  1. Oh man - I just watched Those Magic Changes. I think I may have a new favourite live Clay performance. GAHHHH!!!! That ending was inspired - even the conductor turned around with a wtf grin on his face. He was so into the character. SQUEEEEEEEEEE!!!! I may never stop grinning.
  2. How appropriate is today's song... Who's Sorry Now? Hmmm, I'd bet more than a few of the folks who teased and taunted that gawky kid. Rawrrrrrrrrrrr!!! Excuse me now while I go wipe the drool off my keyboard.
  3. <<< is grateful! ETA: This man needs to be on the stage again. Somebody write him a musical. Quickly! *looks down* Squeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
  4. Dang, the same thing happened with the PBS cellstream. Wahhhhhhhhhh!!!!
  5. Thanks, ladies. It felt kinda good to play with Clay again. Sounds like you're having a great trip, ldyj. I envy you the sites, but not all the walking!!
  6. I haven't done any Clay graphics in a long while, but I love this photo from the CD booklet so much I had to give it a shot. (biggie size) (regular size) (wide screen size)
  7. Is he blond again?!! *runs off to watch* Okay, so not blond, but lighter red? They thought about taping the special in Toronto? *sob* Oh my - his Spamalot story makes me teary. I was there that night - not the Friday, but the Tuesday & Wednesday when the People cover got leaked. So all that 'louder than ever' was at least in part my friend and I. Two nights I'll never forget. I'm thinking he must be remembering the weekend stage door though, because sadly, he never came out (and we were actually glad of it). We did get two very distinct waves from him on the stage though (had terrific third row seats), so he did know that we were there. Gosh I love him. And no, Clay, I don't understand it either dude. What can I say? You're magical.
  8. Crying. Though It's Impossible and What Kind Of Fool Am I are my 'favorites', I think that for me, Clay's voice has never sounded more beautiful than it does on Crying. He makes sounds I've never heard before and they are simply incredible. Like so many of the songs he's sung, this one has been on my playlist for years (Roy's original, and the Roy/kd duet both). Side note: it really is amazing how many songs he's done that applies to for me... BOTW was my all-time favorite song before Clay came along. Anyway, where was I? LOL! I love the opening of this song - that half a beat where it's only The Voice (and how ironic is it that that is the name of Linda's newsletter?). It tells me right off that bat that I'm about to hear something special, and it doesn't disappoint. I can't even describe what his last few 'Cryin's' do to me, but it involves goosebumps and hairs standing up on the back of my neck. Incredible! I think his and Linda's voices go well together - there were a couple moments in the live performance where I wasn't sure which one of them was singing (too far away to see their faces). I love everything about this song - not one thing I would change. Perfection.
  9. I'm glad to see Clay (and Lauren) doing some local promotion for the Bringing Broadway Home show. I hope that Raleigh-ites get out and support it - not just because of Clay, but because it's their community. There were still some pretty great seats left as of the weekend (when last I looked). My NC friend is going with her daughter, who hasn't seen Clay since the IT - looking forward to see what her reaction is.
  10. Heh, the fanclub does a good job with that all on its own!
  11. jmh s'okay it's been one of those days. I'm thrilled to see the meet and greets return for the Timeless tour. Squeeeee!!!
  12. *pouts* Nobody reads my posts - even on the same page!
  13. More on Bringing Broadway home. Video this time (via FromClaygary and her facebook link). Clay Aiken and Lauren Kennedy
  14. Maybe somebody should tell them it's on June 21st, not July 21st. *g*
  15. This is one of the do-over songs from the taping. He joked that he didn't do anything wrong - Quiana just suggested it so that they could turn up her mic, lol. Interesting though - he did the ending two different ways and it was noticeable enough that I remember it months later. Funny though, neither of them were exactly the same as the CD recording - cuz I definitely would've remembered that!
  16. Sighhhhhhhhhhhh. Sometimes his eyes are so gorgeously green. He is beautiful. Suspicious Minds. The one song that I didn't really see as fitting in with the rest. (I would've sworn it was a seventies song. *waves to luckiest1*) I wasn't over-the-moon about it because I felt like he'd already done it and wanted something 'new'. But once again, he did it. He not only made me love something I never expected to, I think this is one of his best vocals. Even if there isn't much different about the arrangement I feel like this is one that, as much as I loathe the expression, he really makes his own. Love the ending most of all.
  17. Nice to see so many people (I recognize quite a few of those names!) showing the love to Linda. Their performance of Crying is probably my most vivid memory from the PBS taping. I don't count today's song, Unchained Melody, in that equation because I'm a victim of the Aiken fog when it comes to that one. I have my feelings (which are both strong and forever) but the specific memory of the song is too wrapped up in the emotion of it all to really say I remember it. I hope the DVD will help with that! I think I've said enough about it over the past three-plus months that reviewing it again would be redundant. So I won't! :-P
  18. Swear to god, I am not picking on you gbmifan, but your post cracked me up. He sounds great, gives you chills in parts and sings it well, but it's a least favorite. I'm looking forward to the review of one you love! This one and WKOFAI compete for my favorites. This one generally edges into first because it's just so danged romantic and for some reason I think of it as 'their' song. 'Impossible' at 3:07 is to die for. And the line 'I would sell my very soul and not regret it' gets me every time. Especially the three-syllable 're ger et'. In hosting Playing Favorites, he lauds Frank Sinatra's way with phrasing. I think Clay is just as masterful in his interpretations - and he only gets better. This song is a prime example of that talent.
  19. Sendspace for Playing Favorites. This is the program including the music. Frank's live version of Mack the Knife is pretty amusing (the ending). I thought it was a curious choice on Clay's part to play his and Frank's versions of Moon River back-to-back. Word of warning though - Clay plays two, yes two, songs by his friend Michael Buble *gag*
  20. You might want to check with Pink Armchair first (unless it's posted elsewhere) as she did say at one point she wasn't sure the chat was permitted to be re-posted. In any case I'd rather not have my full name posted anywhere.
  21. It was mentioned in the chat that Eso Beso and Who's Sorry Now were 'bonus' cuts on the DVD. No mention made of I'll Take Romance (at least that I saw - but there were those ten minutes I spent yelling my credit card number across the miles to Chicago :-P)
  22. They changed the order of the concert quite a bit. Interesting choices. On the abrupt ending to the Ruben thing - at the concert Clay right came out and talked with him and then they, along with Quiana, did the Classics. It's a shame that isn't part of the special - such great comic stuff and brilliant advertising for Timeless tour. Ah well. I am pleased they included In My Life though. I was wondering about that since they say 16 songs on the DVD blurb. So I guess that means 14 from the CD's (less Breaking Up Is Hard To Do) plus Eso Beso, In My Life and Buttercup.
