:nana: :14:Totally OFF topic, but just want to get it out of my system - I finally finished my 3rd quarter finals with 2 hours & 7 minutes to spare! -
Gibby!
Love the "it's not the years, it's the mileage" quote above. That one has been assimilated in my speech (the Borg!) as well as these:
"Tomorrow is another day" (Scarlett in Gone With the Wind *g*)
"I could have been a contender!" (Marlon Brando in On the Waterfront)
"I have always depended on the kindness of strangers" (Blanche in Streetcar Named Desire)
"Nobody's Perfect" (Some Like It Hot)

There you go far MORE information than you ever wanted to know and nothing concise. He is such a wonderful performer on stage that I'm sure if we did every concert he ever did, there would be something special about all of them. You just can't choose.
Sorry you asked????
My heart's in a pickle,
It's constantly fickle
And not too partickle, I fear.
When I'm not near the clack I love,
I love the clack I'm near.
(*apologies to Finian's Rainbow*)

<snip>I'll say it once, I'll say it a thousand times -- I have faith in Clay Aiken. His voice. His career choices. His humor. And he doesn't need me, as simply a fan, to make any of those decisions for him.

And .... I'll always have West Palm ..... *big sigh*
And, we'll always have Pala (SRHPT "WISYS" by Spot is Primo Clack too!)
(*likes the "We'll always have Paris" Rick and Ilsa motif from Casablanca*)

Quick drive-by post of number one selections:
Movie - "The Year of Living Dangerously" combines seduction, danger, turmoil, along with eerie, dis-jarring music. From Wikipedia:
The Year of Living Dangerously is a 1982 Peter Weir film adapted from the novel of the same name by its author Christopher Koch, Weir, and David Williamson. The story is about a love affair set in Indonesia during the overthrow of President Sukarno. It follows a group of foreign correspondents in Jakarta on the eve of an attempted coup by the so-called 30 September Movement on 30 September 1965 and during the beginning of the violent reprisals by military-led vigilante groups that killed hundreds of thousands. The film stars Mel Gibson as Guy Hamilton, an Australian journalist, Sigourney Weaver as Jill Bryant, a British Embassy officer. It also stars Linda Hunt as the male dwarf Billy Kwan, Gibson's local photographer contact, a role for which she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. The film was shot in both Australia and the Philippines and includes Australian actors Bill Kerr as Colonel Henderson and Noel Ferrier as Wally O'Sullivan.

tribeca, google is your friend, just google "the number" you were inquiring about and add "meaning" *everything you always wanted to know, but were afraid to ask*
And Scarlett, sanity is relative. Quirkiness is part of your charm. Food for thought:
You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it. - Robin Williams
There's a fine line between genius and insanity. I have erased this line. - Oscar Levant
Truly great madness cannot be achieved without significant intelligence. - Henrik Tikkanen
Part of being sane, is being a little bit crazy. - Janet Long

Actually, I'm thinking of naming him Gnocchi (nyō'kē, nyŏk'ē)... it's an Italian potato dumpling. Insomnia-inspired naming! I'm Italian, it's a "g" name even though the g is silent, and it has a bit of an Asian sound to the pronunciation, which is fitting since he's a Chinese Crested Powderpuff.
Oh, I like "Gnocchi" too. Very culinary! If you were Slavic, you could call him Pierogi! *g*
Smitten, it is better to have tried something and gained in experience than never to have tried at all. Life is learning what we are meant to do and not do.

Scarlett I sometimes wonder about your mind!!! :thbighug-1:
I do too, especially after something like this:
Labels? Where we're going, we don't need labels!!! (with apologies to the Back to the Future folks) Down with labels! Labels divide people. Make love not labels!Imagine... there's no labels... It's easy if you try
:lmaosmiley-1:
I just got a text message letting me know that my little guy is a sports fan...Well, to keep the "G" alliteration, you could call him "Guy", or if he's French "Gee" *g*.

Ok I think he looks like Andy Dick........there I said it!
I think he looks like John Lennon during the Yoko Ono "make love, not war" years.

