  1. "All is Well" has been in my car CD deck since it came out. I find it incredibly soothing. I don't care if it's 95 degrees in the shade. Newbie here as this is, I believe, my fourth post. Before I signed up for this board, I sped read through about the past 100 pages or so. What I did like was that I didn't agree with everything and some things I didn't agree with I had never thought of from the poster's perspective. I like having my thinking challenged. I compare this feeling to taking a course in college where you already know the subject matter and you keep thinking, what am I doing here because I'm not learning anything. I haven't found anything here offensive or mean-spirited, just thought-provoking (and sometimes, the thought provoked is that someone needs to vent). I consider posts to be much like the old analogy of buses, men, or Clay's hair (insert whichever one fits) that if you don't like one, you may like the next one that comes along. I often been intrigued by Clay's fanbase and why they are who they are. For instance, the responders in the recent concert survey at the OFC, were very interesting. My estimate is that Clay's fanbase is probably about two-thirds over the age of 40 and about 95% female. Why is this? And why are his fans so protective of him? Is it because they are older and female and are used to being big sisters, mommies, aunts, etc.? Why aren't many willing to let him fight his own battles? Not many seem to be paying attention to one of Clay's more recent blogs where the message was just because they say it's true, doesn't make it so and to let "them" call him what they want, he can take it. I tend to view that as a gentle nudge from a boss who's a hands-off manager. I'm still in the fandom because Clay is one of the few great voices I've heard in a long, long time. My formative years were the 60s and early 70s when it was the normal course that someone who sang had a good voice. What on earth happened? I listened to Kanye on some late night show last night and he's just not my thing, so when Clay appeared on the scene, he was someone I wanted to support because, finally, there was someone I enjoyed hearing (and as it has turned out, I enjoy hearing him independent of whatever genre he is singing). If no one is interested in talking about this, can anyone recommend some "good, dark, chocolate"? "Denman Island Chocolate" but you have to come to Vancouver and take a ferry or two to get to it! :g I'm still in the fandom and can see no way that I'll be leaving any time soon because my addiction to him grows stronger every year. I don't want to "mommy" or "protect" him because he's got a mommy and I think he's perfectly capable of defending and protecting himself, however he decides to approach things. I DO want to hear that voice and laugh myself silly. I want to watch as his star grows brighter, as I just know it will, and to feel like I was there from the beginning. I feel proud of him and I just can't get enough of the whole package. His sense of humour matches my own - I'm sarcastic and seldom serious and anyone who makes me laugh has me. My heart swells for him and he turns me on, big time! I realized how bad I had it when I heard the announcer on our local station, off the cuff, mention that Clay Aiken was going to be appearing at the David Foster Gala. There was no way in hell I wasn't going to be there. Clay freaking Aiken was not appearing 3 miles from my house while I sat at home. The stars must have been aligned as I was able to be there.
  2. Hee! playbiller You could have knocked me over with a feather this week when I checked HMV - ATDW has been $24.95 for months and suddenly it's $9.99!!! unbelievable - and it's got better placement!! Woohoo!! for Gold!!
  3. How did that cherry pie filling Jello with whipped cream concoction turn out? I don't remember who made it last night. I have a kick ass recipe for cheesecake using lemon Jello, cream cheese and lots of whipping cream. I actually made it last night for younger son who is turning 35 today!( that can't be true!!) He wants it decorated with gummi coke bottles!!!! I'll be heading over there this afternoon to hang out with my 6 week old grandson. It would really help if you guys would quit posting yummy recipes. Since scoring ROW A tickets, I seriously have to scale back on those desserts!!
  4. Couchie Woo Hoo on your row G ticket!! Sounds pretty darn good to me! I would have been thrilled with that too. We still can't believe our luck! All our plans are final now for our three-fer! tickets - check hotels - check flights - check kickass SUV - check I just love that "Singin Fool" - (tm-Jesse Vargas) Scarlett Hee!! You are so funny!!!
