I am determined if nothing else, when it comes to these tickets...but $1000.....geesh !!!! I'd have to sell my hubby or at least something of his...he,he. Out of my range, for sure !!! Fingers crossed...eyes too !!!!!!! :loveclaysbutt:

Haven't been able to find a way in for ages...anyone know what this screen is ?????

  3. How very strange and yet comforting , in some way, to realize that so many on this board are experiencing what I am with my Mom and my husband's Dad.

My Mom 84 has Macular degeneration and just recently has lost the majority of her sight..things we all took for granted, she now can no longer do. My husband's father 86 can no longer care for the home he has lived in for so long, due to illness, but refuses to accept the reality of it all. We are scrambling to pull it all together.

I don't believe anyone meant to make fun of anything related to caregiving. My Dad had Alziemer's for the last six years of his life, he did not know who we were. The day he was diagnosed was the beginning of our caregiving experience . It's not easy.......and the journey continues.

    desertrose, We're all in there/have been/will be
    .

Caregivers know, without a doubt, that this sentence is so very true, but I think if it had not been for the laughter at times WE would have gone over the edge. I think the first time we laughed at Alziemers was the day my Dad filled his pipe with butter. So I do believe it is important to be able to still laugh in the face of it all. My Mom, who now can't see my face, said at least now she won't have to pretend she doesn't notice the colour of my hair when I come from the hairdressers.....for some reason she found this very funny. I did too.....it felt good to laugh.

On a lighter but to me,still stressful note...I am really anxious about getting tickets for the Gala. Is it really going to be a bugger of a time or is everyone just trying to scare the bejeebers out of me? I've never tried for Gala tickets before. Is the name change going to affect getting on to the BAF site? Is it like getting tickets from ticketmaster where they give you a time limit to type in your info?...becuase I almost had a major infarct trying to do that with two fingers.Somebody boost my spirits here...I'm starting to hyperventilate and it's not even the end of July. :hello:

  4. I just finished watching the videos of John Barrowman's research. It was very interesting. Thanks for posting it for us.

I celebrated Canada day on the Halifax commons with my grandchildren and they had a blast. I ended up being a "space saver" in the lineups...but we had fun. So tonight I tuned in to watch some of the festivities for the 4th of July in the USA. I think the only part of it I didn't enjoy...and I'm probably going to get my head smacked...was Arethra Franklin's version of the American anthem. Way too over the top IMO It's a beautiful anthem that really doesn't require a cascade of trills...I don't understand why they do that.Oh well, it could just be me !!!!!! Sure would have loved to see Clay there....hmmmmm!!

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July !!!!!! :cocktail:

    OMG..I'M ON THE TOP OF THE PAGE......oh,oh !!!! :whistling-1:

  5. We all are taught things as children; by our parents, our teachers, our church...but then as we grow and experience life; it is natural that we start to question ideas and theology; examine our own feelings and reactions. To never question; to just accept is to become stagnent and closed off...we have these wonderful brains with which to feel and learn and educate ourselves...to me it is a disservice to not use them.

    This is awesome, Kim.

The thoughts I've been reading tonight in response to Beryl's post, are terrific. Lots of really intelligent, compassionate people at FCA.....with a lot of humour,a pinch of smut and a dash of snark. What a wonderful concoction !!!! :lilredani:

    :Iluvclaysbutt:

  6. I am a Christian who was taught love, acceptance and that we were ALL created in one image. That's how I have lived my life .I don't understand a faith that preaches intolerance. I do believe there will be a lot of......ah.... "Christians"....... answering some mighty hard questions on that final day.

Love your post, Preden. I think we have all learned a lot from Clay.Well said,Luckiest.

I can't wait to hear some news from Clay, about anything. I'm also holding my breath that I will be fast enough to grab two tickets to that Gala................Aug 11th is going to be one busy day at the BAF..... :cocktail:

  7. Because Clay isn't touring this summer, it seems that so many more people are interested in attending the Gala. I am nervous that there will be a rush for tickets. I do have our room booked but I wanted to make sure we were able to get tickets before booking a flight......now I don't know what to do. Geesh!!!!

Egads !!!!!! Is nothing easy when it comes to Clay ( and the BAF of course ) :drama: ...Thank heavens he's a hunk with a beautiful voice and a heart of gold......what to do????????????? :hangin:

  8. Any chance that Clay's gonna try the one ,two, three punch again??......... A book, CD and a short Christmas tour. Just thinking off the top off my head. First he says he heading back to the studio, then he's asking for info about the Christmas tour and now the gossip about a possible book.

It's a slow night, what can I say??

Hey Karen eh.....you're like a chipmunk, got stuff stored all over the place. :hysterical:

I'm looking foward to your visit home...hopefully it will have warmed up by then.(7 degrees this am...brrr)

  9. I'm lovin' the Cl-eye protection gear, Karen eh, I'm taking it for granted that you scraped the idea to market them, cos I sure don't have a pair. :cryingwlaughter: The second picture pretty much captures any moment at a Clay Aiken concert.....OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cocktail:

By the way,I have no aversion to looking for "Waldo"..it's all in fun :lipstick: ...keeps my imagination active and at my age that's a plus for sure.

I do hope he's having a good rest OR working his butt off...whichever is going to give us the quickest result.........what can I say, I obviously have become a part of the "I want it right now" generation......even I will admit that is a sad commentary.

    BUT..... :loveclaysbutt:

HEY......I'm not a dog walker anymore.....WOW !!!!! Sure hope I'm up to the task. :hubbahubba:

  10. We were out to supper tonight at a lovely little restaurant here in Halifax. They had pictures on the wall of influential people from across Canada.

The one that caught my eye was a picture of a lady called Nellie McClung(1873-1951).She was a pioneer teacher, author, suffragist, social reformer, lecturer and legislator. They said when ever they need a good quote, Nellie always came through. Ain't Google amazing !!! :lipstick:

This quote of Nellie's was written under the picture and I immediately thought of Clay and all the hullabaloo over his blog/apology.

"Never retract, never explain, never apologize, get the thing done and let them howl."

She was one smart lady lady , I think.

I went to supper, learned some history and got a good quote in the mix.....not bad for a night out !!! :cryingwlaughter:

I watched the Susan Boyle clip and she does have a wonderful voice. I think probably she was more nervous this time, probably due to all the scrutiny lately. I mean, last time all she had to do was sing. This time she had to look good and sing. I thought she was fine as she was.....but that's entertainment for ya. I hope she does well in the finals. When are they??????

  11. Thanks for the "CORRECT" information........I couldn't find the numbers in my files. How you get organized enough to find info like that in a minute is beyond me......but I'm sure glad you can. I'm impressed !!!!!

Results are in for AI.....I'll keep it to myself as some of you might still be watching. Let's just say ......I'm happy. :cocktail: I cheated and checked in for the last 15 minutes......2 hours is too much...IMO

    :Iluvclaysbutt:

  12. Millions of people tuned in to watch Studdard take on Clay Aiken in the finale of the competition. In fact, only the season five closer (won by Taylor Hicks) has drawn more viewers than the 34.2 million who saw Studdard crowned "American Idol."

I didn't realize that AI5 beat AI2 in finale viewers. I would have had that trivia question wrong.....dang it.

I don't think I can handle two hours of this show tonight.....last 5 minutes should do the trick. Now, if Clay were on......3 hours wouldn't be enough. :cryingwlaughter:
