  1. It seems that some can get into CV and some can't. I brought this over from the CV emergency forum via dancermom2: Clayversity Emergency Forum I was at OFC and the train wreck of a thread was finally closed. Upon further reading, I found this... You guys have made me laugh a LOT today...thanks.
  2. Poor Jaymes...there are a couple of people at the OFC that I would just love to take down a notch or two. I won't mention names, but geeeeeeez. I posted something positive...nothing earth shatteringly profound, but just to show my support. Oh...couchie, I did recently take up crocheting again...hee.
  3. Yup...I have a feeling that things are going to get...uh...very interesting. You guys are CMSU today. My allergies are giving me fits and I really have to clean house to get ready for some overnight guests, but I'd rather cruise the boards. I haven't been anywhere else but here yet today. Which brings me to Playbiller's post...I don't have time to quote it but I lurked here for months before I got the nerve to join. Never once did I get the vibe that this board thought it was "better" than any other board. That's why I liked it. I liked the diversity and differing opinions. Now, that I'm here I want to say thank you to everyone for making me feel welcome. Most people say things so much better than I could, but it's so refreshing to be able to post here and not be ignored. Thank You. :F_05BL17blowkiss: Off to clean...
  4. OOlsee, a very Happy Birthday to you! :F_05BL17blowkiss: :7254: Oh man...I'm kind of glad I was babysitting GD today and away from the boards. I did sneak in earlier but didn't get to read much. Criminy...poor Clay is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. ITA with so much that was written here today. I'm so sick and tired of people who have somehow magically gotten into Clay's head and speak for him regarding his career. I just wish I could slap the shit out of some people. ETA...Iseeme, I do agree that there is a preconcieved bias against Clay. I absolutely do not think his career is over...no way in hell.
  5. Oooooh my goodness.....how am I supposed to sleep with the thoughts of those going through my head? Damn, that is one lucky mic...
  6. I have a feeling that Clay Aiken will be played on Urban/Rap Radio before Country Radio would play him. He doesn't guzzle beer, chew tobacco, go to honky tonks, drive a truck, marry movie stars, and his mama ain't in jail! And you know what I'm singing in my head .... you don't have to call me darlin', dar-lin' ... How does that go? I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison And I went to pick her up, in the rain But before I could get there in my pick-up truck She got runned over by a danged old train .... I remember this song vividly...David Allen Coe. The radio station I worked for got requests for this song quite often, along with Take This Job and Shove It. Oh Sweet Jesus... I'm loving Sessions today. I have no issue with the musician comment and I think he sounded fine even with the few little glitches in his voice. I'm sure somewhere on some boards everything about it is getting ripped to shreds and analyzed to death, but I choose to love every nuance and note that comes out of that beautiful mouth.
  7. Welcome canfly! Greeter Guy is pretty darned cute! :F_05BL17blowkiss: I'm new myself and I didn't post in this thread...oops. I've posted at other boards, but none of them feel like home, so I'm hoping this is it. I lurked around here for a few months and thought this place was verra, verra nice!
  8. Well crap...I just typed out an epic post and it got eaten by something. Instead of trying to remember everything it me 30 minutes to write, I'll do the Reader's Digest condensed version: OMWH...Faves are Falling, FIEKY...although initially I didn't care for this one, but it sure grew on me. ALAWH...LOVE! Ashes, and EIDN. The only one I skip is TRM...CAN.NOT.LISTEN. It just tears me to pieces. Everything else just falls somewhere around the middle, but I do love this CD because Clay is so versatile with his voice...and I'm addicted to it like it's a drug. Lyrically, I think some parts are somewhat sad and melancholy. KC and The Sunshine Band...I LOVE them!! That's the way...uh huh, uh,huh I like it...uh huh, uh huh. :00000442: In high school, our choir teacher was giving one-on-one critiques to the select concert choir. He called me into his office and said I was doing ok and proceeded to ask me if I ever sang at home. I told him yes, in fact I did. He asked what I did and I told him that I sang along to Partridge Family albums. He was mortified. Huey Lewis! He was my absolute favorite in the 80's!! He's had a home up here in Montana for quite a while...about 40 miles from where I live. He often performs in town here for fund-raisers for the arts. He did a small set with Phil Vasser when he came to town a few years ago and brought the house down. Clay as an opening act or co-headliner? I don't know...jury's still out for me. I see pros and cons both ways. I don't think I'd like to see him as anyone's opener...although if it were to happen I'd wish it were someone like Xtina I guess. If it happened either way I agree with what was said upthread...the boards would implode. Good Night everyone...my bed is calling.
