Running late for services again (but will stay within the speed limit this time)... Just wanted to say thanks to all who responded about the picture archive.

Question for the librarians here because we need a way to classify pictures so that they will be easy to find. In ways do you think people will want to search a picture archive? How would people want to see these sorted? What questions would people want this archive to answer? Are ratings of pictures important? Color of clothes? Type of clothes (casual, formal, very casual, etc)?

ETA: Just wanted to clarify,

The question people will be asking is "Where's the picture where/from/when ... " (why else would they be searching a picture archive?) but it's the "where/from/when ..." part that is important, eg. from the JBT in Cleveland? Where he wore a white belt? All pictures with rivets? The good-n-plenty outfit? The Charlotte stage "hump", the one merrieeee detests?

gg, I think the most important part is how we tag them. We need to use things that make sense to us.

There will be standard dimensions (don't mind me, I'm just being data-modeler-nerdy) like event, date, location

but we also need to be able to ask for things like - with Angela, snowflake (sorry again merrieeee), white belt, etc)

ldjy, your new game made me think of something. We have a vault for videos and mp3's & mp4's, and the FCA media archive has audio. We each have our individual pb, smugmug & flickr accounts but there isn't a searchable index of pictures. Over the years (and I hope everyone here fully expects to have several more decades worth of pictures), something more organized will be needed.

How difficult would it be to add a tagged picture library to the FCA media archive so that 20 years from now, people will be able to bring up the "snowflake" picture instantly?

Well, part of it was just asking the mods for suggestions -- pick 10 of your favorite pictures. But, I've also tried to balance it out with many of his different looks. For now, I think I've got pictures from 2003-2009 -- plus also blond, red, spikes, and long. Oh, and glasses/no glasses. And I'm sure there will also be some pictures that people will be like "why on EARTH did they pick that one?"

But hey, it's our game. *g*

Question to ldyj -- how did you manage to narrow it down to 64? We took forever to pick the picture for the photo-stamp project at the CH way back when.

Haven't been posting much..got some not so good "stuff" going on right now but i'll participate even though I know that a certain someone will have my least fave pic there.

I know this is OT and a repeat plea but I am so up to my ears in hummus and babba ghanoush it's not funny. I don't know what to do with them, I don't think I can eat them indefinitely, I know they don't freeze well but I can't just toss good food away. Still had some left over from when I got the date wrong and a little bit from the real event tonight as well. *sighs*

Yours looks ok to me. The lettering on the disc should be raised to the touch.

I bought nine of those things during the show.

I was going to post full scans of each side but I suddenly thought that counterfeits could be created from them -- what do we need these for and could I put a watermark to make sure the files I post don't get used to produce fakes? (not that any of our members would but we have an open board and anyone who has an Internet connection could pick them up)

I was going through my box of specials for LWLHD (and was distracted. one can get lost/mesmerized indefinitely) I hope mine isn't a copy. Does anyone know how to tell a real one from a fake? (and I could scan it, if y'all think it's real)

goldarngirl, I'm going to reply here although we've talked about it (and I sniffled and moaned and searched again) to head off people sending you notes that say Scarlett has lots, I was on it, I said hello, etc. I only have a 1 minute clip from the Asheville busline. I don't know what happened but I'm guessing I'd put it on standby by accident. I'm sorry, especially to all the people who posed for me and waved and said all their messages, thinking it had been recorded.

liney, just wanted to say that I loved your last couple of posts -- your cute story about your "aura" and the nice reminder about "All Is Well". I need to bring out my Christmas CD's again. I'm sitting here wondering what to do with a whole kaboodle of hummus & baba ghanoush -- the long weekend threw off my counting and I thought we were in the 5th week of July. Does anyone know if it freezes well? And pita bread too?
