  1. The CH banner is just.....so wonderful. Congrats, Quiana! I want to see Clay doing the baby talk to Chamberlain....and singing a lullaby. Oh God.
  2. OMG! OMG! ME! ME! OOH! OOH! (TM Horshack) I've been in cohoots with my buddy who lives in Philly about the July 21 thingy for a while now. See, I have a free roundtrip Southwest Airlines ticket just burning a hole in my pocket....and now that airfares have skyrocketed (heh) because of the damned oil company's grasp on us by our short hairs, I'm ready to use the ticket to fly ACROSS THE FREAKIN' CONTINENT to welcome our man back into the public eye (which, if he isn't careful, he could poke out with that thang )..... I've also already asked a couple of my hotel contacts in the business I do (event/meeting planning) to check into possible dEEEP discounts in Manhattan near Bryant Park...just in case..... Of course, a FREE floor would be even better! Now I'm hearing little rumblings on boards that maybe it won't be July 21 on GMA but instead Aug 4on the Today Show...the networks are fighting over him, most likely, huh? Guess they're not as stupid as they seem. Of course, how could Clay even THINK of cheating on Diane Sawyer? She'd never forgive him! I'm SOOOOO in need of Clay Aiken. God. It's been way too long. He's too.... good and he just leaves me wanting more..... :em0200:
  3. Hello, gang...haven't been here in a while. Did get a chance last week to share a brew or two with Couchie , which was all kinds of wonderful, of course. I'm going to bring something over here to share with you guys. Lately, I've been listening to old radio interviews that Clay did---ones from 2003---while walking the dog. And let me tell you, that dog is getting some LOOOONNNNNNGGGG walks these days! I just want to keep listening to that man talk and giggle and snark and be so danged funny and smart and quick with the quips and.... sigh.... Anyway, at my home board of EAYOR, quite a few women are facing some tough, tough challenges in their lives right now and so I got a more techically savvy friend to help me create a You Send It of this one particular part of an interview I listened to last night. I'm going to preface it with what my description of what happened to me when I heard it and why I wanted to get others to listen, too. Scroll at will, please, over that part, but I DO hope you'll download the link. I guarantee you'll feel better from whatever ails you afterwards. (Think of it as a blog that you can just zip on through until the CLACK appears! :glare: )
  4. bottlecap...I'm with you. I try not to do the whole salt lick crap anyway. I read, ponder, consider, snark, pshaw...whatever...but mostly, I just wait and see, you know? But calliek's posts make me grin like a fool and feel all jumpy inside and that's a helluva lot better than dwelling on my sciatica!
  5. Yes and no, couchie...I LOVE his beautiful humongous titanium balls....yes, I do. The hair? Not so much. At least the way it is now....I do think it has potential, but it needs work. Too thin looking and stringy and greasy looking for my tastes. Maybe when it's not loaded with product..? I don't know. I think he looked paradoxically manly and like a little boy. The little boy part made me feel sorta ewwwwww, considering how I spend most of my thinking about the guy... But ultimately----damn, that VOICE! The presence, power, confidence, ....the man. You know, Pauler did say a couple of smart things in her drug fog. "He just....IS."
  6. Exactly! And since he made a reference to 'that dude needs to shave' at the end of his blog... I started my response post with "That dude doesn't need to shave. That dude needs to get his cute lil' butt back on tour!" I have to schedule my life, you know. :glare:
  7. Can someone PLEASE explain to me why this is true, if it indeed is? WHY would/does Fantasia have lots of industry respect? I'm actually asking a serious question here. Thanks. I think if we were to rewatch last night's final three show and then rewatch AI2's final three show, well.... We know what would happen. Ruben, Kim, Clay... or Taylor, Kat, Elliott... Hmmm....let me think. Hell, even taking Clay out of the mix...Kim and Ruben had it all over any or all of the three last night. Which is why I couldn't answer my daughter when she asked who I wanted to win this year.
  8. Oh.Dear.God. I watched it. Lucky for me I missed Elliott's "Open Arms"...Now, if only I'd been able to miss all the rest of the....songs. Parts of Somewhere Over the Rainbow were good. But I kept hearing Kimberley Locke and seeing her...and... sorry, Kat...no cigar. Taylor---I thought these three were his weakest performances. And the last one with the spastic finale? Somehow Joe Cocker doesn't look as...affected. Elliott? Sorry....the vibrato gets me every time. And he was having pitch problems tonight, I think. My daughter is a huge Chris fan. Watching the show together tonight, she kept asking me who I thought should win, and I'm not kidding---I couldn't for the life of me come up with a name. I never did. However, I did begin ovulating again imagining Clay performing "Try a Little Tenderness". Medical miracle.
