  1. Lucky...thanks for posting those recaps and reactions....I have been busy with Christmas stuff...yesterday was first shopping spree. Pretty late for me but I got all the minor gifts out of the way. Now its time to put up the tree...do xmas cooking, I make traditional meat pies, and baking, then the big xmas items for the girls.

I do love this time of the year even if it can be very tiring.

That last m&g report...it goes without saying I think. I lot of us know that it would bother Clay to have his mistakes up...a lot of us knew that it probably isn't good to have the skating show on you tube cos its not his show. But for some reason some of us still do it. I was not too worried about the skating stuff because the skating portions were never shown...so for those wanting to see the show for the skating, it seem more like a sneak peak. But...as the artist in these videos, I'm sure it is awkward for him to have his fans violate NBC's rights in this instance. So I guess we learn from this and try not to do so again.

This makes it interesting about spamalot clack. There are spamalot videos on you tube, but the focus is really on the whole cast, the whole show...not one artist can be blamed for this. So when Clay is there and I am almost positive there will be clack...I do hope people remember that Clay is only one cast member and it may not be in the shows best interest to flood you tube with clack...I wonder if he will make a clear statement on this.

    THANKFUL!!!!

    porn name....Jordan Whitefield...

AHHHHH fruitcake...now this cake does not have such a bad reputation in the Philippines when I was growing up. My brothers and I started a fruitcake business when I was in high school. When my parents had early retirement...they took over the business. At its peak they were making 500 fruitcakes.

Our fruitcake recipe is sooo good. Its one of those that has to be aged and has rum and all that. Our secret...we don't overload it with nuts and fruits...there is still a lot of good cake in there. My mom every year tries to stop cos she is almost 80 but her regular customers just keep asking her to make some more. I think now she just makes a few dozen to give as gifts or to supply our most loyal customers.

That is a whole production too...cos the baking starts around October... then there is the packing stage...my mom makes beautiful ribbons and packaging. For the longest time, Christmas and the smell of Fruitcake baking goes hand in hand.

No we don;t use a tub hee.

  4. I think that probably the story idea was ever-evolving as Clay got into it, saw what people submitted and put the rest of the show together. It would have been helpful to know from the beginning just what it was he wanted. However, I think he did not really know at the beginning. Also, just to be clear, I am not upset about not being chosen for DC because I did not submit a story for that venue. It just seems to me that there are some who would be upset by one story being read multiple times. It may be that Clay simply ran out of time and went with a story that is very compelling when he didn't have another that seemed as "right" for that particular place in the show. Maybe other stories could have been tweaked had time not been a factor.

I have submitted a story for Williamsport, but I would be shocked if asked to read it. Having heard the other stories, I don't think it "fits" and would probably not segue into the particular songs he has chosen to follow the stories. I wrote my memory without considering what song it might fit. It came from my heart, not a desire to get on stage or even meet Clay (although I'd really like to meet him someday). If he read it, then for those few moments he saw a little part of me.

Your final paragraph is probably the very reason why he didn;t tell people that he was fitting it for certain songs or certain themes. I think he wanted people to share their story from the heart. In a way...I do believe just the very fact that he got a lot of us looking back into our memories is a lovsely gift to the whole fandom. I know I ended up remembering the Christmas tradition we had as a family and highlighted 2 really great memories. He knows he cannot choose everyone, but I don't think the exercise was useless...for one thing...I loved the way it made people share and get to know each other better.

  5. (((CG))) (((diva))) and anybody else that needs it.

so much WORD to couchie...I am not sure if Clay is personalizing these stories or if he is acting like a producer or director that is looking for a theme or a storyline that fits his songs.

I also think that every venue will differ depending on the stories submitted.

Diva I thank you for sharing your story with us. I'm sure Clay appreciated it too. I also think its very human to be disappointed but you know without taking the risk and putting ourselves out there...we can never reap the reward. I wish I did submit my story...I doubt it would be chosen but to just know I shared a memory with Clay would be great. But I didn't do anything so I just watch the excitement from the sideline.

Everyone reacts differently to sad stories. I know the story with the son in the accident had me in tears. Some people hate that..very understandable, I thought it was cathartic. But once again...Couchie said it for me...when the pain is so immediate, sometimes its hard to be philosophical...

    eta: gosh...I should've just waited for jenna's post...hee

  6. AAAARGH....I was called to school this morning and I was just goign to pack up the laptop when I see the secret is out but you have to hunt down for it....I HATE THAT. I generally have no problem when someon says they have a secret they can't tell. I just respect that. BUT when the "secret" is revealed and coyly deleted and you have to pm people....gah hate that cos now I want to know and I ahve no time to hunt it down.

    sigh.

I don;t think this is a real secret to Clay...I am sure he knows enough not to tell the fans really sensitive info. BUT I do beleive he likes to do this to give a sense of intimacy in the m&G and probably a bit of a game to see how fast the secret goes around.

    Sigh.

Glad the concert goers had fun...

    Sheiladownunder!!!!

Laughn...I loved your minni recap...same with cindi and luckiest, quickie...

but I really got schmoopie with smittens recap that was quoted in the Kalamazoo thread...she was the one who read the Christmas thong story...her reaction to being able to read her story...to having the audience react to her...was just soo precious. What a gift this opportunity is for all the ladies that get to read. And not only to those ladies...but I have to say I haven't heard a dull story yet. The writing and the delivery has been spot on.

  9. BWAH!!! Luckiest...that was a quickie???

its as wonderful as usual...its a good thing kalamazoo is your night...

OMG I got sooo schmoopie reading smitten;s recap...what a wonderful gift Clay is giving to these women...to be able to share their stories this way. They were really well written. This was so simple and funny...and I loved the way she read it...so natural ...

BRAVO to the readers and Clay for such a wonderful concept.
