  1. I've actually thought about this a lot...and I honestly think he'll never stop saying that. Why? You know, one of the reasons I can come up with is something that he and Diane Sawyer alluded to in 2003. I think he gets a real kick out of standing up for all the nerds/geeks/uncool kids of the world. The fans certainly do not see him in that way -- many of us certainly see the sexy (although I do have to admit that I know fans of Clay's who do not, they just really enjoy the man and his music). But I think he does still, for whatever reason -- and enjoys holding that banner up to the world, knowing that there are more than a few people in the world who can identify with him and his "uncoolness." In a way, he's proud of who he is, and I don't think there's any changing that, at least for a long while. Also, I think he wants the media to think about that bias of theirs regarding "coolness." Will he be successful? Oh hell no, unfortunately. But I think he likes trying! Indiana Jones was a blast, but then I'm biased -- I've loved every single one of the IJ movies. They are the perfect summer movies to me, and I need to see the new one again soon! Everyone with family activities -- have a great time! ...that part I bolded...you may be right ldyj. I also think there is a part of Clay, the geek, the picked-on kid, who will always be there, just below the surface. Just like someone who looses 100lbs of weight still thinks of themselves as fat. Doesn't matter what the mirror shows. That person is always with you. I'm going to see IJ tomorrow I hope. Now I'm more excited (yes, I am still a little kid inside)
  2. Welcome Tijala! I like your name and your post. Bottlecap has been my FCA greeter. It wasn't until ATDW and some radio play that we found out we live just a hop skip and a jump from one another. I remember meeting for the first time at an Applebee's and talking Clay and drinking diet coke. I think we ate something too. Then we did some more talking and more drinking and more talking...you get the idea. I was waiting for them to kick our sorry butts out of there. Luckily we tip well. Since then we've shared a few more meals. In and out of the car on the way to Kalamazoo and Cleveland and Columbus and Sterling Hts. We shared a really nice meal sitting in a fancy French restaurant in New York City...Juniors too. YSRN was there for those meals as well. We were all roomies. :F_05BL17blowkiss: We ate back in our room after hitting the Whole Foods in Columbus Circle. (why couldn't it have been the Whole Foods Clay and the 'woman with an accent' shopped at?! *sniff*) ...and the Dean & Deluca's next to the Today show stage in Rockefeller Center was pretty sweet too. I am looking forward to sharing the next meal, whenever and wherever it may be. (alright, after bottle's last post I guess I'll leave the tip next time)
  3. Didn't watch except for the last 5 minutes, so I guess that doesn't count. LOL Sorry, annabear...I misread your post about the Photoshop program, and I am no help.
  4. Lovely bird, the African swallow. Ah, but they're non-mi-grate-ary! from Notacanuck at the CH... Another Podcast AP on Broadway: Clay Aiken Nice piece. It plays several of OMWH cuts in the background. He sounds really engaged. He talks a lot about AC radio and radio play. He says, 'Success is not about being famous or being rich. It's about being happy.'
  5. Speaking of missing Hannah.... *Fun speculation here* I wonder if he'll be back in NY for her departure from Spam on June 15th? I'm betting he'll be there. I hope he gets to, if he wants to, anyhow. And as far at the lunchtime pics, they were dated the 15th, but they could have been taken the day before, or he could have just flown in that morning. I don't think Clay was in the theater on the evening of the 14th, but I wouldn't call the poster was liar either. At this point in his career, he could be traveling here and there daily and we wouldn't know about it unless he used a commercial airlines, and perhaps right now he is traveling privately. Just like that lunch sighting yesterday, since his run at Spamalot ended, he could be anywhere on any given day. *checks under bed* Nope. Not here. *sigh*
  6. Yah, unfortunately I thought the same thing. Impossible. The good news? She wasn't just this close to seeing him there! Well, truly, not impossible. Just like Kimmel was in NY on R&K in the morning and in LA that night. I think Clay was on Good Day LA the morning of the 14th and Kimmel Friday night, but he could have gone back and forth in between without much fuss. Hee, maybe he and Jimmy shared a jet.
