  1. I am totally confused. Are we talking about Tara or Tyra? And if Tyra, then that would be Tyra Banks, right?
  2. Do you have the link? I can't find it. ETA: What is the 'triangle' as mentioned by Clay in this YT video?
  3. O MG Gibby, that's too many sizzling hawt pics of Clay in one post, do you want my PC to catch fire?
  4. I suspect this story has been circulating for a while but I have only just read it for the first time and, of course, I thought of Clay because it's basically about inclusion, and what a gift THAT is to everyone involved, not just to the child who is at the center of this heartwarming story.
  5. http://todaysfunnybone.googlepages.com/babypics "Baby" pics before they were famous! Wait 'til you see TINA TURNER!!!!
  6. I hear ya.... because I know why Clay's AI performance of Unchained Melody is my favourite version.... it's the way he sings certain words, and most especially the word "darling'". It's been sung by zillions and The Righteous Brothers always owned that song until Clay came along, at least in my view. I still love the Righteous Brothers' version but just not the way I simply love Clay's.
  7. Nothing is EVER worth compromising your integrity for. A clear conscience is a soft pillow (I think I heard that mentioned in LTS).
  8. It won't work for a lot of people, and that would include me because I am not a merchandise person now ... but 20 years ago, I might have been interested in having something that I could hold in my hand, especially if, for example, it was a booklet the size of the CD and it contained pics and stories from the artist about the making of the album. Just something that is EXTRA to just the CD. Or a bonus CD with interviews etc with the artist about the making of the album, something that is NOT available as a download. For example, when I bought my Dreamgirls DVD, I chose to pay an extra $10 so that I could get the one with the bonus DVD, about the making of Dreamgirls and it included auditions etc. It was interesting. The record companies need to have some serious brainstorm sessions. The tragedy is that if CD sales keep dropping, fewer records will be made because all kinds of costs have to be met. There are so many people involved behind the scenes that need a paycheck too. The way things are going, the only way artists will be able to earn a decent living is through live gigs, be they large concerts or small intimate venues. As an aside, more and more artists are producing their own CDs and selling their work on MySpace. I know of a few Aust Idol finalists who are doing just that. And a record store I was talking to told me the same thing.
  9. That's why I feel that it might boost physical CD sales if quality merchandise is part of the deal, i.e. something they can't download! The phenomenon with Miley Cirus in terms of huge $$ being generated is because the target market for merchandise is absolutely massive. Movies+TV+music+merchandise... what a gold mine! The electronic age has had a similar effect on book shops as well. So many bookshops have closed down, and I notice my library isn't as popular as it was 15-20 years ago. I used to collect reference books, I spent a small fortune building my reference library at home, and I finally got rid of them because anything I need to know, I now use the net.
  10. Some interesting stuff at Wikipedia about Clive. Here's an extract. I would be very interested to see how well Whitney's album sells. For those who don't know much about Leona Lewis, I followed her progress on the X-Factor via YouTube and she was just incredible, and often described as a cross between Whitney and Mariah. She and Il Divo did an amazing performance of "Somewhere" on Simon Cowell's This is Your Life. (Simon has openly stated that Leona Lewis is his favourite contestant of all time)
  11. I wonder if JHud had anything to do with the delays with her album. She would have been in a position to have some say in the creativity and content of her first album, since she would no longer have been chained to the Idol machine, unlike the other Idols released albums while they were still under contract to American Idol.
  12. That Amazon video of Clay in the Studio recording On My Way Here is now on YouTube PermaSwooned . .. so THAT's what's going on with Jennifer Hudson's album? I love Jennifer Hudson almost as much as I love Fantasia. Dreamgirls is the ONLY DVD movie I have actually bought for myself. I thought they'd get her album out to capitalize on all that momentum Jennifer had going last year.
  13. Did anyone watch Rock the Cradle? My only interest in it is that Chloe, Olivia Newton-John's daughter, is in it. I hope she does well but while she can sing a little and sounds good when doing a duet with her mother, she really doesn't have the ability to carry a song on her own. I really feel for her because she's had a really tough time in her young life. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tebrN_ydsHU...feature=related I can't watch it because it is not screened in Oz, at least not on free TV.
  14. Is there any reason for me to not expect to be able to buy the album via download?
  15. I HATE it when people forward bogus warnings...but this one is real so please read carefully. If someone comes to your front door saying they are conducting a survey on deer ticks and asks you to take your clothes off and dance around with your arms up, DO NOT DO IT!! IT IS A SCAM! They only want to see you naked! I wish I'd gotten this warning yesterday. I feel so stupid now.
