  1. Poor puppy I don't get people who mistreat their animals...I hope he recovers soon. I made one of the best and one of my favorite purchases yesterday....an iPhone! It's been a looong time coming and I had a great discount price that I couldn't wait on. I haven't really tried using Siri yet but I look forward to her messing up what I say. Haha!
  2. Where the heck has time gone?? It feels like we just got his birth annoucement.... Happy birthday Parker!
  3. Gotta say.... SO glad I was able to get online... LOVE the pic. We kinda made a last minute run out of our house last night... my mom decided we would go over to her sister-in-law's for the night and I'm glad I ended up packing 2 days worth of stuff, I had a feeling she might have done something like that and confirmed it today. I got lucky and some friends picked me up today from the wedding we went to and I'm there now...but yikes! I've been without internet for the past 24 hours or so and it's a fluke I'm on now... hope it holds out. Hope everyone's having a good weekend! I know I am!
  4. SO happy for Sean and Ben The pics are adorable!
  5. I know you can stream, but it's a pain to me. I'll watch stuff on my computer but I'm actually not a big fan of it (unless it's clack! lol). If I can watch something on my TV over having to watch it online, I'd rather do that. Besides.... do they really think a casual watcher like me is going to get up at 5am to watch an event live? I know when I found that out I said uhhhhh nope. Never mind. NBC Sports is the one station we don't get that I wish we did. It's one package up I think. But of course, it's the station that's airing equestrian, which is one the few events I wanted to see. I think the only one I'm interested in watching right now is water polo, there's a girl from Ann Arbor who is goalie for the team. I always like to watch and cheer on the locals. ETA: I will say that's good of Comcast to have a couple extra channels for the more watched sports.
  6. Or do what I do and surround yourself by those who don't watch or follow Olympics. (if you want to smack me, feel free, I might deserve it lol) I guess I don't understand the fuss about the bad commentary or the NBC hate. Maybe it's because I ignored the commentary going on and just listened to my own thoughts for most of it. The cameras at least were objective and we still saw (almost) everything. I still enjoyed them and thought London did a really good job. I had the thought today...and this kinda goes along with Couchie's complaint of missing certain events... I know the Olympics are an NBC exclusive, but these cable companies have stations galore dedicated as alternative stations for sports. Look at all the "season pass" channels for the NBA and NHL. We have Dish Network and they have at least a couple dozen alternative sports channels that are never used! Why can't they negotiate a deal so they can use some of those stations to air the full amount of one event? That way if you only want to watch swimming or archery or volleyball or whatever it is, you can watch it? I'm sure there's a thousand snags involved, and a monopoly is probably one...but still.. it makes no sense to me.... heck they could even put together an exclusive deal with Comcast since NBC is owned by them (or is it the other way around?). And that might even entice true Olympic fanatics to switch services...
  7. Woohoo!!!! One of the BEST things I've read in a while!! This should go for gbmifan too!
  8. I enjoyed the opening ceremony too. It was very well done.
  9. Happy birthday KAndre and CrazyForClay!!! :fest30:
  10. Michigan isn't on the list!!! I'm gonna take it as a good sign!!!
  11. Transcribing Clay is HARD since he talks so fast! I've done it before and it's quite a bit of work. And then we can't peruse the chats easily, it's a one shot thing... I am gonna try for it though. You and me both!!!!
  12. gbmifan!! Hope it's a good one! I'm not a summer Olympics kinda gal :clay: but winter Olympics I could watch the entire 2 weeks of. LOL I'll probably watch them anyway when I can't find anything else on tv. I always want to see the opening and closing ceremonies though. Our local NBC affiliate has been flooding their newscasts with Olympics stories because we have quite a few locals participating this year. I think the biggest one they're hyping up is Jordyn Wieber for the gymnastics team. And then apparently we also get to lay claim to Michael Phelps because he attended U of M. I didn't know that before this year. I guess the swim coach for U of M was also named head coach for the USA swim team, so that's pretty cool.
  13. A friend of mine emailed the Dallas Symphony today, so I'm hoping for good news to come back. She later added she should email the Houston Symphony too since they already have worked with him. I'm hoping if she does, that at least one of them books Clay!! I could probably do either city.
  14. Fear I hope your kitty can get some help from the vet. Doesn't sound good... Community... I watched the first episode I think and wasn't really captured by it, but I recently saw a clip from an episode this past season and it was funny! I might give it a try someday. The craziest thing I've done for Clay is probably nothing compared to some things others have done..I've never gotten to just get up and go to an event, even though last year I was offered a free ticket and a ride from Ft. Wayne to the next night in Waukegan. My problem there was I wouldn't know how to get home! LOL Anyway, besides missing that opportunity, I think the only thing I did was get up around 4 am? Drove to the venue for the Sterling Heights concert the day of the public sale. Ended up meeting and getting to know Ficus who was in front of me, we made a deal that if she could get close tickets that she'd buy mine for me and I'd pay her for it. She ended up buying the entire 6 seats of 2nd row center. And I gotta say...that was one of the BEST concerts ever! I had a friend come up from Texas to go with me and we were in heaven the whole night. LOL Okay and maybe this one is crazy too, maybe not, but I was in a 3-car caravan with 13 other people for a Christmas 3-fer back in 2007. We went to South Bend, Waukegan and Kalamazoo. And that was SO fun!!
