  1. Luckiest...since it's for BAF, I bet on WISYS, TOA and then maybe ATD or HYCA...

Oooooh, I could deal with that. I'm also really anxious to hear him sing BYLM, that might be good at BAF. And of course, I can't WAIT for IYDKMBN live in concert!

Hee, I went and saw Music & Lyrics tonight. It was kind of lame, but also hysterically funny in spots. Some of the lyrics to the song Hugh Grant's character wrote were seriously baaaaad, and made me laugh out loud, embarrassing my daughter. ;)

  2. I can't wait to hear all the ATDW songs sung live. Yesterday I was trying to pick which 3 songs I want him to sing at the BAF gala (assuming he sings 3 songs....just a guess on my part). I think I decided on RHW (because that's my favourite, I freaking love it, I am DYING to see him sing it live, and I am addicted to the David Foster Gala clack of it, when he does that little shoulder thing to the violins....wheeeeeeee, I'll shut up about it now), LAA (OMG can you imagine if he played it on the keyboard while singing?????), and HYCA (because it's going to kill me when he hits the low GO). But if I had to guess what he'll sing, it'll probably be WY, ATD, and....who knows? Invisible? Hey, those 3 will make me very happy, too. I'm soooooooo easy. :hubbahubba:

Now, if we were talking about a live concert, instead of the BAF gala where I assume it will be a small, intimate room with everyone sitting around tables, the 3 I'd be looking most forward to would be RHW (of course, hee, all the reasons stated above), LNM (please God let him wail those background vocals at the end) and Broken Wings (I can't wait to see what he does with this one live).

    Is it Summer '07 yet?

  3. We have to disassociate him from an album so he isn't in anyway responsible for it. But of course it's HIS VOICE. No one else but us will put that album on anyone else. I think what I hate most is that the fans have put it out there that Clay doesn't care about his work. They've written that on Amazon reviews and they've written that in defense of his sales. And even if Clay felt the exact same way he would not do that. I hope they are proud.

Yeah, me too. Pisses me off to no end. I posted about how much I love the album yesterday, on another board. It's sad, to me, when a post like that stands out like a sore thumb, on a freaking FAN board. I don't expect that everyone is going to love everything about it, but my good God, you'd think there'd be a majority that at least like it. I just don't understand all this "ATDW is dead, let's move on to the next great thing" mentality. What next thing? ATDW is NOW, let's celebrate what we currently have. It's only dead in the minds of the people who have bought into a bunch of shit-assed, friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of an insider speculation. Clay has never once said a bad word about it. In fact, he's done just the opposite. Unless, of course, you can "read" what he's saying when he doesn't speak. Which some people apparently think they can. :pod:

When something new arises, I'll celebrate that too. But right now, I'll celebrate ATDW and AIW.

I am sooooooooooooooo in the "hope there's an ATDW 2007 summer tour" camp. Bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll be in the mosh pit.

  4. I hope this comes across in the right way, but some of the objections I saw to YWT reminded of my ex, who was absolutely convinced that any problems he had were due to the "man" (and of course the "man" was white) keeping him down. That the "man" did nothing without considering how it affected my ex. And how he got pissed off when I commented that frankly the "man" probably wasn't even thinking about him. It may be horrible, but I just don't think Clay thought much beyond he liked the song and he could sing the shiznit out of it. Or maybe that's just me.

Hee, thanks for the laugh. And no, it's not just you. :)

  5. Yeah, muski, I also thought he was harmonizing on the high part. SCC's voice is lower than Clay's. Hee, maybe some are getting Jody McBrayer and SCC confused? ;)

I'm probably the last person some would think that would enjoy CCM, but I do. I own a few of SCC's albums, and Avalon and Jody as well. I am of the opinion that some of the songs that were in the original mix for ATDW were probably CCM themed, but with lyrics that were vague enough to be interpreted in different ways. Heck, we heard that SCC might have written a song that wasn't included. We also heard from different songwriters whose songs were apparently up for consideration, and the majority of them were CCM songwriters. I doubt that Clay will release a strictly CCM album anytime soon, but I do think he will continue to include CCM cover songs in his concerts, and will probably gravitate towards CCM songwriters again, next time he records, if for no other reason that the fact that their lyrics are typically cleaner. I feel bad for fans who don't like his CCM leanings, but on the other hand, Clay's always been pretty up front about who he is religiously.

