  1. OK, I just have to ask .... which Sex Machine are we talking about -- the Sly & The Family Stone instrumental from the Stand album ... or the James Brown song? ETA: In re-reading this, I think we all know what Sex Machine we're talking about. But what about the song?
  2. I would love it if Clay's concerts eventually evolve into a Grateful Dead-type experience ... where every concert was unique according to how the spirit moved them, and one song led into another and a song could last anywhere from 5 to 20-30 minutes on any given night. It was never pre-packaged. From watching Clack and realizing that, even when the set list doesn't change, Clay doesn't do the same show twice, he could be on the verge of full-blown eclectic, extemporaneous concert experiences.
  3. rcknrllmom, I adore your montages and watched a couple of them this morning on YouTube. Catching up is always educational -- never more so than watching "Just Like Heaven" and realizing that Clay's sexy-fingers-playing-with-micstand thing is nothing new!!!! Oh, and Clay looks so hot in black & white! And "Beautiful" and "You Make Me So Very Happy" speak for themselves. Thank you for putting these together with such care and flair. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJ5Y7HbxRMY
  4. Clay will be ecstatic to hear this --- the TV Guide link below says that Jericho is reportedly coming back! http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TV...Verge/800016482
  5. If, and I stress IF, I were going to ship Clay with somebody a la Paris ... it would be Tyra. Paris is definitely her stomping grounds ... and if Clay is wardrobe shopping for the tour, Tyra could help him out with that. I could see that late dinner in New York last month turning into a Paris trip ... YEAH! This is definitely imaginable. ETA: I said, IF, remember.
  6. Thanks for solving the color mystery, ldyjocelyn! That one had me stymied for a while. Whew! Case closed.
  7. Hmmmm....I guess I've always assumed that Jaymes and Clay have a working relationship, and not a lot else. I know it seems strange to some people that they are seen in close proximity fairly frequently, but in many of those instances they could be considered work places. For example -- Jaymes was a person who contributed ideas for many of his tours, and so it doesn't seem strange to me that she attends more than a few shows. keepingfaith, I think I'm not quite sure what you mean by "close personal relationship" -- if you're talking strictly work too, or if you could be hinting at more than that.... I dunno...I get the feeling that there are some fans who WANT to ship Clay and Jaymes, just to fuel some fantasies that Clay could possibly be interested in THEM as an "approaching middle age" woman. (keepingfaith, I'm not talking about you here -- please don't take it that way!) And sure, if Clay and Jaymes are having that kind of relationship, more power to them. I guess I just have never seen it. Most of the things I've "heard" are simply that -- things I've "heard," from who knows what channels. And we all know how reliable those things are, right? As for David's relationship -- mentor all the way. I think Clay's learning a LOT from the guy, both musically and in a business. Do I want a full album of ballads? Nah....but I wouldn't be totally surprised that we get one. Totally depends on that working relationship, and how much of a give-and-take David and Clay would allow with each other. Oh, and don't forget to work Clive in on this too. *g* I think it's more than work because .... Of what Clay wrote in the liner notes of ATDW, and that Jaymes was in North Carolina for the last couple of JnaT concerts, even went out on the bus line with him one night, and did the Word of the Day on stage, which leads me to think that since Jaymes was in NC for the Charlotte and Greensboro concerts during Christmas week she may very well have spent Christmas there as well -- more than a working relationship. Then Jaymes was working the Champions for Change Gala in March in Raleigh -- not an EP function. Just generally, and mostly from what Clay himself has written, she seems to be best buddy these days. ETA: Since we're into this family stuff ... and the picture above isn't Jaymes' family, but Clay's family since Jamie is in the picture ... I have a question about Jamie. In LTS Clay lists out all his cousins, including his step-cousins through Ray Parker; however, Jamie is not listed. He does say that Ray had cousins whose children were Ray's age and their children were Clay and Brett's ages. Therefore, from this, may we assume that Jamie is not a step-first cousin, but more likely a step-third cousin? Also, this may very well be bogus, but someone told me last year when this picture first appeared that the woman standing in front of Clay is his sister Amy. Anybody know for sure?
  8. Regarding the relationship between Clay and David Foster ... I believe their relationship is more than friends because it seems familial, but definitely not father/son. I get a "brother-in-law-ish" vibe due to the close personal relationship between Clay and Jaymes.
  9. Apropos of nothing, it just occurred to me that the venue where I saw probably the majority of big rock concerts in my life .... from Led Zeppelin, to Neil Young and Crazy Horse, ZZ Top, Paul McCartney & Wings (and on and on) is now the biggest church in town. And I saw some great NBA championship games there, too!
  10. Isn't Kansas the state where the political muscle of the churches banned the teaching of evolution in public schools? And this is a large non-denominational, right-wing, anti-choice church? (well, probably everything in Kansas is anti-choice). That Clay is singing in church doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I think his Christmas music fits well in church. But this particular type of church? Not for me, baby. If the venue makes a dime off this concert, not for me. However, if it's a benefit for Kansas tornado victims, and the church isn't profiting, then that's a different story. But I need to know more about this one.
  11. Karen Eh?, may I suggest jojo's Motown at Columbus. I believe I have settled into that being my all-time favorite JBT Motown video. If you like the Motown stuff, check it out.
  12. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2007/05/29/j...he_n_49799.html Anybody see this today? Justin Timberlake has launched his own record label in competition with Jive and named himself CEO.
  13. The way he sang "I need .... your love" in Columbus (via Clack for moi) just totally rips me. The talk about UM today reminded me to revisit it for the first time in a couple of months. Hot stuff!!
  14. Just jumping in to say that I thought everybody knew that there aren't any beans in chili!! What they eat in California should be called something else, just not chili, as that's how people get confused! The way I see it, if you put beans into a pot of chili, what you have then is a pot of beans. ETA: My favorite version of UM is this one from JBT Columbus. Alert, Alert, Sexy Man Singing:
  15. I think you'll recall that I was one of the biggest fans of that siggie! And yes I remember the comments it generated. Still cracks me up thinking about it!! And I'll take this opportunity to quote you just to see it again. You ROCK!!!
  16. Couchie, on further reflection I think less may be more. I'd love to have a shirt that says: DCAT 2007 Magnifico! Virtuoso! Molto Passionato! Maybe have the last one be the Eye-talian translation for "Hot and Sexy" or something on the suggestive side, perhaps?
  17. Heard on one of the cable news channels yesterday -- either CNN or MSNBC 'cause I don't watch Fox -- that one of the people filling in on The View until a permanent replacement is named will be Kathy Griffin. (Please don't shoot the messenger ... or the piano player.)
  18. Favorite hair, huh? Like I could avoid THIS one ... just a few of my favorites ....
  19. LadyJ and merrieeee ... what are you trying to do to me? I'm excited and anxious enough already, now you're scaring me. Keep the clack cameras where they belong on THE MAN -- I'll give you a post-concert testimonial with a Margarita!! I am counting the days. And, I'm looking forward to the reaction of my sister (KB) ... at least I've been advised what to expect from you experienced women -- but I'm intentionally not saying a word to KB. I want her to experience Clay spontaneously. She's never been on any boards and is an original Clay fan from AI. But once we hit those seats, she's on her own, baby. It's MY Clay concert! Woo-Hoo!
  20. I was replaying the Idol finale on DVR last night and realized that I don't have the results recorded. The show ran over two hours so people who were recording didn't get the results on the biggest results show of the year. The producers had time for embarrassing, exploitative Golden Idol moments for the purpose of further humiliating people on national TV, and couldn't fit in the announcement of the 2007 American Idol Winner within the 2-hour time slot. Was the Bette Midler performance really necessary, especially since she was a last-minute fill in for the unnamed star who walked out? Shouldn't more time have been spent with Blake and Jordin, and especially at the end with Jordin? My local news cut into Jordin's big song at the end ... she didn't even get to sing her entire song. Very strange indeed. Also, I read this morning that the 2007 Idol Finale ratings were 19% under 2006. And heard this morning that the producers are now saying they will go back to the original formula by taking the focus off of the celebrity mentors and putting it back on the Idol contestants. Duh!
  21. I've never stopped to consider what the non-AI artists must feel about all the Idol media attention and hoopla for the past five years ... but that's a very interesting point. So many people hate the Idol connection and fear it is a stamp of cheese on one's career, but it has been anything but ... it's been the gold ticket.
  22. Lucky for me I had no idea there was any mess ... so it not only didn't overshadow anything for me, it doesn't exist. Guess there is something to be said for ignorance being bliss!!!
  23. Clay's got something for everyone, CG. I joined the fandom for life because of those two minutes last year. Tomorrow is my anniversary ... and I'll celebrate with Climmel tomorrow night! Everything about him last May 24th amazed, beguiled and enchanted me. From the moment I knew it was him (which wasn't immediately) my heart was racing. All I wanted was for the cameras not to leave him for a second because every angle was gorgeous and powerful. The first wicked smile and the casting of his eyes, the voice that went to my bones and made me gasp, the finger waggle, the dark sexy hair, the sultry eyes, the perfect suit and tie, the posture, the smile, the charm, the walk, the boots, the lighting, the click of his heels, the handshakes, all three of them, the boots, and that smile again .... his taking ownership of a cheap Golden Idol comedy bit by transforming it into something joyous and exhilerating. Truly a transcendental experience for me. I still go there often. ETA: Did I mention the boots?
  24. Listening again to Clive, he talks about Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson, the songwriters who right from the beginning wrote #1 hits for Clay Aiken through Since U Been Gone and Breakaway for Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia on Broadway, the certification for Carrie selling 6 million, and what a grand job the judges do for the American Idol Album Franchise. Taylor and Kat were given an interesting "they can still do better" moment. Ruben wasn't mentioned at all. I was prepared to like the show, but it let me down all the way through. I thought Taylor sucked big time. Ruben was uninspired and seemed to struggle at times. So much of the night I was working hard to help these singers hit their high notes. Didn't make it with Midler. Tony Bennett is a national treasure so he gets a pass and he's also mucho cool. Gladys and Smoky fared much better and the medleys worked. Not so with Sgt. Pepper. That was awful except for Carrie doing a nice version of She's Leaving Home. Taylor should be whipped for even attempting A Day in the Life, and Ruben doing Lucy in the Sky was criminal. OK, OK, I know I'm being harsh but I'm picky about my Beatles. I thought at the very least Sir Paul would end it with When I'm Sixty-Four ... this is the year ... but NOOOO, just over with a whimper. And Sanjaya? I can't even discuss that. So there I am prepared to enjoy the show and be entertained, and there was only one moment in the show for me. Green Day blew me away with Workingclass Hero. That was excellent. The night was screaming for Clay in my opinion. Taylor walked out unannounced and no one seemed to care; there was little or no audience reaction. If Clay had walked out and sang he would have burned the place down. But I understand Idol's dilemma, they couldn't have Clay stealing three out of their six finales, and certainly not two in a row!
