  1. Merrieeee. Have a wonderful trip

    Congratulations to your son Lucky.

I don't have a green thumb but my mom is a country girl She just needs to look at a plant and it flourishes. I've been in my apartment for 10 years and I'm finally about to do something with my patio. We're so excited to finally fix it up That's our summer job

    What's The Talk?

Good job aikim. Sometimes people don't realize how they are affecting your life. They are just pushing papers.

  2. Thanks guys!

jmh, for example I had very tenderly sauteed scallops on small sweet potato pancakes with a maple butter sauce and garnished with bits of apple and a slice of bacon. Really, really good. They use a lot of "southern" ingredients in different ways: hoppin john, collards, pork, etc. I also had a very fresh, crunchy chopped salad with bits of blue cheese and bacon. Amazingly refreshing. The name of the restaurant is Milners, if you should end up in Winston and feel hungry. :twinklewhore: But call me first.

There was no dieting last night, for sure.

Sorry I missed your birthday Fear. Been working longer hours the past week or so. Today I start my new position in my company. Looking forward to it. Your dinner sounds great!

TGIF...and everyone have a good weekend and holiday if American. I actually have to work on Monday.

  3. Caro, congratulations.

This weekend really brought to the forefront how much cancer has changed all of our lives. I lost 2 aunts within a 5 year period. One was 50 and one was in her early 60s at the time she died. They really kept our family together. This past weekend I saw some cousins I haven't seen in years and it's just a shame as we grew up together and one seriously lives 10 miles away. We vow to do better.

  4. Sean and Ben got engaged today. They bought their rings at Tiffanys!

There is a pic on facebook but I can't bring it over on the iPad.

Remind me again. Who are Sean and Ben. I feel like one or the other worked for Clay but was one on Spam and they are a couple?

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I was super busy with out of town relatives and my neice's dance recital which was fantastic. The girl is getting better and better every year. My favorite was a dance routine doing the waitusi, mash potato, twist, jerk swim etc. LOL.

  5. Treenuts -- where does our ticket stub get us a free personal pizza. Was it Round table?

PIZZA?? We get a free PIZZA?!?!

bwah... I guess the Giants LOSING did something to your hearing. :imgtongue:Take your ticket to Round Table and get a free personal pan pizza with one topping. You pay the tax only. If you want more toppings you pay for that.

I've never been to a gala. One of these years I'll make it. I love that it's such a tradition now.

The Warriors drafted someone named Klay. I hope he's good.

    Bwah...thanks Kim LOL. Duh. heee.

  6. GBMIFAN is in a tent somewhere riding her bike goodness knows where and I don't want to crawl out of bed on a Friday!

JustClay ... so proud to be part of your crazy. No way we were leaving you on the streets of NYC wandering around ha ha.

I think almost all of us can say we slept with strangers. It comes with the job.

Treenuts and I are going to the A's game on Sunday. Whoo hoo. Well for her it's a Giants game. Hope MY team wins - I think they are on some sort of double digit losing streak.

  7. When I think about it, one of the craziest things I have done is travel to NYC 3 times over the space of a year to see Spamalot 10 times. I'd never been to NYC before or had any desire to visit NYC. Now I would love to go back. I hope he gives us reason soon. I'm still paying those trips off, I think. The price of tickets alone (me plus at least one kid most trips) was astronomical. Let's not even get started on planes, hotels and meals. :cryingwlaughter:

    heee

For me I kinda paid as I went. But still - I put out a bunch of money over the years to do it. I don't regret 99% of it. I think if I could take one thing back it would be going back to NC for the October Charlotte/Raleigh shows. And those are some of my favorites but I had already been to east coast in the summer for Greensboro, Greenville, Charleston an bad memory..somewhere in VA. But I think when they announced the Xmas tour air tickets were already bought. I think if I had known there was a xmas show to look forward to I would have refrained. But the regrets are small because that was a good time LOL.

Went twice to NYC and as it's a city I love - NO regrets whatsoever. I have a co-worker going soon and I'm so jealous. I love that city.

  8. Annabear! Nice to see you. I'm sorry about your job but yeah the job market is pretty closed still. I still look now and then just to check things out and there's not much out there. I'm glad you have a lawyer -- someone to fight for you.

I really like facebook.. probably pretty hooked on it now. I can read it on my phone with just a couple of clicks. Just seeing so many of my worlds collide is pretty fun.

Fear, sorry about your friend in the rest home.

Well my nephew's team lost their first playoff game. We thought they would go further but this is sports. And just a few years ago he was on the 4th place team that went all the way to and won the championship game. My niece had her 3rd grade commencement today. I can't believe she's going to the 4th grade already.

Part of the fun of traveling to see Clay was going to cities I've never been to. I loved some places that I didn't really expect to like Nashville, Minneapolis and Greenville.

  9. Yes shampoo. I can't see a thing without my glasses.

Craziest thing is still getting in a totaled car in Salt Lake City and riding to Vegas and then back to California. Totally crazy.

I also did a fly to vegas, go to the ice show, gamble all night, take early am flight home and straight in to work.

