  1. I guess Ashton is considered cool because he acts just as stupid as all the other young men who act like they are 12. And personally I think him and Demi are more icky because I can't understand even someone his own age going for him, let alone someone who is about my age. I might like them young, but they have to at least act more mature than my son for me to be interested. And by the way, my son acts more mature than Ashton.

My son's favorite tracks are #1 and #12 too, and that is also how he identifies them, cuz god forbid he actually listens to the words. And I made him listen to the cd for my mother's day present since otherwise I may have been lucky to just get a card, which I don't need more of.

And did you have to use Jessica Simpson as an example. Just yuck.

  2. Thanks to everyone who supplied the picture. I'd never seen it before and while I don't infer any love or lack thereof, I do see Clay leg which makes me happy.

I'd be happy if it was true because then there would be a little Clay baby, but I'd also be fine if it wasn't. I do want him to be happy.

I admit that I would really love to hear something from Clay or Jaymes but that is just nosiness, not a requirement. As far as the media spins this, I could really care less. I have zero respect for the media, and I really believe most people have trouble believing them also. They may be more inclined to believe the silly tabloidy stuff, but that's only because I really don't think they give a crap one way or another. We care if its true because we care about Clay, but most people really are not that invested one way or another, and I really doubt that will be the reason someone buys or doesn't buys his cd's. And hey, if it gets people going to his myspace or a fan board or youtube, etc and they check out his songs and think this guy can really sing, maybe they'll download a song or buy a cd. People have been making comparisons to the Michael Jackson mess but I don't think that is comparible, but even if it was, people didn't stop buying Michael Jackson's cd's because he was weird, they stopped because he hasn't put out anything worth buying in years.

  3. OK, I want to know more about that picture that kf was talking about with jaymes holding a dog and Clay with his pants legs rolled up. I personally like looking at Clay's legs and I've never seen this one.

And even though I think the reason Clay hasn't blogged or addressed this is because he is doing Unicef stuff, which ultimately is more important than the any rumors, I still hope we hear something just so we can move on. And personally, if some of the people that were posting some of that judgemental, holier than thou stuff at the OFC needed to move on, then I am ready to see them go. I have no problem with someone being shocked or needing some time to adjust, but to say that Clay isn't who they thought he was, or he has disappointed them makes me want to hit something. He isn't living his life for them, nor should he, and a lot of those posting that stuff are ones who piss me off on a regular basis anyway so I would not be sorry to see them go. I know that is being intolerant, but sometimes they get on my last nerve.

  4. My mom was 38 when she had my youngest sister and I was completely embarrassed, but she also spoke with a heavy German accent, wore housedresses when everyone else was wearing pant suits, and wore heavy red lipstick. So I had issues, however I did come to appreciate her later. Plus, our parents are supposed to embarrass us so we can then do the same to our children. I do it as much as possible with my own kids because I totally enjoy it. They squicked out about the possible news because of the age difference so let them know that we older women are not dead yet. I should be so lucky, if they are of course a couple. If I was his exec producer, I sure would be trying.

  5. Wouldn't you know that the first time I see Clay's name listed on aol's hot searches it would be for something like this. I still think its good either way. If people are checking him out for the gossip, especially those casual fans, then maybe they'll see he has a great new cd out and check it out. I like to keep positive as much as possible, and hey, it was starting to get really dead on the boards, so now we have something to talk about.

And congrats to Clay, Hannah, and Spamalot.

  6. playbiller, that was really sweet about how you were with the rich girl and enjoying hearing her talk about something that made her happy. Personally, I couldn't relate to it either since I am not, nor have I ever been rich. Plus thewhole coming out thing kind of icks me out, but I do like when people can open up about something that makes them happy. I wish the majority of my family could be the same for me, but unless I'm joining them in bitching and moaning, or talking about someone else, then they don't want to hear it. Which explains why I no longer spend time with those members of my family. My kids love me and accept me, even if I drive them crazy sometimes, and my friends are fine with me, so screw the rest.