  9. You guys are so much fun to read! I'm here in California at my fave coffee shop with free internet access while my younger daughter's at gymnastics. Do you ALL live on the East Coast? I won't be seeing any of this stuff for another hour and a half! Ultimately, for me it comes down to this: Elliott---I cannot STAND the goatboy vibrato. I've always hated that kind of vibrato with a passion, no matter WHO'S singing with it and Elliott's voice isn't grand enough to break the mold for me. Never mind the aesthetic challenges he faces---looks, image, etc.---I just don't like the sound of his voice. I would never spend money on it. Taylor---He has moments. THere have been times when I've appreciated that gravelly aspect of his voice and if I'm just listening to him singing, I can enjoy it. Watching him, while entertaining to some embarrassing degree, is basically an exercise in waiting....waiting for the next absurd spasm to be the one that no one can excuse as being rhythmic or necessary or....palatable. He's just too karaoke, like you've said---both his singing style and his....er....visuals. Katherine---Man, I'd kill to have that body and that face. Of course, every MALE watching is thinking the same thing. :glare: I read someone somewhere saying she needs voice lessons. Isn't her mother a vocal coach? But I agree. She has a lovely tone, a quality to her voice, but she just can't seem to bring it. She doesn't ever totally get it---either the notes are there but there's no connection with the lyrics. Or she's all over the freaking floor 'feelin' it' but sings like she's getting paid a million bucks for every key she can sing the song in before she finishes. Of course, for AI, she'd be the easiest one to sell. I hear that "Studio Magic" software can do wonders in a recording studio. :glare: And we certainly know of other coughbritneycoughhillarycough female singers who get away with lip synching when they don't have the studio magicians to make them sound decent. I'm with you, djs11, this truly IS a reality show this year---calling this season a talent search is a joke---a joke like Paula's boobs or Simon's boobs or Randy's boobs. Hey! I just realized that not only IS each judge a boob, each judge HAS boobs! I wanna see Clay's boobs.
  10. Hey, couchie! MWAH! Have to share this proud mama moment. This is an upbeat post---just thought I'd warn you guys in case you want to talk about sad stuff. But this pride is about a VERY superficial thing---not academics and how smart my kids are... 'just' sports... In Carrie's (she's almost 11) softball game last night, she pitched and faced 15 batters. But only twice did a bat even make contact with a pitch! I heard a couple of girls as they walked back to the dugout say, "That was scary!" Granted, the result of one of the bat/ball contacts was a home run ...but it wouldn't have been if our outfielders had done their jobs! It's so cute because we played against the team with her best friend on it, who is also an ace pitcher. They'd been on the same team for six years before the league split them up this year. After the game, the two teams lined up to slap hands saying 'good game, good game' down the line... when Carrie and Mia met up in the line, they grabbed each other and hugged and laughed and squealed and said, "Good pitching!" to each other! Now THAT'S the way sports should be played! Where's Clay and why won't he answer my calls?

  12. My lasting impressions? 1. I want to hear Clay sing both songs that Taylor sang. I could die happy if I heard him sing those two songs. I do NOT want to hear ANYBODY sing them with the style of vibrato that Elliott did. Thing is, I agree with Simon that tonight Elliott showed personality and sounded okay in some regards... but that VIBRATO...God, I HATE that vibrato. 2. Suspicious Minds; Can't Help Falling In Love---nobody EXCEPT Clay should ever try to sing these two Elvis songs. 3. Clay's Elvis dancing at the mic was SOOOOO much better than Taylor's 'karaoke' dance version of Elvis dancing. 4. Kat chokes on stage. She's beautiful and seems nice and when she was rehearsing she sounded...good at times. But she just CHOKES when her ass in on the line...when it counts. Nothing about either of her songs was good to me. My vote....Kat goes home. ho hum yuck good god And then to read that Simon said during AI2 about Clay, "We must stop him. We must stop him." Please. Please, somebody please tell me WHY? WHY would he feel the need to say that?
  13. I'm embarrassed to say I'm completely haphazard and unorganized with my Clay collection. I was put to shame the first time couchie came to my house. She had a big plastic storage box of Clay things and I felt like a kid looking through the window of a toy store---looking, coveting, but..... She, being the generous soul that she is, however, did give me an extra copy she had of one of the UNCC mags that had a bunch of stuff about Clay in it. But I have a shopping bag, a box, a stack of this, a few of that here and there---whatever, but it's all over the place. Unlike Clay himself.
  14. Guarinni? Holy crap. I didn't even know he was still trying to make it in music. Seriously. Did he get a record deal with a different label? Didn't RCA tell him buh-by? I don't get it. AI has Andrea Bocelli, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, et al on this show and then for the FINALE has Justin Guarinni? What, did Kelly turn them down? Ruben not available? Carrie too busy getting ready to win a Grammy this year? Josh is doing pretty well..where's he? Heck, I'd even prefer Tamyra. Heck, where's Trenyce? Who? Say again? Clay? Aiken? Clay Aiken? Didn't he lose to Ruben a few years ago? Whatever happened to him? Has he had any music out lately? Huh? Tours? Huh. Well, I don't know about tours, but I remember he sang the hell out of Bridge Over Trouble Water! Kinda cute, too, in a freckle-faced, big-eared, floppy-footed (sex-on-a-stick ) kinda way.
  15. I second this and raise it to anyone who dares sing any of the Elvis songs Clay sang during JBT AND any of the Elvis songs he did NOT sing, but that I imagine him singing the schnitz out of. That should pretty much cover it.
