  1. Ok, and first of all... the scrollbar is your friend. This next little story of mine doesn't really have all that much to do with Clay.. except for me it does. And since not too many of you know me, perhaps it can also be a way of introducing myself. Anyway, here it is, short and quick (I hope…). Back in May of '03 I remember surfing the World Wide Web trying to find something... anything else about Clay. And seriously I really had no idea as to the extent of what was already out there or what I'd find, including the skads of old demos, which I immediately burned to CD's and then burned a couple more just because it was something to do (yea, you know what I’m talking about). I hadn't even begun to put a name whatever it was I was doing yet. But so, since I had a couple of “extras” of course gave a set to each of my daughters, who almost in unison said so eloquently if I remember correctly, "Thanks mom"... Well that very night (and I can remember it as if it were last night) lying in bed with my headphones on and listening to "I Will Be Here" for the first time and thinking "OMG! (Although I didn't really express it that way as an acronym back then…) He has just GOT to sing that at [daughter's] wedding! (Even though she didn't have even a glimmer of a boyfriend at the time...) But it didn't take me long to realize that "he" would probably never be able to fit “that” into his schedule… and that was ok because I still had a major backup plan. My ex-husband and [daughter's] dad, has an incredibly exquisite voice and in fact the similarity in the vocal tone is almost uncanny. "Right" you're saying. Ok yes, I understand that it’s only my opinion, but at the very least he HAS still managed to make a living out of doing nothing else but sing for the past 30 years. Well that, and dressing up and dancing... And in truth?.. it would really be a lot more special to have [daughter's] own daddy sing it anyway. Fast forward… [daughter] got married two years ago and I had already long before forgotten about my entertainment agenda for the someday wedding. (Even though she DID get “Everything I Have” as the background music for the wedding montage!) And besides, she’d asked her sister to sing at her wedding and of course ex-hubby accompanied her on the piano... and it was perfect all around. Very fast forward… [daughter] called a few days ago and she’s helping [daughter2] with wedding plans (which will culminate this weekend!) and she wanted to know if I would be at all upset if she and her dad sang a certain song at the wedding. Seems they’ve been going round and round on which one he’d do and they finally found a perfect one from an “old” CD that I’d given her… I guess the first thing I said was… “Why in the world would you think it would bother me?” And the second thing I said was… “Eeeeeeeeeeeee!” Maybe she thinks I own the rights??? Ok, so that post was way longer than I had intended it to be. ANd yet ... there's even much more irony to this story than meets the eye... and maybe someday I will be bold enough to tell it.
  2. I think this collection of the Somalia pictures are (is?) my favorite ever. Did ya'll think I was kidding about redecorating my bedroom in those colors? But the banner pic isn't too shabby either. Almost makes me wanna do a picture tournament...
  3. Huh? July 28th? What did I miss???
  4. Ack! My eyes are crossed due to all this ongoing goodness! Happy Birthdays to all I've missed. I wish I had some glitter to go along with it!... You Betcha! But don't worry, you know I'll keep ya'll updated on how this whole thing turns out... Couchie... only 35 more posts to go, right?
  5. Video tournament is back up so don't forget to VOTE! This one is fairly easy... IMHO. But still...
  6. You guys are awesome! Thanks annabear, liney23, cha cha trusty and couchie for suggestions on my upcoming paper. I will mull them over. And they'd probably lead to more insightfulness than my current idea which is "The Ubiquity of YouTube." heh Still, since I've received no less than 8 copyright infringement warnings over past week (primarily due to the lbfca video tournament) this might be a valuable topic for me to 'research.'... cindilu2… I won’t “quote” that picture again, but GAH do I love that tasty color scheme of chartreuse and burnt umber! In fact, it makes me want to go redecorate my bedroom!... As for K’lo, I like her fine. The only thing that’s ever really pissed me off about her was that long ago rather kindergarten-ish response/defense about the duo-tour. As for JC… he has a different sort of voice which I kind of enjoy when I’m in a laid back sort of mood. Other than that, I wouldn’t mind meeting up with him in a dark, or even bright, alley and either with or without the IQ… Two questions: Can anybody send me a link to a good “smiley” resource? I don’t have a very vast collection as I have never really been allowed to use them before. *g* And also, what exactly do I have to do to rise above the rank of dog walker?.. thanks. HeidiHo... WOW! Oh yes... and cha cha trusty, I can never have enough of your wallpapers.
  7. Ha Playbiller... A notification about this topic just popped into my email and I thought I'd reply because it's rather timely. I too, have had some wonderful neighbors, in fact more often than not. But a couple of months ago a portion of my fence fell down (and yes it is MY fence though it was already there and pretty much on it's last legs already when I bought the house 15 years ago...) So anyway, even though I mentioned to my neighbor that it wouldn't bother me to just take the whole thing down he told me that for about $100 he'd probably be able to fix it. Long story short, he came over the other day and told me that the materials ended up being more than he'd anticipated so it was now going to cost me $165. So I sighed and wrote him a check. Imagine my chagrin when I went out there to disover the "old and rusty" green stakes he'd used to put the fence (that benefits both of us) back up, and of course the unsightly things were on my side. What to do? Well, I suppose I could have majorly called him on it, but I guess I figure I've paid 'a whole lot more for less' in my time and I would have paid a lot more to have had a professional do it. At least my fence is back up. Still can't help but think how most of the neighbors I've had in my lifetime would have just pitched in out of "neighborly spirit." Anyway, hang in there. Neighbors come in all shapes and [heart] sizes. I suppose you just have to weigh it all and determine if a small fight is worth an ongoing battle.
