  1. Does anyone know anything about the ebook version of Learning to Sing? I've read the hardcopy (borrowed from the library since I couldn't find a copy at the bookshops here), and I've got the audio book, BUT I'd like the ebook version IF it has at least as many pics as the hardcopy did. I don't want it if it is text only. Oh, and my library only had the paperback. Did the HARDback copy have MORE pics than the paperback? LOL I wish Marie Osmond would do a life-life doll of Clay when he was about 4 or 5, and capture that gorgeous face. Is there a link that is an organized 'photo album' of pics of Clay since he was an infant? I really love his baby pics, and those cheeky pics of him as a little boy. I thought he was adorable, and sometimes I can see that cheeky expression in the pics we see of him today. ETA: I've been browsing at Amazon.com..... I notice some other Clay books by authors I've not heard of. Are any of them recommended?
  2. That is what I suspect as well, as I cannot believe that someone old enough to qualify for American Idol didn't have basic lateral thinking skills - i.e. Julia sat down and sulked instead of doing the most obvious thing.... calling KimC's room and leaving a message there. Actually, I am sure the arrangements were to meet in KimC's room in an hour... so if I heard correctly, then Julia was the one totally at fault and it would have been easier for her to track down Kim than the other way around. Yeah, surely it HAD to be set up to make the show more interesting. Surprisingly though, the audience VOTED Julia in!!! I thought a couple of others in her group were better. There was a lot of talent that year.
  3. OK, I got it now. I just didn't remember seeing Carmen in Groups 1-4. I realize now that for the Wildcard group, the judges also selected some members they had previously cut at Glendale. That's where I got a bit confused as I thought all the Wildcards were from the first 4 semifinal groups. I watched so much of AI2 at the same time that I got totally confused with so many faces! While it seemed totally weird that Simon chose Carmen for his Wildcard pick (especially since IMO her performance was the worst in the Wildcard episode) I think he had his mind set on a potential country star. For Season 4, he predicted that Carrie Underwood would not only win but also sell more than anyone else on Idol. Carrie's amazing success is testament to the fact that Simon was looking for a country star although he didn't like country music himself. This is just my view, of course, but I think he thought Carmen might have had that potential because she had the right image. Unfortunately, she just didn't have the talent to compete with the other Idols that made it to the Top 12. I know some of you don't like Kimbermee because of her apparent selfishness, but watching through REWIND, Julia seemed the more self-centered one. I really think the mix-up over the rehearsal was more Julia's fault than KimC's. Overall, I feel Kim's behaviour at times was due to immaturity rather than anything else. LOL like I said, just my opinion. I also thought KimC's voice was closest to being 'up there' with KLO's and Trenyce's, she was certainly better than Vanessa, Julia, and Carmen.
  4. annabear, I mean she was sent home BEFORE the Top 32 were selected. What I am wondering is... did they change their mind and bring her back? Maybe I am jsut muddled! But I am sure I saw her in a line that was cut.
  5. I am doing a rewind of the REWIND series and I am confused. I just noticed that Carmen R. was in the line that was sent home. What happened to get her back in again? I must have been distracted or something but looks like I missed a few things.
  6. Although I am relatively new to the whole Claynation and fandom thing, I am not new to the media in general. Therefore, I always wonder how much I am reading is factual, especially in relation to Clay since so much fiction has been written about him. Unless I hear it from the horse's mouth (Clay, sorry to call you a horse...) I tend to take it with a grain of salt.
  7. http://www.mealopedia.com/ This is a useful link to keep. It gives you recipes whereby you can choose the main ingredients, and select from a list, for example... kid friendly, low GI, low fat, high protein etc. It has a weekly meal planner as well, and then lists all the ingredients you need to shop for in order to create those meals for the week. You have to register, but that's a good thing because once you register your location, it also gives you local stores to shop at, for the ingredients you need. I like the fact that, for instance, if I want ideas for a chicken dish, it will list all the chicken recipes to choose from, and the recipe lists the quantity of ingredients based on how many people you are cooking for.
