  1. oh should we do a wake and funeral services...you know for the dead ATDW???

I mean why are poddies so determined to kill this cd? Don;t they want Clay to have more money...don;t they want to hope for another single on radio? Do they really want to be so right that they don;t want anything good to come out of this CD???

Hee. I bet if you put that question to them, they'd deny it and say they'd be thrilled if it suddenly came to life. But you'd never know it, they way they go on and on about the CD being dead....almost as though they're willing it to be so.

My conclusion about all this..its never been about Clay...for the poddies its about what they want...what they want him to sing ...how they want him to be a rocker...how they want to be right even if it means less sale for Clay....

Sadly, I have to conclude the same thing. They claim that they don't want him to be stuck in the "karaoke singer" box, while at the same time firmly shoving him in the "songwriter & rocker" box.

I think we need a "let Clay be Clay" emoticon. :fca:

  2. I am sure Houston will be the first concert. I have it all figured out. Clay likes being with him family on July 4th because that is the anniversary of Ray Parker's death. Right? And he likes being in the city where a concert is being held the night before. Right? So...... Unless he starts the tour before July 4th - which I doubt - Houston must be the first concert!

I think you may be right. I also wonder if the July 8 - 16 gap might be Unicef related. There are still lots of other dates where he could fit 6 more concerts in.

    :Tour3: :Tour3: :Tour3:

  3. I'm so happy for everyone who is going to Texas! :Tour3: :TourExcite: And thanks to cindilu2, ABeautifulMind and claystruck for these fantastic emoticons!

I'm still waiting until the full schedule is announced before making any more plans. I already have 5 concerts on my agenda, LOL. Hee, my record is 7 (the NaT) - think I can break it this year? Plus, I really think I might fly out for the skating show in Vegas. So I have to take that into consideration as well.

Hope we get more dates today!

  4. I haven't heard the song, but I saw a clip from Grease on the news.......I guess he's passable, but don't even get me started on hanging up his skates in favour of singing. Makes me wanna do this :badpc: but not to my PC.

I would love it to be Kurt's show too but he's not going to tape that in Vegas........

ETA: They tape one show in each city to be aired at a later date. So one Holiday on Ice, one Haloween on Ice, etc.

  5. Here is the email that Constantines Girl at the Clayboard received. It doesn't specify which skating event this is, just the date and venue that it will be TENTATIVELY be taped:

TO CLARIFY for those who are questioning it. Here is my orginal EMAIL TO THEM and FROM THEM.

Any idea where the event with Clay Aiken will be? We would like to attend.

    Thanks,

    Carol

    HERE IS THE RESPONSE

It's tentatively scheduled for November 3rd at Lake Las Vegas in Las Vegas, NV

  6. this may be sacrilege for a Clay fan to say.. but I actually don;t want to see him skating and singing in these shows. Better for him to do what he does best and for these fantastic pros to do what they do best.

I have to agree with ansa here. As much as I loved Skating!Clay! at the RBC Centre (I can't tell you how many times I've rewatched that clack) this is a much different scenario. These types of skating shows tend to be quite classy, and the tickets tend to be quite expensive (which is why I've only ever attended one, when I usually attend most skating shows that are in the Toronto to London area). This goes right along with the more "classy" image they seem to be going for with Clay, IMO, with these orchestra shows.

I think I have seen certain staging where the singer is in the middle of a rink in sort of stage and the skater interacts with them by skating on to the stage. Now other skating fans can correct me but did Kurt do something like this with his wife...who I think is a dancer???or am I thinking of someone else or just dreaming again, where she dances on this stage and he would skate to her and carry her around the ice?

Yes, I remember this too, with Kurt's wife, who is a famous ballerina. But normally, the singer sings on the stage, which is at one end of the ice surface, and the skater skates. Unfortunately for the televised audience, the camera tends to be on the skater more than the singer, since it's the skaters visuals that are complementing the singer's singing. I have always fantasized that Clay would sing while Jeff Buttle (Canadian champ) skated. I can't wait to find out what the pairing will be. I would love to be able to attend this in person. I'll keep my ear to the ground in skating circles and see if I hear anything about tickets.