  7. That story made me cry. I truly wish that all people reacted in the same way as those children, but unfortunately, there are a lot of people who are still very ignorant or intolerant. Currently I work with DD adults in residential settings and I take them out into the community. Thankfully, most people have been very accepting of them. But I am also currently a returning student so that I can become an elementary school teacher, so when I read this at the OFC, I had to check it out. I'll post link to one of the articles on this incident, but the gist of it is that a teacher humiliated a 5 year old boy with special needs, who is being checked for possible Aspergers, by making him stand in front of his class so all the students in his class could tell him why they disliked him, then she had them vote on whether he could stay in the classroom. By a majority, these students voted him out of the classroom. I understand why the students did it, at 5, most aren't the most generous or tolerant anyway. The person I blame is the teacher. This goes against everything that I am being taught, as well as everything that I believe in. Here's the link:

  8. Well, I was up until past 1am this morning trying to catch up, and it does seem to be only a few who are in hysterics about this. I don't have a problem with people being in shock, but it really bugs me when I read some posts about Clay disappointing them or not being the man they thought he was, etc. Maybe its because I'm fairly liberal in my views so this doesn't bother me a bit if its true, however it happened. But I still don't understand the position that he has not lived up to their expectations. He is not a priest, nor has he ever taken a moral high ground so that if he didn't live up to it, people might have some right to go after him about his choices. He doesn't tell any of us how to live our lives, other than to remind us about people who could use our help, so don't have the right to tell him how to live his. And that's my feelings on the subject.

Now, as far as him addressing the issue, I'm in the camp that believes he doesn't have to do anything but I would really like to know anyway. But since he has not been on the OFC, its my belief that he may not be available to comment right now, so I'm hoping he is safe.

  9. I don't understand why this is upsetting to some people. If its true, I'm really happy for Clay and Jaymes, however the baby was conceived, although I'm hoping it was the normal way becuz I really want Clay to be getting some. And if it's not true, it's a lot of exciting publicity.

I really hope Clay blogs though, partly because I want real news, not the fake stuff the media gives us all the time. But also because I miss him.

  10. There are so many good posts so I'll just agree with 95% of them. Ansa, I loved your post and it really helped clarify things for me since I don't know a lot about the music industry, nor do I care to, but it all made sense.

I do read some other boards, and I see that each board usually has some primarily negative posters, but for the most part, I think they are a minority who gets everybody else stirred up, either because they are trying to bring reason or because they are easily led, so will agree with anyone who has a strong opinion. I don't worry about it too much because I do believe it happens everywhere, not just on Clay boards. That's why I can only stand to read the first page of comments on any article posted on the internet because a lot of whackos come out to play. That's not to say that those posters don't drive me crazy sometimes, because they do, but trying to argue with them is a losing battle which I don't need.

Canfly, nice to see you here. I enjoy reading your posts on the Waldo board, even though you are a Negative Nellie, or whatever NN stands for. You're funny and honest so I'm glad you are posting here to add to the other hilarious posters.

And lastly, for now, I am manless right now and would love to have one, but if it's another redneck WV that are the only ones that seem to be interested in me, then I'll pass. Had one, don't want another. So if anyone here knows someone intelligent and funny (on the East Coast, since I'm not into the bi-coastal thing), let me know, cuz there are just some things that are not as much fun doing by myself.

  11. I'm listening to OMWH right now, and I still love it as much as when I first heard them. I also wake up hearing parts of different songs in my head, which I don't remember doing on his previous cd's even though I loved them too. These songs just seem very catchy and I really hope that the radio spins build, and if he does get established on AC, then he'll probably be on there forever. I was forced to listen to the radio this past weekend and it was John Tesh's show, which by the way has way too many commercials, and he was playing songs from a decade ago. Not that I minded because they were some good songs, but I can see what they were talking about the slow build and how it takes awhile to break into AC.

