  1. Yeah I also watched the ANSUN by this years top 3...and that was really a train wreck. David A.s sang Rubens part, his voice...was totally drowned out by the band and so weak...can;t hold a candle to Ruben's version...cook sang clays...had more power but was so pitchy...again...paled in comparison. Even the choreography was very lame...as lame as Ruben and clay;s...but at least they looked like having fun...this three looked uncomfortable.

  2. Couchie's girl Fantasia just rocked American Idol--she was the bomb, y'all. She's a performer fully grown. Bo was good last week too. Although I'd have loved to see Clay, I think they've chosen well with those two. People who haven't had the "success" of Carrie or Kelly or Clay, for that matter, but are talented and polished artists.

ITA...I was reading another boards AI thread and the post about Fantasia was just really bad...(don;t check it out Couchie) so I watched it on you tube and I didn't think it was bad at all for what it was. It is exactly what my girls have in their ipods...the beat was outrageous...she was outrageous and she gave that performance her all. Its not really my type of music because I like things more melodic but it was very hip and hot for the dance crowd I think. Very high energy. about her looks...I thought her outfit was classy, the red hair was not to my liking but sure was an attention getter. I think Simon;s WTF face was about her hair...

  3. I;ve been thinking about this AI year...

For me the two contestants that really got to me were Jason and Brooke. I think its because they seem the most raw...innocent... BUT as jmh pointed out, the contestants also needs some improvement, some growth and Jason and Brooke couldn;t do that. So now that they are out of it, I really couldn't care less who wins.

  4. Clay's self-depreciation? It doesn't bother me any more than my over-the-top confidence - it's just who we are. If he cringed defensively while doing it, I could see people wanting it to stop - but he does it with all the panache of a person who truly knows his worth. He likes being funny and frankly comedy tends to zing somebody and he's a fairly equal opportunity zinger - ask Angela or Quiana. You wanna cringe-worthy self-depreciation? Look at David A on Idol this year - if I watched him for more than 30 seconds at a time, he would drive me insane.

Frankly, the only reason the "we" bugs is because the online fandom goes on and on and on and on about it - no one else cares. Just like the Claymate thing.

I coulda swore he's been on the Good Day thingie before....

We may not agree too much on music but you often speak for me KAndre...that I don;t need to post much...I think thats why I am a minion...

To me his self depracation is not a characteristic that I tolerate...its one that I love cos as Kandre says it does not come from a low self esteem but from a position of pride and confidence. He acts this way because he knows that his success comes from his worth as a person, his talent and is not dependent on the packaging. I find that totally sexy. I also think that by him saying I am no Justin Timberlake...he is such a great role model cos he tells the world...anyone can be in his position. I love his honesty...his realness...I think if he is any different I wouldn't love and admire him so much.

One LA morning show I remember him being on was co-hosted by that blonde chickie poo named Juliana DePandi or Depanda or something like that? And her co-host might have been Jerry Finicoli? I'm probably only remembering part of this. Juliana was kind of gushy as I remember. And, of course, I cannot remember the name of the show. I

I think Jillian used to be blond right?

Frankly, the only reason the "we" bugs is because the online fandom goes on and on and on and on about it - no one else cares.

Nope. That's not why it bugs ME. Could care less about the 'online fandom's' this and that. It bugs ME because it is weird. Just is.

We think it's weird and that's all we're going to say about it right now. :whistling-1:

if you really look at the time he uses we and us...its when he is talking about situation where he didn't make decisions on his own...but when he probably got a lot of advice and collaboration with TC or with his producers. When he talks about his performance he does not say we...I think this comes from his need to give credit to all the people in his team. I know this may not be common but I totally understand where this is coming from.

  5. Annabear..my shoes arrived. Thank you!!

Wow - that was fast! You're welcome. :)

In case I haven't mentioned it before, I work with a bunch of IDIOTS! On what planet is David A. "much better than Clay Aiken"??? :mallet:

I am not suprised about the comparison...but for goodness sake...tone for tone Clay's voice is so much better, has more range and he is more versatile and exciting. He also has tons more confidence and personality. I don't even think its because of David A's age...He seem to be the youngest teen Idol ever when it comes to personality.

So, I asked this question earlier and didn't see it answered. Is this the first time the Good Day LA people have met Clay in person? I'm just wondering if their change in attitude is due to that 'Clay Aiken in real life' shock factor. Not only do people realize he's 'that tall', but they also learn he's 'that nice, that charming, that smart, that funny, that handsome, that charismatic'. Seems like he managed to charm Jillian. Hope that creates a different reaction from her (from all of them) in the future when his name comes up on-air.

