Hugs to those who have to face derision or other unpleasantness regularly just because you love this man.

Not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing but nobody in my sheltered little rural Ontario, country-bumpkin school ever says a word about Clay Aiken.

I'm sticking to my plan: I'll believe whatever Clay and/or Jaymes tells me. If they don't speak, then I'll treat all this as another media frenzy. As I wrote on CH, I won't trust a taped interview, even by a 'respected' and 'trusted' media rep (See Diane Sawyer/ABC interview); I won't trust a print publication (I'll never forget the betrayal I felt when Newsweek referenced tabloid sources as 'news') and I've given up on any online 'news' outlet, quite honetly.

So Clay or Jaymes will need to blog to me on the OFC or give a live interview--maybe with Linda Loveland--before I'll KNOW the truth. Until then, I'll just go along my merry way---not believing and not disbelieving.

Muski, that's been my view from day one. My brain may be digesting it and going through the what ifs and understanding the media involvement but until we hear from Clay, we just won't know. Well we can strike the if she's even pregnant part off my list cuz she definitely looks pregnant to me.

ETA: I've come up with a million scenarios in my head ranging from ranging from it's not true to one of these 100 scenarios is true and I find that I'm ok with any of them. So now I sit back and wait. I do keep thinking of Clay saying don't believe anything until you hear it from me. My brain won't allow me to stop the "what ifs" but I'm ok with that right now. Also forgot to mention, I went to see Spam last Saturday with Clay's replacement. Lord knows why, 'cause the replacement sucked with the exception of his piano playing skills.

Oh and guess who was sitting 2nd row center. FBM and Mix. One of the ushers called her crazy Carol. Security said Clay had been in the Orchestra pit Friday night 5/23. I wonder what Clay thought of his replacement. It was funny that the infamous ribbons are really, really short now.

To tell you the truth, I've been thinking---what if it turns out that this whole thing is a bunch of hooey? That is, what if this is just another tabloid fantasy?

I've thought right from the beginning that it's a bunch of hooey. I've let a small bit of doubt creep in after reading all of the various opinions but while I think that it's likely that Jaymes may have done AI or in vitro (whichever is the correct term), I think that Clay being involved is a bunch of hooey. Feel free to pass the ketchup for the hat I'll be eating later if I'm wrong.

I'm not going to comment re: whether Clay or Jaymes should comment or not. It would be nice but up to them.

I will say that I think that if Jaymes is pregnant and Clay had nothing to do with, that it might be smart for somebody make a statement if what I believe to be true is true cuz otherwise people will be assuming that the baby is his yanno.

I can't remember a time in the past many mumbledly years when I've seen anything broadcast live from Ford's Theater, and especially if the President is there. I believe these events are private affairs, and are unannounced for security reasons. Ford's Theater is so small. I think we can look forward to this being shown on PBS one of these days.

I sure hope that it's broadcast cuz obviously there won't be any fan clack, lol.

Oh and the tie is too white!!!

WASHINGTON -- Broadway came to the nation's capital Sunday night during a gala for the Ford's Theatre attended by President Bush and first lady Laura Bush.

Actor Hal Holbrook, country music singer Trisha Yearwood, former American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken and other stars performed songs and spoken word pieces from the musical "The Civil War" at the National Theatre, which hosted the event because the beneficiary theater is under renovation.

"Laura and I have been coming here now for eight years to the Ford Theatre gala and this is by far the best," Bush said after the performances. "It's such an uplifting performance and a reminder of what a great president Abraham Lincoln was."

The musical, which premiered in Houston in 1998 before opening on Broadway, follows the course of the war from multiple perspectives.

The spoken word selections invoked Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth and Lincoln among others. Holbrook read several selections.

Yearwood performed two numbers: "If I Should Lose My Way" and "The Honor of Your Name." Aiken sang "Sarah."

Other performers included actor Avery Brooks, musician Larry Gatlin and author Maya Angelou.

Angelou was one of the evenings two recipients of Lincoln Medals.

Actress Ruby Dee also was honored with a medal. Her daughter accepted it on her behalf.

"The Lincoln Medal brings Abraham Lincoln's legacy to life by recognizing his wisdom and vision in the work of today's leaders," the first lady said when introducing the recipients. "It honors those who through their accomplishments or personal attributes illuminate the character of our most beloved president."

Wow. I can't even imagine it by JD and the Muppets. Not sure I want to hear it, even.

I love the gospel feel of the song. I'm glad it wasn't on the album. And it's kind of an odd choice for this album cycle, I think. But I love it and always sing harmony along with it. Good thing I'm in the car by myself when that happens!

I used to sing alto in church choirs. (and school) And I grew up in the South, DD to a Southern preacher's son, so gospel can take me back to my heritage. So I can understand how some might not be as comfortable with it as I am. It's just my particular life experience. Daddy was the choir director at the Methodist church I grew up in. It's in my blood, I guess.

Likely best if I gon't google it cuz I actually really like the song, even though I'm not religious, I do like a lot of "gospelish" (is too a word. Is too. Now people may assume that I think Clay's perfect because I haven't posted anything particularly hateful but you see I'm really v. picky about the people I hate. While I'm generally open to the idea of loving any person on earth I have to admit that I'm a bigot when I comes to hating. I can only feel hatred towards people who are in the same class and standing as I am. Everyone else gets a few words here and there and hardly more than a brief passing thought. So going back to Clay, he might just barely make it into my league for hating. However, since my hate issue list is extremely short: unkindness, dishonesty and intolerance, er, I guess that's about it. Anything beyond these, I'm easy. Yes, even with people who make me sleep on the wet spot. So, there just hasn't been a lot of opportunity for Clay to go over the line on my hot items. When he does, though, I will definitely hate on him.

Oh, and I wasn't born. I came out of the sea foam on shore of a Greek island. What.

I totally resisted going to either the CB or OFC threads cuz I heard that they were insane. It sounded like the OFC one had gotten so crazy that I decided to go look at the last couple of pages and it truly was nuts. It got locked about an hour before I looked and mod posted that she was going to start editing but there was too much and that she'd discuss with the other mods, so they must have pulled it.

I sure hope that Jaymes and Clay only read what was posted there and aren't judging the whole fandom by that insanity.

Maybe Jaymes was upset at what was being said. From what I heard, some were angry at her for asking him to "donate" and some were talking about leaving the fandom, so maybe she was upset over that, plus she'd been waiting to make it public cuz there can be complications for somebody who's 50.
