  1. I figured yesterday's tourney would be harder than the previous day's. Guess I was wrong! Here are your choices today: #1 OR #2 Happy voting at the top of the page!
  2. canfly, I'd switch to either Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome, if it were me. I'm to the point where I don't use IE unless I absolutely, positively HAVE to. Anyone got a good recommendation on a digital SLR camera? My husband and I are either looking at a Canon or a Nikon (I can't remember the model numbers at the moment).
  3. Ah, glasses love. Sigh. Yesterday's photo tourney poll flipped flopped so many times, I got whiplash. But as I get up this morning, I see a winer has emerged...by one freakin' vote. Wow. Here is today's photo tourney poll. This is another cruel choice for me. However, I'm pretty sure I know which one keepingfaith will pick...
  4. Wow. Closest vote yesterday ever...let's see what today brings! 31 OR #2 I find this one particularly tough. Don't forget to vote at the top of the page!
  5. Did someone say "glasses pictures?" Hee! That one is even avatar size already... The hawt Reverend Mr. Aiken in that one...
  6. treenuts, the MST3K thing last night was fantastic! Truly laugh-out-loud funny in so many ways. I guess, for me, I truly don't understand the hatred that seemingly is still felt by many toward RCA. IMO -- it's been three years. Isn't there a way to let that go? Ancient history, and all that. Here's the way I see much of it. I've been accused several times of being a pollyanna because I didn't care one way or the other about his recording contracts and the way Clay has been treated. I truly don't feel that anyone did anything on purpose to Clay Aiken in order to sully his name, save for one, and that one I've learned to ignore like crazy. (Still don't understand why his name or even his initials get bandied about still, to this day...but that's another story...) But I also don't see myself as a protector of Clay Aiken's good name, or his talent. I prefer to let that talent speak for itself, and have faith in his talent, and what he and HIS TEAM can do with it -- no matter who that team is. A good deal of this just feels so "protector" to me, and it just makes me go "blah." I will always love so much of ATDW, no matter how it came about. Sure, it may not have been the album to put out at that time, but it's done. (Again, that ancient history thing...) I've got it in my hands, plus another great album besides. I am truly thankful for that. And if that makes me a pollyanna, or a simpleton -- I guess I just don't care. Clay's career is what it is. It may not be what so many expected 5 years ago, but it's a good career, one that will continue for many, many years to come.
  7. The admins and I have discussed that, and if it gets to the point of a tie...I will flip a coin. And yes, I truly will flip a coin. #1 will be heads, #2, tails. Swear to God on a stack of Clay Aiken Rolling Stone magazines. All I can do, really.
  8. cindi, just remember -- only 64 pictures. Over a span of 7 years. And then think of ALL the looks Clay has had over this time frame. I had to make some tough choices, and as I said in my introductory email before the contest got started, I'm sure there will be some pictures that people will say "WTF is THAT doing in the contest?" or "WTF? They didn't include that one?" Plus, I wasn't the only one who suggested pictures...there were four of us, and we all have personal tastes as well. Having said that, there are some pictures that even I forgot, and am like "damn, should have included that one." I think this will probably suggest a second tourney at some point -- maybe with input from members here, suggesting 2 or 3 pictures. And then think of it -- can you limit your favorites to 2 or 3 pictures? Hee.
  9. Hopefully I'll have time today to reply to some posts...but I wanna get the photo tourney poll up first. Yesterday's tourney was the first time, I think, that the "loser" didn't even make double digits for the number of votes. Therefore, the winner won by a landslide! Here is today's photo tourney poll. Have a great time...choosing!
  10. Congratulations to yesterday's winner, and I thank you all for continuing to vote! Here are today's choices... #1 OR #2 Happy voting (at the top of the page, of course)!
  11. RiffTrax Live: Plan 9 from Outer Space List of participating theaters You've got about a half hour...show starts at 8:00 p.m. Eastern! OK, now I'm really off to see the MOVIE SIGN!!!
  12. Fanagers. I like the sound of that. I think one of the things that I almost always keep in mind when I think of Clay Aiken and his choices in music was his blog early in 2006. "Open your mind." To me, yes, many of the ATDW songs were overplayed even before Clay got to them. But, I listened with an open heart and open mind, and discovered the beauty in his interpretations for those songs. I feel the same way about the idea of him doing more interpretations in the future. He sings like a charm. Off to go see the Mystery Science Theater 3000 crew do a live simulcast, in movie theaters across the country, riffing on the worst movie ever, "Plan 9 from Outer Space." Should be a blast!
  13. OK, nebbermind my last question...I found all the answers. I'm like couchie in that one of my ideas about him was shattered. However, I'm just like "OK, cool. Whatever." OTOH, with more than a few of his answers, my ideas about him were reinforced. As luckiest1 said, he's told "us" more than a few times already that he hasn't ever really felt he's a top 40 artist, and also the kinds of songs he wants to sing. I accept that, have no problem with that, and thank God he wants to be true to himself. I've actually heard of chocolate cake with sweet pickles. Still sounds disgusting to me though.
  14. From Scarlett in one of the photo tourney threads:
  15. luckiest1 went to bed early, I went to bed early...ya'll need to thank BOTH of us for helping the cause last night. Hee. Yesterday's photo tourney had a fairly high difference in votes, so the winner appeared fairly early. (Sorry to disappoint the profile lover fans...) Here's today's tourney. Hope you enjoy it... Off to nominate something Scarlett said in the photo tourney as a thread title, and then off to find his answers. (Any help on question number to start with would be much appreciated...)
  16. Thank you for all your voting! Here are today's choices... #1 OR #2 Two different concert looks. Pick your favorite at the top of the page!
  17. I sense a thread title in Scarlett's post! This poll is now closed!
  18. {{{{hugs}}}} to all that need them... Welcome to smartcookie! Good luck on the interview FromClaygary! Yesterday's picture tourney was another one that wasn't all that close, and I wasn't surprised. Today, we being the second half of the first part of the tourney. Yes, we've voted on 32 pictures so far. One thing I want to mention is that some of you are having a hard time choosing between pictures now. Wait until we've gone through the entire batch, and then we start matching winners against each other! AAAAAGH!!!! Also, I do want to remind people that these pictures were paired RANDOMLY. I put pictures into a photobucket account as I stumbled upon them, with input from other admins and mods. Then, I just numbered them...and then had my husband pull numbers out of a Clay Aiken bucket hat to randomize them. Therefore, the "cruelness" of some of the pairings! The new photo tourney is here!
  19. And now...we begin...more new pictures! We're finished with the first 32 two pictures, whittling down that number to 16. Onward with the next 32, two pictures at a time! #1 OR #2 Vote at the top of the page!
  20. YAY for merrieeee going to the Gala! Can't wait to see you again! aikim, I've read that the show helps afterwards with the taxes as well, although I would have to do the research on that. I've also read of a story where a couple had the house built, lived in it for two years, and then got a second mortgage on the home and went bankrupt. I think it may totally depend on how the people can deal with the sudden changes -- some can be sensible, some can be stupid. We had a family about 20 miles from us that had their house redone. They made some changes after the show left (mostly because of personal taste) but in many ways, the house helped so much, especially for their son, who has brittle bone syndrome.
  21. I think that means "December 9, 2008."