I made some security changes on my NYC photo album which should make it easier to navigate. One thing I can say about SmugMug...their customer service is excellent.

I remember Clay having an interview with them before. I am pretty sure he met Jillian before. But I'm not sure if its in person or one of those satellite feed deals.

oh finally heard WINY...I like the song and his voice...but don;t like the dated production and instrumentation. Even if this was done for MOAM it was still very old fashioned...IMO, no wonder they didn't add it.

I for one am glad that WINY was included as a bonus track because I love it. You know how some of the extended notes Clay sings can just grab your heart? That's how the last "eyes" of "When I need love I just close my eyes" affects me. Maybe WINY was included for those who do love an old fashioned song.

So when was it recorded? Back in 2003?

Oh I am glad we have it as an extra too...sorry if it seem like I didn't really like it. I think I should've used the term retro instead of old fashioned. I just understand why it was not part of MOAM because they wanted MOAM to appeal to a younger audience at the time, thats why all the covers that were supposed to be part of it was excluded.

as I said I basically like the song and his voice was great...love the fade out and the wailing he was doing at the end, I was only bugged by some of the instrumentation. I also think he didn't include it on ATDW cos Clay really wanted re-invent the covers he did in that CD and this production didn't sound very new. In the end...I won't be skipping it ...and I'm glad we finally have it. I also think he did To Love Somebody at the time. I seem to remember an interview where he said he was recording this in Miami...or was I dreaming that...it seem so long ago!

  7. I think it is more normal for people NOT to follow an idol after their season after it is over than to follow them. So it's not surpring that she doesn't know where Ruben is..It's just a TV show for most and once it's over they look forward to the next season. Everybody around me in my life was a Ruben fan. I'm the only one that lost my mind with this whole thing and I still give that credit to my sister because she insisted I watch.

Bottle I think you hit it right on the head. I bet a lot of those outlets that used Clay on their newcasts did it as an Idol feature. Every year Clay gets press because of Idol whether he has something to sale or not.

ITA with you and Bottle...and I think its brilliant that Clay does not actually watch cos quickly it turns back to him or just commentary of the process in general.

IF Clay would sing four songs live I would wish for...OMWH, WIDTL, WOTW, Sacrificial Love...

oh finally heard WINY...I like the song and his voice...but don;t like the dated production and instrumentation. Even if this was done for MOAM it was still very old fashioned...IMO, no wonder they didn't add it.

  8. I loved that GDLA interview...he was very comfortable and natural. I also like how the anchor woman went up to him to say how she loves OMWH...I think it really is reaching out to a lot of people.

yeah they talked about AI but it was a clay centric discussion...it didn't become about the current show but about him and his success.

He really needs his own talk show!!!

I really like this blond look now..

  9. Can someone please post the link to the video again...I kinda lost it.

I really didn't mind the continuity problem because this is not really telling a story...this is just a montage of different videos of Clay on studio interspersed with images of him from his past. IMO continuity is only important if its in a movie where the scene is supposed to be consistent to time a place...but so this is just Clay at different angles at different times. I have seen this kind of thing in a lot of videos and montages.

I actually like the fact that there is no chronological order to the pictures...cos that is just a bit predictable IMO. I see the concept as...this is Clay now...and here are some random shots of how Clay was...see the difference? What I like about this...is the emphasis on Clay the musician...the artist working on his craft. I think that is very important since some in the media seem to forget that he is first and foremost...a musician

  10. SONG OF THE DAY:

So lets talk about what really matters...The CD!!!

    hee...

We will start SONG OF THE DAY feature on FCA. We will put up a specific song from OMWH that people can discuss...or comment through the day or even after this day if they need to.

THIS IS NOT MEANT TO TAKE OVER MAIN TOPICS. This is just one thing we can discuss here on Main so don't hesitate to talk about anything else. We just request that if you are going to comment on the song that you put a heading or label on it so people can easily find the pertinent posts.

We decided to do the songs in alphabetical order so it will be

    As Long As We're Here

    Ashes

    Everything I Don't Need

    Falling

    Forget I Ever Knew You

    Grace of God

    Its in Everyone of Us

    Lover All Alone

    On My Way here

    Sacrificial Love

    Something about Us

    The Real Me

    Weight of the World

    When I Need you

    Where I Draw the Line

after OMWH...we can talk about MOAM songs to compare and contrast. From there we will see where we go...maybe video of the day?

SO the Song of the Day is...AS LONG AS WE'RE HERE!!!

here is a YouTube link of the song and lyrics...