  5. Seems to like James Taylor, huh? Sound familiar? He's also worked with David Foster. Last had a platinum album back in '96. Releases a new one about every three years. Last three didn't go gold. Went on a Fox reality show, "Celebrity Duets", which many would have said was "beneath him". Honestly, I think Clay is on track to have a fairly similar career - unless the music industry implodes - which is also quite likely. Man, Everything I Have is pretty when I don't have people shrieking through it! YAY, canuck2010! Thanks guys!! :F_05BL17blowkiss: Babyface was one of the performers at the David Foster Gala in Vancouver - he was absolutely awesome and had the whole crowd on their feet - rocking out!!! I wish him lots of luck! He won't be thumped for the covers album. I think the only reason that Clay's ATDW was given such a cool reception was because it was his sophomore album. I think it was highly anticipated to see what his first post-AI hype CD would be and the critics were disappointed. If he had done this album a few years down the road, I think the story would have been very different. I think Clay thinks so too.
  6. gareem, lovethatguy and I got Row A tickets for South Bend! :xmas07a: we're excited...
  7. Scarlett I just watched the "camera" banter!! Oh lordy!!! That was primo Clack!!! Clay taking Clack! I hope Quiana got her "copy"! Those banter clips are the best medicine for whatever ails ya! I lurve him!!!
  8. Hmmmmmmmm, well, if healthy is wanted, wonder how this cherry recipe would be w/ sugar-free jello and no sugar added cherries? I think it's worth a try! Well, that whole healthy thing was actually about having cherry jello stuff for breakfast instead of like real breakfast food... so now I get to out myself and admit that I did use sugar free jello and lite cherry pie filling... IT'S ALL I HAD, PEOPLE and when I get the urge to make something, I gotta do it right away!!!! I'm the queen of instant gratification! Damn! I love that green stuff... and shit, cuz I know I don't have all those ingredients. I'll be thinking about that stuff all day at work tomorrow now... I wonder if I could call in sick... :eusa_whistle:
  9. Just ran into the kitchen, all the ingredients, check! Fired up some boiling water and now have Cherry Jello Stuff setting in my fridge! My son is a cherry fiend and saw it on the counter as the water was getting to boiling and immediately asked what was up. I suspect Cherry Jello Stuff will be his breakfast tomorrow! Thanks! Yeah, we're all about healthy eating and shi.. stuff like that... You are hilarious!!! Thanks for the funny! keepingfaith GAH! THUD! DROOL!!! Anyone but me think it's cool that Tyra paid for lunch the first time which shouted out to me that SHE invited HIM???? Warmed the cockles of my heart - it did!! Yeah, I know - I'm speculating but I love to speculate about Clay and his wimmen!!! :F_05BL17blowkiss:
  10. I know that "speculating" is what we do! BUT! I don't think it's fair to speculate on how much encouragement Clay gave Kim other than what he stated in his blog. We have no clue that he did anything else. I, me, personally, think she layed a big, fat egg and got it all over herself and is pissed that Clay didn't call her up and say "yeah sure, why not?". As far as speculating, I would bet that if he called her to ask for a retraction, he wasn't terribly gentle about it. I wouldn't have been. But then, he's a southern gentleman and I'm a northern bitch!
  11. I disagree big time. I haven't had a chance to catch up reading all the posts, but I just want to say that I think what Kim and her publicist(s) did was extremely unprofessional and very unfair to Clay and Ruben. The interview with Billboard was filled with too many details for this to be a simple misunderstanding. And don't you think that before putting news of a professional commitment in a press release, one should have confirmed that the other party was firmly committed? I thought her blog was childish and petty. Talk about burning bridges! Why not just simply say, "It was a big misunderstanding. I jumped the gun." and be done with it. I have to agree here. I think she was totally unprofessional in giving Billboard her little "scoop" and she got caught big time. No sympathy for her from me. Hee - I still think it's funny. Guess I'm alone. But that's okay.
  12. AAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!! You just shouldn't leave the boards and have a real life - you miss all the damn fun!!!! I was casually reading along to see what I missed today when BAM!!!!! K. Locke wrote a response!!! Well, okay, she owes ME a new montior now!!!!! So, now I real and truly know that I do get a kick out of this fandom!! Cracked my sh*t up!!!!! :lmaosmiley-1: I had the immediate gut reaction that I had when I read about the Reunion tour to begin with!!! I don't know how this is going to play out but I also to read Clay was gone from her "friends" on her MySpace - was that a joke or for real????? Funny, I've never seen her on his page. Unlike some of you, I do, indeed blame Kim for this whole fiasco, and giving that blurb to Rolling Stone, she had to know it was false and probably hoped it might spur Clay on to give touring together some thought. Publicly slapping him now is sooooooooooo grade 2 and by admitting he hadn't returned her phone calls for two months - WTF did she think???? I'm sorry, but if a guy doesn't return your calls - it's over baby!