  8. I enjoyed Grease and I didn't mind his look or hip movements AT ALL! Actually, although I wasn't crazy about his 'outfits' in a couple of episodes, I didn't particularly dislike his appearance in any of them except for his hairstyle for his Group2 semi performance. After that, I thought he looked either interesting or gorgeous, or both!
  9. Ausdon Have a safe and comfortable trip, can't wait to talk to you when you get back! Break-a-leg!
  10. Paddy's pregnant sister was in a terrible car accident and went into a deep coma. After being in the coma for nearly six months, she wakes up and sees that she is no longer pregnant. Frantically, she asks the doctor about her baby. The doctor replies, 'Ma'am, you had twins.... a boy and a girl. The babies are fine, However, they were poorly at birth and had to be christened immediately so your brother Paddy came in and named them. The woman thinks to herself, ' Oh suffering Jesus, no, not me brother he's a fecking clueless idiot ... Expecting the worst, she asks the doctor,' well, what's my daughter's name?' 'Denise' says the doctor. The new mother is somewhat relieved, 'Wow, that's a really beautiful name,' I guess I was wrong about my brother', she thought....'I really like Denise Then she asks, ' What's the boy's name?' The doctor replies ' Denephew '
  11. If you're over 40 and need some tips on exercise, this might work for you: EXERCISE FOR PEOPLE OVER 40 Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side. With a 5-lb potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax. Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato sacks. Then try 50-lb. potato sacks and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I'm at this level.) After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each of the sacks.
  12. Yes I was surprised too, BUT it seems to be that way for a lot of talented writers, who can express themselves with such sensitivity and clarity in writing but cannot articulate what they feel in speech. Then there are those who take someone else's work and give the performance it deserves, but they cannot actually create the masterpiece themselves. Then there's Pawler, who can't do either!
  13. Mother: 'Hello?' Daughter: 'Hi Mom. Can I leave the kids with you tonight?' Mother: 'You're going out?' Daughter: 'Yes.' Mother: 'With whom?' Daughter: 'With a friend.' Mother: 'I don't know why you left your husband. He is such a good man.' Daughter: 'MOM, I didn't leave him. He left me!' Mother: 'You let him leave you, and now you go out with anybodies and nobodies.' Daughter: 'MA, I do not go out with anybody. Can I bring over the kids?' Mother: 'I never left you to go out with anybody except your father.' Daughter: 'There are lots of things that you did and I don't.' Mother: 'What are you hinting at? Daughter: 'Nothing. I just want to know if I can bring the kids over tonight..' Mother: 'You're going to stay the night with him? What will your husband say if he finds out?' Daughter: 'MA, its My EX husband. I don't think he would be bothered. From the day he left me, he probably never slept alone!' Mother: 'So you're going to sleep over at this loser's place?' Daughter: 'MOM, He's not a loser.' Mother: 'A man who goes out with a divorced woman with children is a loser and a parasite.' Daughter: 'MA, I don't want to argue; should I bring over the kids or not?' Mother: 'Poor children with such a mother.' Daughter: 'Such a what?' Mother: 'With no stability. No wonder your husband left you.' Daughter: 'ENOUGH MA!!!' Mother: 'Don't scream at me. You probably scream at the loser too!' Daughter: 'Great MA, Now you're worried about the loser?' Mother: 'Ah, so you see, he is a loser and I spotted him immediately.' Daughter: 'Goodbye, mother.' Mother: 'Wait! Wait! Don't hang up! When are you bringing them over? ' Daughter: 'I'm not bringing them over! I'm not going out!' Mother: 'If you never go out ...how do you expect to meet anyone?"
