It figures that my best photo op there was some kind of funky lighting making striped shadows across his face!

Pastor Studdard. It's SO much easier to get decent photos of Ruben. Clay NEVER stands still.

Be honest: Didn't you automatically tilt your head to the side and lean in when you looked at the first picture cindilu2 posted? :lipstick:

    *raises hand* Guilty!

  2. I'm finally home after an epic four days I don't think I'll ever forget... even if I already can hardly remember them. (anybody who has ever had a meet & greet with Clay will understand). Both concerts were outstanding - truly the most entertaining experience of my fandom years, but I don't think I'll ever be able to top the magic that was the Windsor show for me. Due to some truly amazing circumstances I ended up being part of the charity meet and greets for both Windsor and Chautauqua.

I will admit to being pretty nervous about what they would say when we showed up twice, but both Clay and Ruben and the Team absolutely could not have been nicer. Cheryl (Clay's assistant) and Mariah (tour manager) took care of us at Windsor (Jerome was reportedly under the weather). Two friendlier, more charming and patient people we could not have asked for. Jerome was back for Chautauqua and he and Cheryl were, again, awesome. Clay and Ruben were both snarky and funny - it seemed like they spoke more to each other than to us in both cases (which was worth the price of admission all on its own!! These two are so clearly good friends it is a pleasure to watch them interact). I will try to write a better recap of it once I deprogram a bit - it's been a pretty overwhelming few days. I'm not sure I can say it better than I did the other day though - Best day in the history of every (x 2).

One shout out to the two ladies who shared our experience in Windsor. Since I don't know if they've posted about it I won't post names (until I catch up and then I'll edit) but they absolutely made it a better experience - both at the M&G and sharing the front row with them for the show. You ladies ROCK!!!

I got a new (used) camera the day of the Windsor concert and dove in with absolutely no clue how to use it and no time to learn, thus, about 10 of the 200+ photos I snapped at Chautauqua are keep-worthy. This is my first attempt ever at photos and I have an even deeper appreciation now for those who bring us the pretty time after time. This stuff is hard, y'all!

    Probably my favourite

Did anyone mention the stripey socks?

  3. Work is boring. Is it Thursday yet????

Ooooh, did I mention that when I called in to Seattle PBS Sunday night to order my TnT DVD, the woman confirmed the order with "ok, and that was one Chet Atkins DVD?". BWAH! Seriously, sometimes you just have to laugh. I felt like I was back in Meadville. *waves to fellow Meadville attendees from 2005 who will know what I mean*

Hope they get it right. I think they did have a Chet Atkins cd/dvd on their list.

    Uhoh! :P

BTW - the Alex banter/druckin' funk clip? Best Clack Ever!

  4. From afterelton.com:

Last night on Disney XD, Phineas & Ferb had guest stars Chaka Khan and Clay Aiken on to sing encouragement to the boys. But it was more than just providing a song - they got animated into the show, and even had a couple lines after the song. It's a great thing for gay families to see a gay dad animated into their programming - this isn't Fox Sunday night grown-up cartoons, this is real kid's programming, with a gay dad they can talk to their kids about.

How wonderful is that??? YAYNESS ALL OVER!

ETA: The "trucking funk" with Drunk Alex is in the Reno_Thankful4Clay_Banter with Alex clip. He's so damned cute it's ridiculous. Just the first minute or so has it all. And as Clay says, "Exxxxcellent!"

Now THAT I can get behind! (both items)

    Awesome! :flirtysmile3:

  5. Definitely not asking you (or anyone else) to give up your joy, keepingfaith. I'm just saying I can't share it when it comes to this guy. I'm not going to dredge up the details - suffice to say it was not pretty. So yes, I can and do read back-handedness into his words and I can't help that. For the record, it wasn't me who brought it up the history - just offering my feelings on it/him.

And neither he nor anyone else could possibly steal my joy or excitement for this tour and most especially this Thursday and Friday.

    :snoopy::dancingbanana::dancing3::snoopy::dancingbanana::dancing3::snoopy::dancingbanana::dancing3::snoopy::dancingbanana::dancing3::snoopy::dancingbanana::dancing3::snoopy:

    (and that's putting it mildly!!!)

  6. Flying post, as I am leaving for Club Nokia in 20 minutes and I have to eat first... tho I read they have Wolfgang Puck there, so maybe not. LOL

I'm not going to remember half the show, but I will say it is now tied with JBT for my fave concert Clay has ever done. I'm was thrilled beyond to not see the massive yellow shirt! Clay doing LLVL in jeans and tucked in shirt was definitely a highlight! Yummmmmy!!! If I do say so myself, the audience LOVED the show!!!

BULLETIN... I saw Clay, Devon, Ruben and Jerome at the Reno airport. Clay was playing the slots and the rest were watching him. Clay... scruff... OMG! I didn't have enough nerve to ask for a picture, but I did say, "good show, guys" and Ruben said thank you. Made my day! I will go into more detail later, but I had a blast meeting and hanging with ldyj, keepingfaith, treenuts, couchie and couchiemom before and after the concert. (We ate the best food I think I've every had and the cheapest for such good food at midnight for pete's sake.)

I was challenged by United losing my luggage Friday and my having to shop at walgreens to make it thru the weekend. I got it back at 1am this morning and left the hotel at 7:30am. Geesh! I bought a $2.99 t-shirt at walgreens and cut it up to have a clean top to wear. The only thing I really minded was not having my binoculars... but I'll have them tonight!!!!!

    Off to Club Nokia!

Clay gambling?? Whilst sporting the scruff? He's turning into quite the bohemian, isn't he? :flirtysmile3:

    Who's Devon?

  7. Wanda, thanks for the recap(s). Postwhore away! I don't know how anybody remembers enough to recap - the Aiken Fog is brutal. Fortunately the Recap Queen (aka luckiest1) is at the same concerts I am so I can do a lot of 'yeah, that' ing'. *g*

Somebody who lives in Charlotte area might oughta tell the PBS stations web people (or whoever looks after their online pledge form) that Clay's CD and DVD are call TRIED and True, not TIRED and True. They misspelled it every single time.

    :hahaha:

  8. That cellcert last night was the freakiest thing I've ever heard. I swear I heard messages in there somewhere.

aikim, the only video I see posted up thread is 'Clay and Ruben talking to Alex.' Is that the one you mean? I'm trying to stay visually unspoiled for most of the concert so I only watched the first few seconds of it, but Clay seems to have his normal (bling free) suit on in this one. Did I miss something?