I'm just gonna copy my post over from CH - my feelings about his appearance last night with SCC:

Clay has mentioned quite often in interviews how much he likes SCC's music and songwriting, and of course, he's covered a few of his songs. *g* I would go so far as to think (only my opinion, obviously) that Clay probably considers him one of his musical idols. I bet he must have been tha-rilled to be up on the stage with him. Didn't we hear that there might have been a song written by SCC for Clay when he first started working on what eventually became ATDW? Anyways, I am as happy as a pig in shit (hee, not very CCM sounding, I know) that Clay got to sing with his idol. I FLOVE The Great Adventure, and always have....love to blast it in the car and sing along at the top of my lungs. Thanks to everyone who scoped out, uploaded, or hosted the clack so far! I hope we get a clearer mp3 of this. And more video.

So who had Clay sings CCM on their list of things to make heads eplode. I can't wait to see this clack...And I really want to hear Clay sing The Blood just once before I die. I sang that song a million times in the church choir growing up and I want to hear "grown up" Cay sing it.

OMG couchie, I want to hear it too. I never heard the song before Clay sang it, and I know I'm in the minority with this one, but I FLOVE it. When my mom was in for her second surgery, I spent some time wandering around the hospital, to let her rest. I wound up, one day, in this beautiful chapel, with stained glass windows, and of course my iPod was playing (I am never without it). I sat down for a few minutes, and what, out of the 1000 songs, came up on random play? Yep, The Blood. No freaking coincidence.

  6. Awwwww, thanks everyone! I'm having a great day. I went grocery shopping, and thought I was just hearing Clay sing in my head (doesn't everyone?) but it was actually Without You coming out of the speakers in the store. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Was probably satellite, but heh, I'll take it where I can get it.

Then, I came home and got word that my daughter's tickets for the BAF gala were finally confirmed.

Now, we are getting ready to go out for dinner with friends and family. It was great to come here and see all the messages with my name bolded. :F_05BL17blowkiss:

  7. If it makes him feel better about himself, then I'm for it. Oooh...weird deja vu moment. That's what HE said once in response to an interview question about plastic surgery. They asked him if he was in favor of people (maybe even 'women') getting cosmetic surgery...and his answer was pretty much what I just said---if it makes the person feel better about herself, go for it!

This is awesome, I can't believe that you are the first one I've seen mention it! I do think he did it because either a.) it was something he needed, for whatever dental-type reason (hee, can you tell I know nothing about dentistry?) or b.) something that has always bothered him and he wanted to fix.

    Did you know that typing b + ) makes B) ?

bottlecap, thanks for that side-by-side view. I think his new teeth look great!

luckiest, I saw your post about our meeting at the Interlochen pre-party. I'm really sorry about not remembering that. My only excuse is that Interlochen was the first time I ever came within 3 feet of that guy so my mind turned to oatmeal. Hoping to see you again at the next tour!

Hey, no worries, I didn't expect you to remember. Looking forward to meeting you again next tour, too!

"Shorter Hair, Longer Teeth- You're a Tigerrrrr!"

    "He's a sweet-talkin', sugar-coated candyman."

I know I previously said I didn't want anything about the teeth, but I kinda like both of these. :)

I was getting the shakes becoss I didn't have this forum bookmarked at home. I had to search it on Google! Heh, bookmarked now, in case the main board ever goes down again.

  8. I think my favourite part of the whole "Candy Song" skit (after *mumblemumble* viewings) is when he plunks himself back down in the chair after it's done, right before they cut to commercial, and pops a candy in his mouth. The look on his face and his body language just says "heh, I pulled that one off, didn't I?" to me. This is probably going to become one of my most zaprudered pieces of clack ever. *g*

Thread title? I vote for not mentioning anything to do with the teeth. Seriously, I've never seen anything so blown out of proportion in my life..........and I'm not talking about this board.

  9. Heh. Clay finally gets a starring role in a movie. It's a remake of the Partridge family. Clay is David/Keith, Faye is Shirley Jones, Brett is Danny Bonaduce, Kristy is Susan Day. Clive is Kincaid, the manager. Ethel is a friendly neighbour. Jennifer plays a love interest.

Dear Poddie, no one is saying you are not a true fan of Clay. We know you love him. I just plan to enjoy my fandom, not see Clive and RCA hiding under every unturned rock. When and if Clay makes his move I will be there to celebrate along with you. But I don't plan to turn my life over to conspiracy theories and anger and bitterness. Clay is a strong man, capable of handling his life and career. If there are snakes in his midst, he knows it. If that is too angelwingy for you, hey, too bad.

