  1. AAAAAACK! I keep forgetting House is not on Tuesday!!!! What happened?

never mind, I forgot about Twop - recaplet up in record time!

Its realy better if you watch it. Check out one of those sites that show past episodes cos the scenes and acting was gut wrenching. Very powerful..IMO

  2. OK, did anyone watch the House finale last night? I cried, and I didn't even like her.

Yikes, I am almost afraid to watch the Criminal Minds finale tomorrow.......who are they going to kill off? :cryingwlaughter:

That was the best House episode ever IMO. Great acting all around and no wonder House Kept following what Wilson wanted, he knew he was at fault. I am sooo happy though that in the end she was just doing a good deed for Wilson and not having some affair or flirtation with House.

So 13 was positive for Huntington's?

  3. SRHP - Soft Rock Hard Place tour - official name of the 2006 summer tour

Soft Rock and Hard Place Tour is what other boards called the 2007 summer tour. In FCA we called it the DCAT tour, Doing Clay Aiken Tour.

    no summer tour on 2006

    Clay tours...

    IT...Independent Tour 2004

NAT...Not a Tour Tour or 2004 solo summer tour

    JNT04...Joyful Noise Tour 04

    JBT...Juke Box Tour 05

    JNT05...Joyful Noise Tour 05

    JNT06...Christmas Symphony Tour 06

DCAT/SRHPT....Doing Clay Aiken Tour/soft rock hard place tour or summer symphony tour 07

    CITH07....Christmas in the Heartland 07

WOW 8 tours in 5 years...

I think there will be at least 1 tour this year

  4. CG...I agree this wasn;t the best Kimmel for me...

I still like the horse thing better...hee

I think what seem different for me was this time...clay was not an active participant of the big joke. In the past he did the sara bit (which seem to be the precursor of I F Matt), the beat up Kimmel bit, the tattoo, the candy hearts, the horse...did I forget anything??? This time the Clay of Clay...he was just watching and it involved the fans which is always cringe worthy. I do think that the fans were directed to be as OTT as can be. This is a very typical Kimmel show humor...get people to act against type ....in such a OTT manner that its obviously a parody...unfortunately for people in the fandom, the behavior was a bit too close to the truth for comfort.

I do think that he is just very tired right now so a bit low in energy. Rachel ray was filmed when he was still in NY so he was still rather fresh. This appearance was right at the end of this promo schedule and I can see the circle around his eyes. I also think they cut off the second verse because without the buid up in instrumentation on the CD...it does sound rather flat and does not really show off his voice...so with this shortened time they probably think its best to make sure the bridge is in there and they just repeat the chorus whic has the hook of the song and the part where he can really sing full out and show off his voice.

But I don't think this appearance was bad at all...any time on Jimmy is good cos he was still very funny. There are several things I loved, the segment where he talks about NY, the Spamalot picture with the girls, the comment on the spamalot audience...and really when he sings, its still better than a lot of people out there.

I still bet that...in the fall there will be a second wave of promo...he will be visiting Jimmy again maybe for his upcoming tour or maybe to support his next Single. He will be better rested and more time to get involved with a skit...

    I will miss him....

Have a good rest Clay...you did good...great run on Broadway and this CD was wonderful... take your time...you deserve it.

  5. Did anyone watch CSI last night. WHAT A SHOCKER...although before the end..I was like..that's the season finale? They solved that case to fast. And them BAM! I couldn't believe it. Will have to tune in next season to see how they handle this.

don;t watch but you got me curious...what happened

  6. was this posted yet?

interesting explanation of the cancellation of Ferguson appearance...from the RMD guy...via CH:

    Per RMD

Ferguson was cancelled when the performance was added to Kimmel. It seems you can appear on competing shows within a short period of time but you cannot perform on the competing shows within a short period of time.

well thats another thing I didn't know about TV scheduling...and Leno does not count apparently cos they are on different time slot. apparetnly if there was something like a 3 week gap between the two it was ok...

  7. Seriously...I know I've said this manymanymany times, but what the hay, scroll if you've heard it.

I really got a new perspective on this fandom when I joined an online community related to my favorite sports team. It really was wonderful to have people to share my Twin's love with but the downside FOR ME was...the same. You have no idea what the online Twin's community was like this off-season. You'd think the world was coming to an end. Really. I had to back away from one official newspapers blog when it was suggested in the comments section that my favorite player (my Twin's BF) be taken out behind a barn and shot. A comment that was roundly applauded by many of the regulars. Instead of celebrating the signing of four key young players to long term deals they bitched and moaned about the loss of a couple others. Instead of choosing to believe ... they packed it in before Spring Training even started and belittled anyone who dared to believe. You have no idea how verbally assaulted ownership (think RCA) & management (think Team Clay) can be. Really.

