  1. ncgran4clay what a wonderful post! Hugs to you. Your DH sounds like he was a wonderful man. GoodNESS that man is gorgeous!
  2. When I think of Clay doing "rock" songs, I think of Steve Perry of Journey. They did some great songs - soaring vocals along with soaring guitars. I just love seeing Clay's excitement.
  3. In my excitement to go to this show or that, I often think about those who can't go. It's really hard to contain the excitement and we feed off each other. And more than anything, I love being with the wonderful friends I've made by being a Clay fan. I know I'm very lucky to have a husband that enjoys seeing concerts - not as much as I do, but enough.
  4. I was wondering about Clack, too. I would think it would be hard to get, but I've only been to 2 Broadway plays.
  5. Ugh, I NEED to get to work. I got great seats, too! Night of my birthday, in March. Now I just need to figure out how to afford the trip. I "caught up" here, which, for today, means that I just looked at all the pretty pictures posted from Thursday on! What a great few days for pictures and news!
  6. I'll be in Albany. More to come, I hope.
  7. Yep, you're right - that breath is hott! But, sorry, I'm not convinced on the rest of it. But I'm willing to watch more. The best part for me was the next song LLVL, not so much at first, but after he gets into it. I remember how fun it was.
  8. I love Iris. I know a lot of people can't stand it. But it just kills me (in a good way) every single time. And, shut.up, but I think it's the lyrics. Hee! Now you really got me! I love the lyrics to that song, too. Sell me on this here - which is a good version to download? I'll use it as my reward for actually getting some paperwork done today, instead of drooling over those "good and bad bangs" pictures!
  9. My first laugh of the morning: Second laugh of the day: All RIGHT! Which one of you doesn't like smut. :glare: I KNOW you're talking about ME! I just KNOW it! I know that people get sick of all my smut. I just KNOW it! And you know what I say to that? DO YOU? Yeah! That's what I say to that. huh? :thsigns053: You WEREN'T talking about me? Oh. Never mind. Seriously, about the above, I often edit, edit and re-edit posts, only to think 30 minutes later, "why the heck did I say that?". The smilies do help, as a number of people have said. When I find it most difficult to express myself is when I want to bring something up that's important to me, but not do it in a way that comes across either too strident or makes a joke of the subject. I'm not very good at the middle ground, although that is what I might feel. As bookwhore knows, I'm thin-skinned about a number of issues, but I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to point out when something bothers me - I often feel hypocritical if I don't say anything when an issue is quite important to me (in RL or cyberspace). I think one of the most interesting things about reading others' opinions is that I might think, "hmm, I never thought of it like that." Recently I said that "Iris" was one of two songs that Clay has covered that I reaaally didn't like and quite a few people said they really liked it. I thought I might give it another try. If I still don't like it, well, at least I gave it another thought. An insignificant example, probably, but pretty true for me in RL. I get caught up in the sighs, growls, puffs of air at the ends of the words, vocal tone, the crispness of consonants at the end of phrases, and I suppose I could say "syllables", like duckyvee. Claygary, beautiful pictures! I can feel the cold edge to the air and hear the crunch of the leaves underfoot.
  10. luckiest1 thank you for the lyrics. Interesting, but not surprising changes. I wonder what an artist has to do to change the lyrics. Do they need approval from the person who holds the copyright? ~ For me lyrics are only one part of the song that interests me. It's usually guitar riffs that catch me. With Clay it's simply the voice. Although there are some songs that speak to me, lyrics-wise, I don't listen to most specifically for the lyrics. There are times when I'll be getting into a song and then reject it because I find the lyrics or subject matter objectionable or disagreeable. Sometimes it just reminds me of something that I don't want to be reminded of. Usually if I find something in the lyrics objectionable I can't enjoy the song anymore anyway.
  11. Interesting - where do I find these? Words have incredible power. They create images and impressions of ourselves and others. For example, myself: If I say "I'm Bipolar" another person would probably have a stronger reaction than if I said, "I have difficulty regulating my moods." I think the discussion would be fascinating. My current favorite lyricist is Jon Foreman, of Switchfoot. I like the subjects he writes about and the way he uses images and the sounds of words. A couple of favorite lines that come to mind: "The future is a question mark of kerosene and electric sparks. There's still fire in you." "Last star I saw last night was a headlight of a man made sky But man made never made our dreams collide." I would love, love, LOVE to hear Clay sing some of their songs! ~ cindilu 2 Awesome banner! Thank you. I can't imagine the work you did. I know nothing about layers - it just sounds so time consuming! :F_05BL17blowkiss:
  12. Maybe that's the problem - I knew the song before and loved it. I should have listened to it after he changed it up. I might feel differently. Another song that I absolutely loved was WISYS, the Bad English version. At first I didn't like Clay's version all that much, but it really grew on me. Now I don't care for the Bad English version.