  15. We had dial up from whenever it was we first got internet (99-00? yes we were late to the game on this) to mid-2010. Just a local place that a guy ran out of his house. But he was good! Did computer repairs too. lol! But where we lived at the time had no cable services in the area (and still doesn't I believe-if you want cable you HAVE to have satellite) and I recall not even being able to get DSL services. So we were stuck. Luckily some smart person invented wi-fi for dial up so we at least had that. We're with AT&T now and while it's not xfinity or any other cable service, it still does the job better than dial up. I can at least download and stream stuff now!!! I remember both my grandpa and I looking into that Hughes Net satellite internet and they wanted a disproportionate amount of money for speeds that are worse than DSL...it's a total ripoff.
  16. Happy birthday Scarlett and Carolina Clay!!!!
  17. Happy belated birthdays to kimiye and jmh! Sorry I missed them. I'm probably the first generation that grew up with computers around for their whole life, and I can say I remember the old computers with very little memory! My cousins had an Apple IIGS that I loved to play games on. I remember playing Zork! LOL When we finally got our own it had the shiny new Windows 95 with a whopping 4GB of space! That was the computer we still had later when I became a Clay fan. I learned really fast about download, burn and delete! I'm on an Apple Macbook now. 20 years later I came full circle. lol Sadly, my iOS version is slowly getting phased out and I need to upgrade by the end of the year....
  18. Well... these are interesting retweets from Clay. I thought he had burned his AI bridges? Maybe he feels differently with the major shakeups going on? ETA: a couple more for thought:
  19. Sure thing. Hop on in and dont forget to bring a lifevest in case we cant bail out the flowing tears fast enough. lol We should stock up on wine too. I'm happy for all those going to the gala, just having a moment of envy and self pity is all. I'm kinda cranky today. It's not about the gala though. much We planned to kitty sit for my aunt for 2 weeks while she went on a bike tour, but my Mom's had some problems lately that she's finally getting help for and she didn't feel like she could handle anything else. I was looking forward to it so much. The house has been way too quiet since we had to put down our own cat back in March.
  20. I'm in the "will probably never get to go to a gala" boat with treenuts. I feel ya. But congrats to all those who got tickets today. I saw someone post caps up at CV but they were promptly removed because they are OFC content. I haven't been on the OFC message board in ages so I don't know if some got put up there or not. I or someone else can always make a few too.
  21. jmh, I think it's more a strawberry blonde. Maybe with an emphasis on blonde. It's pretty though. My hair is what you said yours used to be, dark brown with auburn tones. But over the last year I've spent a lot of time in the sun and now I have natural red highlights.
  22. Drinking story? Yes please!!! Great chat tonight. Having Cameron there creates a different dynamic but I think we get to see a more real side of him rather than a guarded side. And he was perfectly snarky tonight too! I'm so glad I watched the chat kinda over the all-star game tonight (it's been on mute in the background). The American League players are getting their butts whooped, not very fun for me. LOL
  23. I have a friend whose mom said the same thing a couple weeks ago. We had spent the night at another friend's and then went back to her place and her mom had the windows open and the air off, but it was sooooo humid! It felt pretty disgusting for 7am. But when we got in and she asked for a/c, she said that same thing...she sits in it all day at work, she wants to do without for a while. We were miserable but we're also the kids. LOL! I grew up mostly without a/c. We had a couple units but they were barely used, and hardly ever even set up. I'll take a/c all day every day for the rest of my life and not take it for granted!
  24. Glad for an actual concert date but he neeeeeds to come a bit closer... or if by some miracle he has a stop in the DFW area I could probably go to that one. merrieeee sounds like you're having a good time I think we're on our last super hot day of the week...it's been long enough! Can't wait for it to be cooler. Very thankful though that through all the storms and power outages we haven't been affected. We didn't get to celebrate on the 4th cause my mom worked and we didn't prepare anything or got invited anywhere. So today at least I'm making up some burgers, potato salad and baked beans. Should be good!
  25. Welp. I know where I'll be next Tuesday evening. We got some CRAZY storms today. Missed the morning round, but got the afternoon round. Heavy downpours, marble sized hail, and tons of lightning. It's finally cleared up, but we heard thunder for almost 3 hours straight. Back in my old stomping grounds on the east side things aren't good. Lots of power outages and word of powerlines down, trees down, golf ball sized hail, and from the morning 3 homes were hit by lightning. We really needed it all though, if you haven't watered your lawn, it's turned brown!