I think my point is that it's not Clay and us ... it's human nature and the internet.

    :F_05BL17blowkiss:

Very good perspective!!! Thanks for that!

are there any on site reports from Kimmel??? do I have to go out there in the Clayfan world...I'm skeered...

  8. I think the RCA Press Release about dominating the Top 10, "led by Clay Aiken", means RCA is more than happy to have that hoss in the stable. I sooo do not worry, because, if the music business goes completely bust tomorrow and all the artists are on their own to record, produce and distribute their own music, whether hard-copies or digitals, Clay would make it better than most. He is an entertainer -- a recording artist, a concert artist, a Broadway star, a comedian ....

This is a great point and soooo true. The problem with sales because of radio hit...most of the times people will be buying the CD because of the song and really do not become a FAN of the artist. That is why there are tons of one hit wonders out there. When you have an artist that is able to outsell a lot of people on radio today because he has a fanbase that is willing to support him...that is a more stable artist in this time of uncertainty in the Music industry.

I'm toying with the idea of being just a "lurky loo" for a while. If the doom and gloom is here -- where fans of Clay come to play -- I can only imagine what it's like "on the outside." OMWH has been out for exactly 10 days. Kimmel is tonight. Rachel and Clay were great today. I can't stand the whining and worry -- not right now anyway. Tolerant as I am, I can't tolerate the overwrought concern and consternation right now, because I LOVE this CD and I wake up every mornng with one of the songs in my head ... and this morning it was The Real Me. He must have been singing to me in my sleep, because

I woke up mid-song. Yesterday it was Falling. My head and heart are full and heavy with serious love for how Clay sings these songs -- and the arrangements are fantastic. I'm not much of a David Foster fan from waaaay back -- pre-Clay -- but I love the piano on The Real Me. David did a fantastic job on that accompaniment (but maybe because Kipper was producing?)

If I had my preference of (1) Clay puts out a throwaway CD that has catchy pop tunes and sells 2 millions copies the first year and in ten years nobody would be caught dead listening to it (i.e., most of the big multi-million sellers today), or (2) Clay puts out an album that stands the test of time and is a treasure forever but doesn't go platinum for years ... I'd pick (2) anyday.

    WORD...

I understand no one likes to think about the negative so I won't bring it up again.

For me, it is NOT that I don't like to think about the negative - it is just that I do not SEE the negative. I am not in any sort of odd denial. I see the same facts and make different conclusions, is all.

This is how I feel too.

CG...despite our different conclusions we do agree on a lot of things.

I don't think we can blame RCA...

I do think that TC is not going to give up on this and I bet there will be several waves of promo...

Yes there is an uphill battle for Clay..that is only if you want him to get to the next level of SUPERstardom. IMO at this point Clay is already a star. You need a certain star power to get the kind of TV appearance he got at such little notice and without a radio hit. If you doubt that just look at the difference in how Spamalot treated Clay and Tamyra. Clay is always goign to be a multi-platinum selling recording artist. That 6M figure will never get smaller and the significance of that number will just get bigger as CD sales get more difficult.

The next level I believe is one or two solid radio hits away for Clay. It will not be easy or fast but there really is no formula for making a hit and there is no real schedule. Who knows what will happen down the road with this CD cos the hit may be the second or third single. It may not even be from this CD but from the next or the next. But even if he never gets to that level he is a legitimate star and already has a viable career.

Yes TC is probably concerned because this is their livelihood and I;m sure they would like to have as much income from this as they can get. BUT I am not TC. I already got what I wanted from Clay...a great CD that I will probably play for a long time. I am also sure that we will see more of Clay in the future and in the mean time there is a great CD to enjoy.

Yup..after tonight...who knows what he will look like the next time we see him...

That is sad...but I think if we try and have fun with this CD...we can survive the upcoming drought.

  9. CG...I totally respect that this is how you view the situation and I am not here to argue or try to change your mind. I just have a bone to pick cos when you said these are FACTS...I don;t see any objective facts in your posts except for yeah...Clay is lacking in cool factor and the numbers you quoted. But a lot of your posts are assumptions or extrapolations at best.

Its HOT AC radio that does not play a song until its a hit in other formats. I think that is why they are focusing OMWH on AC radio. IT TAKES TIME for a hit to build on AC unless you are a format artist like Groban, Kelly or Buble. Their songs get added to most stations as soon as they come out. But it is possible to build an audience it just takes time because AC don;t do a lot of spins cos most stations have a no repeat policy. So if the chart is based on spins it could be a slow climb up that chart.I think its possible for the single to go up faster if some more big AC stations will add him. I think that is why they were comfortable in going for a break this summer cos they are letting OMWH grow organically in radio. He already explained this on his blog so right now we just have to be patient so I don't think a slow build up is out of the question.

