I watched most of it through you tube...saw GM and Carries performance live and the announcement of the winner.

I like the idea that there could still be this kind of extravaganza of music, legends and new artist coming together. But of course AI producers just love to go OTT with the production. I think just going with the whole cheesiness is the way to enjoy it.

Carrie...I am so impressed with that girl...at this point I think she is the one that made the most of her AI experience. I enjoyed her performance, I like that song for just the fun of it and I really liked how she looked.

GM..At first I thought he was having trouble with the song...seem a bit tentative, noticed that he put up his hand to his ears twice...then about 1/3 of the song I think he was totally in it and he was awesome from that point. KF I have to disagree with Carries performance of this song, every time I watch this on ou tube i get goose bumps all over. I think I appreciate the lyrics more when she sang it than last night with GM.

I liked the GM medley...the guys looked hot but yeah glad amanda got out of this competition early. She does not really belong in that top 12

I really liked Ryan Tedder on the song...although David A can probably sing note for note better, I thought his voice had too much vibrato that the song was not a rock ballad anymore. I think they will have a problem with him singing contemporary songs. I bet they will flatten his voice in the recordings.

I really liked Jason but he does not seem to fit in this kind of huge extravaganza. He is one of my faves but I am glad he got out early cos he seem really uncomfortable up there. although I still resent how AI and the judges treated him in the end.

I loved the pips, I enjoyed Mike Myers...actually glad to watch it through you tube cos not as much of Ryan.

Happy with this result. I think Cook has a good recording future ahead of him. I think if he comes up with a good solid pop/alt rock album he can do better than Daughtry.

I caught the last 5 minutes (since it went overtime) and I saw "the moment". I had no idea David Cook's brother was dying? Is that true? Anyways, from what little I've seen of the show (flip over during commercials sometimes) I think the right person won. That whole "difference of 12 million votes" thing sounds a bit fishy though.....that seems like an awfully huge gap for such a tight competition.

But how do we know it was tight with votes? if you check most of the internet sites there are a lot more activities with Cooks threads. It was all an illusion I think to make it more exciting...I don't think they will flub with the numbers now. They have an independent firm checking it out. I think if they would cheat this they would make the gap smaller not bigger.

Its pretty much a recreation of AI2 but this time no phone problems to mess up the results.

I was thinking about that 12 M difference in votes...This huge difference can;t be just the result of DC the audience rebelling against the pimping. I think DC has always been way ahead of Archie and all the pimping was to create the illusion that this is a very close contest in the same way that they were pimping Ruben since Clay was always ahead in the votes. I think this is very much like AI2 but with all the extra phone lines they had and the extra time to vote no phone anomaly occurred and the right guy i.e. the most popular guy won.

They just announced on our local Fox news that Steven Curtis Chapman's young child was killed...I think in an accident.

(eta) His 5 year old daughter Maria was hit and killed by an SUV driven by her 15 year old brother in their own driveway.

I really don't think that was reverse psychology at work...thats just too risky to do for the finale. There is just too many people that watch just the end that can easily be influenced by what Simon says. Its very possible thethe producers were pushing for Archie. In the end...I think they went for their usual tactics and people jut didn't go for it.

I think for the first time the harsh criticism and the extreme pimping last night backfired.

Just saw Carrie...and she was fantastic!!! what a fun song...hee

Hee about nicknames and real names...I know most people from this fandom scratch their heads when they get an email from me cos my RL name is so far from Ansa...which is my nickname with college/high school friends and Clay friends. But right now no one in my RL calls me that.

I think Clay is he, and Team Clay is we, and Clayton is what people called him before he become famous.

I don't think there's a Clay/Clayton split. The thought of that is weird to me. He's the same guy no matter what you call him. People in Raleigh who knew him "when" still call him Clayton because they knew him as Clayton in school or church or wherever. I have a nickname and if my parents called me that it would freak me out. I'd be confused. Vice versa with the people who have called me by the nickname for many years. I answer to either one, but I'm not different whatever you call me. You can call me Ray, or you can call me Jay, and I'm still the same hard-headed woman! I really don't think he has compartmentalized himself to have an alter ego named "Clay" the famous singer -- I think he's all the same guy. Even if I call him Ray, or Jay, or RJ, or Ray-Jay, or Johnson!

This is my take on it too.

We...is team Clay. When he talks about his AI experience he says I when talking about himself and we when he is referring to the idols of that year or Ruben and Klo. When he talks about his career...his recordings...its we when the work is done by the team since he does not make decisions on his own but listens to his teams advice. But when he talks about his Spamalot experience...except when he talks about the decision to take it...he always uses I. I hurt, I couldn't move, I can't dance.

I did read that cooks dying brother was there again tonight and that may be why he was crying. I don;t care who winds too. I think DC will be good whatever happens.

I have been disgusted by the over the top pimping of David A by Randy since early on. I think David A is not bad...but I find his voice a bit thin and airy, his range limited and his singing style always the same. But the kid really seem young and its not really his fault if the judges over pimped him. But this is what made me stop watching this show this season. That and how the judges were just so mean to Jason, which was truly unnecessary cos I didn't think Jason could beat the Davids.

Last night I only took a peak and saw cook facing the judges...I thought he had a resigned look to his face...like he could see the writing on the wall.

YAY the suns up here...its been away for the past few days....and YAY I can see leaves on some of the trees, that always excites me!!!

I really don't know why I assumed that clay would be going back to NC right away. I think it just makes a lot of sense that he will be tying lose ends before taking a break. I wonder where SAMs offices are located. I was also thinking...its possible they are busy making plans for the upcoming tour and second wave promotion so that TC can work on that while Clay takes a break.

Hope this is a better day for the fandom!!

YSRN...I was not the person that posted part of your post...but its possible that its the idea behind the post and not the poster that was at issue that is why your name was not mentioned. I think when people post about things they read in other boards I really prefer that the names are not on it because I just take it for granted that it is not about attacking the poster per se but maybe just disagreeing with an opinion.

I no longer go to any other board...except for non Clay threads.. so I don't really care about whats being said on other boards.

I CARE about our members. The reason why we suspended the no talk about the boards rule here is so that the members can have a SAFE place to vent whether they are talking about this board or others. The idea is that we can say our piece let it go and move on. So when I read about what people are observing in other boards for me that is a way for our members to deal with the stress they are feeling. These posts are for this board to read and reflects people's honest opinions. I hope we can all respect that.

I really think that part of that support is being around for the down and up times and just having faith that his kind of talent will not fade into the woodworks...

CG...ITA on the reason why Clay wanted it out right after Spamalot. One option of course was to bring it out in the fall and let the lead single gain momentum on radio before the drop. But I think it was difficult for them to rely on that since he has such a bad track record on radio and they just want to keep the momentum going and take a break leaving the fans the CD to tide us over the drought.

I am with KAndre on this. I will enjoy Clay and simply not worry about his career because it is not in my hands.

I also agree with a lot of posters in the past few days. Since its been 5 years since Clay brought out a CD of originals...its like Clay is starting over. He is trying to build up his fanbase the old fashion way...through his music and that means he has to wait to see how many people the music will touch and with his type of radio play...it won't be easy. Also...unlike the real newcomers...Clay's celebrity status gives him a lot of advantage and disadvantage...i.e. he gets better TV promo...but there are also a lot of preconceptions about him that can be a barrier. So right now...all Clay can do is make the best music he can...and let people discover it slowly and organically.

with regards to the fans...I just stay here right now and don;t need to witness all the chaos out there. It has nothing to do with Clay...

I hope he stays away from the boards too and just enjoy his down time.
