From Zippy at the CB Quote: Fri night's performance was again a fantastic one! My sister and I managed to upgrade our seats and we were seated in Row C Centre! Those are pretty good seats. I can see their reactions on their faces. I keep thinking whenever Clay becomes Pharoah no.2 and accuses Benjamin of stealing his favourite cup that he reminds me of Ted Neeley from Jesus Christ Superstar. He does a very good job of singing and performing this Joseph role. Clay broke the cup that he stuffed in Benjamin's bag. Not sure if this happens every time. BIG Standing O for Clay and company tonight! Guess what happened tonight? At the stage door, Clay came out in his baggy shorts & blue striped golf shirt and proceeded to sign peoples' items with somebody's blue pen. I heard him ask "Does anyone have a sharpie?" I always carry a sharpie for Clay emergency purposes and dug right into my trusty handbag and quickly whipped out my Black Sharpie Pen. Zippy to the rescue!! I shouted, "I have a Sharpie pen!" He heard me and came right to me at my end of the stage door line. He proceeded to sign my playbill and promptly signed my aunt's Joseph/Clay poster. He then used my Sharpie to sign everybody elses' items! Then, he hugged 2 special guys at my end of the line and they wore "I heart Clay" T-shirts. Clay promptly came up to them and I saw one of the kids give him a peck on the cheek. Everyone went "Awwww!" Afterwards, he left quickly and was about to go back in but remembered he had my pen and gave it to somebody in the crowd. The Sharpie came back to me! I have a pen with Clay's DNA on it!! LOL

From CV: From jc4aikenheart There is a sign that says Welcome to fabulous Egypt. Then someone comes on stage and turns the sign around and says what happens here stays here...the audience laughs. The sexy Egyptian wife seduces Clay with her leg then 4 other Eygptian servants all surrounding Clay and take off his extra clothes...the neck and arm brace and then they throw him on the bed and rub his chest back and forth. They are really feeling Clay up and it's hot!!! She didn't see that part at the 2:30 show. When the brothers sold Clay to slave owners Clay said I don't know Eygptian. That was funny as they tie and drag him away. Full house and lots of NJU.

Quote: Keala is awesome. I was impressed by her immediately. I don't think their mics need to be turned up much, just in certain places in the show. I can't remember where I noticed it for her but definitely for Clay when he's on the ground for part of one song. Yes Clay is funny. Forgive me for not remembering exactly, but there's quite a bit where he just stands there and his facial expressions say everything and he's quite good at that. I I remember correctly there is was a sequence in Spam where he just made facial expressions and was hilarious and this was similar. The Pharoh is a trip. (And hotttttt!) he's not the strongest vocist compared to Clay and Keala but he did nail it when he went for the big moments. The mashup at the end is quite fun and shows how talented the cast is but Clay doesn't particular in it until the very end where it slows down and he comes out in another (different) beautiful coat. I will admit I didn't think I was going to think much of the show since I was never a fan of "any dream will do" and if the whole show was that kind of music, ho hum. But keala immediately brought me in and of course Mr. Aiken. He was made for these songs. I course I don't really know the original score at all but if adjustments had to be made for his voice, they were sublime. And so was his voice. I did not notice one single moment of struggle and I usually notice that right away. Lets hope it stays that way for the whole run. I don't have immediate plans to go again but seeing as I only live 35 minutes away, there's no way I'm missing out on going at least one more time. More soon if I think of it. Quote: The speech is the artistic director explaining 1. that the show (and all of their shows) is not a traveling show, that it is staged and directed etc precisely for that playhouse 2. Told about the upcoming shows and 3. Named each of the shows sponsors by name even though they were projected on the walls while he lights were up and 4. Told no photos etc. I didn't think much of it because its a community theater who is proud of their reputation and needs every single sponsor that they have but I'm hearing that this complaint came from the cast but they don't want to tell the director themselves out of respect. Said it dragged down the opening excitement of the crowd.

My friend who is there reports "goosebumps" and "teary eyes." Says Clay is "adorable" and he's hitting the "OMG notes." Says the audience is whooping and hollaring after he sings - they're loving it!!! Says he looks so "damn cute" and she wishes it was really his hair. Finally, she said they were told if they saw someone with a phone on, they would be escorted out.

Ladies behind me debating on whether or not he's wearing a wig. Haha! Everyone loves him. Lots of applause. Wig is different than in the promo pic. Looks lighter & more brushed back off his face. Close Every Door or whatever it's called was GREAT, lots of applause. No loin cloth yet, just white linen, white sandals. Intermission right now. I don't know how to make this red. Haha! - Vertigo's daughter QUOTE (Shrimp1978 @ Jul 31 2013, 07:08 PM) "Close Every Door" was freaking amazing. But his mic needs to be a little louder when he's hunched over on the ground singing the beginning. Stage right is where the narrator stands quite often and within the first few rows he can be hard to see because of her. Sorry for the strange posting.......on iPad!