  9. Just got my GD down for a nap and wanted catch up here a bit...writing from my phone. It would take me forever to reply to all the good stuff, so I'll have to wait until I get home. However, the Partridge Family posts seriously made me smile...so many good memories. More later...hope everyone is having a good day.
  10. Happy Birthday laljeterfan and Mama Couchie! The small town where I grew up and even where I live now weren't known for entertainment. It's gotten a little better in the past 15 years or so. We were lucky to have one big name artist come per year. The very first concert was Anne Murray...my mom took me. Then it was the Hollies, Merle Haggard and Marty Robbins. I'll take back Merle Haggard...he was too drunk to perform that night, so his back-up singers and band had to do the show without him. The first concert I ever traveled to was in 1976 to see The Guess Who...I thought Burton Cummings was HAWT! Fleetwood Mac opened for them. Then I moved to where I live now and got a job initially doing photography for a radio station. That job turned into a full time position that I held for 5 years. My point is that I got free tickets to lots of good concerts. I got to spend an hour with Wynonna on her bus doing some photography and that was kind of fun. But since then I've seen Brooks and Dunn, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, too many country artists to mention. I did travel to Spokane to see The Eagles...next to Clay, that was the best concert ever. Yikes...after reacing cha cha's post down below I totally forgot about Paul McCartney in 2002. Clay is the only one I've ever flown somewhere to see.
  11. Whoa, nice gifs! At least I can go to bed tonight thinking about those instead of the Charles Bronson/Death Wish movie marathon I've been watching all night. Iseeme, glad you got the remote problem figured out. I miss Clay too...I wish he'd blog. Night nite everyone.
  12. Hi everyone... :F_05BL17blowkiss: I hope everyone is having a good day. FromClagary, I'm glad I'm here too. I'm enjoying it very much. :F_05BL17blowkiss: Gloch...I love the diversity of this board also. Come out and play more often...if I can do it, anyone can! That goes for dummie too! Gibby, I laughed while reading your post because it brought back memories of my oldest daughter's high school graduation. The indoor facility where it was normally held was in the process of being renovated. Therefore, it was held across town at another high school's track field. The weather was beautiful when we arrived, but within 15 minutes the wind was just howling...blowing the choir's music everywhere...then the rain started. We got through it, but we looked like hell when it was over. Anyway, I always wished I could play the piano. I've always envied those who could. luckiest, so glad to hear the guitar recital went well. I tried to teach myself guitar once.... :laught31: Iseemee...got that remote working yet?? I haven't seen IJ yet...probably can't afford the gas to get to the theater. I agree. I really do believe there is a separate standard applied to Clay Aiken...simply because he is "Clay Aiken". And those bozos have a media-skewed view of what they think he's like. Sure, his music may actually not be to their tastes, but rejecting music mainly because of wrong perceptions about the artist? That's just dumb. And to do that for this album? Dang near unforgivable. ITA and a big ol' WORD! I'd like to know exactly what credentials are required for one to become a music critic these days. I'd like for Clay to stop saying that he's not sexy or cool too...but I honestly feel he's convinced he doesn't think he is. I'm just glad he hasn't mentioned not being able to go to the grocery store, and that he's only dating his dogs. The latter comment just to make me just cringe.