Something else that I'd like to see for Clay's songs is on tv shows/commercials/movies. I recently downloaded a George Michael song after hearing it on Cold Case. I remembered liking it, and I like George Michael, although didn't enjoy him on AI this year. I also downloaded that Elvis song, which I can never remember the name of, because of hearing Elliott sing it on AI. I think that can be a real possiblility for a lot of songs on OMWH because there are so many shows on which they'd be a perfect fit. Would also love to hear some used on SYTYCD which just started up again last week.

As far as sharing concert time, I'm one of the greedy ones who want as much time with Clay as possible. If I wanted to see those others shows, I'd go to them, except I can't since I seem to spend all my money on Clay

  12. First concert I ever attended was Clay's, or rather the AI one, but who cared about the others. It was in DC and it was so exciting even if he looked like a little ant from where I was sitting. I'd never even considered going to any others, partly because when i was growing up, I had a very stingy dad so spending money on a concert was out of the question. Then I had an almost equally stingy husband, so no concerts for me. And I really didn't mind that much because listening to music over screams never appealed to me, however for Clay, I am there no matter what. Got rid of the stingy husband and a lot of other baggage along the way.

As far as gossip, I hate it, and I ignore it as much as possible, including in my real life. If I aint friends with someone, what do I care who they are sleeping with, etc. Nobody keeps me in the loop anyway because they probably know that the conversation isn't going to go anywhere so they find others to share their thrills with. Although, I will admit that I would love to know all the intimate details of one Mr. Clay Aiken, but don't expect him to share them with me. And by the way, how do we know he hasn't been dating anyone? I doubt he's going to tell us about any dates anytime soon.

Have to go now to give my ladies a bath (work with DD individuals, nothing weird), so will try to catch up later.

  13. To reply to Clay related stuff in the AI thread.....

I'm just not so sure that he can afford to be eccentric in his song choices anymore. I love OMWH but it's clearly for his fans and perhaps not a wider audience? Just posing that little gem. When people keep cracking on his song choices but praise his voice than clearly there's some kind of a message there. Not so sure Clay cares to listen though - he loves this CD and the concept and the songs. I guess the next CD will tell us what he's learned from this one. I sure do hope its a sleeper though.

I think that your "eccentric" is Clay's personal preference in song choice. He prolly thinks hip-hop is eccentric. This is where I think there is the biggest divide in fandom - some want to hear and see what he chooses to do next, some are sure that if he sings different songs and does other things differently, he would get more popular acclaim. Clay seems to have told us that he is gonna do as he likes, not pick stuff just because it is "marketable". I don''t get the impression that being a pop star is the only thing that he wants to do or that matters the very most to him. Don't think he will start to choose songs to please reviewers or individual fans either, JMO.

I think he is creatng his own niche, not trying to fit in any of the ones fans or critics have wanted him to change himself for.

Also firmly believe that when he does change things, it is because he wants to and not because of "market research".

I only have a few minutes before I head off to work but I wanted to respond to this. I completely agree with this. I think Clay is doing what is right for him because he is never going to please every fan, critic, or dj, so he does what he likes and wants and I completely respect him for that. It also helps that he sings music that I like to hear, although I haven't heard anything that came out of his mouth that I didn't, unless it was that he might not tour this year, or something like that.

And KAndre, thanks for helping us newbies not feel so left out of this thread. I would love to meet all of you but with all the talk about the friendships made, I was starting to feel like I did all through my school years. I've always been one of those square pegs that never seemed to fit in. I'm more comfortable with it now, and can actually appreciate being different, however there are days when I still wish that I was part of the crowd.

  14. loved those cheekbones from ai. and i loved that butt shot so much that i emailed it to some of my friends.

i like the political talk because i've learned quite a bit that i didn't know before, plus i also like politics lite, which means no rosie/elizabeth politcal talks. mainly because i wanted to strangle elizabeth, although some of rosie's statements were a little out there too sometimes. i wanted hilary to win in the beginning but now i'm fine with obama. i really disliked some of the tactics from the clinton campaign, and i was actually pretty impressed with how obama handled himself during some difficult interviews and questions. just please give me a democrat in november.

