  1. Can I ask a newbie question and risk pissing off some folks?

Why is it ok to call Clay a jerk?

Is that not disrespectful? Apparently not, so I am having trouble figuring out what the lines are here.

I know several of you came here to avoid what you felt was disrespect to Clay elsewhere so I am really confused.

I'm the farthest thing from a newbie here, and I have to admit I'm a little flummoxed by that myself.

I think I'd reserve words like jerk for PH or his ilk.

Personally ...jerk is too mild a term for him. I guess that may be the difference...i don;t have a very strong reaction to the word.

I don't know. Jerk seems pretty insulting to me.

  3. Jello pie recipe

1 sm package of any kind of jello

1/2 cup boiling water or other liquid

    Dissolve jello

Using a potato masher, quickly mash in 2 cups of slightly softened (but not melted) ice cream.

Pour into pie crust or over fruit or wherever.

OK, strawberry jello/ice cream poured over sliced strawberries in a graham cracker crust is PRIMO!

Lime jello dissolved in creme de menthe with mint ice cream--to die for--in chocolate crust.

And, here's exactly how I feel about all the fuss of the last few days.

  4. I think that both Clay and Kim could be right and they could both be wrong.

I have no way of knowing.

Sometimes people just hear what they want to hear and misunderstand.

Sometimes messages don't go through (I can attest to that since the messages on my phone didn't work for about 2 months even though people THOUGHT they left me messages, and half the time I don't get the messages my daughter leaves me on my cell phone).

Sometimes people forget to call or think they have called or just forget about calling.

Sometimes assistants who are supposed to take care of things don't.

Sometimes people are afraid to say no because they don't want to hurt someone's feelings.

Sometimes people suggest the answer is yes when it isn't.

Sometimes people send out clues to an answer but the receiver misses the clues.

Sometimes friends get upset with each other.

  5. I KNOW my cat Larry is peeing on every bush in the yard to mark his territory because I got a new kitten and the cat from next door keeps walking through the yard.

Beyond that, I don't know shit.

I have no idea what REALLY transpired between Kim and Clay.

I DO know that I love lime jello with cottage cheese as long as it has pineapple in it AND I love this picture.

for those not familiar with the pin that started this board...

Now, how's THAT for psychic ability!! I had no idea you even had a pin!!

You see---my coming here is destiny.

  6. Such interesting posts this morning. I would like to comment on the YWT brouhaha (since I brought it up). I had no problem with the people who didn't like the song or felt uncomfortable with it or even didn't want to go to the concert because of it. What I had a problem with was the repeated ranting and raving about how inappropriate it was and how it would ruin his career and how they would walk out (AND the return bashing about people being religious nuts, etc.)

If people feel so strongly about this or anything, they can always stay home. No problem there. I find it offensive when people decide that their personal preference gives them the right to dictate to Clay (and the rest of the fandom by default.) I personally (although you would have to look hard to find a bigger heathen) loved YWT so much I bought a songbook so I could play it on the piano. I'd never heard of SCC, and now I'm a big fan. I like Gregorian chants too--but I'm not a Catholic. I love music for the sake of music, so I guess I don't think you have to be religious to appreciate religious music. Others feel differently, and that's ok.

  7. I have a question about pictures. Are they loaded from links? I can't find directions here as to how to do pictures. Not that I HAVE any pictures to post, but just in case...

Wanda - A lot of us use photobucket, and copy and paste the URL for the pictures in our posts. It's really quite easy. If you don't know how to use photobucket, I'll be happy to post step-by-step directions.

Thanks! I have a photobucket account. I'll give it a try.

  8. It looks like no one is posting here at present, but just in case there is someone out there who is taking care of a parent, I thought I'd drop a line. My Mom came to live with me when my Dad died. She was 81 then, 17 years ago. Now, at 98, she's had Alzheimer's for 8 years (well, probably more) and needs constant care. I took an early retirement 4 years ago to take care of her full time because she couldn't ever be left alone. Now, she's pretty much like a 1-2 year old. She can still walk a bit with help (thank God), and she will often feed herself, but that's about it. Anyone else in the same boat?? Similar boat??

  9. (Sneaking in with fat butt)

I'm going to try to lose 20 pounds by Christmas. I'm not sure what diet I'll do but ANY diet would be better than eating nonstop, which is the course I'm now on. LOL.

I NEED to exercise more and I'm going to try to walk every day--for at least a little while. I'm much too sedentary as I sit at a computer writing all day long (excuses, excuses, excuses).