  8. Gibby... I swear, that is one of my favorite pictures of him of all time!!! And probably the one which, for me, started this whole mess... **Scrolls back up to look at it one more time** And I really like this one too. Linda Hubber's pencil sketch ~ layered over the original... from my Photoshop class last year. Goodnight all.
  9. This thread travels so fast sometime and so with working full time and going to school two nights a week makes it really easy to get behind. And also, right now I’m sitting on this term paper I have to do which has to be six pages on a subject having to do with “Technology.” Ok, well that narrows it down… Any great ideas out there? Maybe I'll do something on 'Webster’s' and how with a name like that they should really better catch up. Ha, can you imagine what somebody reading that even 10 years ago would have thought? cha cha trusty… your ‘wordles’ were VERY cool!
  10. Is it ok if I'm late? Questionaire: 1. Your part in the fandom: how has it evolved? Do you consider it a hobby or an addicition? How much time do you spend on your fandom? It’s not an addiction because I really think I could stop at any time… 2. What would you considered a "blowtorched puppy" -- in other words, what could Clay do that would make you stop being a fan? He could do a zillion things that would cause that… only thing is, he would never do any of those things and in that I feel confident. Examples? Ok… like peeling the wings off a butterfly. I don’t think he would do that. 3. How do you feel about "shipping Clay?" Why do you feel that way? I’ve never understood the idea of shipping, what does that mean? It sounds kinky. But I guess if I ever had to, I would ship him overnight... 4. How does Clay combat the tabloid media? By not blogging? 5. Should Clay be a "superstar?" A "pop star"? An "entertainer?" Or all of the above? Happy above all. 6. How do you feel Clay's voice has evolved over the past 4 years? This one’s tough, but I think his voice, at any given moment, is completely dependent on how much he is into any given moment… Does that make sense? Another bright and shiny ovary just popped up while looking at that second one thankyouverymuch. Those pictures say in so many less complicated words than I could ever express why I believe I'm here. Ack, this place moves so fast!... or maybe I'm just still getting accustomed to the look and feel of things. But I'm enjoying it here. Tonight there's a THREE WAY. But it was pretty much a piece of cake for me. In fact I pretty much found that I didn't really even need the other two...
  11. Just got home from my 4 hour "Intro to C.I.S. class (driest thing evah) after working all day and WOW this place flies! Anyway, not sure if you've had a chance to vote over at lbfca or not. I swear, this was the hardest one yet!... (but I was grateful for the moisture).
  12. And also, I think that he has been pretty d*mn near 100% faithful to all the things he's ever professed to stand for and believe in. But when it comes down to very extremely personal issues, I just don't believe he owes anybody any explanations or apologies. I can't even imagine having such pressures placed on myself. I'm not an angelwinger my any means and maybe that's my problem. I mean all I've said from the very beginning of this whole thing is... you GO stud! Am I too much of a newbie to be talking like this? If so, just feel free to smack me down.
  13. I don't get the whole "He isn't the person we think he is..." or whatever keeps prompting that. Because that would assume that 'we' ever really knew him. And I don't believe any of us ever 'really' have. Not really. Anyway... Tulsa. He was so very, very hot that night... hee Permaswooned! Bookwhore... I like your siggy...
  14. Absolutely. Thanks so much!
  15. Hi, it's me Chardonnay. I've been wanting to join back in the fun over here for a while now but it's just been one RL adventure after another. Actually, I think I even won a contest over here a couple years ago, right Couchie? Anyway, here's my question. How come when I'm editing my profile information it says that my board and board name are required fields? And I can't get them to not show up. Not that I'm not proud of my board and board name, but I don't see it showing up on anyone elses... Can somebody help?
  16. Haven't been here in forever, in fact I'm not sure if I'm even doing this right. But I couldn't resist giving a shout out to the Houston rivet. I was smack dab center and I've still got the bruise to prove it...
  17. I totally missed the boat on this one due to other commitments unrelenting. But this venue has become my sweetest tradition and I just really, really wanna to go. However, I'm not really a total mercy case here because this is what I have to offer in return: Two THIRD ROW SEATS just slightly right of center at the Miller Auditorium in Kalamazoo on his birthday 11/30... in trade for something somewhat comparable in Merrilville. Original costs could be taken into consideration of course. My K'zoo ones were approximately $62 each... since they were part of a "membership." *g* I'm not interested in selling them (already had 15 offers) or (God forbid) making any sort of a profit on them. Just interested in trading. We're nothing if not resourceful sometimes .. eh? Please email me at jnut23@comcast.net if interested.
  18. Well, the first one that comes to my mind is this one... Oh yeah... click on it.. several times. I dare ya. But then it might not be eligible since it's a Photoshop (hee). Linda Hubers sketch superimposed upon the original. But I love it! And it's served as my wallpaper for months! So now I have two more??? Off to peruse... Edited... I have to admit it was one of my final projects for my intro to graphics 120 class. Don't know how it turned out so beautiful. It just miraculously... happened.
  19. OK, I hope I'm doing this in the right place since this isn't my home and I'm not too familiar. Feel free to move if need be. I spend at least a year compiling my favorites after each tour.