  13. JennaZ Please don't look at my post count elsewhere - I really do have a real life - I'm just chatty when I get the chance!
  14. I so agree with this. I missed a lot of the hand wringing - I never heard anything against LTS - gosh, I just loved it and gave it to friends who enjoyed it as well. The moment it arrived via Amazon - I sat down and read it from cover to cover - yelled out when Clay told the story of his mother coming in and sitting down in the classroom (reminded me of when Clay described yelling at some point in Kite Runner) Hee! Anyway, then I read it again and savoured it. Some people asked me if they could borrow it and I refused but, if they were good friends, I bought it for them and if they were just acquaintances, I told them where to get it. It is now lovingly inscribed with "Use Your Voice - Clay Aiken" and is one of my favourite possessions.
  15. Oh thank you!!!!!!! THAT was it! Made my day when I read about it! Too funny! But so understandable! Here's a Youtube link to an awesome new montage that SmartyPantsSuz made as a retrospective of SPHR: I just love it! EEE!!! I loved the "boody" picture too!! Hi Booksmart!! Welcome!!
  16. There's just "something" about him - I can't put my finger on it (though I'd love to) but he has some pheremones pheranomes (or however the hell you spell it) or something - or he's an alien. I remember reading at CH a post a while back that told of an appearance shortly after AI2 and Clay was waiting to go on and there were a bunch of hunky male models or somesuch also in the room and, apparently, ALL the women were enthralled with Clay - HE was the alpha male in the room (and this was during the spikey-do days) and the hunky males were going WTF?? wondering what was going on. I wish I could remember the correct details - maybe someone else could help me here. It cracked me up though and I could understand those women perfectly!
  17. Of course, you can call me "Canooky" - all my friends do! Wanda Your pics are ahem beeaauutiful!!!! I still remember when I discovered how to post pictures! I was so excited!!! It's such a kick!!!
  18. Blackberries: My brother is a yuppie - card carrying - as is his wife. I love him beyond reason but he makes me laugh almost as much as Clay does. Last weekend, I had a dinner in honor of my son coming home to visit and invited all the family over for a get together. My brother and his wife always bring dessert. He asks for suggestions and I tell him how I LOVE "Savory Island Pies" - absolutely just like home made. So he goes there to talk to them. He wants a Blackberry pie. They don't have blackberry pie. Nope, he doesn't want apple pie because my mom's Apple pie is the best in the world. Nope, he doesn't want Stawberry and Rhubarb - he wants Blackberry pie - dammit!!! So - he asks and they agree - they go out and pick sufficient blackberries for a pie - deliver them to the bakery and Voila!!!! We had Blackberry Pie!!!! :lmaosmiley-1: I just love him.
  19. MUST NOT SKIM POSTS MUST GET EYES EXAMINED MUST NOT READ "INSULFESTS" AS SLUTFESTS Because I might want to participate in a freeforall of one of those!!!! So good to see you! I missed you!!! spikesmom I think the fandom should be fun too!!! To me, that is the one and only reason I'm here. Welcome to posting!!! atinal I agree with you about JNT05 and what made it worse for me was the fact that it was ripped by so many people who had never seen it. I was at Opening night in Vancouver, loved it so much, as did my non-internet, non Crazed friends - I raced home to give my recap and for days, after the Clack emerged, I was so depressed about annoyed with all the downer posts about this wonderfully charming show.
  20. Cool! One last check before bed. And something to reply to. Useless post made. It's already tomorrow, after all! Congrats, canuck! I'll know in a sec if I'm right there with you or not. If so, oh honey, we could get in some trouble with this!!!!!!!!!! Ohhhhhh, that it were so! (Remembering the sighting of a certain tour bus in the San Diego parking lot........) ETA: YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! Dog walkin' in good, but body guardin' is better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WooHoo!!!!
