. I'm busy working this morning....meaning chatting with Ansa via gmail. (Gotta love that gmail....) She says hello to everyone here, and is missing the place terribly. At this point, she won't be online again until she gets back home Friday. She's had four wonderful concert experiences and is incredibly grateful that she got to do the busline in SD. She's also had a blast meeting all the FCA people!

    :F_05BL17blowkiss: Ansa!

ETA: Ansa reports that there's a rumor out there....one that's pretty cool IMO. Rumor has it that Tyra was in the audience in LA. EEEEEEE! I like that rumor....

  10. Question: when in the LA/Greek show was the banter with Clay snugging up to Angela and then saying to her family "surprise!"? Has a clip of that shown up yet? NEEEEEEEEEEEEED to see this.

I don't think it's been posted yet. It would be post TOA or pre-WTLGD.

Thanks for answering that. I hope that isn't some "lost clack."

Also, I haven't seen any videographers who took Aubrey dancing during TWYMMF. That's a toughie, Clay in the audience, people all standing, but I really hope somebody videotaped that kid dancing.

I'd really love to see that too...and I bet Angela would as well.

KAndre, I can't believe I was listening to you on the cellcert last night and you're at home and at work this morning!!

I'm dragging this morning, so I can't imagine what KAndre feels like!

Man, I've got stare at some of those pictures some more to wake me up.

  11. Certer saw the rivet tonight!!!!

The whole front section was for the high rollers, and they were a tough crowd...sitting the entire time.

The cello player handed Clay a CD case with "367 fast songs for orchestra" on it -- but no CD inside!

I think I need to get to bed though....can someone take over for the after concert?