  14. I have no idea which Ben Franklin this is supposedly quoted from As Ben Franklin said: "In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in water there is bacteria. "To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine... and those who don't. In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 litre of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. coli) - bacteria found in feces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop. However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting. Remember: Water = Poop, Wine = Health. Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of sh*t. There is no need to thank me for this valuable information: I'm doing it as a public service
  15. I wonder who was responsible for Clay's "look" when he did his Group 2 semi-final performance "Open Arms". Clay has always had these same features, it's not like he had plastic surgery. So if he can look this stunning..... ???? That early Season 2 'look' and the official pic they used at the AI site are the only ones of Clay that I really REALLY don't like. I have liked all the other pics I have seen of him. Didn't Simon say at one stage that he was "ugly"?
  16. <sigh> I wanted dark, DARK hair, but I'll take eye-candy any.which.way it comes!
  17. The tour book royalty was split 12 ways, since they shared, 12ways? So Vanessa, Joshua and Corey also got their share of it even though they were not on the tour? but the individual merchandise went to one idol. Clay really cleaned up here. You mean Clay's merchandise was the most in demand, so he earned the most? Hm, that would make sense of course! I hope Ruben is still making a good living, even if it is no where what he should have been making. While I think about it... when they were recording "God Bless USA" in the studio, I noticed that Kim Locke was missing. What happened there? Was her name included on the CD? Maybe her vocals were added later? I love watching that video - there are several versions of it I noticed but I like the one where they are all really emotional.
  18. The Idols get paid $100K to be on the tour? Are you serious? Is that what the AI2 Idols were paid, and is that what Vanessa and Josh missed out on? Geesh, I ask a lot of questions....
  19. William Hung 'inspired' a lot of people to get their 15 minutes of fame. If you were good but not quite good enough, the public never hears about you. But if you are so so bad that you are "good" entertainment, the show will use you the way "you" use them. Down Under, we had our very own William Hung, he emerged shortly after Hung did. Many skeptics think that unlike William Hung, whose appeal was, in part, due to his wide-eyed innocence, Aussie Flynn manipulated his way into the show. And to a point, he achieved his 15 minutes of fame because he got to sing at the Sydney Opera House on the Finale night, backed up by a bevy of beauties dancing around him. If you can stand it, here's the vid:
  20. I want one of those! (If you don't like dogs, don't bother!)
  21. Hm thanks, I didn't know that. I am not really interested in Faye herself, just what her thoughts are about how far her son has come since 2003. I did note that his family and friends are something he likes to separate, just as he told Tyra, he is Clayton to the people in his life pre Idol, and he is Clay to the people he met post-Idol, and that he doesn't like to be called Clayton by people who didn't know him before American Idol. This made me realise how much he wanted to preserve what he had before, as a private person, not a celebrity. I was very surprised that LTS revealed as much as it did, but I guess it would not have been possible to write about the strong influences in his life without mentioning them.
  22. I don't take polls seriously either, but I just like my fav artist to have the most votes, even if it is manipulated!! And sometimes I know that just one or two fans can determine who wins the poll! I just want to see Clay at the big events so that he gets the exposure for his album sales, since he will be releasing an album around that time.
  23. I guess you are right playbiller, I am not as advanced as you guys in terms of Clay's position in the grand scheme of things. But if they pay him enough, would he do it? I agree it is a job for the lesser Idols, but since when does AI care about the individual contestants when it comes to grabbing the audience? At least from my experience in Oz, they only care about what puts bums on seats and brings in advertising dollars. Clay did say that going back to Idol would be like going back to high school... i.e. he doesn't attend the football games at his own school any more. But if they asked him nicely, since he is one of their biggest star 'students', would he do it? Just asking, I have no clue!
  24. Have you guys been voting at the AI site? If this determines who they will have on the red carpet for the finale, then I'm voting daily....
  25. The last few months, I have spent pretty much any spare (and not so spare) time filling my head with Clay stuff. And one thing often comes to mind.... I keep wondering how Fay Parker is taking all this. I mean, imagine if you came to this forum and the topic of discussion, day-in-day-out, was your first baby boy, and all these women YOUR AGE are swooning over your kid. And this is just ONE board. What about all those other sites, the constant media bits and pieces.... how DOES Fay Parker feel about all this?