I think all TC have to do at this point is try and try again if OMWH does not sell the CD. The fact that RCA said this is radio firendly tells me a lot and that they will probably try to bring out more than one single. There have been a lot of cases where a resurgence of sales happen when the second or third single comes out. If it doesn't...if he sells 250K or less...I still don't think he will just go off into the sunset or that RCA will drop him. He is still selling relatively well with a relatively small promo budget.

Right now...I just want to enjoy Clay. I am not concerned and I don;t think I have to be cos as other have stated...e is very versatile, he is not just a recording artist he is an entertainer...he has a true talent to rely on...he is not a gimmick... He also still has a high TVQ. You have some of the top TV hosts fawning over him. . He will always have an audience to listen to him.He may not become a huge superstar...but he will be a career artist if he wants that.

  10. :00003653: SOLO!!!

YUP he looks damn fine. But one thing I learned from watching Americas Top Model...Models looking gorgeous is not accidental, they make sure they look good for photos.

Clay is not a model so is not concerned about his looks all the time...thats why when the camera captures a look that just makes me GAH...it is just so much sexier...

I didn't like the blond look before...but I am loving it now!!!

  11. CG, thanks for posting the article for me. Hubby came to take me to lunch just as I was ready to load the article into photobucket. And I couldn't tell hubby "My readers at FCA are waiting for me!" Hee.

I think the article is very interesting, and I love this little section:

I'm not a politician. I'm not trying to get votes and get people to like me. It's not what I'm here to do. I want to do what I'm good at. If you like me, great. If you don't, you don't have to. I don't sit down and calculate what I might do and how that might help me get someone to like my music. I just do what I like to do and what I'm good at. I put it out there and if good things happen and more people like me this time around than before, that's great. But if I only appeal to females this time around, that's great too.

It sounds to me that he's got his head on straight regarding so much of his career -- he tries his best, and the pieces fall what may. He's a straight-up guy, and IMO he doesn't care all that much (maybe a little) about some silly bloggers who think his career is over.

I love this quote too ldyJ...to me this is his anti-marketing ploy answer. I remember I used to argue with the marketing experts on my other board...I mean yeah there are all kinds of ways that clay can change what he sings, how he looks, how he acts, what he says...to fit the perfect marketing image that would appeal to te desired demographic....BUT he does not want to because to him its about being real and true to himself. Thats why to me I am not stressing about the sales and promo. I think whats important is that he finds the music that truly represent him. That he makes his artistic vision real. If it will connect to people that didn't use to like him great...if it only appeals to his current fanbase...nothing wrong with that either.

GIbby....I love it when musicians chime in about the music. I really haven;t had any time recently to posts about ALAWH and Ashes...but I will try to make comments later.

  12. Saw this posted by jb1689 at the CH:

Sorry to postwhore but has it been posted here yet that Clay performing on Jimmy Kimmel is CONFIRMED according to Kimmel's website??

Woo Hoo! And since they may have a little more time do you think we may get the second verse of OMWH?

ETA: Here it is, in black and white!

    http://abc.go.com/latenight/jimmykimmel/in...omingguests#t=0

YAY!!! I'm happy for you CG since this was bugging you so much...nah I don't think he will have the second verse... its a set arrangement already. I just hope he can sing another song!!

    Can't wait for tomorrow night!!!!

  13. Fantasia had throat surgery this spring,. Apparently a few weeks ago. She said it was because she didn't know how to protect her voice and the Color Purple did it in. - Well as the lead she had a lot of emotionally wrentching singing to do and that does wear on the voice. Her singing and song was not to my taste, very boppy, hip hoppy, and who was the guy in the balcony? Is she doing a duet as well as Jordin?

Wow, only a few weeks ago, and she's singing already? No vocal rest was prescribed? Hmmmmm.

I watched her performance on youtube, and also read some of the comments. The comments prove to me, once again, that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There are numerous posts sincerely praising and defending her performance. I can totally see how someone who loves this type of performance would strongly dislike Clay!

    Here's a link:

    Fantasia on AI7

BTW, it's worth watching this performance just to see Simon's face toward the end. BWAH!!!!!!

I really think her performance was so energetic and so huge, but her song was really about the beat and all hip hop, that if you are not into that genre, its hard to appreciate it. I did feel that her vocal chords will probably suffer a lot after that, but that is what a lot of people love about her, she just gives her 150% on a performance.

When I checked out you tube I was expecting a train wreck...but what I saw was just this amazing performer giving it her all.
