  1. We did just recently find a group of doctors that make house calls--that has really been a boon as my mother does not like to leave the house, and at her last doctor's visit, she caught a bad cold. Now we need to find a dentist who makes house calls. LOL.

Actually, you know....don't laugh! re the dentist making house calls. I KNOW that in the September CITGO Fan challenge on FB, which I read through every day to compile the numbers....was a charity which runs a mobile home, which is in fact a mobile dentist on wheels to provide this type of service to housebound people. I thought it was pretty neat and voted for them once or twice.

If there's one.....there's others. I would definitely do some research, if this would be beneficial for your Mom.

  2. I'm so sorry to hear the news... {{{Clay and family}}}

    That is lovely. :)

I spent about four hours today getting my nails, toes and hair done. Also in the salon was a lovely woman with her mother. Mother is 85 years old, has Alzheimers and is physically very fragile. It was her birthday. She was getting a new haircut, lunch out and a flu shot for her birthday. She was treated like a queen by the staff. Her daughter kept pulling a video camera out to record the events. Her daughter records every little thing about her mother now. She says her mother pops up with spontaneous comments that she is so happy to have on tape. Evidently her mother is living in a home but the daughter goes over every day to visit and tuck her mother in at night because she knows her mother's time is short now. She said every moment they have together is a blessing.

    What a very cool idea!

I thought the Durham FB page was adorable but felt like a voyeur when they changed it as it wasn't meant for me to see. I always wished for Clay the privacy he obviously desires. It's probably because I am like that in real life about some things. I'm not criticizing anyone as it is a personal issue. I'm sure it's just me. I am not ready for the Gala to be here so soon. I can't decide whether to get a room neaarby or to drive back and forth Friday night, Saturday morning and Sunday morning. Did I forget to mention I'm a cheapskate?

Fear, you might want to check around a little with the usual suspects. I think it's very likely someone may have room for you in theirs. That's a long drive back and forth. PM Preden possibly, or ldyj or...luckiest1? not sure how you guys are?

    HAPPY THANKSGIVING CANADA!
  3. You can get into the OFC from Papa's page. At the tribute page, right click on "terms of service" at the bottom and open a new tab. You can then click on Fan HQ for the blog pages or the Message Board link. There are currently 115 fans on the blog side.

I'm not quite sure why we'd WANT to do that when the intention was clearly to close the site in honor of Clay's Papa? Surely we can honor that wish for this short time.

  4. This year they have a free three strand bracelet with a $15. purchase.

For purchase there are jewelry bags, note cards, cds of African women's songs and lots of beads very reasonably priced. Earrings too! Prices are between $10 and $20.

Very cool! Really looking forward to it! I wouldn't be surprised my son, who loves world music, would enjoy that CD.

  5. LOVE the banner!! Loved the contest, it was great fun, and thanks so much to ldyj and all those involved. My favoritest-ever  got knocked out a few days ago...but I love anything which pictures Clay with the possible exception of the Jenna Bush pic which will haunt him forever.

    8 days.

    Yikes!!

...and now....the moment you've all been waiting for....:)

We are still #1 at the Christie Cookie contest with about 700 votes up on our nearest rival. That could melt away fast when a lot of people head off to the Gala and are unable to vote while they travel....so PLEASE continue to vote. If you have emails you have not used, or can create additional ones to use, PLEASE VOTE. If you have friends you have not asked to vote ALL their emails....PLEASE ASK. This means $10,000 for the Project's programs in 2010.

We are #5 today on the Daily portion of America's Giving Challenge :( You DO NOT need to be a Facebook member to "vote and donate" on this challenge. Remember that the amount of your donation is not the decider....the NUMBER of donations is. Minimum donation is $10, to place a vote. This is just such a hugely beneficial return on a $10 daily or every-couple of days investment in this contest...$1000 for every day we win, and $50,000 for an overall win.

    We won Day 1

We are #1 in the overall by only 7 votes, which could disappear quickly if a rival power votes.

Please help if you are able to do so! :)

  6. :rainbowsmile::clap::snoopy: :04:

    WE WON!!!

America's first Giving Challenge winner.....the National Inclusion Project!!

So 94 donations totalling $2,028....became $3,028 thanks to the Challenge! That's a great return on the investment.

If we could even win this one every few days...it would give us a great chance at the $50,000!

As a side note....someone donated $1000 today! My feeling is, that $1000 would likely not have come...if it wasn't for these challenges happening. They are SO good for the Project!

    Good work, everyone!!

  7. Pants are good...Clay noticing no pants could be better...Jerome noticing no pants could be trouble!

Fun spoiler!....but a good point, nonetheless!

For those inclined and who are able.....we could use some more "donation votes" for the National Inclusion Project HERE at America's Giving Challenge. We are #1 to win $1000 for the Project today, but are only ONE VOTE AHEAD of our nearest competitor "Angel Covers". You can "vote" for as little as a $10 donation, once a day. A $10 donation could mean $1000 for the Project. :)

ETA: "Angel Covers" just pulled even with us.....:(

  8. October 5 has been called the most common birthday based on a survey done a few years ago. It is also nine months after New Year's Eve.

    :hysterical:

    From toni7babe at CV:

I see Clay has a new picture as his profile pic on his personal facebook. :hysterical:

    Here it is:

    haha!!

It's the Way/Solitare single CD pic AGED!!

It's from this Worth100 photoshop contest from about 5 years ago. They used the "President Aiken" photoshop on the second page as a backstage pass for the JBT in 2005, didn't they?

I love the pics he chooses! But, in all seriousness...if this IS what he looked like....still a very good looking man!!

  9. OMIGOSH!! I was working and missed goldarngirl's birthday?? :cry4:

    I'm so sorry!! :(

Happy belated Birthday to my travelling buddy, IM companion and one of my bestest friends....thanks so much for everything you do!!

    and THIS.......