  7. ausdon, from one who just received her QVC shipment yesterday, (and I'm in the same country) I feel for you. dummie, nice to meet you! Glad you came out of As for the Clay sighting, he was spotted at one of the busiest, most popular restaurants in Burbank. It sits on the first floor of the Warner Record Building. The lobby floor of that building is the far corner of the Warner Bros. lot. Disney is right there, as is Disney Channel, ABC and NBC. Touchstone is on the Disney lot now as well. A bunch of small production companies are within walking distance of the place. He was there in the middle of the day and happily chatted with a lady at a table nearby when he had the chance. I'm going to imagine that he knew how enthusiastic crazy his fans might be after seeing the HDD numbers and decided to give us something fun to speculate about for awhile. He's such a good bf. :F_05BL17blowkiss:
  8. I can understand being disappointed in the numbers, hell, I am, but I also agree that I won't give up on this CD until Clay says it's time to move on. He's the man with his name on the CD cover and his name on the concert tickets. I imagine he either expected this or is sitting someplace right now deciding what to do next. All I can do is support in the best way I can....which is something else I intend to keep doing until he tells me otherwise.
  9. Exactly! I am wishing for a Gavin DeGeaw kind of life for OMWH. Would I like the moon and all the stars and 200K in sales for Clay Aiken this week? Yeah, I would, but I will be happy for legs. Just give me legs this time. I think since it looks like he's planning a second round of promotion, he's wanting that too. *chants along with claygasm* 'I think it can! I think it can!

She was in short supply of cash.
  11. keepingfaith, I am so impressed with you knowledge. I came from a family where my father didn't vote...ever. As a teenager someone offered him money to vote for their candidate, and that was that. I sometimes wonder if he had been alive when my son first ran for office if he would have changed his mind. I don't know. My son is the one who decided to become a 'public servant' (his words, not mine) and I have been trying to catch up ever since. Clazorback wrote: We are making history this year, no matter who steps out as the winner of the race, or as the new President. How we vote, and who we vote is already in the history books. Passion is good, but at the end of the day, if the Democrats win, we're all going to have to pull together to make this presidency work. If we can't, then we're dooming whichever one takes office to running the country with one hand tied behind their back. I don't think either Hillary or Barack would be content in the second position. Now I had a bunch more to say that I just deleted, because I have to think. So, I will be back later. ETA...play wrote: Let me just say IIIIICCCCKK with you on that
  12. ummm, not that I know crap, or understand half of that, but I posted a hello in that political thread. I'm all for discussing stuff if anyone else feels like it. (damnit Clay! see what you've brought us to by taking the summer off!?!?! You better be enjoying that backyard of yours! LOL )
  13. So, since this isn't much of a main thread topic, I'll just wander in here and state that if anyone feels like waxing political, I'm up for a chat. I have a medium amount of knowledge and a whole lot of opinion and don't mind discussing issues. I'm a Dem, as is my immediate family, but I have had elected officials in the Rep. party in my extended family, uncles, cousins, etc. My son has been an elected official for the last 13-14 years, I can't remember exactly. He is a delegate to the Democratic convention supporting Obama, and a member of the Electoral College. (He says he will wear his powered wig) He is 6 years older than Clay. My husband is an elected official (local) as well as is my DiL. (state) My daughter was a precinct judge for several years. I mostly stuff envelopes and make those annoying phone calls.
  14. It's not bad, but he's no Clay Aiken, (my kid would kill me for this)
  15. Bookwhore...this just made me laugh, really loud... (I want the bumper sticker) I talk politics all the time. Actually I probably live and breathe it more than most. It's in the family...which is probably why I am so mellow about all the factions of the Clay fandom. Politics and Clay Aiken, not so different. Politics is the process by which groups of people make decisions on who gets what. Clay fans make decision on who wants to get what and what they want to do with that thing when they get it.