  15. My problem with the blond right now is threefold: it washes him out, it makes him look older, and it seriously dries out his hair.

I don’t know jack about hair dying (because I’m naturally gifted in this one single area – bwahahahaha), but wouldn’t ANY dying at all dry out your hair???

My vote on hair is that Clay lets the chemically-colored hair grow out while he's on hiatus, and then let's see the real thing!

I dunno, despite what I said last night, I am rather passionate about the blond – for whatever reason it made me go from mild lust to total lust. <g> It could simply be because it was timed, somewhat with his return to trim AND his Spamalot run (sorta). For whatever reason…I love it. <g

ETA: Everyone does remember, right?, that I was grabbed by the hair -- the AI5 hair -- and therefore always love to talk about it. Clay can wear his hair however he likes, as most everyone does. Clay's hair can change his appearance dramatically, so I guess it depends on whether he wants to look like the kid next door, a college professor, or that hot sexy man down the street -- and I suppose he doesn't mind being all three!

One of the many things I find attractive about him. Actually, I love the AI 5 hair too – I remember vividly seeing him walk out, and I just started screaming. Literally. At first it was in disbelief, but then that SMILE peaked out and I was totally gone. Moreso than before, that is. Did I know you were an AI5er? Did we talk about that?? Dude, we were sisters in many ways. <g>

I don’t think boyfriend really likes those bangs though, which is a bit of a shame. <g>

I know hair coloring from years of experience. I started coloring my hair at 14 and it's been every shade that Clairol or L'Oreal sells. Going blonde, or bleaching always required stripping and toning, while going same shade or darker is much easier on the hair. I've seen some pictures where Clay's hair is becoming straw-ish, which is definitely a symptom of over-bleaching.

Regarding blond vs. brown ... for me it's the difference between devilishly cute and hotter'n hell.

Heidi, OMG I thought the whole world was aware that my atomic structure was rearranged by Clay's AI5 appearance. It was my Waterloo moment. I watched Scarlett's xvid at least once a day for better than a year, and would frequently get up in the middle of the night to watch it. What's more I know at least a half a dozen women who hadn't seen Clay since AI2 and who were right there with me in Clay fascination for a few months after AI5, but it was the guy on stage that night they had fallen for and when Clay seemed different to them months later, they fell away. Me, I had swallowed an adult dose of Dr. Feelgood's Magic Potion and I've been on the real magical mystery tour ever since the mind altering experience of AI5. I'm sensitive to medication. *g*

i can't say i blame him about not wanting bangs. i don't think i could handle bangs in my eyes even if it made me look like angelina jolie or someone as equally gorgeous.

There are plenty of times when Clay was out and about and the camera caught him wearing the bangs, so he did elect to have the hair in his face on his own time. I haven't had bangs for about five years now, but I'm thinking about having them cut again because although they are more work, I know they flatter me. Vanity vs. convenience ... eh!

Clay has to know that women all over the world were blown away by the AI5 look. That he didn't go with it tells me that being a HotSexGod isn't on his list of things to do. But for my personal enjoyment, I wish it were. It's so him.

But I have to ask you, in all seriousness .... you'd turn down looking like Angelina Jolie?

I am going to have to learn how to just quote certain parts of posts, although I am too tired to look now. Yes, I would give up looking like Angelina if it meant I had to work at it. I'm all about being comfortable, plus I am way too lazy to want to work at my looks. However it would be nice to be able to afford to have someone do that stuff for me. Still wouldn't want to fool with the bangs though.

  16. jmh123, did you have any favorites on sytycd? i liked all the ones who made it into the top 4, danny, sabra, neal, and lacey(i think that's her name), although there were several others i liked a lot too. both of the beat boxers who made it into the top 6 were adorable. loved watching danny move. and he has the long, lean look that i like about clay, with beautiful hands. however, i still haven't been motivated to follow anyone since clay, or should i say other than clay. he is definitely one of a kind.