NBC & Disson Skating Extend Contract Through 2011

    Thu, 22nd, Mar 2007

Disson Skating, a producer of televised ice skating shows in the United States and Canada, today extended its network contract with NBC-TV for an additional four years (through 2011).

Disson Skating, which operates in a partnership with Philadelphia-based sports and entertainment firm Comcast-Spectacor, annually produces 10 ice skating extravaganzas, which uniquely incorporate a live musical concert into the shows....

    <snip>

American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken, vocalist Sarah Brightman, country music sensation Wynonna Judd and classical pianist Lang Lang have already confirmed their participation in upcoming Disson Skating shows in 2007-08. The company is in negotiations for additional acts to be confirmed shortly....

Disson Skating has already scheduled its 10 shows for the 2007-08 ice skating season, beginning on Saturday, October 27 at 4 p.m. with the Skating & Gymnastics Spectacular. Other shows will air on Sunday, November 11 at 4 p.m. with Kurt Browning's Gotta Skate; Sunday, November 25 at 4 p.m. with Kristi Yamaguchi's Friends & Family; Saturday, December 22 at 4 p.m. with Country On Ice; Sunday, December 23 at 4 p.m. with Wynonna Tribune on Ice.; Tuesday, December 25 at 2:30 p.m. with Holiday Celebration on Ice; Tuesday, January 1 at 3 p.m. with Brian Boitano's Skating Spectacular; Sunday, January 6 at 4 p.m. with Latin on Ice; Sunday, January 13 at 4 p.m . with Skate for the Heart; and Sunday, January 20 at 4 p.m. with Fashion On Ice.

EEEEEEEEEEEEE! Fandoms collide! I know that Kurt's show always tapes in Ontario.....usually Toronto or Hamilton. I wonder which show Clay will be on? I wonder who'll skate to his song?

I keep hearing this little ditty in my head: "I can see clearly now, the pod has lifted."

:cryingwlaughter: I will never hear that song the same way again........

  8. I'm sure Clay is busy writing his comedy Xmas extravaganza as we speak.

hey you mean its a combination of comedy skits...and orchestral music???Maybe its a childrens; story this time...with magical trees and elves and such...hee maybe this is the exciting project he is talking about...

wouldn't it be funny if he was recording for a a christmas album instead of a rocking cd of originals?

Hee, funny thing is, I often think that Clay's definition of "exciting" and many of the fans' definitions of "exciting" are far and apart. :medium-smiley-070:

I'd love a new Christmas CD this year! Actually, to me it makes a whole lot more sense, since the one he has is 3 years old (well, not counting AIW, maybe he could incorporate those songs into it since most of the public has never heard them). Plus the fact that he obviously enjoys Christmas and intends on having an annual Christmas tour. I'm really not expecting a new pop CD (or whatever genre he chooses) until at least late 2008 or into 2009. He's already got one of those and I love it! *smacks self for such an outrageous statement about ATDW* ;)

  9. It's in the Event Information from the TBAF site. I would expect discretion is the key here, as always...

I guess I should learn to scroll right down to the very bottom.........since I read that pdf yesterday. OK then, discretion it will have to be!

Hey, with a name like Clay Aiken's Magical Holiday, I'm not putting anything past him. Just because he hasn't done funny yet........remember the Hometown Connection Santa Clay?

  10. I think it fantastic that venues are so excited that he's coming back that they are spilling the beans this early. I get the feeling this place is over-the-moon that he may be doing a show there. (I thought I'd better add that "may" there -- things can change an awful lot in a few months, especially when planning a tour.)

Yes, I love hearing about different venues that are trying to book him on either this or the next leg of the tour. Sounds like boyfriend is a pretty hot commodity!

Fingers crossed for some Gala video, although it's supposed to be camera-free. HA!

