  1. hee bottlecap. I had a smile today watching PTI -- and they were doing their little trick or treat schtick -- and one of the guys said something was well almost a treat..not a real treat..more like candy corn. Hrumph. Don't be selling short the candy corn hee.

Well I guess the spell is broken because I woke up today and checked my bank and found one of those Oops moments where one thing can send your checking account into the land of fees. And I know how banks are ..they don't give back money especially when it's my own fault (damn you Ballys). But I emailed them anyway - and just simply asked for my money back (oh something about being hungry and almost homeless too LOL) and they reversed all my fees. Now that I'm out of the shock of it all..I'm thrilled. Maybe my bad luck is behind me.

Happy that you have broken your spell of bad luck. I have a friend who is fond of saying "if it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all."

As for the bank, I had the same experience a few months back, and was pleasantly surprised that the bank refunded my fees. I gave them a sad story also, but did not ask directly for my money back. So they gave me their spiel about how much more it would have cost me if the checks had bounced. At that point, I did say that this had never happened to me before, and blamed it on Ike costs ( which happened to be true ), and told them that I felt I should get my money refunded. Then they said I should just have told them that I wanted my money back. Duh! Why did they think I was calling? Anyway they gave me my money back and told me that they did have special provisions for Ike victims.

One thing I learned, was what you already knew, the direct approach works best, ask for your money back.

I work customer service in a bank. We are not to offer a waive on fees. The customer has to ask. Sometimes, when I really want to give them a waive, I'll try to get them to ask. I'm always happy to waive fees as long as they haven't had previous waives. We do keep track.

  2. Thanks, FC - that's what I wondered. I'm sending some funds along with laughn, and I'm hoping she may be able to find something that's both in my price range and portable enough to bring back on the plane with her. (Which would sadly exclude one of ClayIzzaQT's beautiful mosaics, which I've always coveted.)

If it's an item licked autographed by Clay - even better!

Hey bottlecap, thanks for the kind words. Just wanted to remind everyone that the very nice folks who oversee the silent auction every year will now ship your items for you at a very reasonable cost. I even framed my mosaic using Plexiglass instead of regular glass to make shipping it easier, safer and lighter/less costly. So bid away!

I hope they advertise that this year. Last year, there were items that I was interested in, but I didn't bid because I knew I couldn't take it back with me on the plane.

I have more money this year since I haven't had to spend any on Clay.

  3. :thsigns053:  This is too hard. :23: :breakpc1: :2: :bigemo_harabe_net-24: I can't decide! :crying1::cry4: What am I gonna do? :scream::ruserious::fncomputer: I find these two impossible to rate. I love them both for entirely different (but equally smutty and :flirtysmile3: and :hubbahubba: reasons.

    :abuser:

    :smokelots: :confused-smiley-014:

    :grrrr:

I'll have to think about it... a lot....while I'm roasting in the sun today watching Carrie play ball.

    :onFire:

    :Ahh:

    Yeah, what she said. Damn.

  4. Teacher needs help here.... I have a song that I've lost a cassette tape for. I downloaded the song but it has a long intro to it that I want to chop off and also it's an mp3 and I need to convert it to CD format cuz I'm pretty sure the CD players at school don't like Mp3s.

It's A You're Adorable. I'd like to have the first 29 seconds chopped off and then have it re-saved so it will play on any CD player :

    Description: A You're Adorable

You can use the following link to retrieve your file:

Can anybody help? I downloaded goldwave...or the trial current version: AVS Audio Editor but it keeps wanting to record this voice over...maybe that means I can't use the trial version?

BTW: What DO you call the standard format for a CD? Is that wav?

I can do it for you. Most people burn mp3s for CDs. You can also use a wav file. Some say the wav has a better sound, but if the original is an mp3, you aren't going to improve the quality.

    ETA: Here it is:
