  1. Oddly enough, drawing on inappropriate surfaces is not something my child ever did, he never was into that sort of creativeness - however, I, when I was in the first grade, learned about the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria, and was suitably impressed enough that I decided to decorate my room with them - and the crayons on the wall didn't seem to add enough "oomph" to what I thought they should look like. So I decided to make them three-dimensional - by using the claw end of a hammer to dig in the wall. Well, the sheetrock turned out to be thinner than I thought, so I decided to make silhouettes instead. Took up an entire wall and all day. I showed my father in delight, and after a period of silence, he sat on the floor with his head in his hands that eventually turned out to be laughter and declared his admiration for my "talent" but suggested more appropriate materials. My father was a much more tolerant parent than I could dream of being. In retrospect, I'm lucky my mother had left by that time, because she would have gone all Robo-Cop on me (and frankly, I would have totally understand that).

KAndre... BWAH!!! So you were unique even as a child. Ultra cool dad, by the way!! What is your creative outlet these days??? :cryingwlaughter:

merrieeee.... oh, thanks! He looks so good and relaxed. 3 more weeks till we see him again performing. Thank Goodness! It's been a llloooonnnggg time since DF in Vegas.

My middle DGD, when 3 yrs old, drew in the corner of her brother's bedroom on the carpet. While my son was cleaning it up (water-based pens), she went downstairs and emptied everything out of the freezer that she could reach. Challenging child! :cryingwlaughter:

  2. I just found this on CH. I don't have time to read it all now but on skimming through it looks like a good and optimistic article.

    Coming out in Middle School

Lotus... that was a long article, but I loved reading every word. It gives me hope. As hard as it is to believe sometimes, young kids are much more accepting of alternate sexuality than ever and I believe that trend will continue.

keeping... O.M.G. That article is both a hoot and scary as h.e.l.l. Women, we've come a long way, baby!!!! :cryingwlaughter:

FromClaygary, Canfly... I felt much the same when Clay came out. Plus, I was mad about all the crap I had taken when defending him... BUT, I am glad to say that has changed totally.

I believe the man is happier than he undoubtedly ever thought he would be when he wrestled with this as a teenager. I get all new-puppy happy when I think about him being in a loving relationship. I know he will still have to cope with idiots, but mostly he must feel so free. He can now openly feel sorry for those who give him a hard time! :cryingwlaughter:

I am so happy for him that he knows who he is and has accepted himself and is looking forward to the future, rather than at the past. How many people can truly say that, gay or straight?

  3. Well, I just voted 8 times in the cookie poll, using my 5 email addresses and my parents Yahoo! email addresses. :hello: I might be able to remember some more old free addresses that may or may not be defunct. We'll see. Has the cookie poll news been spread to other boards?

(Now I really want some cookies...)

    Clayzy... awesome.

I, too, am a ATDW lover. There are only one or two that I skip and that's just because I want to get to the next song, not because I hate them. :cryingwlaughter:

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Everything I Have and Broken Wings and the ballady Here I Come Again. I like RHW, but I have to tell you Clay's slower version at last year's Gala tears me up everytime so I don't listen to the CD version anymore.

  4. Just thought I would share

ncgurrl... thanks for sharing! I'll try not to drool all over it! :cryingwlaughter:

My oldest grandson is ADD. He just started college. He was in a special program thru grade school, but he didn't want to be in HS, so he struggled. We were so proud of him cause as a senior, he got a C average. The three years prior he always flunked classes cause he didn't do the homework, tho he got Bs on the tests.

It's a tough road for these kids and their families, that's for sure.

  5. ldyj... :bdayparty2::bdayparty2:Happy Birthday to you!!!

    :GM_FCA:

muski.... BWAH!!! So you say!!! :cryingwlaughter:

In this drought time, I've decided to increase my awareness of gay issues by working my way through Afterelton.com's "50 best gay movies." Number 3 is Latter Days, and I like it so much I thought I'd share. It's a story about a young missionary coming to terms with his gayness (and falling in love) in relation to a religion and family that says it's a sin and he'll burn in hell. I can't help but think Clay went through some of the same torment (even though he says otherwise). Anyhow, I watched it on NetFlix instant play if anyone is interested. I'd love to hear what someone else thinks of it.

I watched Shelter too--and liked it also. Why didn't I know there were these kinds of movies out there? A whole world invisible to the straight one?

    Or just me????

wanda... thanks for the info! I have a grandson that I wouldn't be surprised if he is gay. I'd like to also increase my understanding of the gay issues better to help him if I can.

  6. I have been voting on that Tweeterwall poll ever since we found out about it. Will be so glad when it is finally over.

    penquin... :welcome22:

I'm guessing he came in second. That's not bad for someone from season 2 vs the latest season. In fact, that's great! I'm so glad the fandom was positive about this for the most part. That bodes well for the future, I think.

Caro... Kai is a real cutie!!! I can't wait to get home to read your blog. Work won't let me.

Clay can't have gained that much weight from the Decca picture. He just must have looked bigger than the person imagined he would. He was a tiny thing next to Ruben and if that's what most people remember, then, yah, he's gained weight.

Twitter should require that anyone who joins them have a cell phone with a camera! :cryingwlaughter:

  7. ldyj... good luck. Maybe half a day. I have a rule at my office. If you're contagious and come in... you're going right back out that door. Now, the recovery stage when you're just feeling like crap but are no longer contagious, your call. Half day's are encouraged in that stage. JMHO

Talk about bad PR... all that about Fantasia being a diva when she was on Color Purple. All they had to do was let people know about her throat and she would have gotten kudos for sticking it out instead of crucified for being out so much. Geesh!

  8. Found these over at Conclayve:

    From CV via CH

    This dated Sunday

QUOTE ("ncsupack88 at CV")I have it from third hand info that Clay was spotted at The Color Purple in Greensboro Sunday night. Fantasia is starring in the traveling show. From what I understand a male mentioned the sighting so details are limited but he did say he was wearing cargo shorts and sandals so that kinda verifies it for me! Again, that's ALL I know! And forgive me if this is old news!

I'm kind of surprised they hired her after all the shows she missed in NY.

QUOTE ("lindylo at CV")From an interview with Tyra from "The Advocate". She sure loves our guy

QUOTE Any behind-the-scenes scoop on the New York awards ceremony?

Before the show kicked off, I hung out backstage with my good friend Clay Aiken, who presented me with the award. He's such a funny guy, and he loves making fun of me, so it was great to catch up.

justclay... thanks for bringing this over.

I am jellus of Tyra being able to hang with Clay and get made fun of... :cryingwlaughter: I'd let Clay make fun of me anytime.... oh, wait.... I think he has made fun of me... just not from close range. Dang! :cryingwlaughter:
