  1. Wouldn't it be great to have a world in which people could just be accepted as they are without labels--too pretty, too handsome, not handsome enough, ugly as shit? Who decides these things? Why does it matter at all? I've seen pictures of Clay that made me laugh because they were far from flattering (and you should see some of MY pictures!) (OMG, and some of his outfits!!!), but it never occurred to me that this was a failing on Clay's part or that he needed to fix his hair differently or wear or not wear makeup or throw away his beloved frayed cargo shorts or that--because of a picture--I should leave the fanhood.

This just seems bizarre to me.

Who knows WHY Clay is wearing makeup (or not)--I think there is ample evidence that he throws on his clothes and doesn't shower at the theater---as he has come out of the SD for weeks on end with wighead. So, should we now have shower police to make SURE he takes off all his makeup before he dares let anyone take a picture of him? Will it make him less gay if he never lets anyone see him with makeup?

    Is that the point?

  2. Maybe I don't follow clay as much as others..but just how often have we seen the man when he was Clayton Aiken and not Clay Aiken. And even if we pull out our trigabytes of photos that is STILL only .0005 *yes that's my number and I'm sticking to it* of his life. Clay has always done a lot of stuff with his looks - even before idol. I just don't read him as a man so insecure as to be "sad" but to each their own thoughts. I especially can't look at some kid's reaction to teasing and apply it to him to day. I hated being tall when I was growing up so I slumped a lot. Now I stand tall and proud even when I'm standing next to Scarlett hee.. Every tour he does is work. Every magazine article is work. Every appearance he makes is work. Every spamalot he does is work and there is no 3.5 seconds limit he has to remove makeup. I just don't know him when he isn't working. And maybe even going out where there could be papparazi may mean work to him. However if he is a man that likes make up, then why is that a horrible thing. Do women wear makeup because they have hangups or because it makes them look better and is ok for women because that's the societal norm?

And finally do people really think that if Clay mans up he will become more accepted? Although I'm not one to care what bloggers adn tabloids and mean spirted people say. I actually think his talent is recognized and he is accepted more than the fans give him credit for being.

This is the reason you are the Big Tomato!

The world is full of mean-spirited judgmental people. I'd just as soon they didn't clutter up the Clay Nation--which should be a place for fun and love and fantasy.

  3. CG I thought I read that only oine person approached Reed. Is that not correct? Did a number people do that? If so, then I'm outraged along with you--but if it was only one or two nutcases, well, that's pretty much to be expected. Out of all the people in attendance, you would expect a few lunatics.

Clay's career--I'm not sure that I see eye to eye with you on this as it seems to me as though his career is going along very well. He has had a very good run on Broadway--with good reviews--and that's nothing to sneeze at. A-listers frequently do Broadway runs to garner legitimacy for their talents--so I think that his run has served him well. I don't think there's much advantage to any public figure to take time out of the public eye. I remember reading that Garth Brooks built a following by touring non-stop for about 4 years. Whatever he decides--I'm SO there.

As for Clay looking like a girl--I'm resisting the temptation to say anything non-PC, but I'm laughing very hard at the effort it's taking me. :hahaha:

(I would love him in drag.)

  4. Public service announcement: In honor of Clay's breast exam.

(Sorry I don't know the author)

For years and years they told me,

    Be careful of your breasts.

Don't ever squeeze or bruise them.

    And give them monthly tests.

So I heeded all their warnings,

    And protected them by law.

    Guarded them very carefully,

And I always wore my bra.

After 30 years of astute care,

    My gyno, Dr Pruitt,

Said I should get a Mammogram

"OK," I said, "let's do it."

"Stand up here real close" she said,

(She got my boob in line),

"And tell me when it hurts," she said,

"Ah yes! Right there, that's fine."

    She stepped upon a pedal,

I could not believe my eyes!

A plastic plate came slamming down,

    My hooters in a vise!

My skin was stretched and mangled,

    From underneath my chin.

My poor boob was being squashed,

    To Swedish Pancake thin.

    Excruciating pain I felt,

    Within it's viselike grip.

A prisoner in this vicious thing,

    My poor defenseless tit!

"Take a deep breath," she said to me,

Who does she think she's kidding?!?

My chest is mashed in her machine,

    And woozy I am getting.

"There, that's good," I heard her say,

    (The room was slowly swaying.)

"Now, let's have a go at the other one."

    Have mercy, I was praying.

It squeezed me from both up and down,

It squeezed me from both sides.

I'll bet SHE'S never had this done,

    To HER tender little hide.

Next time that they make me do this,

    I will request a blindfold

I have no wish to see again,

    My knockers getting steam rolled.

If I had no problem when I came in,

    I surely have one now.

If there had been a cyst in there,

    It would have gone "ker-pow!"

This machine was created by a man,

Of this, I have no doubt.

I'd like to stick their "you know what's" in

    there,

And see how they come out!!

OK gals, now that you have had your laugh, remember...

    Breast Cancer Awareness...

Go have those boobs checked out and stay healthy!

Pass the message on to your mothers, sisters, daughters, aunts,

  5. I think that people who want to leave the fandom because Clay touches a woman's boobs (when she clearly is laughing and doesn't appear to mind) should feel free to leave. (Aside from the fact that these were probably intended as private pictures!!) Why stay and be upset? No point in raining on other's parade.

There are lots of other singers out there. Leaving is not a moral issue--just a preference.

  6. Please, PLEASE, those of you who were there--give us every little tiny detail about Clay, Reed, the crowd, the reaction, the SD, the crowd singing, the reactions of the audience, the reactions of the other performers, the looks on Clay's face, etc. etc. etc.

    No pressure though.

  7. Annabear My friend and I saw Lion King and Billy Elliot--both flatout great!--when we were in NY and Clay in NC for the weekend. We couldn't get tickets to Wicked (unfortunately).

Smitten Looking forward to having you in CA! There are LOTS of jobs for CNAs in CA, so you won't have to worry. If you don't like the job you have, you can always get another. And there are colleges close by if you're still going to school. After you're here for a year and establish residency, community college fees are about $26 per unit (cheaper than most states).
