  1. I ended up calling. The cell call probably cost more than my pledge, lol. And what do you know - I got someone I know on the phone . Heheh and now I see the odds of that were actually pretty good.
  2. He continues to rock my world. Always and forever, baybee.
  3. I think I will never hear Clay sing Mack the Knife again and not instantly be transported back to that night in Raleigh and the incredible feeling of watching that curtain go up and seeing him standing there with his back to the audience - striking a pose and a mood that would carry right through the evening and beyond. Incredible! For that alone, this song holds a special place in my heart now. The CD version is fun and it makes my head bop and my fingers snap. Vocally, he's amazing and he can still surprise me after seven years. I don't think there's a song on the cd that suffers in comparison to (currently) more famous versions. Certainly not this one.
  4. Feat of Clay Scroll down for story of Clay holding the Idol alum record for most debuts in the top 10. Kelly is four for four, Clay is five for five! Whatever else, it makes a nice headline. *g* And considering the mass amount of radio play/singles success the others have had, I think it's even more impressive that he's been able to do this.
  5. Mine shipped as well! I don't know if this works outside Canada but here is a link to this morning's satellite interview. Canada AM
  6. For all the bitching (justified, imo) I did about the previous fan club management I really have to give kudos to the new people. ground[ctrl] has been so good with communication. Unprecedented in this fandom! I noticed the other day that the All Is Well EP was missing from his discography and posted about it - lo and behold, they put it up (complete with snippets and links to purchase) this afternoon. And without acting put upon or like it was some giant PITA (a sense that was always there with Clique). There are still bugs and things I'd like to see different - but it's SO nice to actually feel like there's someone listening on the other side of the monitor.
  7. Apparently it's tomorrow (according to the thread at OFC). Maybe that means a live appearance!
  8. I'm thrilled that he made # 9 on Soundscan/Billboard. Even though his other record is gone he can still claim all his CD's have debuted in the Top Ten and that's no small feat. Here's hoping that slow and steady wins the race!! I enjoyed the Chelsea Lately interview. It reminded me a lot of the first Kimmel interview. I don't care about her enough one way or the other to comment on her, personally - as for her in relation to Clay, my litmus test is what she says about him moving forward, after having met him. I have no problem with humour as long as she (or any of them) drop the vicious shit. Lord knows Clay indulges in a little good-natured snarkiness about himself and others. Only Make Believe... definitely my favourite of the up-tempo songs on the CD. I swear when the intro music started at the PBS thing, I though he was gonna bust out Witchcraft (that sly, come-hither stare...) LOL!! Pretty glad that didn't happen. Conway Twitty is one of my all-time favourite singers. They didn't call him 'the best friend a song ever had' for nothing, and his Make Believe is classic. In my opinion, so is Clay's. When Without You (another long-time fav) came along, I found I couldn't listen to Nilson's version any more. With this one, I find both versions can live on my playlist and I enjoy the heck out of them for entirely different reasons. This one is the real earworm for me - I find myself singing it at random moments throughout the day.
  9. There is a delete button on comments. Just sayin'
  10. This was a fun interview for sure, but oh my god, Invisible? Really??? They couldn't have found a copy of the new CD?
  11. Ahhh, What Kind Of Fool Am I... how I love thee. This one competes with It's Impossible and Crying for my favourite from the CD. From my first listen through the album the overwhelming feeling I get is how much Clay has matured, and it resonates in this song for me most of all. I love the way he builds the song, from the hesitant questioning at the beginning to the wrenching statement that ends it. He really makes me believe that he is asking the question of himself. He may not consider himself an actor. I, however, beg to differ. He is in complete control of his instrument (yes, I've left that as a gift for treenuts on her return) and it is a wonderful, magical thing. Why can't I cast away this mask of clay and live my life. I wonder if he had a small, ironic smile on his face as he sang this lyric? I think I would recognize Clay's phrasing even if someone just spoke the words to me using his style. It is unique to him and one of the things that I love most about the way he sings. Well that, and his hard r's and the word baby (baybeeee, baybay, behbeh, babyuhh - I'll take 'em all!) *g* ETA: On the clay/play lyric: I could probably be convinced either way, but even through my good headphones it sounds like a 'cl' sound and not a 'pl' sound. It will be interesting to see the PBS video and watch his lips. In either case... still ironic.*g*
  12. Does anyone know if the Chelsea Handler show is live? I'm just wondering because if it's same-day tape and it's tomorrow I'm not hopeful that the Canada AM thing is live in-studio the next morning. The satellite interviews are good but I would love knowing he's here in Canada.