  16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PKRLxwZnok This 13 year old boy blew everyone away yesterday on BGT. Unbelievable voice, but bullied at school since age 6. Unlike someone we know, he has no confidence in himself. This kid needs to read LTS. (I've never seen Simon Cowell's face look this serious about an audition)
  17. http://www.tvguide.com/celebrities/clay-ai...hotos/196258/17 Speaking of TV Guide, is there a link to source scanned copies of these TV Guide interviews?
  18. You guys kill me!!!!! I just HAD to go and research those wiggly fingers and the eyebrow expressions!!! There's nothing else more important for me to do... um... yeah...
  19. I can't click on this from work, but Clay only sang UM once at a David Foster gala, so any version that you find of that should be the right performance. There was more than one clack gatherer there, so there are probably multiple versions, but they should all be the same performance. I just love the way he ended the song, and I love the slower tempo. Really allowed him to feel the music, IMO. Hee, now I think I need to go listen on my iPod! It is certainly a beautiful, rich, slow version. I think the glory note would have been better if he had been standing up.
  20. Clay Aiken David Foster Gala Unchained Melody Is this the UM version everyone was talking about, being their favorite version? (I didn't want to assume so because there seems to be numerous David Foster Gala videos on You Tube. Liney23, please don't hold back, please - DON'T be afraid to say what you REALLY think!
  21. Simon wanted Ruben to win though.... I watched the Tonight Show just before the Finale... when Katie Couric had Simon on as a guest. And she asked him who he thought would win and he said quite confidently "Clay". But then he said if he was voting, he'd vote for Ruben. (LOL that show was hilarious, Katie did a great impersonation of Pawler, with the hand-clapping thing Pawler does etc etc). So what happened regarding KLo, so that we aren't supposed to like her anymore??? ARRRRRGGGGHHHH...I live on the wrong side of the border again...its not accessible to Canadians...sniff. Drat! I live in the wrong country too!
  22. I love Clay's Vincent as well. Quite honestly, it is only through reading these threads that I am finding out things... like for instance that Vincent was not his personal choice and that he hated the song. So I am now speculating but I wonder if he may have had personal reasons for why he didn't like Vincent. He had personal reasons for why Solitaire held a lot of meaning for him, but he was open about that, and mentions it in LTS. I hate to be boring but there isn't any song that Clay has done that I dislike. As I have said before, I may not absolutely love it, but I still listen to it because I always love his phrasing. Once I've heard a Clay Aiken cover, I no longer want to listen to the original. And that's saying a LOT because I use to be a huge fan of Art Garfunkle's BOTW and Neil Sedaka's Solitaire. It would seem that even Sedaka himself prefers Clay's version to his own!!!! KAndre, I am STILL watching your DVDs, over and over, because each time, I notice something I previously missed. Good thing I saved them to my USB HD otherwise they'd be worn out by now! I've been coping with dial-up for two weeks now because my ISP is so darn slow at upgrading my broadband. Hence, your DVD's have been a life-saver in terms of easing my YouTube withdrawal symptoms!
  23. I don't like Nigel. I find him tacky and unprofessional, regardless of how successful he is in this cut-throat business. I thought his comments about Clay's appearance were ridiculous, especially the way in which he expressed them. I also saw him as a judge on another show and felt he was better placed BEHIND the scenes and especially behind the camera - Clay's totally eye-candy compared to him. (Yeah, I am being a B**** ... er..rhymes with witch.... LOL) And with the Vincent performance, fancy making a contestant CHANGE the song just an hour or so before his performance. Sounds like a conspiracy to me, especially with the judges then all running with it and making a big deal in case no one noticed!! Ah well, that's all water under the bridge now I guess but it couldn't have been fun for Clay or his supporters at that time.
  24. Gosh, I thought everyone loved Unchained Melody, I agree with Simon that it is one of the best songs ever and I've been known to listen to Clay's version of it on repeat!! Hate KLo? OK, fill me in .... what happened? I am still under the blissful impression that she, Ruben and Clay are devoted friends, the TEAM, as Ruben called them in an interview I watched on YouTube long ago.. NO KIDDING! I could NOT believe they did that! Ironically, the 2nd series for Oz Idol also showed all 3 judges doing a 3-way hand clasp when the winner was announced. Although I was thrilled with the result of the show, I felt it was totally insensitive to the runner-up and his family. Again ironically, the runner-up went on to become a big pop star and the winner's career took a major dive and was dropped by SonyBMG. (The runner-up's fans also reacted the same way as Clay's supporters did, following the close of the Finale)