  16. JNaT06 = Joyful Noise (Not a) Tour, Christmas 06. It was the tour that really wasn't. Clay started out by stepping in for someone (I can't remember who right now) who had to cancel several of her shows and then he built the rest of the tour around those dates. hee. visual aids, click 'em I happen to love JNaT06 hair myself. I think Clay wore it well, and actually, other than the color and the bulk of the hair, the front/bangs are similar to what they are now. SRHP = Soft Rock (and a) Hard Place Tour. Last summer's tour. That's what Clay called it when he blogged while sitting watching the ocean in Mexico. I don't think Clay likes the bangs in his face. I know he's mentioned it in a couple interviews, but for the life of me, I can't remember where now. (sorry) As of last summer he was still wearing the bangs on stage, but in his down time, combed them off his face. Now his hair, I think is more comfortable for him. I mean he seems to be wearing it closer to the same style on and off the stage. Because of that, I think this new style suits him.
  17. Sorry bottlecap, I've been holding out on you too. (I swear, I wasn't keeping this for myself, no I wasn't. oops...)
  18. I hope you guys will forgive me, because I've had limited time lately to read through everything. I just wanted to comment on what Ansa said here. Starting back with ATDW I've emailed a bit with my local AC station's PD. He's a nice guy. Been willing to play Clay, and was never negative about any and all questions or requests...but what I did learn over time is that AC does move at it's own pace...and that is slow. With OMWH I waited a week, didn't hear anything on the radio, (I listen to and from work usually) and decided this last Tues. to send a request. The reply simply stated that he hadn't even had a chance to listen to it yet, but he would. This station has Clay on it's homepage with the On Demand CD to play. The one day, Thurs. I wasn't tuned in, the morning DJs played OMWH as this weeks 'Smash or Trash.' I was pretty happy to hear it got all 'smash' comments from the listening audience. I emailed him yesterday to say, I didn't know if he was responsible for the play, but that it was nice. He came back with 'it was the DJs choice', but he'd be glad to take credit. That told me, #1. the DJs were already listening and interested in this album, and #2 the PD seemed happy about that fact. I think it will take awhile to build. Probably about the time Clay is ready for the second round of promotion, this album will be on everyone's radar. I think we're going to have to be something we have never been very good at this time around...patient. ooohh...CG, I think so too...
  19. I swear, I never seem to know what's going on anymore. Busy stinks. ...but this much I can figure out... Happy Birthday Solo! :2164: (((Couchie))) Clay...? Waiting to see what Clay cooks up with Rachel today (see, a pun. get, it?...ok, now I'll shut up )
  20. Well, of course, radio listeners in northwestern Ohio have EXCELLENT taste. Waves to laughn. That radio info was originally posted by maidenfreckledpaleface at the CB. Make a note of that bottle. That makes three of us. Maybe we can find her. ...and I wanted to take a moment to personally thank play for all the Pepsi she drank. I have a feeling she endured a lot of bathroom breaks in order to get Clay to the #1 online downloaded album spot. :F_05BL17blowkiss: As Long As We're Here... I will just copy over my comments from the listening party... ...and add one interesting tid-bit. Just a few minutes ago I dropped off the CD to my son. I thought it would be fun to see if he could figure out my favorite cut on the album. My DiL said, 'I wonder if it's #9? Almost every CD I have ever owned my favorite song has been the #9 track." I kept a straight face and said I wouldn't tell, but that had me scratching my head. lol.
  21. Awww. I'm sure she loved you too. Spike. Spike is my classroom guinea pig. He has long hair that sticks out every which way. He is so very old. Over 7 years now. He can no longer see or hear...at least not very well, but he can tell when I enter the building, I imagine by smell, and he starts calling to me. I don't hold him much anymore, because he is so old, I'm afraid to hurt him, but I pet him every chance I get. I love this little guy. I know living in a cage is not the way nature intended, but I also know he is loved and if he lived in another part of the world, he might have ended up on someone's dinner plate. Sabrina did have a friend. It just happened to be a two legged kind.
