  1. Welcome newbies!! Fresh blood. Always a good thing.
  2. How about "We Built This City on Rock and Roll." I love that! (Is it the right decade?) ETA: AND "Puff the Magic Dragon!"
  3. Well, considering the comments Clay's voice get if it cracks or he's slightly offkey in one note in the fourth stanza of a song, etc. etc., I'm beginning to understand why so many singers just say the hell with it and lip synch! It takes balls to sing without audio correction! ETA Well....balls and a good voice.
  4. Clay Aiken=Me fan Squared to the nth degree for life! Me, (f$#king math) for life
  5. Lotus I think what Simon really wants is a flash in the pan who can sell millions of CDs for a year or so because of the publicity. Then, Simon will just move on to the next one--get his money and run. That's pretty much the pattern. ETA I think the vault refers to the Claverysity vault. If you''re a member, you can apply for membership and make a donation to access it. I think the yearly signup time is February as I just renewed. E (againt)TA I think the Clackhouse may have a private vault as well.
  6. I don't have a clue what Clay, Reed, James, or Parker think about anything, as I'm not privy to their thoughts. And, I have no thoughts on what is right or wrong for them to do as I think they can pretty much handle their own business. I see that Reed will be performing for 2 months and then have July and August off and return in September--if this is the final tour shedule. SO, I'm hoping that Clay will decide to tour in May and June too--just in case this is a serious romance and he wants to spend July and August with Reed. I'm good with that.
  7. Big HUGE frigging WORD. Have I mentioned that I just want to celebrate Clay???
  8. I think the fan police are often worse than the offenders. CANN seems great to me--no proselytizing that I can see.
  9. Some are suspicious...but, I could be naive...but I agree! I think it's great, and will appreciate it when I'm travelling and can't access the boards. I may eat my words later but sometimes I think we've gotten TOO wary. Uh...suspicious of WHAT??
  10. I'm arriving late to the shores of the Australia conversation, but I visited NZ and Australia and loved them both. When I taught college English, one of the books that I used for my students was The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith, by Keneally. It's a powerful book about racial injustice in Australia and the terrible toll it takes. (I think a movie was made, too, but I haven't seen it.)
  11. It probably wasn't queer..people are used to that..but as she said she used lots of other adjectives..I can't think of them right now..strawberry something or other. Our favorite strawberry fruitcake and rebel belle come to mind. Oh and I think the fans were called queenyboppers. LMAO! Really none of it bothered me cause instead of being said in an insulting way it came across to me as more endearing than anything else. And sorry but some of these actually made me laugh because they are soooo OTT. OMG, I must be totally insensitive as it never even crossed my mind that "strawberry fruitcake" and "rebel belle" were in any way negative. And, I kind of thought "queenyboppers" was cute.
  12. I haven't read comments in the "Queer" article, but I don't think of the word "queer" as necessarily pejorative. Am I to understand from the author's comments that people are taking her to task for the way she writes about Clay's sexual orientation? Jesus. It was bad enough when people rampaged about writers just SUGGESTING he was gay ("queeny" comes to mind) but it seems excessive to quible about terminology at this point if the author is writing something positive. Will the fan pollice never retire???
  13. This is me. It's the clean up that I don't like, even with a dishwasher. Dusting is what I HATE. Seriously. For my Christmas present this year, I gave myself a year free of dusting--I pay somone to dust one hour a week. That's all. Just dust. (I feel so decadent, I can hardly stand it!) It's so worth every penny. I'm just happy as shit!
  14. I guess it is too late to tell you that the Food Network has a 30 minute version... ? ACK!!!!!!! My only consolation is this is one of the best things I've ever cooked and my whole house smells wonderful!!! The 30-minute recipe is a bit different although the basics are similar. I defy anyone to do all that chopping and preparation in 30 minutes.
  15. Southern women are out of their frigging minds!!!!! I just had to get that off my chest. Since I have failed miserably at all diets that involve--you know--actually eating less, I decided to try a new approach. Everyday, I cook something new and exciting and try to eat in moderation--reminding myself that there will be food again tomorrow and it's not going to disappear from the planet. I decided to cook my way through the south--Cajun food, etc. I've just finished ONE AND A HALF hours in the kitchen chopping, sauteeing, etc. some South Carolina (or is it Florida or Gorgia??) dish called County Captain. Jesus Christ--it's not even done! It still has to cook in the oven! This rant is totally Clay-related as my primary motivating force is to live long enough to see Clay recognized as an American icon. F%$k!!! This crap better be good.
  16. Sorry if this has been posted already, but twice is good because it's such a good article: Fascinating Queers: Clay Aiken:Measuring the Man ETA: Scroll down a bit.
  17. Every time Clay changes his hair, I think he looks great. I like that he keeps changing his looks--gives us something to look forward to and chat about. It's that face I really love.
  18. Taste in music is really subjective. I like some of Clay's songs better than others because I like the SONGS better. (There's just NO WAY in hell I would ever like "The Girl from Ipanema" no matter how great Clay sang that loatheome song.) The problem arises when people act as though there's a moral issue involved in singing a particular song and bitches people get on their high horses and start blaming RCA, Clay's lack of ambition, etc. etc. etc. ad nauseum or think there's some conspiracy at work. Small rooms sometimes need smaller songs. Clay's choice for what he sings--not ours.
  19. If I want perfection, I listen to a CD. If I want heart, I listen to Clay singing live. I love when he forgets the words. It's so endearing.