Eeep! It is? Where did you hear that? ::bites nails::

  11. Ah, Clay, you can throw as many tours at me as you want.......and I'll still be waiting for more. :allgood:

Seriously, I'm thrilled about the Christmas tour! It answers the questions about what the "second leg" meant. I love that he's named it, and it's something different than "Joyful Noise" (just because I think it means he's coming up with fresh ideas and exploring).....I love that it's with orchestras again......I can't wait to find out what he's singing. I'd love to hear him cover John Lennon's "Happy Christmas, War Is Over (If You Want It)". I'd love to hear him do a live version of "Little Drummer Boy/Peace On Earth". I'd love him to cover any of the Elvis Christmas songs.....that CD has always been a favourite in our household each year. Plus, there are so many great Stephen Curtis Chapman Christmas songs.....I bought his last Christmas CD thinking Clay might cover the title track.

Oh yeah, we don't know that about the summer tour yet. Hee. :medium-smiley-070:

    My siggie is also my license plate. C L Z M Y L V S = Clay's my Elvis.

Oooh, pix in the bedroom? Well, since I've got no one to stop me.....I've got the framed Rolling Stone cover, and a big poster of the Library Boy pic......I've got the two 8x10's from the OFC framed.....I've got a large stand that displays 5 magazine covers from 2003/2004.....and I've got the poster from the IT behind the door. OH, I've also got a nice, big laminated black and white poster of two screencaps from AI5, courtesy of cindilu2. And a laminated Singapore MOAM bus poster. My son says it looks like a teenager's room. Well, I consider it my second childhood, and I'm loving it!

  12. Hee, pod mod. It's sad that they exist, but it's true.

    alien31.gif

OMG I love this little guy. Can we add him to the board emoticons? Pleeeeeeaaaaaaase???????

I have to say that I, too, almost just said to hell with Clay Aiken and walked away. These Pod People have done so much damage to the moral of his fan base and to his career in general, that it makes me weep every time I come on his OFC.

While ITA with you, I draw a distinction between almost walking away from the online fandom, and walking away from being a fan of Clay Aiken in general. The former I have contemplated. The latter, I will never do. It's possible to be a fan of Clay without being online. I know lots of people who are. They rely on me to tell them about tours, concerts, anything exciting that's coming up. They are quite happy that way, and I can't say as I blame them. :P Some days the negativity just gets too much. It's great to have a group of friends to email with, and of course, this board is a haven. I have only recently gone back to the OFC after quite a few months away. I think it's unfortunate that everything over there is so black and white, and whole threads are allowed to be sabotaged.

I guess my question is this. Why can't they be banned, everywhere? Why give them a platform to continue? We all know the participants screen names by now. Refuse admittance to them.

To me, the problem with that is that it gets into the shady area of fans policing fans. Who draws the lines? I think eventually the worst offenders will drive themselves out, either by getting themselves banned from boards by breaking the rules, or giving up and moving on when they realize that none of what they have predicted is coming true. I think the thing that bothers me the most is that some "fans" seem to want Clay to be someone who he is obviously not. But there are many other performers out there who probably do fit the bill. Why not be their fan instead? Wouldn't it be more satisfying? I'll never understand it. I've become disenchanted with artists or celebrities or whoever I used to follow closely, because their direction or their career choices weren't my cup of tea. I moved on, and found something else to do. Somehow, Clay fans seem incapable of doing that.

  13. For the record, I just wanted to be able to enjoy ATDW (and Clay) without being looked at sideways. If Clay sings no songs from this album I will be disappointed because I love it. But here's the thing... even if Clay is about to sing a whole album of rocking new songs with a 42 peice orchestra I will jam and dance up a storm and still walk out of there loving ATDW.

    I love this attitude. :F_05BL17blowkiss:

playbiller, it depends what specific part of their theory you are trying to debunk. It changes to suit their purpose. Sometimes it's that he doesn't need to record anything new, because he already has the thing sitting on the shelf (because evil Clive hated it). Other times it's brand spanking new and is being recorded RIGHT NOW! It makes my head spin.