  13. Fun fact! We finished off the last thread with the new, improved CD cover (sans bruise) and now we're gonna finish off this thread with the brand new DVD cover! You read it here first. ;-) Thank ya, thank ya verra much.
  14. Oooh, that's a goodie! Lots of TNT special footage.
  15. Super biggie size TnT DVD cover. This is linked to my poor little bandwidth-deprived site, so please don't hotlink it. Otherwise, feel free to share. (Photobucket reduces the size because I don't have a paid account anymore, so you want it big... click and save )
  16. Yowza!!! Now that's a fine looking DVD! (working on a biggie version right now - don't tell my boss!)
  17. Your post makes me very happy, preden. Welcome to the world of wishing your summer away for Clay!
  18. I know it's Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You day and all, but hey, I only got my deluxe edition yesterday and I just have to say... ldyj, I hate to tell you this but Breaking Up Is Hard To Do and I are having a torrid affair behind your back. Oh my god, he really, really knows how to torch up a song. Those low notes all the way to the falsetto at the end. *dies* No wait, *dies satisfied and smoking a cigarette* And I'll never tire of listening to him sing the words 'who's sorry now?'. Enjoyed the AP article (too bad nobody let me know it was out there :-P) I get the feeling that Granny Aiken took things better than Mama Faye did. And that's all ima say about that.
  19. Still thinking about yesterday's interview. Still smiling. Still loving TnT. Still loving Clay. Maybe Clay shouldn't take the first-week numbers personally. This article on my homepage this morning says the week prior to his (ended May 30th) was the lowest sales week since they began compiling that data in 1994.
  20. A prime example of quid pro quo! Today I feel very, very grateful to the fates that made that stubborn boy drive to Atlanta.
  21. I thought it was interesting that when Larry was talking about asking many times to interview Clay and getting a 'oh Hell, no' - Clay says (he's laughing and they are both talking at once, so not 100% sure he was serious) that it 'never got to him'. I'm listening again and cracking up over the 'convenient name' thing (Peter). And the 'X' chromosome. OMG - he's priceless.
  22. I think this has replaced the Primetime Live interview at the top of my list. I didn't think anything could do that - and it only took seven years!!
  23. Second best part of the interview? He put the song Touch to bed, hopefully forever!
  24. Amen! Best interview ever! From the promo line I admit I was a little bit afraid of what it was going to be. Boy oh boy, was I wrong. Larry was respectful, insightful and fun!! He was almost a fanboy, but without any hint of falseness. If he isn't a fan, then he is the best actor ever because I completely believed. The first part of the interview was all about the music and I so appreciate that. He asked great questions and actually allowed Clay to answer. And oh man, did he answer! I don't think I'm going to stop grinning for a week. So true, what bottlecap said about the insight. He was incredibly open and my respect for him only grows and grows. He is a special man!! Favorites comical moments... the part where he talks about how deep his voice sounds on their system, and the response when Larry talks about sometimes (rarely) feeling 'that way' about a woman. Clay's answer was classic. BWAH! I love love LOVE this man! ETA: canfly, in my opinion Clay's answer to the tabloid thing was brilliant and totally discounted their 'spin'. swamprats, (to quote my dear Mr. Aiken although on a different subject), can kiss my ass! And his answer to the 'love' question was also brilliant. He is a smart, smart man.