WORD. And honestly, what did they expect us to do but find a pod-free board to vent on? They effectively forced many, many non-poddies out of the main boards by continually refusing to even acknowledge the idea that there might be some other reasonable explanation for things that have happened other than their convoluted conspiracy theories.

    No, I'm not bitter.

    :pod:

  10. There are other places without pod people, this is not the only refuge, really. It is just that most people don't go to those boards. Then there are the home boards of the Pods, now those are scarey places where they plot geting rid of mods by tricking other posters into following their leads or where they out the enemies of true fans (pods)

Can you provide some links? Because I think I need to find some new places to surf. Thanks!

  11. And its clear Clay hates Clive but he's not allowed to say anything against him. In fact, since Clive has approval over the liner notes, even those words - which clearly were not sincere - were forced on him by Clive. He cannot have an independent thought without label approval. Even when he said in his blog that the label does not tell him what to say he was actually told to say that by the label (I am sure to throw people off the trail of the truth).

BWAH! Thank you, I really needed to read that this morning. :pod:

  12. Hmmmmmmmmm, Who/Where/What are the POD people??

I still have so much to learn...

Hee, couchie, haven't you put that explanation in the FAQ yet? :medium-smiley-070:

I tried to search for it but because both FAQ and POD are 3 letter words, it won't let me. I can answer your "Where" question, though. They're freaking everywhere. Except here. :pod: :F_05BL17blowkiss:

  13. :pod: :fca:

Oh, thank God, a haven of sanity. I thought I was losing my mind earlier today, perusing some other boards. The doom and gloom over absolutely.freaking.nothing is astounding. Clay has not gone into hiding, we have appearances on the calendar, and yet people are moaning and groaning as though it's the end of the world. It makes me crazy.

My version of reality, CLay is fine, he is not the big buzz he was a few years ago and he is trying to live life on his terms, but he has these fans that want to define him and pidgeon hole him more than any label. Everything must be godl, they must have their bragging rights, just loving Clay is not enough, he must be the bestest.

And a number of you have said in one way or the other what I truly believe---that Clay meant what he said when he indicated he was taking his life back. At the time most people thought that was a great idea and said, "Yeay, Clay! You titanium-balled hunka man, you!" Thing is, though---what his taking charge of his life LOOKS LIKE--that is, NOT going to pahtehs, being a rock stah, getting the majority of RCA's promotion budget, etc.---doesn't fit THEIR plans for him.

WORD WORD WORD to you both! :allgood:

  14. The only thing I hate with a fiery and unending hate is any 'so-called' humor with Clay as the only person spouting badly written dialect. It is not funny. It is not charming. It is snide and condescending and lazy - if you're going to write dialect, write it for everyone in the damn skit - there is no one in this country who speaks without a regional dialect. Humph. And if you can't get the humor across without it, it wasn't funny to begin with.

ITA. And I think I know to which skit(s) you are referring. ;)

  15. Add me to the bad fans that want the song to succeed just to shut angsters up, although I do like it and sing along. I swear, I think the fans are worse than the haters a lot of the time - oh wait, there is a great overlap here, is there not?

Heh, there surely is. And me too! I want that little song to continue it's slow and steady rise. Last figures I saw were 97 spins for the 7 day period. Do I hear 100? Come on, 100! :)

I was at Dayton, although I didn't know ldyjocelyn yet. I was in the cheap seats, too, near a jumbotron, and I agree that ISY was lethal! I just had to watch the clack this morning before work. And while that may be your finest moment, it isn't your only moment. I think you might see a bit of your clack used in the next goldarngirl&luckiest1 series, from the Indy JBT. ;)

EEEEEEEEEE! for the GMA mention! This is starting to sound like a substantial interview. I am going to be *cough* conveniently *cough* running late for work tomorrow!

  16. as I read all your stories...I came to realize you all were not doing it for Clay, It was not about Clay ...you were doing it for yourselves, to have fun and to get out of your comfort zone and LIVE....its about learning to live life to the fullest.it reminds me of this great song from MAME that goes "open a new window...open a new door..travel a new high way thats never been tried before..."

Yes, you got it! That's definitely it for me....I'm having fun and loving it! Pfffffffft to family members who try to drag me down.

  17. Luckiest1... what does your siggy mean...I've been meaning to ask for weeks!

Hee! I've been waiting for someone to figure it out.....it's my new license plate. I ordered it for my birthday. Who wants to guess? (ldyjocelyn, you are disqualified since I already told you! :P )

    C L Z M Y L V S

I figured it would be less painful than getting it tattooed on my body. ;)

So, it seems as though I've met many of y'all at one concert or another. I'm not the kind to dive into the middle of a conversation, so I guess I'm not very memorable. But Scarlett, I distinctly remember introducing myself to you at the restaurant in Interlochen. Heh, I almost typed "last year" but it's been longer than that, hasn't it?

  18. Luckiest1 I can not believe we have been in the same place so many times. I'm sure we met and said hi and all but I'm old, have short term memory and need to meet folks a few times and sit with them and talk about something or share a ride or room to remember hee. Can't wait for next tour. I hope there is a place that will be convenient for all the FCAers.

Heh, then I guess you don't remember that I sold you a ticket for the Raleigh afternoon NaT but couldn't find you to give it to you and then finally found you after the show and apologized? :allgood:

  19. My moment......

was not "Take". I didn't watch AI1, and I didn't start off watching AI2. My daughter used to sit and watch it in the living room and I could occasionally hear it. Eventually I started going in just to watch Ruben and Clay. I think the first show I actually sat and watched was Billy Joel night. I was not gaga until Solitaire. I literally fell off the couch and I have never looked back. I discovered the boards and at first only streamed video from ca.com until I figured out how to right click and save, and then, like many of you, discovered Neurox and was in d/l heaven.

Voting....and one of my craziest things

I live in Canada, so you know, we can't vote. But my daughter begged and begged until I relented and we drove 3 hours to Buffalo on a work day/school night so we could watch the finale and vote on a friend's phone. We never got through once on the land line but we got through 88 times on text. And then drove home again.

    Other crazy things.....

    - We drove 6 hours on snowy roads in December 2003 to see Clay sing 4 songs in Cleveland at the Jingle Ball.

    - We flew to Raleigh, rented a car, bought a map, and found our way to Winston Salem for the IT. All this one day after we'd already seen it in Detroit.

    - I piled my 3 teenagers in my little Chevy Cavalier and drove 16 hours to Greensboro, NC to see the NaT. We camped along the way because we couldn't afford hotels, and then we camped for a few days at the ocean in Wilmington before we drove back home again. Then I saw the same show 4 more times by car, and flew back to Raleigh in October to see it again, twice in one day. We stayed with a lady who I'd never met or spoken with other than in board PMs. It was great!

    - Rinse, lather, repeat.

  20. And speaking of celebrating the good and not picking it apart and finding the cloud behind the silver lining, I saw this at the CH posted by Notacanuck:

Clay's "A Thousand Days" sneaks onto this week's Radio & Records AC chart at #29.

    http://www.radioandrecords.com/formats/charts/ac_chart.asp

I think that's worth an eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee or two!

    :EmoticonRingAround:

I'll match you and raise you a :manynanas: Awesome news!

  21. That's interesting about your mom. My mother is adamantly opposed to going into assisted living, but she's definitely lonely. You're making me wonder whether I should be pushing her harder to go, but she's been so big on this for such a long time. I don't think she wants to leave her house and her things.

My grandmother passed away last year at the age of 92. We managed to leave her in her own house until she was 90. It was probably the hardest thing I ever did, to put her in the car that day and drive her away. She was never diagnosed with Alzheimers, but the dementia was really getting extreme. I think we made the final decision the day she showed up at a neighbours house in the early morning, confused as to where her house was. That scared us. She also had a delusion that the "gremlins" were getting into her house and stealing her things.

We first moved her into a "seniors apartment" which seemed like a good transition at the time. All of her living room furniture fit, there were no stairs, she had her own kitchen, etc. Unfortunately, in hindsight, I wish we'd just gone straight to the assisted living environment, which we did the next year. She was much happier in that environment, where they had group activities like bingo, euchre, and excercise class. The staff encouraged her to get out and about and socialize. She certainly ate a lot more regularly and a much healthier, more varied menu. We didn't have to worry that she might forget to turn the burner off, since she had no kitchen in her room. The staff gave her her pills, so there was never the risk that she would over or under-medicate. She was one of the oldest residents, but also one of the most mobile, only occasionally relying on a cane. She was a card shark (rummy mostly) and played up until she passed away peacefully in her sleep last year.

I'm sure you'll make the decision that's right for your mom. I think we would probably have left my grandmother in her own home if any of us had lived close enough to be able to keep an eye on her, but unfortunately, we didn't. The assisted living facility was just down the road from my mom (her daughter) so that sealed the deal, for us.

It's amazing that your mom still plays scrabble and especially that she is on a laptop! Heh, my mom is 71, and no matter how hard I try to teach her, she can't learn how to turn the darned computer on and check her email.