I liked Hok and Danny and a bunch of others. More than any individual, I just love the dancing. They move so beautifully. I love the choreography of some of the dances (the Hummingbird dance was on earlier) and I love the group dances. The zombie group dance was fantastic--have I missed that in these reruns?

i don't think you've missed that because i think that was towards the end but it's probably on in the middle of the night, although when mtv does these marathons, they usually run it more than once. i'm not at home to check my guide so don't know how long its on for. i do love the dancing too but i also like that they aren't famous but are just aspiring dancers. can't watch dwts because its just not the same for me. i just checked youtube to see if there were clips and there are lots of them, so i may be doing a lot of youtube over the summer. re-watching that and clay. need to do something so i don't go into some kind of withdrawal from the lack of clay appearances. hope he has a relaxing and enjoyable summer, but can't wait for him to be back.

oops, i just saw that mtv is now going into the real world or whatever its called, so sytycd will probably continue tomorrow.

  17. jmh123, did you have any favorites on sytycd? i lived all the ones who made it into the top 4, danny, sabra, neal, and lacey(i think that's her name), although there were several others i liked a lot too. both of the beat boxers who made it into the top 6 were adorable. loved watching danny move. and he has the long, lean look that i like about clay, with beautiful hands. however, i still haven't been motivated to follow anyone since clay, or should i say other than clay. he is definitely one of a kind.

  18. i can't say i blame him about not wanting bangs. i don't think i could handle bangs in my eyes even if it made me look like angelina jolie or someone as equally gorgeous. i'd rather look like shrek than have to keep sweeping bangs out of my eyes all the time. as for drying his hair out, i don't see it. i think it looks lush and shiny. i also liked him with brown, red, spiky, etc. i'm easy.

i love coming to this board after reading some of the craziness of other boards. and i don't mean to imply that all the people on the other boards get a little wacko, because most are pretty reasonable, but the ones who spaz out seem to come back over and over again, saying the same things. i thought clay did great on kimmel. personally couldn't care less if he came out in a burlap sack, which really would send the boards into an uprour. his personality shines and he looks cute all the time. people are going to get him or their not, he shouldn't have to act or dress a certain way just to intice some fans, who would probably leave as soon as the next big thing came along. i think the ones who do appreciate him for who he is are the ones who will stick with him like glue for as long as he'll have us. i aint going anywhere.

right now, i'm watching the re-runs of so you think you can dance. i got hooked on it last year and it kind of reminds me of what ai used to be. hopefully it won't go the way of ai. it would be great if they'd play clay for one of their numbers on this show, or had him on towards the end of the season.

  19. Enjoying is what i've been doing this evening also. I was getting so depressed earlier from reading some of the boards and then the projected sales, that I had to do something to cheer myself up. So I turned on Clay and all was right with the world. He has one of the most perfect voices. What I think is such a shame is that for a lot of young people brought up on rap and hip hop, voices don't matter one bit. Thankfully my daughter never got into either of those genres, but my son and a friend of mine both are into that type of music. They also like other types of music but for both of them, it is more about the beat of a song. My son doesn't even pay attention to the lyrics at all. I made him listen to Clay's cd as a mother's day present to me since he doesn't have much money right now, and actually his favorite is LAA, then OMWH. But for LAA, he said the only words he heard was all alone. Wasn't interested in the lyrics either. Which explains some of the crap lyrics to most of the rap/hip hop songs, since nobody pays attention to them anyway. His favorites did suprise me though because they are probably the 2 slowest on the cd. I'm wondering if it has something to do with his expectations of Clay though, and I think a lot of people, especially guys, react the same way. They see things or people in a certain way, so its harder for them to accept something that doesn't fit into that box. Look at how Simon reacted to Clay doing Grease or Everlasting Love. They didn't fit into Simon's pea brain perception, so they had to be horrible.
