  1. They wouldn't have been available from about Sept 15th last year to that date this year...apples are a fall fruit. :) Should be soon though, I'm betting they'll be later this year because of the lack of warm weather.

Hee, I do know that, I meant in the last year....the year before (when we went to Vegas) the honeycrisps were to die for.

Ahh, gotcha! I completely misunderstood.

It always amazes me (being a BC girl originally) when people don't seem to understand that fruit is seasonal....other than from Cali, all fruit is not available all year round! Grab it while it's in season! :)

I guess it comes from "stuff" (I won't call it fruit, cuz out of season IMO it's yucky junk) being in the grocery stores all the time, so people just don't always realize that that pear on the grocery shelf in November has been in someone's cold storage for almost 6 months....and therefore what it might taste like.

Or....could be I'm the only one who cares! :hysterical:

That's one of the things I LOVE about Ontario...the availability of fresh fruit...I missed it SO bad on the prairies where nothing grows except wheat!

    OK....back to topic

Thanks for the K-na message, gmb! I'm thrilled that's being disseminated...I know she would have loved that she is still helping.

  2. I GOT MY JOB!!!! :twinklewhore::twinklewhore:

    The 4th interview one!! :cryingwlaughter:

The very first one I sent a resume to....it just took this long, can you believe it??

I'm familiar with the company from being a customer....and I've liked the sounds of things all the way along. This is the one I really wanted...although I did receive another offer yesterday as well...which I regretfully (to them) and with my fingers crossed behind my back, turned down. Thank goodness!

    :twinklewhore::twinklewhore::twinklewhore::twinklewhore:

Thanks SO much to everyone for all the encouragement! Keep sending those resumes as they happen! :thbighug-1:

ETA: I am SOOOOO going to enjoy this weekend! :)

  3. ETA: For our Honeycrisp lovers here, I thought y'all might be interested in this. New apple intended to rival the Honeycrisp.

OOh! Thank you! We're close enough to the growing area that I hope we see some of those. :)

Hmmm, interesting article. I have not found many good honey crisps here in the past year at all.

  4. Now, if we could just get Clay to take off his shirt I could die happy.

We could be buried together. :) It would be cheaper that way.

Here's a good example of Clay's natural curls. This is either post-shower, or post fluffing it out good after removing the wig. (I vote for the former myself. Although he's still got his makeup on, so maybe not.) Compare with the banner. Flat, flat, flat. I totally agree with you about natural Clay and the flat ironing. Why in the world would anyone mess with those curls??

Hee...because we always want what we ain't got? I only gave up on "curls" about 6 years ago.

  5. Yesterday's photo tourney...well, it was a nail biter. Too much of a one, actually, as I ended up flipping a coin to determine the winner! My apologies to those who voted for the other picture...but here is the winner...

    UMM.jpg

Here is today's photo tourney poll. We're down to four pictures...happy voting!

Eeeee! My favourite!! LOOK at those eyes! ....little bitta scruff....great hair! I LOVE the spiky 'do that way...just looking "mussed". Yum.

Lotus...I'm withya! Not a fan of the muscle boys...my experience has been that they're a little too focused on the six pack and not enough focused on anything else but...but perhaps Reed is an exception, cuz I can't see boyfriend liking that.

ETA: I'd bet that's real close to his natural colour, too....

  6. Being ornary just because I worked straight through for 6 1/2 hours with no lunch or break, I don't think his hair was red at the Gala in 08. I was there and had a group picture taken with him. It looked light brown to me. My avi is from the Gala but the lights make it look different.

here is one where I was a couple of feet from him when he came over to hug spooky

Hey, if it gets us pictures like that........looks fuschia to me!! :flirtysmile3:

Got any more pictures to prove otherwise? :whistling-1:

  7. Scarlett.... thanks so much for sharing the info. I really appreciate it.

FromClaygary--I'm so proud of you..sorry I haven't checked in before now to say it. You inspired me to take a look at my resume... it's really dated since I've been basically using the same format for 15 years. I've tried to personalized my letters a bit more to the job rather htan copying and pasting the same old same old. And every now and then I'll do somehting whacky to get somebody's attention heee.

