  1. Thank you for your input on this problem, Ansamcw. It is making me nuts! And sad.
  2. So here's my problem. I have 3 grown children, all single, ages 34, 28 and 27. The oldest two live within 10 miles of home, the youngest is in Philadelphia. She moved there back in 2002 to go to med school, having gotten her 4yr degree an hour from home. We understand how intense med school can be and we left her alone, (she begrudgingly let us) visit her once a year and she came home at Christmas. She graduated this past June and is now doing her internship. She remains in Philly, she loves the area and has a boyfriend we all adore there. I know the Internship phase is just as intense, if not more so, then anything else she has done....but....she was not able to make it home for Christmas this year and we want to go out and see her in April. Not take up huge chunks of her time...just have dinner with her and the b/friend. This evening I sent her a text saying we were coming out in April and received one back saying that would not be a good time for her and she appreciates our understanding. But I don't understand. We don't call her, unless we haven't heard from her in a month. We text maybe once a month. I don't know how to tell her...or if I should tell her, how hurt I am that we can't just come and take her to dinner. Personally if it were up to me, we would be going out and taking her to dinner every other month! But we don't. Once in her 2nd year of med school we called to say we were coming out to take her to dinner (she was leaving as soon as school was out to spend 6 weeks in Ecuador) and she thought it was the most ridiculous thing she had ever heard said, "That's an awful long way to come.....just for dinner!" Like we were nuts or something. She has always been an overly independent spirit. And the thing that really irks me...she spent the evening having dinner with his family. Granted it was his belated b-day celebration....but it just made me feel worse. Luckily we have met his family and they are terrific people....so that makes me real happy. I'm wandering....sorry. Any suggestions from anyone on how I should handle this? Abide by her wishes and get over myself? Let her know I'm hurt and would like more contact? I seriously don't know what to make of this whole Internship phase.....like this month.....she is working Monday through Friday and is off on the weekends. Before this rotation she was working 12-14 hour days, 18 days in a row. I guess she doesn't know to far in advance what she will be working next.... Has anyone here gone through a similar thing and how did you handle it?
  3. Annabear...he is going to be sooo cute! Can't wait to see the finished Knight!
  4. see bolded I think part of the problem was that not only did these people speak confidently...but so many of them work in or around the business...of numbers, music, publicist, writers, singers, etc. and the rest of us were grasping at straws and took to heart what they had to say. Now we know enough to take it with yet another grain of salt and hope for the best. The only sure thing seems to be that there is another CD coming! YAY!! Wishing you the Happiest of Birthdays, Luckiest1!!
  5. While it really makes no difference now, I do want to apologize for removing my post last night, as soon as I hit reply, I went back and deleted, thinking no one had seen it. This morning when I got up and saw JJ's various responses, I felt bad, that she may have taken what I said as a slam at her and that I hadn't left it so everyone else could know what my response had been. Soooooo, for what it is worth, I have reposted the basics of what I said, as well as I can remember. Again, I am sorry that I added to the confusion. {{Jumpingjacks}}
  6. .................................... Never mind...back to being invisible. ............................................. Oh my, I thought I had deleted my post before it could be commented upon. I no more than hit the reply button, when I realized that no one really cares what I have to say, so why bother. So while I don’t remember exactly what my post said….here is the gist of it… I commented that I was glad that they were able to attended multiple shows, that at least they were paying their own way, unlike some loud obnoxious fans who steal seats, abuse friendships and use and abuse whoever they ‘need’ at the moment. That they at least provide clack for those of us unable to attend, while the other type of fans scream , shout out and often ruin clack. I also said that getting to the front of the SD or any group isn’t that hard if you are observant, quick and willing to slip into any ole opening and make it your own. Being short, I know this can make it even easier. Had I known it had in fact been read…just that quickly, I would not have removed it. Sorry.
  7. Holy crap....I'm eighteen again, as I hear that softly whispered in my ear.....
  8. Am I the only one hoping for the movie, Spamalot ...the Musical ? Featuring Clay Aiken as Sir Robin?
  9. Ahhhh, the Interlochen JBT.... This was obviously a very hostile group.... My girlfriend had flown up from Georgia, she'd just the night before, said her good-byes to her son who had left for Iraq and this was her big get away. I was lucky enough to get us 4th row center through the fan club pre-sale. We were so pumped and excited! Don't ya know...just a few songs in, we are standing with the rest of the people around us, when the lady behind my friend ( local season ticket holder) stood up and smacked my girlfriend and told her to "Set down!" Robin was mortified and did as she was told......until Clay announced that he wanted to see people up and having a good time! She finally felt comfortable enough to stand again. {{{{{Keldanker}}}}}
  10. Pretty pin in the mail today! Thank you! :F_05BL17blowkiss:
  11. His use of we and us doesn't even register with me half the time. But then I am the same person who worked alone for 18 years and when work was dropped off for me to do I would fill out the form and reply, "We should have this ready for you tomorrow" Something needed fixing and I hadn't gotten to it yet? "Hopefully, WE can get to it tomorrow." Sometimes I would catch myself saying it and crack up.....in my case it was like I was looking for someone to blame incase I didn't get the job done. So yeah....when he uses it, just seems natural to me. 'Cause ya know he really does have a whole back up support system doing who knows what for and with and even TO him.
