Good Morning Everyone, Geez...you go to bed, you miss all the good convos. Having been at the OFC the last couple of days, it appears that the majority of the strugglers have left...at least I didn't see the any of the usual suspects. Don't read the comments to Clay's blogs. As far as discussing the negative aspects of the fandom; I think discussion is good...too much in this fandom is swept under the rugs or relegated to PM's; as Couchie if more boards allowed open discussion, the whole FMB situation would not have gotten as out of hand as it did. Guidelines and rules are great, but if they stifle discussion instead of encouraging it, than you have a problem...this is what is great about this board...we actually have the freedom to say what we feel...but because of that freedom you have to also own your post and realize that some are going to disagree with you...doesn't mean you are wrong or that you aren't entitled to your opinion...but a good discussion is about back and forth and there will be disagreements. Gerbil wheel discussions are the norm for this fandom and we all have to decide for ourselves whether we want to get on that particular wheel or not...sometimes I do, most times I don't, but when it is slow and there is not a lot of Clay news...the wheel is going to get a work-out. I think it goes way beyond just not being able to accept homosexuality; there is a lot of anger there for some and anger, in my opinion; that seems out of place to feel towards someone you don't even know...a celebrity that you really have no personal connection to. As someone else commented; for some Clay has been their whole world and I think they are just furious with him because he has popped the bubble on their fantasy world. And maybe they were using Clay to escape the reality of what their life is and now have to deal with that reality. Kim

Sorry you are having such a tough time at work...our new fiscal year starts May 1 and we are all wondering what the new budget will look like...we know there are going to be cuts. There have been so many businesses that have closed in our town and foreclosures which means less property tax and less money for the library. I know your job is not easy and I honestly don't have any advice except take it a day at a time and to give you one of these :thbighug-1: Kim

Speculation is that the two part pilot will actually be two shows and Clay's show will air as schedule...anyway, I am not changing the countdown unless we get an official change in air date. Kim

It is amazing how many of us were technologically challenged and then Clay Aiken came along and suddenly we learning things we didn't think possible. I knew nothing about computers...I was pretty excited when I typed in the address for the Fox website and actually found the Bolt board. And the very first video I ever downloaded was Invisible from St. Paul...probably the first bit of clack...it was sideways and I remember leaning over to try and watch it...but so excited because I actually figured out how to do it myself! The best was when I found all the AI videos at the Clayboard...I was a downloading fool! Kim

I loved Clay on AI2, and was so disappointed that he didn't win. But, I was computor illiterate, and lost track of Clay - plus work kept me too busy to know about or catch him on TV. Then, I retired in 2006, just when ATDW came out. When I listened to the album, I thought, wow, he still sounds great(actually, even better), and he looks so different(and hawt). Well, I caught up with his career online, and discovered that he was more than just a singer. He went through so much, and he was still such a caring, compassionate guy - he was someone special! I joined his fan club, and eventually found this board. Yeah! Ok, done with long, boring story. Not boring at all, glad to have you here. I think the most interesting stories are from those who discovered Clay after AI. (not that any of the above stories were boring, LOL.) Kim

Nat Tour - Rockford, Illinois...I was fairly new to the boards and didn't really know anyone to go to concerts with and I wanted to go to this one so bad..I was on RHT at the time and mentioned during chat that I wanted to go to the concert but didn't have a way to get there ( I don't do expressways) and promptly got a PM offering me a ride. I was speechless that this total stranger was offering me a ride to a concert...took me about 2 seconds to accept the offer...I went online and bought a ticket and the rest is history. My kids thought I was totally nuts getting in a car with a total stranger...got the whole "dangers of meeting people online" speech thrown back in my face. My response...She's a Clay fan...nuff said. I think that has been the most fun, just meeting all the fans; matching a screenname to a face...nothing like meeting someone for the first time; telling them your screenname and they immediately give you a big hug and hello because they know you even though they never met you and vice versa. Last year at Sterling Heights I met a couple of ladies and the first thing one of them said to me when I introduced myself was "I've wanted to meet you for so long"...that is what is special about the fandom. I had only been here for a couple of months and met Couchie, Luckiest1, Cindilu, Ldyj and FromClaygary at Merrillville in 2007 and it was just like meeting old friends. I consider myself to be a pretty shy person in real life, but get around Clay fans and that shyness seems to disappear...it is just so comfortable. Kim