  11. I was not going to watch but I thought I would check out David C's performance...First time...was not bad. I think that was the best he ca do with that...but it was so short that it failed to really create a moment.

Why am I not surprised that KAndre does not like Switchfoot...who I love...hee . I was so eager to see David C cover them...and blech...that was just sooo bad. He was pitchy..

Then I checked out his last performance...ok, this is just a bit too much with those strings behind him like that. I actually found the arrangement interesting but he was SOOOOO pitchy again...really ruined it for me.

  12. Well, all I gotta say is......at first, when I encountered this: bn242085-1.jpg or this: scream2.jpg or this: time_disgust_image.jpg , this secret-keepers-pic.gifon the boards, I would feel like this: scaredkitty.jpg or this: hair.jpg. After I while, I could sorta ignore that stuff and look like this: toohappykitty.jpg but now, I just stay in my happy place and look like this laughcat2.jpg oops! sekrit eHP pic - wait! more like this: happygirl.jpg

    BWAH!!! djs...

ok...last call for Banner with new pix!!! I will put up the short lived banner of 00lsee tonight...

BTW. we were talking about Play's suggestion of extended discussion of OMWH songs.

We thought we would have a song for the day here on the Main thread. That means people can comment on said song all day long ...we don;t all have to be listening to it together. We might continue this with having a song discussion from each of the album and go on from there.

We can start this tomorrow...just not sure if we should do it by track order or alphabetically or random picks...so watch out for it...all we ask is that when making comments on the song for the day that people put a label on it so it will be easy to pick out the posts for this discussion.

  13. Regarding song demographics, I have now heard from two 20-somethings who aren't Clay fans and both loved OMWH and are going to download it. In fact, my 20-something DIL has heard the entire CD and thinks OMWH is the best cut on it. It strikes me funny that the one we're calling boring is the most interesting to my younger friends and family.

(my bolded) Not me. I don't think it's boring at all. It passed my head bopping test on the first listen. I'm totally content with OMWH being the lead single. Of course, I pretty much love the whole CD, so I don't hear boring anywhere.

Can anyone explain the difference between the HDD numbers and Soundscan to me??

HDD just tracks the numbers by getting the reports from stores but the exact numbers are not always submitted and some outlets don't give the numbers. Soundscan gather their data straight from the check out point so is more accurate. But still some outlets are not added to the overall count like Christian Bookstores...if I remember correctly.

  14. Ok, who is the bad Clay fan who failed to buy the extra 7641 CDs that would have put him ahead of Toby Keith???

Okay, okay, it was me. I ordered too late and they'll be here later this week! :cryingwlaughter:

And, I'm interested to know how many women got a Toby Keith CD for Mother's Day. Who knew??

ETA: And since it's speculation day, try this one on for size: What if HDD doesn't pick up QVC numbers and those are added in by Soundscan? Just positing a question. Backing out softly now.

Now that would be interesting... I just wonder if QVC counts the item sold when ordered or when shipped? So maybe it would make a difference if some of their orders shipped this week?

YAY for 92K...mush better than earlier predicted and I woudl love it if the final gets him into to the 6 figures...

    :00003653: bookwhore

  15. oooh, look, Clay is in a dark and expensive forrest!

BWAH!! It did sort of look like that!

The song seems sooooooo abbreviated. Couldn't they have cut a few minutes of those headlines and let him sing more of the song????

But damn he was cute and funny and adorable and it was far too short!!!!

This is the same version he sung on the view and GMA...TV always have time constraints...

He really looked good the song sounded great

    He was sooo entertaining.

I want clay and Jack in another animated movie...hee

Hee the band all looks like the have similar hair and black outfits...sure a contrast with Clay;s blond hair...

  16. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

    that was too cute!!!

It wasn;t rushed at all...he gets two segment an interview and a song!!!!

I like his interaction with Jack and I need to watch it again

    love his accent

    love his punching

I like rearing about that Macbeth superstition...

he can stay and talk there for EVAH

I always love his leno appearances cos so many funny moments.

hee love the raspberry to the teacher

  17. Hi everyone!

Just popping in to say hello and watch Leno. I see the Leno reports are great. Cause of course our guy Clay is great!!

I am quite excited to see him on my TV!!!!!!

    EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    :nanalove:

Sales are what Jaymes/Clay warned us they would be so I am not surprised and thank her/him for giving me a heads up, cause otherwise I would be more disappointed.

I am looking forward to every single TV appearance and after that every single surprise Clay has in store for us!! I bet the future is bright.

I will be at his fall concert - hopefully at the Gala - and also hopefully at his Christmas concerts, if the good Lord is willing.

    Hugs to all!

    Welcome