  12. EEEEEeeee what a great way to start a day! Have watched both clips already this a.m. They may be short...but he sure squeezed a lot of cute in...really fast!
  13. All right........ somebody owes me at least five more minutes of Mr. Clay Aiken...without the yappers havin' at it! I can't believe....5 minutes is all we got of the blond god. Geesh. That being said.....O.M.G! He was so frickin' cute and funny and charming and charismatic and hot and lovable and tall and smart and witty and sweet and animated and thudly and well perserved...for his advanced age. I can go to work happy! (Hoping we get more then a wham, bam, thank you ma'am, with the Mike and Juliet gig. Quickies only last so long, ya know.)
  14. Awwwww....that's just not fun. Will cross all fingers and toes with hopes we don't get the three inchesl I am so glad I only have to drive 6 miles. For 18 years I drove 2 blocks....so for me, I am commuting.
  15. I agree Kim. Now if I wasn't in her concert area and was just watching this all from afar....I would think it was just the sweetest friendship. But I am in her concert area...and I dislike the interruption from the same person...over and over and over. It is much more fun to see it mixed up and shared among all the fans. And actually....I was also an E fan, until she started showing up at concerts with dayglo shirts stating, "Yes, I am E" Talk about drawing attention to youself. YMMV ETA...LOL I forgot why I even came here. My deep thought for today. (good to get it out of the way early) Would you want to be the next person to lay Sir Robin?!! ETA!!!! I meant PLAY.....to play Sir Robin! Oh good lord.... :29:
  16. Awwww...but where is that cute little lip freckle. Has it faded with time? Or perhaps it is lost in the big make-up cover up.
  17. Fine...no prize for me... But yay! 3 minutes until the Spam opening!!!
  18. Oooh. let me guess! Because we can? is there a prize?
  19. Annabear and Duckyvee......you guys gotta chill! Otherwise you're gonna get half way though the evening and crash and burn. Like a well intentioned drunk groom...you'll be left wondering what you missed. Oh....we'll tell ya all about it....but it just won't be the same. Oh geesh...add Jamar to that list!
  20. gb....we didn't think this through so well...we are just....6 miles from each other? we should have gotten together to sqeee and eeeee and peeee.... from Row EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.... of course. As it is...I now have a hubby home from work early...poor baby (big eye roll) has a cold. Drat! Oooh and now I get to go buy food! Yay? Catch ya all later. ETA..Extra EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Lookie...I'm on top! Just like Clay?.....Robin?......Whatever...it feels goooood.
  21. 00lsee and ldyj....I am also sad to be missing this. After missing JNT'06, I swore I would never miss another chance to see at least one performance of what ever he is doing. I even have my ticket....all bought and paid for, 2nd row, April 18th. But hubby commented on the adventure, before things were firmed up (thank goodness!) and he was not thrilled. And since I really do love him more than Clay...... I've given my ticket to a friend to sell. *sigh* This is going to be such a great adventure for Clay! What sucks even more, oldest child invited me along on her business trip to NYC.....last week! Why, oh why, couldn't it have been this week? Not only that, she is the Director of our local theater and this whole trip was about seeing agents, booking acts and attending possible shows for the next or future seasons. We could have seen Spamalot and her ticket would have been paid for. This year she saw Wicked, Legally Blond and Little Mermaid. I should have gone with her anyhow.....but I was pouting. I am a firm believer in cutting my nose off to spite my face!
  22. So....at Clay's request.....no pictures.... *whimper* ......no video.... * sob* Ummmmmm.... How about sketches? Ya know, like they do in court...where the camera's aren't allowed, so someone sets there and sketches the action for us. That could work....don't ya think? Pleeeeeeeeeease.............
  23. I just watched thwe WRAL interview with Quiana... Clay has assembled himself just the nicest family of friends.
  24. I am also drawn to the 'type' of music my parents listened to. Grew up with all the regular TV musical/variety shows, still miss them. My mom also enjoyed the music of the 60's, she was a huge Dave Clark 5 fan and now she enjoys Clay. They were a little more raw country music then I am, but we both enjoy lots of different stuff. (Later my kids introduced me to Vivaldi, Bach, Beethoven, etc Love it as well) One of my fondest memories is from when I was 5, my dad worked second shift at the Chevy plant and we would meet him on Friday nights at midnight and head up to Traverse City, from Flint, to visit family for the weekend. I loved those summer drives. 2 in the morning, windows down on the car, smelling all the night time smells, hot asphalt, fields and farmland, exhaust fumes, most of the houses dark, but every so often one would be lit and you would wonder what was going on in that house, that someone was still up. On the radio.....the Grand Ole Opry....fadin' in and out. Now THAT was some twang!! My favorite was a song, called Bingo....I think Bingo, bingo what cha gonna do-ie-o Bingo, bingo, where ya gonna go-ie-o Bingo, bingo does you momma know You're going down the road, to see a little girl-ie-o My mom still remembers the song, but for the life of us, we have no idea who sang it.