Couchie :thbighug-1: thanks!! What a nice thing to say! Resumes have definitely changed over the last few years...so far I'm having the most success with a skills-based resume format.

Thank you Scarlett! I look forward to checking out those links.

I've been working on my resume too. I went to a job workshop and we were supposed to have our resumes critiqued by an expert. Unfortunately she totally bummed me out by offering no critique whatsoever, and saying that I was unemployable outside my field, but I still got some good ideas from the workshop. I'm trying to work on a resume that highlights all the skills involved in college teaching in language that is more in line with the job market, things like instructional design, public speaking, etc.. It's tricky because it's such a hybrid of different approaches to a resume, and I still haven't come up with something I think is really good.

What a completely ridiculous, untrue and unhelpful statement to make at a job workshop! THAT's the kind of expert you need!...or not! :(

Well, I'm now headed for a 4th interview Wednesday for the job I completed a 3rd interview for... :hysterical:. Good news is, they've bumped me up a job level, so the position I'm 4th interviewing for is a supervisory one with more money and more hours. With a guarantee of at least the lesser position if this one doesn't work out.

I've been made an offer by one company, but am trying to hold off a bit until the above falls one way or the other. If I lose it, I lose it. I've learned NOT to jump at the first opportunity.

The fulltime position did not work out; honestly, I think it was a teaser for a placement company, in retrospect.

Would it be of any interest for some of those looking, to have a little roundtable on resumes? I do have a fair bit of hiring/employment background, and would be glad to have a look at your resume and provide some feedback, if you would find that helpful. And I'd love to let someone have a look at mine and provide the same. :)

If you'd like to do this, PM me or post here, and we'll exchange

  8. I know exactly what is on his collar. When you have a shirt a VERY long time and it gets constantly washed there are little white things, called pills, that show up on the fabric! That's what they sell those stupid clothes shavers for!

I agree that it could be pilling, but why only on one side of the collar?

Because he normally carries his laptop bag on that side. :)

Or a small child rests his head there.

  9. Since that pic is on the tarmac does that mean it was a private plane, he was travelling in?

I believe that's the way they "load and unload" VIPs so they don't always have to trek through the terminal. Down the flyway stairs to the tarmac....to a waiting vehicle.

Doesn't mean it wasn't a private plane...but I don't think they'd load or fly a private plane that close to the main terminal.

ETA: if you look at some of "Bud's" other pictures, looks like he might be a limo driver. Tons of pics with celebrities of every type. Really interesting, and worth a look.

  10. That's just one facet of the man that makes him so dang fascinating. You never know what you are going to get with him from one second to the next.

Clay is like a box of chocolates? (with a pickle on the side)

    Thread title???? :cryingwlaughter:

    Second that!! Good one canfly!!

Clay is like a box of chocolates? (with a pickle on the side)

Would that be PTTL or PTTR?

    :hysterical:

LOVE!! the new picture! He looks wonderful in his (likely) natural hair colour and big grin!

Two things made me LOL.....if you look at the large size you can see the collar on his polo is all balled up from washing (spit-up out?), which just completely cracks me up. I think he's had that shirt since he was about 17. :hysterical: I know it well.

Also....see the guy in behind them, the airport wing-walker? (over Clay's right shoulder) In the larger pic, you can see he's totally doing the WTF??

Gotta run to Dr. appointment, but thanks so much for bringing that over bottlecap!!

  11. #1 is a fantastic Kareneh picture fo' sur'! It's the eyes... the eyes are g.o.r.g.e.o.u.s.

And, the compostion of the whole picture is just beautiful... the lighting, just everything. Makes it a work of art more than #2.

    Couldn't have said it better....gorgeous!!