  16. I remember AI2 and the whole 'tired voice' thing. Ruben's voice was really showing strain in those last weeks, but I think his voice is not all that strong to begin with--it's pretty and has a nice quality to it, but it's not a STRONG voice; he has poor breath control, etc. Clay's voice showed strain in TITN and HTAE, in my opinion. I remember feeling so worried and pessimistic after he sang those two songs. HTAE was the first time I detected poor breath support from him...he's got amazing breath control! And in TITN, he seemed to be really struggling for those notes...unlike during BOTW, where he seemed to be perfect in his sleep! :o I agree about the screaming thing with Chris...he's a rocker dude and he yells like a rocker dude. Remember when Kelly came back on AI2 and could hardly sing? Miss Independant and One Voice? I HURT listening to her screech and I was just thinking how the AI machine was killing her voice with all the appearances and then her own desire to rock out (spelled Y-E-L-L :glare: )... Anyway, in my opinion, Clay Aiken has a really nice voice. And he's hawt, too.
  17. This is interesting...and confusing to me. Allison, the music teacher who was in JNT, where does she fit in with all these stories of Clay and his bids to be a soloist here or there or get the lead part in this or that?
  18. I LOVE dropping in here on Tues and Wed nights! CMSU! Bye, Paris...actually, I thought she was very sweet and mature about the whole thing. We might even hear her name years down the road. She has a voice...just needs some guidance and training, IMO. Elliot, bless his heart. His melisma and vibrato are just too annoying to allow me to warm up to him or consider him a serious singer. Taylor and Chris are both 'one trick ponies' to me, although I could see Chris having some success with a good band. I think I have to agree with Taylor as a Vegas act---either that or he has to change his schtick enough so as not to come back after intermission to see everyone had to go home and wash their hair or take out the garbage, or something. Gets OLD, I tell ya. Ah lovely Kat. Not skinny, not fat. Her boobies are big ones, Hey!... how about that? Beautiful face. But not graced with much grace. The men watch those boobs bounce all over the place. Voice is so-so. Pitchy-- high and low. Big deal! The AI machine just keeps raking in the dough. (insert bitchy cat noise here... )
  19. Y.A.W.N. Kat: horrendous, then pretty good--sounded good, loved the drums and her interaction with the drummers. wish she'd been able to resist humping the floor, though. Elliot: his vibrato just gets in the way of my enjoying his talent Chris: he'll get a record contract; hope he gets smarter about using his voice. On that second song, he should have ad libbed on some of those high notes and done a change up to save it... Paris: I actually enjoyed her two performances tonight more than I have previous ones. She's so much better than Fantasia, it's not funny (IMO) Taylor: first way, way, way over the top and absurd...all the antics overshadow his voice, which can be interesting. and "Something"? puh leaze...Leave such a treasure alone...unless you're Clay Aiken, in which case....sing it, CLay... That's my lasting impression of this show, I think. WHen I heard Elliot sing "Home", I almost cried because from the very first time I heard Buble sing this, I started dreaming of hearing Clay treat it. And I used that verb intentionally. I would love to hear how Clay would interpret this song. I think he'd find so much personal meaning in it and as a result, he'd... kill. That is all. He would kill us all.
  20. Hmmm...so the fashion show you're speaking of is the fashion show whose organization's web page looks like a feminine hygiene advertisement? Do we know if it even happened? Do we care? I miss Clay Aiken with the burning heat of a trillion suns.
  21. Woo Hoo! Kellie is outta heer! Didn't watch (that tv turn off thing) so had to pop in to get the scoop... playbiller...my two girls and I sat and listened to the downloads of last night's performances and had a ball! Thanks! My hubby was in the other room and thought Elliot sounded good. I thought he was the best of them...but he didn't melt my socks. Taylor was the weakest I've heard him, I think. Boring. Chris---sounded ok, but as someone said, his goat vibrato really stood out and got annoying. Kat started out sounding pretty good...but then, the same thing---she seems to expire in the middle of a note, or something slips or loses intensity or integrity or something...and by the end, she was screeching. My younger daughter winced more than once...I can't figure Kat out, to be honest with you. Vocally, I mean. Paris---just okay for me. I'm with the consensus: that she doesn't really have a style of her own. Kellie---please. Just no. As soon as it was over, I clicked on AI2 Clay AIken UM...and both my daughters just nodded and said, "Yeah...THAT." I said, 'Exactly." Hee!
  22. Thanks, playbiller! I'll have to wait until I get home to download!
  23. That would be great! Thanks...
  24. Hrrrmmmpppffff! As a dutiful mother of an elementary school kid, I am taking part in the "Turn Off Television" week. Which means, of course, I did NOT see AI last night, nor will I see the results show tonight. Your comments are cracking me up. Thank you. The only thing I can say about Pickle singin UM...is she must have some huge balls hiding under those down home bluejeans... I might even fast forward that one when I watch the tape of this show next week! Ah...AI2---those were the days.
  25. Though I wouldn't have phrased it like that. heh. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hee! You are me...er, I... although from either one of our perspectives, that's a scary thought, ain't it?