<snip>! Gah! FrstlgrglooMmflsgoolce! scruffy Clay! Remember his description of himself in the 'Clarity in Cabo' blog? I think my response to that post was, 'can we pay him to not shower and shave'?
First, what language is "FrstlgrglooMmflsgoolce"? All I can make out of it is possible shorthand for "gurgles" and "goo" *g*
Second, "yes, you can" (*brazenly steals popular political phrase*). I'm sure a price can be negotiated at the next Gala for Clay to not shower and shave, just notify TBAF that you are ready to bid mucho dollaro for this.
Third, you can start a new board "Openly Scruffy Clay".
This can be your cyber-mascot, just change "butt" to "scruffiness". Or maybe "FrstlgrglooMmflsgoolce" is what it means anyway. *g*

I like the hot pink/turquoise/green motif. Very nice stash!
And a restaurant on Westheimer. Wowza! Nice place.

Still entertaining suggestions for names.Has anyone suggested Gonzo? *if you have that "G" thing for all the kiddies* *g*

Oh, and btw my room faces Bell St and because the only thing across us is a parking lot, I can see all the way to Clay Street every time I look out the window. *tiny squeee!*
What a job! :women23:
annabear, congrats on your upcoming puppy "mamahood"!

I don't know what's to come but hell at this time last year I didn't know about Spam, or babies or coming out or have a new album in my hand either.
(*said in best Forrest Gump voice*) Being a Clay fan is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get *g*

Can't wait for muski's fan fiction on that
That "someone" is you, too.The school has a great principal and they have a family counselor at the school so at this point someone is watching out for them. -
Clay we hardly knew ye
Hee!
It's like the story of the blind man and the elephant, from Wikipedia:
In various versions of the tale, a group of blind men (or men in the dark) touch an elephant to learn what it is like. Each one touches a different part, but only one part, such as the side or the tusk. They then compare notes on what they felt, and learn they are in complete disagreement. The story is used to indicate that reality may be viewed differently depending upon one's perspective, suggesting that what seems an absolute truth may be relative due to the deceptive nature of half-truths.Of course, Clay did title his blog "Killing the Elephants in the Room" *g*

Not a mod, but when I was growing up, Peggy Lipton was the height of "cool".So if you guys are the Mod Squad which one is Peggy Lipton?
*waves to Scarlett* Not quite clear. I love MacArthur Park. I have an amazing piano arrangement. It has a great interlude. For trivia buffs, here's a link to the meaning of the lyrics.*pushes the door open just an inch and looks carefully around FCA to see if all the songs from yesterday are still making the rounds yet again* Whew! All clear, well almost... -
jmh, so glad to read that your mom is OK after her fall. She's a very lucky 95 year old.
I'm having my U-verse installation that day:14:
As for musical influences, Clay certainly seemed to like Prince, or at least "When Doves Cry" (*wonder if he will recycle that on some future tour*)

Just reading along, but noticed two possible thread titles if we are taking nominations:
*I love quirky, obscure references*He was just a singer on a stupid reality show and would disappear like Kaiser Sose!
*that could be a thread title for the ages*What a joy it was to sit right there and watch "naked" Clay singing "naked" songsNever have been to Australia, but I love seeing pictures of the Sydney Opera House.

Hi Jazzgirl - you know I'm going to have have to listen to Mandy Patinkin. I just know him as an actor.
couchie, here's one of my favorites: Mandy Patinkin singing Sondheim's "Loving You" from Passion and "If I Loved You" from Carousel. I like to imagine Clay singing these.
The "This is the Moment" clack is great! Scarlett, you done good!

As much as I loved Spam & Sir Robin, I was thrilled to hear Clay singing again tonight. I honestly didn't even notice the piano. His voice is just pure magic.
*waves back at annabear* Hee! What piano? I didn't notice a piano either. Good luck on your paper!
Jazzgirl... where did you get that picture of those gorgeous tigers in your avi. I love tigers, oh my!Thank you! I just googled "tiger" images and lucked out with two gorgeous tigers. I like animal print clothing too (*when I'm an old lady, I will likely still be wearing my animal prints*).
For me, "This is the Moment" put a giant smile on my face. I would love a Broadway album (maybe I could retire my Mandy Patinkin one then *imagines Scarlett groaning at Mandy Patinkin and Clay in same sentence*). My Linda Eder Broadway album needs a companion.
#49: I am a fan of the man...pure and simple!
