KAndre... YAY!!! for KAndre recap! Love your recaps! Keep it up, FCA sistah!
cindi... I so agree with you! OFC has always been so critical of almost everything Clay does, tho, so he should be used to it. The only thing I don't like about this tour is his hair and I'll live thru it. LOL As usual, they are griping before giving Clay a chance to tighten it up and make any changes... which you know he will. If he's having fun, I'm having fun! What else matters? Idgits!
The thing is, I don't know what everybody else thought but when I heard 'Timeless Tour' and saw the posters, and heard Clay's description of 'classic songs of the past' and took TnT and Ruben's last cd into consideration, I was expecting a mellow, ballad heavy, somewhat more formal show. What we're getting is JBT2 with a lot more laughter and camraderie thrown in. They both look like they really are having the time of their lives. And Clay is freaking well DANCING!11!1!!!!!1!! How can I be disappointed with that?
-
I'm not sure how you'd tell if Ruben's fans are in the audience or not? The applause seems to be pretty even handed (except for the whoop when Clay comes to the stage)
The 80's intro CMSU! (Clay) 'The 80's were all about being macho - so who better to represent than me??'
I surely never thought I'd hear Clay Aiken singing Shout!
-
Preacher bit...too long...time for a break.
I'm pretty sure this is one of those moments that just doesn't translate to cellcerts, or even to Clack. The audience sure seems to be enjoying it.
This one does seem longer than the last two though.
-
Clay sang full versions of Suspicious Minds, Mandy, Still the One, When I See You Smile, and maybe one more or I am dreaming it.
ETA: Re OFC critics, my buzz is unharshable.
You go, girl!
It's so funny - somehow I blocked out those other songs as 'solos' - maybe it's the ballad thing.

I really wonder if there are people at this tour who haven't seen Ruben since AI2 and wonder why not. This is the Ruben that all those people fell in love with, IMO - the Velvet Teddy Bear. We've seen this Clay all along, but I don't think his (Ruben's) AI2 fans have had the same pleasure. I was so impressed with his voice at the PBS taping and he's really shining in this one from what I've seen and heard.
It was nice to hear a little shout-out for him (the birthday lady) earlier.
-
I really wonder if the reason for all the repeats from JBT has something to do with licensing, etc. (Pure speculation of course) maybe it was easier/more economical somehow and they are keeping costs low for this tour.
ETA: Lotus, I think you had a hiccup there (double post)
-
I'm amazed that he included Mandy again, but I must say it's a really beautiful rendition - even better than JBT.
Whatever he did to get his mojo back he ought to find a way to bottle and sell it, because his voice has never been better.
ETA: claylove, Rube singing EID (IDIFY) was definitely the biggest WTF moment for me. You know there had to be a conversation about that before hand (along the lines of 'my fans are gonna freak out', lol).
-
I don't know... cleaning house while I listen so I took that intro and song to go put a load of laundry in. LMAO Did not want to miss Clay.
Hee, I save that for The Longest Three-and-a-Half Minutes in Music (aka Superstar)
Hey Lotus, I think maybe it's just better sound overall - better/different phone. I can hear things today I haven't in the first two.
-
Wheee!! A seat mate! (((claylove)))
It really is better reception than we've had so far.
Quiana sounds like she's in good voice, too.
And here's Still The One..
Did Ruben do this long an intro for Marvin Gaye last time? Maybe this is just the first time I could actually hear him.
-
I'm alllllllllll alone in the concert thread.
-
Clay said hell. teehee.
I'm loving Bring It On Home. They really do make great harmonies together.
Just for posterity... Quiana is back today.
He's already teasing people about multiple shows. Said their 'fight' was scripted - weren't you at yesterday's show?
-
Anybody here?
Ahhh, there it is....
I'll just sing while I wait.
All alone... I'm all alone... King Arthur TM
That opening is hilarious.

I wrote down that Clay sang Still The One in Asheville. That's right, isn't it? Did he sing it last nice, and am I already in a Clay-fog?
I'm afraid Clay really would have to get kicked in the crotch to sing the high screamy parts of Dream On, and Parker may need a sibling some day, so I vote "No" on that one.
Hee - did you ever hear him sing The Girl Is Mine???
And for sure he sang STO in Asheville. I didn't hear it last night but maybe it was during the black out while they switched callers?
Oy. I just read a long, detailed post on OFC itemizing all the things that are wrong with this tour and why it is so disappointing. I swear to god, I will never really understand (some parts of) this fandom.
ETA: I know there are things we'd all like to see - I personally wouldn't have chosen Mandy for the solo, but mostly I'm just glad to see him having such a great time again. We'll get full on concert Clay again in a few months by the sounds of things. This tour is about fun and friendship and it's amazing to see him so loose on stage.
-
I would love it if Clay switched in a full version of a power ballad like More than a Feeling or Alone for either Mandy or When I See You Smile. He sings the ever-loving crap out of both those snippets, and either one would raise the energy level of the set.
Dream On, I guess.
Hmmm, Dream On would be a lovely addition, too
You know, I forgot that he sang WISYS. I've been telling people he only had one full song (Mandy). Who knows - he added SSTBTHW to DCAT part way through the tour *waves to playbiller* so you nevah know!
-
I doubt Clay will mention it in concert. As good as he is about Clack, he's told us before that he can't override venue security if it comes down to it. I've seen it go both ways - where the security backed off after being told that Clay/Jerome had okayed it, and where they've stuck to their guns. Even though their methods were unconscionable and despicable and way out of proportion, the fact is they have 'right' on their side as far as the actual infraction goes. But how any reasonable person could look at Scarlett, look at the situation, and then put her out on the street with no belongings is beyond comprehension. I have no doubt Clay is just as appalled as we are over their treatment of a patron but I don't really think there is much he can (or should) do or say publicly about it.
I hope that today is a better day all around, and most especially for Scarlett and the others who were ejected yesterday.

Holy Crap! Just read about the clackdown and what they did to {{{Scarlett}}}. I said in the concert thread last night how much I appreciate what the clack gatherers do for us at the expense of their own personal concert experience. Clearly, sometimes that cost is even higher. Unbelievable that so-called security would put a woman in jeopardy that way regardless of what she was doing. Assholes. I did read about her presence of mind even in the face of all that and bow down to her nerves of steel. You are the woman!
On a happier note, that Phineas and Ferb clip is awesome! He's such a cutie and the song is great
(love the MOAM reference. LOL!)
-
Ha! Was Baby Got Back part of it last night? I missed that for sure.
-
I'm trying to stay mostly unspoiled for video, but OMFG I want to see him sing This Is How You Do It.
-
Has there been anything significantly different or was the opening the 'something new' Clay mentioned?
I'm still amazed Ruben is singing Everything I Do. Was it on any of cd's?
-
Yes, thank God it wasn't last night. I think my head might've exploded!
We are so lucky (and spoiled) with all we've been able to experience remotely and I do so appreciate the sacrifices to their own experience all these generous folks make.
-
Thanks for the updates, Caro.
The last thing I heard was him giving somebody credit for learning a solo so quickly but I couldn't tell if it was Casey or Q that was out. Pleeeeeeeeeeease don't let it be contagious (even though I love you, Q).

Dayum! Guess it's always a risk, but dayum.

Another song I never thought I'd hear Clay sing
And if there are gonna be repeats, thank god one of them is Livin' La Vida Loca. FLOVE!
I so love End of The Road. Of all the voices Clay has sung with, none are better with his than Ruben's (IMO). Their harmonies are beautiful.
I feel like the show is a few minutes longer today (seems to me that preacher bit did go on a little longer).