  13. Touch - now those are lyrics that I don't like - overused phrases. Kinda hott here and there. But then there's TOA - overused phrases, but strung together, and sung by Clay, live, throwing his shoulders back with arms outstretched, closing his eyes and turning his head slightly to the side...very hott.
  14. Clay's Wind Beneath My Wings is one of the two songs (that I can think of right now) that I've heard Clay sing that I haven't liked. This one almost makes me uncomfortable to listen to - like I'm peaking in on someone practicing. The other is the Goo Goo Dolls song from JBT. What was that? I heard that he changed it up later in the tour, but I never listened to it.
  15. ATD didn't really grow on me until after the JBT when I played it on my ipod. But once it grew on me I started to love it. It became my handsdown favorite of the 4 preview songs and I was really glad to hear it was on ATDW. Sorta got nudged outta first place by TOA tho. I'm really hot and cold with TOA. When the CD came out I really loved it, but I got tired of it fast. Then I saw it live and loved it again. Now I usually skip over it. The tour really got me liking HYCA. I liked it before, but now it's one of my favorites on the CD.
  16. I love ATD, too. I thought I was the only one who liked the first verse! MoaM was wonderful this last tour. I've always liked, but not loved it. This tour it was one of my favorites.
  17. I seldom watch montages, but I watched this one because I hadn't heard the song. (Thanks for the download links to the mp3, btw!) Many of us commented that on the last tour Clay really seemed to "own" the show. He's not as wide-eyed with wonder as he was before, which I'm sort of sorry to see leave. In it's place is a confident look, whether on stage or during his charitable endeavors. This montage really shows the transition from "I can't believe I'm doing this" to "Let's make this opportunity count." The maturing is obvious is Clay's physical appearance but even more so in his eyes, his expression.
  18. And, how many of my friends are going to be there! I didn't care for the idea of going to a concert in a casino, but Pala turned out to be one of my favorites ever! Many very large churches have wonderful acoustics and sound but the idea of screening out someone like Clay, doing a Christmas concert, just seems so unreal to me. Who knows the truth. I just hope the concert goes on as scheduled so Clay can blow the doubters away - Clay's faith just glows from within him during many of the religious Christmas songs. I didn't like the group numbers at all, so I guess I didn't pay close enough attention to Clay. I was hoping they wouldn't show many, but now I'm curious! Someone mentioned earlier today (I apologize for not remembering who) that Invisible meshed with Clay's voice much better than BFM or ATD. I think another song well suited to his voice is Kyrie. I remember he mentioned once that he would like to record it and at the time I hoped that he would. As much as I still love the song, now I just hope for no more covers. In concert, maybe, but not recorded.
  19. Every now and then I visit fan sites for other artists, but I never stay long. The sites just don't interest me that much. This feels weird and not weird at the same time.
  20. I agree with the comments that BFM didn't showcase Clay's voice, other than the chorus - I really liked that. I can imagine that singing something that an audience gets into is fun, even if the singer isn't particularly fond of the song. But the real reason I'd like to hear the song again is that I just prefer uptempo stuff. And not just with Clay. 9 times out of 10 I will skip a song on a CD if it's a ballad. If much of Clay's recorded material was sung by anyone else (with a few exceptions) it probably wouldn't even cause a blip on my radar screen. There is my musical taste and then there is Clay. Clay is a genre. What kind of music do I like? Alt. rock and Clay Aiken.
  21. I just read this as CLAY was two friends here for a sleepover!!! I was thinking, "Dang, either you have a great imagination, woman, or I wanna go to your house!" Guess I'm getting too tired to read. ~ BFM - I wish he would bring it back for more, or something uptempo (and upbeat, too JaMar)!
  22. Happy Birthday, liney23! Wow, bringing presents to your own party - and so lovely they are! I was there at Virgin Records/Kimmel concert, too. One of my absolute favorite Clemories. ~ I'm supposed to be working. Dang pictures.
  23. Since I didn't have time to do anything but skim, my contribution for this morning will be to bring this lovely forward to this page! ~ Oh my gosh, I just realized that somewhere along the line I graduated to body guard.
