  1. Hmmmmmmmmmm..............from CH (notacanuck)

Tyra is shooting ANTM auditions at the Westin in Atlanta today. About a mile away from The Varsity.

    Kewl.

I think ldyj said she was looking for a digital SLR though....the Power Shot is not an SLR.

Do ya know that when I took photography in University, there was no such thing as digital cameras. Just sayin'. I feel old.

    Well, aren't I the "bring-it-over fool" today?

Hey, look who's telling me!! :cryingwlaughter:

  2. Nickikiwi bought a Canon S5. Took great SD pix. I have an S3. Kinda battered. Gonna upgrade before the gala and set it up for Justclay or whomever to snap pix, lol.

Whoah dude.... ISO 3200??? Man...could shoot in the dark with this baby! Powershot SX20

Have you been looking FromClaygary? Whatcha like about the Rebels over the Power Shots?

Oh, I'm always looking  .......I love cameras, what can I say! But that is SO not in my budget right now!

I think ldyj said she was looking for a digital SLR though....the Power Shot is not an SLR.

One of my dreams has been to be able to own a digital SLR. Maybe I'll win the lottery that I don't buy tickets for! :)

I don't think this has been posted here.....

Clackhouse Aiken Shield pin fundraiser for CU...order now!

  3. Anyone got a good recommendation on a digital SLR camera? My husband and I are either looking at a Canon or a Nikon (I can't remember the model numbers at the moment).

Consumer Reports main article in the magazine this month is on digital cameras....it might be on the website as well. I think they normally do a great job of reporting on and advising on stuff like this.

Having said that.....Canon EOS Rebel would be my first choice (there are several models).

  4. Thanks for the link!! I like R&B and don't mind that, but it's pretty generic "lost in the list" type stuff. BUT....I haven't seen Trenyce for a long, long time and spent the whole time with my eyes falling out! She has grown up good! She looks awesome with the new (to me) short hair and classy clothes. I thought she did herself in somewhat on Idol cuz she just couldn't seem to get her look right. But she looks great in that video!

    Twitter from last night:

    A tweeter from Atlanta:

Just had an absolutely amazing dinner date at Canoe w/ @sydneyaronatl. Clay Aiken showed up on a "man date" and was seated next to us. Lol

 I LOVE that Clay is able to do this now....but I  a little, because it now feels as though any random dinner out with a friend or whoever might become a man-date.

ETA: the boy sure does get around though! (ie, travels a lot in case that might be misinterpreted...)

  5. If there is still room, I'd love to attend also. My daughter and kcudawg are traveling with me so we would be a group of 3.

:hello:ClayizzaQT! I think we'll be OK....if everyone comes, there will not be seating in the private area for everyone...but I don't really think it will be that big a deal, as the main restaurant will be available also, and we can certainly wander back and forth. I'll add you to the list, it'll be good to see you all!

  6. :hello::cryingwlaughter: Yes, just got home around 10:30 PM and trying to do a quick catch up as when I tried to access anything Clay from the hotel internet, it was marked as "unsuitable" and immediately closed down :hysterical: .....so I'm so far behind!

Thank you SO much everyone for the birthday wishes! I had the most awesome birthday EVER! Spent it in Boston's Little Italy, partying with mmmm.....about 150, 000 of my closest friends.

But the BEST part......Facebook helped me raise $250 for the Inclusion Project from the best folks anywhere in the world....many of whom live right here. :flirtysmile3:

You have NO idea how much that meant to me. Thanks everyone!! :twinklewhore:

...and now off to bed, as I have an interview tomorrow morning early....wouldntcha know??

Maybe they like red-eyed groggy people. :)

  7. ....and on that note, jmh123.....:)

Just a reminder that we are planning a Post-Gala breakfast at Tyr na nOg restaurant, which is about 4 blocks away from the Sheraton and the Marriott, on Sunday Oct 18th at 10 AM. Details are HERE and we would love to see you there! Please post in the linked thread or PM me and I will gladly add you to the list.

And now that everyone pretty much knows for sure if they will be attending.....or not.... :thbighug-1: .............

Could I ask you PLEASE to advise me ONLY IF YOU ARE SIGNED UP AND ARE NOW NOT ATTENDING.

If we are going to be seeing you there......:dancingpickle: no need to update.

    I can hardly wait!! :welcome::yahoo::whee:

  8. Just a quick update.....and a note that I appreciate the accumulated wisdom and support here SO much!! :thbighug-1:

I have now received most of my severance dollars....lost 40% of it to income tax! :( Still waiting for expense reimbursement and a ROE and a disposition letter for my RSP (retirement savings plan, in Canada=pension) but that will come, as will winter....

I'm pleased so far with my success with resumes....I've sent 17 resumes for things I thought were apt, including some part-time stuff to tide me over. I've received 4 calls for interviews, and I'm now in the third-interview process for a part-time position I'm very interested in...and second-interview for a part-time position I'm interested in if #1 doesn't work out  .....and got another call today to come in for an interview for a fulltime position at a decent salary.

So I'm encouraged! At least I know my resumes are working, and that people do have an appreciation for my skillset. It's a good start.

Couchie, jmh123 and others looking....persevere!! I have my fingers and toes and all appendages crossed for you!!

  9. From downtown to the airport should take less than half an hour. RDU is one of those airports where you need to allow plenty of time to get through security, so factor that in as well. It's a great "little" airport to hang out in, BTW, with a great little used bookstore and A Southern Season to shop in. ("Little" in comparison to Charlotte, for example, which is like a mall, or big city airports like Detroit or Atlanta.)

I'll be glad to give you a ride from the breakfast to the airport, and I have room for two others as well.

I'll second that! The "great little airport to hang out in" part :) ....lots of great little shops (LOVE that used bookstore...) and good munchies.

I think we can probably hang at the breakfast as long as we want to...so if you need to get away, I'd say count on an hour and a half...it's buffet style, so service shouldn't really be an issue.