    That was fun.

I think the amount of travel I did in 2004 was off the chain!

Thanks for the donations. We are set for the next 7 months.

  10. couchie, no dental is not covered under our provincial health insurance. My employer offers health & dental coverage (over and above what is already covered) so I get my dental that way. Not that I personally visit the dentist...:whistling-1:

So I guess I won't be requesting a transfer to our Vancouver office just yet. heee.

Merrieeee I had to look up Bratislava. Wow and so fast. Have a wonderful wonderful trip and keep us posted every step of the way.

So for those following the drama -- my mom's boyfriend sent her the money for the plane ticket to SC. But she has smartly decided not to go in the height of summer. So she will go at the end of summer or early fall. For your Carolinians... what are the hottest months there. We're trying to figure out when is the best time for her to go. And I am proud to say that my mom started a "chair aerobics" class today and she loved it. She'll go twice a week.

So do we know when Clay's episode will air. I love Wanda and Margaret Cho!

  11. ONE PERFORMANCE? ha ha. Easy for me. Good News from El Cahon. Favorite performance ever. I have literally watched or listened to it a hundred times. I like to listen to it when I'm sad or happy. It works on me in different ways.

I know we are a small group here but if anyone can make a small donation to FCA I would appreciate it greatly. My paypal address is aearlye@yahoo.com

I got a quote for some dental work I need today and it ain't pretty. The payment plan will wipe me out for a few months but I have to get it done. Unfortunately all my extra curricular activities will take a back seat for a bit. Canadians, is dental covered under your universal health coverage - if so I might have to take a run for the border!

  12. So after missing two straight weeks of weight watchers because of vacation and then the holiday -- I had a weigh in and was very happy that I actually lost weight in those 2 weeks. Not much but I was so very afraid I would lose ground! So now I feel invigorated and look forward to staring my jazzercise class.

I want to try zumba. I have 2 left feet though.

  13. Congrats Shortyjill.

I have no sense of direction and I get lost everywhere I go. GPS is the best thing ever. In my little town it's like there a ton of tiny neighborhoods with 2 or 3 ways in and out. So you can get lost if you don't which are your exit streets. Tonight I walked home from weight watchers class. I just looked it up and it's 2.07 miles. I didn't stick to the main road but took what I hoped would get me home faster. The further I walked off the main road the more I thought I would get stuck in a maze and never come out on the other side. But fortunately I did without having to backtrack.

    Favorite performance from each album?

    1. MOAM Perfect Day was my favorite song but Clay's version of I will Carry You on Oprah was stunning.

    2. ATDW: Broken Wings is my favorite on the album -- Favorite performance is When I See You Smile

    3. OMWH: Favorite song - As Long as We're here. I haven't seen or heard enough of these songs to have a favorite performance.

    4. MCWL: Very hard it's a tie..favorites and favorite performances -- Mary Did You Know and Don't Save it all for Xmas Day

    5. All Is Well -- Surprisingly my favorite on this is Christmas Waltz. I don't even think I heard it before Clay.

6 Tried and True - Suspicious Minds is one of my all time favorite Clay songs. So even with the beauty of Crying on the album I'd still go with Suspicious Minds.

And now I'm thinking about all my favorites over the years that aren't on any album.

  14. I start jazzercise class on the 20th. My sister and I will go together. I've done this class with Muski and she still goes there although I think we'll be on different schedules except on Sundays. Anyway I'm looking forward to it. I haven't really incorporated the exercise as much as I wanted so this should do it.

  15. Sooooooo I'm cleaning and that means Clay cleaning too. I could have sworn I did this a couple of years ago and I think I did. But I still have so much stuff. Well today -- all residual VHS tapes are gone. At one point I think I thought I had to download every Clay clip. I had all these DVDs which were just Clay files... a huge box of them. Out. I also had a million duplicates home made CDs. All tv shows that first couple years, also gone. I kept Salamander's DVDs because she documented everything really well. I kept all professional recordings. AI 2 DVDs. All DVDs that were full concerts made by some very talented folks. I still have a nice collection to take to the old folks home.

Still have some boxes to go through. I may have some things that people might want. I'll post when I get to them.

Treenuts..I called home twice to ask my mom to take some chicken out of the freezer. The second time she was talking to her boyfriend because she said "of course I took it out" then got me off the phone real quick. LOL. Of course when I get home, chicken not out. She felt all guilty and brought me food home from the game. I guess they had a party at the ballpark today.

  16. Day to ourselves, kids have other plans. Went out for a 53 mile bike ride this am and it was really hot and humid. Got two new toys for my bike. The first a bottle that sprays and has a fan for these very hot day. It fits into my bottle holder. I usually wear a camelback for more water. Then my hubby got me a device that measures the % of our hill climbing. It has been fun watching what it is telling us on some of our climbs.

I putting the potatoes in the oven and stir frying some veggies and hubby is cooking the chicken on the grill.

Am I the only one that worked? I'm dog tired and too lazy to even cook anything. Everybody else out at the little league park.