I just feel so out of step with the majority of the fandom right now. Where I want to celebrate and plan and fantasize about how great it will be to hear Clay singing love songs to meeeeeeeeee under the starry skies this summer, the majority are angsting over ticket sales and hypothetical "new" albums and whether the symphony will take up all the time or the band will get a separate set, or getting excited over intrusive paparazzi videos and skeevy made-up "scandals".

  14. Can someone please tell me what you are referring to when you say POD person or Poddie?

Hee, I hope you're not one too, else you might get eaten alive over here. :lol:couchie, we really gotta get that FAQ in order..........

I'll be right back as soon as I find the link to someone's explanation, because you are not the first to ask this question, and probably won't be the last.

Aaaaaaaaand ldyjocelyn was quicker than me. :medium-smiley-070:

ETA: Standing O for djs. Brilliant! :laugh2::cryingwlaughter::hahaha:

  15. COME OOOONNNN - it is running with scissors!

Heh, shouldn't it be running with a razor? But either one is dangerous. ;)

I have never been to a first concert, and I'm dying to do it. I want to be unspoiled, and I want to feel the excitement, in person, instead of over a cellcert. I was hoping to do it for this tour. Right now I'm not sure if it's going to happen or not. I also love the last concerts of a tour, but I also find them very bittersweet. I was at the final NaT in Raleigh, and I cried the whole way through Invisible.

I'm on the Aiken diet! (ok, down muski, not that kind). I started 3 weeks ago, on the advice of my doctor, but it really worked out well, timing wise. I have lost 10 pounds and one size, just in time to go out and buy myself a new outfit for the BAF gala. Woo hoo! I love spring, so on days when the sun is shining and the weather is above freezing, I have been going for walks on my lunch break, with my iPod. As much as I abhor exercise, I don't mind that kind!

  16. This is fantastic....so great to see the lurkers coming out of the woodwork! :F_05BL17blowkiss:

So far, I'm 99% sure that I'll be going to Rochester, Chatauqua and Columbus. I've never done a 3fer before, and it sounds like a lot of fun! Windtalker, there is a very informative thread over at the OFC about the Columbus venue, in the Tour Talk section. One of the OFC members seems to have some sort of an in, and is bringing all sorts of stuff over. Apparently they are very accomodating, there are sections set aside for those people in wheelchairs, you can purchase reserved tables (no idea where they are), and groups of 20 or more are able to reserve a spot on the lawn as well. Unfortunately, they don't start taking any sort of reservations until at least late April or early May, but I think it would be a good idea if one of us could grab a spot for 20. I don't think it would be too difficult to fill it up.

I'm also hoping to be at both NC shows, if everything works out. I'm waiting to see where the other 7 venues that have no yet been announced end up to be, and of course I'm hoping for Toronto, but even so, I hope to still get to NC. Apparently the Biltmore in Asheville only holds about 2,000, so that might be a battle for tickets. On the other hand, the Koka Booth in Cary has a large lawn, so no worries there.

Is it July yet? Oh wait, I have to go to the Gala first. Wheeeeeeeee! :medium-smiley-070:

  17. Another short person checking in - 5 foot 1 inch. Maybe I'm just used to having to look between heads....but I haven't really had any extreme problems with tall people. Or maybe the Aiken fog just made me forget them.

There no way I'm getting to California for this tour, so if that's where the FCA get together ends up being.....I'll miss ya! But I hope y'all have a great time. :allgood: So far it's just NY-OH 3fer and NC for me.

  18. I can't even imagine walking out of a Clay Aiken concert disgruntled.........makes no sense to me! A Clay Aiken concert is 2 hours of pure joy.

Welcome pkmiller. The more the merrier!

Has anyone else caught the paparazzi video that has been vaulted? Is anyone else as squicked out as me? It just seems so intrusive. I don't know how Clay does it, I sure wouldn't be able to, in his shoes.

Well I'm now booked into 3 hotels, all with free cancellation up to the last day policies. I've got one general admission ticket and my name is on a list for a group sale for another venue. Where last week I was getting very itchy for the rest of the tour dates and public sale dates, right now I'm feeling quite zen. No rush, Clay. ;)