  13. Not Tijala....but it was me you got the Spokane from, so let me correct that. No, not Spokane, she lives in Montana; but it was in Spokane that we met. I love Sandpoint AND Spokane! Two of my favorite places when I lived out West. Going to PM you, actually....I have a bit of a favor I won't bother the board with. I saw that Saltwaterdog thought I was from Washington also. I live about 300 miles from Spokane, and try to get over there as much as I can. I do live in Montana...in the land where men are men and sheep are cautious. Actually we are civilized...we even have paved roads! There are no Cluncheons or anything of the sort here. *I'm All Alone....* FromClagary, if you live where I think you do, my dad and uncle were born there and were Mounties at one time. And yes, I'd love to get to that neck of the woods sometime. As I said a few pages back, I intend on winning the Powerball and may actually get to attend a Gala with you and me myb. [/delusional] BTW, that quilt she mentioned that I won is phenomenal. I hope everyone someday is able to see what lovely work she does. Now that's just about the finest ass I've ever seen. And BTW Bottlecap...you don't scare me...yet. It's taken me awhile to get caught up, but I will say that I'm not worried about Clay. I really have nothing to add, as ITA with most of what's been said. He has a good head on his shoulders and presumably good people advising him in his career. Do I wish that OMWH had better numbers? Absolutely! It's a crime that this work of art isn't being heard by more people. While taking into account the economy, which BTW if gas goes up any higher, I'm going to have to take out a bank loan to fill up my tank..., and other factors, I think he's done alright. After looking over HDD the past couple of weeks, I'm not worried about him. He's going to be just fine. *Hums...Always Look On The Bright Side of Life* Thank you all again for the warm welcome you've given me.
  14. Thanks ausdon for the welcome... :F_05BL17blowkiss: Some of the fans that I met 5 years ago have moved on from Clay and onto other hobbies and/or performers. There was one in particular that I kept in touch with for several years, and then suddenly because she didn't really follow Clay anymore, she really didn't seem to want to keep in touch anymore. She had some personal issues going on in her life at the time also and I know that was part of her decision...but I still miss her. I feel so lucky and blessed to have made and kept the friendships that I have. I live in a part of the country where Clay never travels, so I always have to travel to concerts...and I haven't been able to attend many. But I'm anticipating winning the Powerball in the near future and I'm looking forward to meeting many more of you. Good Night everyone, and thank you for the welcome!
  15. Wow you are far more talented than I. I just learned how to text Very nice you have you here, although I think between the two of us, we are the only ones here at the moment. I have a Verizon Voyager. My daughter has no internet, so I was feeling somewhat cut off from the world. Can't have that when a girl has to keep up on all the Clay happenings! Oh yeah...my daughters text me all the time too. Thanks...it's actually the first two initials of my husband and two daughters. It'll take me a few days, but I'll get an avi up probably Saturday...I feel so naked! Thanks again to everyone for the lovely welcome! :F_05BL17blowkiss: ETA...Just wanted to say hello to Muskifest and to say that this board has the absolute funniest emotes I think I've ever seen!! Yup...I'm gonna like it here a LOT!
  16. Iseeme and goldarngirl, thanks so much for the welcome! I'm sure I'll like it here too...I've lurked for awhile and this is a nice place. I take care of my 2 year old GD several days a week, so I won't get to be here as often as I like...although I can access the board from my phone, which is verra, verra nice!
  17. As I sit here trying not to break out in a sweat composing that all-important first post, I almost feel guilty of intruding on a family with the wonderful stories of the friendships we've made in Clayland. That said, as much as I'd like this post to be somewhat profound and intelligent sounding, BWAH!-worthy and one to truly be remembered, it ain't gonna happen. I'll be lucky to get the nerve up to hit the "Add Reply" button! Seriously, I think most people are concerned with being liked on a new board, and I hope that in time you will feel that way about me. This is what it's all about, isn't it? I too, have made some wonderful friendships over the past 5 years...I know FromClagary...she doesn't know I'm here yet, but I asked her if she would be gracious enough to read my Christmas story if it were chosen since I could not attend a concert. It was not to be, but what a kind and wonderful person she is to have agreed to do that for me. I've also met me myb and she is lovely as well! There are many more, but I don't think they're here at this board. And to dummie, I just have to say that I think that post about your lurker board is just about one of the funniest things I've read! Ok, I think I'm done with this epic mess of a first post! *holds breath and hits "Add Reply"*
